Came here for a friend’s birthday! Our server Karlita was super friendly and helpful and the fries were hot, fresh, and tasty af. Really enjoyed my Botanist Martini ($12) which tasted just like a fresh green juice, but have to say it was annoying that there were no prices on the menu; we had to ask our server to look up each individual drink because they ranged from $10-19 and you had no way of knowing. Wish they’d fix that — but still a super fun hang!
We came on a Saturday at 7:30pm and there was sufficient space to sit indoors or outdoors. the drinks are great, but it would be nice to see the prices. i’ve ordered 2 martinis that are “at least $10” and one was $12 and the other was $19. the lack of clarity is misleading to customers. for reference, the paper plane is $13, lychee martini and pomegranate are $12
Why do they cheat customers when they order cocktails? I ordered the Coconut Rumble and was given a glass of ice water with a small amount of coconut flavor. I will never order cocktail here again.
Came here on a Wednesday evening on a holiday week. Very busy but my group of 4 was still able to get a booth in the front room. Aesthetic is lively and quintessential NYC before the World Wide Web.One of the few places that has been able to keep this vibe. May it exist for another 30+ years.Great spot to meet up with friends to grab a cocktail without having to pay city prices (~$11 for a martini)Good happy hour that runs until 7pm also.
Fell upon this place on a day trip to NYC and I’m so glad we did! From the food to the service to the atmosphere, this place was 10/10. Amir was our server and he was such a gem! Will definitely be back here again!
Love the space, so excited to see an LGBTQ friendly atmosphere. The bartender was kind and accommodating. We went before the evening rush which I highly recommend if youre an older millennial like myself lol, because it does get BUSY busy as the evening wears on. We had a few bad snacks that honestly werent great but I hey its a bar for a reason! I liked this little spot quite a lot, and happy to have been hosted here.
Such a fun bar! The waitress was super friendly and helpful. The pina colada syringe jello shots were my favorite!
Good prices. Good atmosphere. GREAT staff! Servers are busy as hell, but theyre on top of it. Never have to wait long for service or drinks Get there early to get your spot. Fills up quickly.
Did not eat, cocktails were delicious and generous. We had just come from the pretentious Gansevoort Rooftop and thoroughly enjoyed the friendly and pleasant ease of the Art Bar
Bar tender Beth was very attentive and drink prices aren’t to bad . They start you off with a glass of water which is nice while you wait for your drink.
The place I loved for the drinks and the good service is wide to come with some friends for a drink thanks to my bartender izach
Great atmosphere, drinks, and food! i think our server was Quentin, he was so sweet!! :)
Great happy hour food and drinks IF you can find a seat a great first stop when venturing slowly into the west village
Art Bar is forever one of my favorite haunts. The food and drinks are always great, and I love the art gallery/lounge area in the back. The employees are also always such sweethearts
I really love this place, the music , drinks and food, is such a great place to relax and have a drinks with your friends. We ate the nachos and tacos 🌮 😍
Delicious drinks for decent prices. The food is pretty standard bar fare
Charming atmosphere and lovely drinks. The Lychee martini was perfect! We also tried a cinnamon toast drink at the recommendation of our server and it was amazing. What stands out more than the phenomenal drinks was the service. Libby (sorry if I butchered your name) was fun, warm, and welcoming. We lost a bag and she stayed long after she could have gone home to help us find it. We did find it and she saved the day. Libby was funny and delivered some of the best service in NYC. We were traveling this week and saw a lot of people and places, but we had the best time by far at Art Bar.
This is one of my favorite go-to places when Im in Manhattan. The food is nothing special - its at best comfort food. Service is always quick and the guests are an array of diverse and eclectic folks that makes for a nice atmosphere.
Place was very cute and cozy. Portion was good on my nachos and my drinks were on point. Im a simple guy, beer and nachos.
Drinks were good, food was disappointing. Small portions for the price, and didn’t taste too fresh. Worse than your typical bar food.Service was extremely slow also - took over 30 mins to get our drinks, and over an hour to get our food.Atmosphere is unique for sure so maybe it’s worth stopping in for A drink!
Female bartender was very attentive. It was my first time there. I asked about the pink slurpie machine, turns out it was frozen rose. She gave me a free sample. Very generous.Good happy hour prices. Fried calamari was good. Bartender was outstanding.Ill definitely visit again
Popped in here for a quick drink after the Whitney and Little Island and hit their happy hour. Great timing! Sat at the bar and Danny was a great server - attentive and friendly. Nice selection of beers, wines & cocktails @ ~$5 during happy hour.
The place was very dirty and I ended up getting sick from the food :(
Drinks are cheap. They serve fun flavored jello shots in plastic syringes! They serve late night bites too.The front of the bar is divey and the back is like youre in your friends basement just hanging out.Great casual spot!
I really enjoyed my time in here with my sister. The vibe was cool. Inside in the back is awesome. It was pretty packed night. Happy hour drinks weren’t too bad. The bartender was really nice. The food was good. Really no complaints. Only thing would be, some of the music didn’t always flow with me.
You can’t beat the prices of the drinks here! they have endless options of drinks to choose from that are very fun and it’s a good place to start off the night and get lit and then go out. i will say it does get SUPER CROWDED and people were straight up bumping their elbows into our faces multiple times as we are at a table so it can be hard to just move around or feel comfortable even at a seat. other than that, the back section is definitely nicer and preferable and would def come back for the affordable but tasty drinks! i loved the lemon drop a lot and green tea shots
Stopped in here on a rainy Tuesday prior to a dinner reservation. It was busy and the bartender basically ignored us for the first 20 minutes. Finally found a table in the back and had to go to the bar to order drinks because the server hadn’t shown up to work yet. My friend had the pomegranate martini and I had The Botanist. Stand out was definitely The Botanist which was refreshing and unique. The hint of cilantro was a nice addition. Pomegranate martini was very one note. Overall I want to give this place more than three stars because it seems like it could be a fun place, but our experience was just average and the service was not great.
Service is okay, all the servers and bartenders are good enough (though certainly not quick, not always kind, and their cocktails are some of the worst in new york) but don’t come after 10pm, because the security?! SHADY. he will follow you to the bathroom and wait for you to come out, super weird and shady about checking ID’s, letting certain people in without checking anything, always making you feel like you’re in the wrong for being there. also, i know it’s new york, but they TRULY have a mice problem. they have decent food served later than most places though! visit warily.
Great dive bar and lots of good dealsAlso a fun lounge vibe in the back
Great place with very good vibes. Awesome bartenders.we
Super cozy neighborhood spot! Fun artwork on the walls. Loved the happy hour deals. Curly fries were delicious.
Great ambiance for a chill hangout. The area is not too big, but cozy for a party of 2-3. The food was not badly priced and mixed drinks were strong enough. I personally did not enjoy the happy hour wine much, but the price made up for it. Would recommend if you are looking for something cute and lowkey.
Cool looking place plus the food was good. Really enjoyed the steam dumplings & fish taco. But the tables are kind of small. I went with a group of friends& we were really rubbing elbows. Made it a bit uncomfortable to truly enjoy myself.Maybe I go again solo or with just 1 friend & give it a second chance.
Beth is the greatest bartender in the world I would lay down my life for her. And I will.
My friends and I were having a lovely night, and our server was very nice. Service was somewhat slow at times, but it was a busy night, and the cocktails were yummy. Unfortunately, our night was ruined when we were very rudely and aggressively asked to leave, for what I can only assume was because my friend and I used the restroom together. We saw multiple pairs of girls use the bathroom together all night, plus there was a couple literally dry-humping on the couch next to us the whole time, which they did nothing about. We were in the bathroom for maybe a minute before the security guard started banging on the door so hard that it was shaking. I was in the middle of peeing, so obviously, I wasn’t going to open the door. We also heard him say, Where is the key? as if he was going to barge in and violate our privacy. He continued to violently bang on the door the entire time I was trying to just do my business. We were so shaken, but he refused to give us a real answer as to why we had to leave. We had to convince him to let us go back and grab our bags and friends. We are of opposite genders, but my friend is very obviously gay, and this place has pride flags everywhere and gender-neutral bathrooms, so we assumed it would be a safe space for LGBTQ people. Clearly not. If you don’t want more than one person to use the bathroom at once, then apply that rule to everyone, or heres an idea: put up a sign that says as much.We sadly spent a good amount of money here, only to be treated so disrespectfully. For one, you could have asked us to leave once we exited the bathroom, but banging on the door like that was terrifying and felt like just some weird power trip for the security guard. We were very shaken by this whole experience, so be careful if you decide to come here. The security guard may become violent towards you.
Great place to get drinks and apps after work! really good options for mocktails and great nachos!
Went here on a date, service was well paced and chill, Livy and Hailey our two bartender/servers were awesome. Drinks were great fries were great too.
An absolute delight. Service is excellent, atmosphere is spooky fun, and cocktails are strong. Go during happy hour for some great deals. I loved this bar and our bar-hopping plans ended up being a 5 hr stay. I will definitely be back!
I recently decided to meet my cousin here to grab a drink and Im happy to be able to try a few new bars in the area. The bar is pretty small and it does tend to get pretty crowded. We were seated at the bar so I am not to sure how table service is as I didnt see many employees waiting tables.I had a margarita which was on happy hour that winded up being $4 which was pretty good. I decided to order the grilled chicken sandwich with honey mustard. I was a bit hesitant as I didnt see too many people eating nor was I able to find many pics of the food. Surprisingly the sandwich was actually really good I wished it was a bit bigger. The meal was less than $10. I think pricing is great especially for a bar in this area, if you are able to pass by during happy hour you can grab a meal and a drink for less than $15!
We were there tonight and a woman was completely trashed next to us. So we were concerned about her. She was with this sketchy dude. We told the female bartender our concerns and instead she started yelling at us and asked us to leave!! The rude bartender did not express any concern about a very intoxicated patron In what seemed an unsafe situation but on the contrary she was gladly giving her more alcohol.
This is a typical NYC bar. The service is great, very friendly, very fun. The music is loud and hard to talk over. I probably wont go back, but Im not really a drinker and Im in my 50s. If youre under 30, youll probably love the place.
I met some friends at this bar. Its really quite small, with a very narrow space between the booths and the bar. I regularly had to lean out of the way for people moving by, and the booths werent very wide either. They had a reasonable cocktail list, so its not a bad place, but not my first pick.
I liked Art Bar, drinks were fine. Nice Bartender. HOWEVER, they are full on running a credit card scam - so beware. I got an alert asking if Id tipped 246% which I had not. My original bill charge was $30 (3 drinks) + tax and $5.00 tip which totaled $37.67.My credit card company sent me an alert. They had switched the bill to be $10.89 and $26.78 (tip) = $37.67 which is not what I signed at all.Bartender is totally scamming to get more tips. It also troublesome that they manipulate the credit card amount.
You can never go wrong with an Art Bar happy hour! Great drinks & food. Try the brie melt baguette, its delicious! Very friendly bartenders. The front area has a more bar feel and the back hidden speakeasy area is more relaxing and more of a lounge with pretty cool art work.Go early as it gets really packed. Love this spot!
I had been to this place with friends before and overall the experience was good but tonight I had the worse night. I opened my tab with my credit card but at the time of closing they gave me a different card than mine, apparently they gave mine to someone else and they instead gave me a different card which I immediately gave back and went to tell the waiter about the situation, they never found mine, apparently they gave it to another guy who supposedly had left some time ago and that didnt even pay for his tab( all which seems really fishy to me and my friends); my friend had to paid for ours and we were just offered an apology which doesnt compensate at all for the lost and misusage of my card. Later tonight I had a an email saying someone tried to use my card in a nearby pub. If you go to this place make sure to pay in cash or simply dont leave your card to them, they might lose yours as they did with mine. Im angry and sad about this place, my friends and I really liked this place but after this whole experience we are never coming back.
Great spot for drinks. 7 dollar wells and 12 dollars for more advanced cocktails. Not bad! Get there early if you want a table.
Art Bar is the perfect experience if you want to duck into a crowded bar and get lost in beautiful conversation without interruption. My date and I got lucky walking into the back room and snagged a seat tight next to the fire place. There are couches btw, perhaps a 2nd or 3rd date choice (or great for friendship dates with the homies).Amir was our server and he was kind, funny, cordial. He was vibing the music and energy of the guests. The crowd was mostly younger folks engaged in discussion amongst friends. We ordered a bottle of red wine and some veggie dumplings and had a great experience. If you want to share intimate moments with friends or romance partners over some decently priced food and drink, I recommend Art Bar.It gets a 5/5 Veggie Dumplings and 2 Glasses of Red Wine rating.
Very cute and friendly dive bar! Outdoor seating available and the happy hour deals are ones that you can’t beat… especially when happy hour is 7 days a week! Aside from happy hour, their prices are very reasonable and the locals/staff are so nice; it creates an amazing atmosphere! I have not tried the food yet, but I will be back!
Yesterday we had quite a bittersweet experience in this bar. We paid for three rounds, first one paid with tap and let 20% tip and my sister paid the next ones with cash and since they were charging us after that drink we were planning on giving the tip at the end like it is normally done. At the third round we were talking about how we were going to tip because they were really fast and attentive until the waiter comes to us and in a rude way tells us “you know we work for tips and it’s been three rounds and you haven’t tip” which is very culturally shocking someone being rude at you and requiring you to tip them when you are normally paying for the service while you get whatever you want because they should be payed from the boss and the tip would be something extra if you feel like it. We explained to him that we we’re just planning on tipping him at the end and he told us that he neither had to know that nor that we are from barcelona and we have another culture, instead of trying to understand it or explain us how it works here and why do we HAVE to tip. We tried to ask him how is working here and why they get paid their depending on their tips which he answered with “well I can’t do anything about that”. I think it is really easy to be nice (and even more when you are asking us for a tip) and if we tell you that we have already given you a tip and also we are tipping you at the end, instead of being rude and saying that you don’t have to know that, it’s really easy to say “sorry I thought you were not going to tip at all and I don’t know if you know how it works here but since our salary is very low we depend on the tips, so I would really appreciate it” and that’s it. Hopefully there were two costumers who heard everything and admitted that he was very rude, explained us really nicely why this happened, the tip culture here, how their salary work and then we just started a long conversation with them. Since this situation happened, and how it happened and since neither the drinks were amazing nor the price was worth it we are not going to return. But at least the two costumers were really nice and it was a pleasure meeting them.
Super glad to find an affordable Happy Hour spot in this area. And the best is its daily from 4-7pm. Got here on a Saturday afternoon and boy this place is buzzing at 5pm. There were diverse groups of patrons from singles, couples to several small groups. Some available tables had reserved signage and Im unsure if they accept reservations because on Google it was stated no. They might have changed their policy. Even then Im extremely happy to be seated at the bar because Alexis the bartender was Ahhhmazing. She was super attentive despite being bombarded to make all the drink orders which came in non stop during my time there. What I really appreciated the most was that she offered to have the burger cut in half for my party of two. Shes a gem!! Thank you, Alexis!! Ill definitely be back.
Looks unappealing from outside but give it a chance and itll make you love it. Really nice atmosphere inside with good music and a decent bar. Beer on tap is a little restricted but they have bottles and cans. Didnt eat but the menu is what youd expect wiry burgers, dogs and other pub grub. Will definitely return if Im in the area.
I’ve been here like 7 more times since the first review and it’s probably my fave bar in nyc. i brought a friend visiting here and he was impressed by my choice 😎(i can count on one hand the # bars i’ve gone to multiple times out of choice) there’s a bar + booths in the front & couches in the back. there’s also tables outside. the back area is my fave & feels like a living room.i’ve gotten the butterscotch martini multiple times & i think most of the drinks are like $12(?) which is so decent for nyc standardsmusic is consistently very good and very throw back heavy
I would have given them 5 if they just only choose their songs to playlist a little better. Good and affordable drinks and bites. Cozy sitting area at the back.
This used to be my absolute favorite spot in the city until it sort of became more popular than it had room for (hence the minus one star). The first time I was there I didnt even realize that there is a huge back room with lots of comfy couches, a fireplace, and the eponymous art. Their happy hour prices are ridiculously cheap and their food (although definitely bar food) is really cheap and pretty good. Very LGBT-friendly.
I used to love this place, but now the people who serve are terrible; I refused to pay a tip already included in my bill, which I disagreed with because of the behavior of the waitress named Camila, who was rude and made me feel uncomfortable in every interaction. When I asked for that, the manager suggested giving the tip back to me because I would need it for my bus. They are the rudest, most impolite, and unfriendly people I have ever met.The music and atmosphere are excellent; I still love the place, but not the people who work there.
The bar tender gave attitude throughout the night because we politely mentioned that a part of our food order was missing. Also, said bar tender turned their back a few times any time we were tried to order. I dont know, weird vibes.
I love this place! It’s very chill and staff is always nice and friendly☺️ Prices are great and for that you get great meals and drinks!
We love coming here! Fun atmosphere, great drinks, and even better staff :)
Very nice atmosphere for a first time link for drinks. The bar staff are friendly and accommodating. The lounge is excellent for conversation with nice background music playing the whole time. The drinks were mixed well. ALL are welcome at the Art Bar lol. Didn’t try the food but the place gets a 5 off the service, pricing, and pleasant environment 👌🏿
Love this place. Great drinks with an additional separate martini menu. Food is simple and good. The back area is very cool and cozy. It’s a laidback lounge with couches and a fire place. Art all over the walls, as the name suggests.
Great happy hour deal and such a cozy spot! Perfect for a small group of friends or a date.
The ambiance was fantastic, creating a lively atmosphere. However, there was some noise/music from the kitchen blending with the bar music. Unfortunately, the margarita tasted like tap water. Considering the overall experience, I might return and try a different drink next time.
Really nice atmosphere and friendly workers
Great spot in my old neighborhood upgraded technology with great service fun music + seating area and the eats tasteful and filling drinks on point like it always is always a pleasure to reminisce and pop in from time to time
A cozy place to catch up with friends. The back room is full of couches, and ambient noise is low enough for talking. Beers average $6, mixed drinks are $8. A large menu of pretty good bar food. We tried the calamari, and it was above my expectations.
Great happy hour prices for nyc. came with a big group and they made ordering and splitting the bill very easy. one gripe is it was small for our big group.
Great place to hang with friends, have a bite, and take a few shots or have an ice cold draft beer. Will definitely return.
Pretty good service, nice atmosphere the music was good too. Some of the drinks were better than others, but overall good value and lots of fun choices!
I love it here. Its My favorite after work spot. The people are nice and remember me. The food and drinks are amazing.
Nice bar! The only place we found Im new york that makes White Russians so far.
Fun place that harks back to the Village of some time ago even though few of the patrons do. You can talk here, enjoy drinks at friendly prices and ponder where the art in art bar comes from. Maybe Art was the original owner or maybe art is talked about here. We came here with a group of photographers and had a great time. It is probably better than 3 stars
It was mine and my friend’s fav bar in NYC but it changed today. The waitress, I believe her name starts with a C, was so rude and seemed to hate her job. In addition, she added a „large party” $7 charge to our bill and when we asked her about that she told us it’s normal there on weekends. The information about this charge is nowhere to be found on their website or in the bar
Great spot for drinks with the crew (front) and date night (back room with fire place). Cute, comfortable and intimate date night. Food was good and I had the Jalapeño margarita...delish. Perfectly placed tables set so you can enjoy the one your with.
Great place to go to catch up with old friends. Great seating in the back and a fun playlist that hits every mark. Also delicious cocktails.
Just grabbed a few beers for a friends birthday. A great vibe and the servers/bartenders were quite kind considering we were an unexpectedly large group.
So fun! Great atmosphere. Friendly staff. We had a few cherry mojitos and some curly fries.
Great Happy Hour and food prices. Burgers and onion rings were really good so were the drinks. Try the watermellon jolly rancher! Decent volume level that made it mostly possible to talk. Im looking forward to going back.
Great bar and very good happy hour. Theres a nice bar upfront but where I usually like to sit in the back. Back there is a living room-like area with comfy couches and stools. Its a great place to sit back and enjoy a glass (or bottle) of wine with friends or a date.
Cozy, great drinks, affordable and they have happy hour 🍻
Perfect low key vibe on a weekday but the weekend is a PARTY. Love the jukebox. Service always great! WINGS R💥💥💥
Awesome spot for drinks with friends.
Art bar is amazing. Its definitely one of my favorite bars in NYC. They have the best happy hour (half price I believe) and the best surprise back room. Its a pretty cool, average bar when you first walk in but make sure you walk all the way through to the back, theres an amazing room with couches and ... art.
Great place for a first date. Make sure you go passed the bar into the back room. Back room has comfortable couches and arm chairs. Feels like youre hanging out in someones mismatched living room. Great cocktails and fries too!
It doesn’t look as interesting from the outside as you walk on the 6th Avenue but once in there’s a few different rooms with different vibes. Sat in the back where the leather couches are and I liked the dim lit intimiate atmosphere. Nice cocktails
Really cool spot with a nice backroom for bigger parties. Really like the art here as well - my favorite piece has to be the last supper remixed with famous icons from the 20th century. Food is pretty good - I recommend the Santa Fe wrap. Also had calamari, which was better than average, but nothing out of this world. Would go here again
This is one of my goto spots whenever Im in the area, and Im always introducing someone new, so I can put them on! With Covid, I believe the lounge room in the back is closed, but the atmosphere is still warm and inviting. This place is best visited during the Fall/Winter months!
The waiters were charming and in general we enjoyed our time there. Unfortunately when we were about to leave the the lady bartender behind the bar was very abrasive(!!!!!!!), aggressive and rude. Screamed the entire time we were there and decided to answer our question with sarcasm and accusations. Very unfortunate ending to our night, wont return there.
Excellent vibes, excellent happy hour. love bringing my friends here!
Amazing selection of drink options. Staff was very friendly. The lounge area was full and I could see why with how quaint and cozy it was. Music was very millennial (take that or leave it, I enjoyed it). Only drawback was where we were sat, do NOT sit at the semi-circle booths. The tables stick out about a foot into the walk way and we had our table bumped at least 7 times after we started counting because it was so frequent. Didnt lose any of our drinks because of it but thats mostly because we knew it was too much of a risk to have them on the table. They need to cut off the ends or something.Otherwise, fantastic place!
This place has the kindest bartender who served us Coke, Water and a tiny beer when we were already pretty sloshed at 1am. Would go again.
Despite a full crowd, I have never had a problem securing a seat for myself and my party. On top of that, Ive never had to wait for more than a few minutes to be served, and then to be served thereafter. The drinks are amazingly strong for what you pay and the noise level is just right. A win all around.
Nice environment, especially in the back seating area. Staff were a little moody but may have just been an odd day.
Great local spot for drinks and bites!
Great Drinks, great people and best service!! Thank you, will visit again :)
Good place to get together with friends for drinks.
Nice atmosphere. You feel like you are drinking in your living room. Portions of food are resealable, and drinks are cheap. Would recommend.
Great bar. Very nice decor and atmosphere. Also in a beautiful location. Great service. Very cozy.
A tale of two bars...the front room is cramped and uncomfortable unless you have a booth, there arent many. The back room is cozy with a fireplace as long as its not too packed it can feel warm and intimate. Great place if youre in the nabe for their 2 for 1 happy hour deal.
Art Bar is fun for a big group. There are not a ton of places Ive found in this area that are super conducive to large groups, but the back room at Art Bar is perfect and fun. Drinks are reasonable and cocktails are interesting and creative, but it sometimes gets super loud and crowded.
The martinis are so fun, reasonably priced, and are served table side! They also have a great range of types, and I love sitting in the back near the fireplace
Cool place, a shame the cocktails are terrible. Had to return an old fashioned it was so bad - there was a layer of unmuddled sugar at the bottom - apparently the manager made it and she and the waitress were very rude about my sending it back. If you go just order simple drinks or beers.
Highly recommend if you’re feeling a very relaxing atmosphere after walking on the high line, which art bar is a very short walk from. We enjoyed the last supper mural in the back corner.
One of my favorite watering holes! Love their happy hours! Comfy cozy, low-key spot. Backroom is a whole vibe! Friendly staff, great service!
One of the nicer ‘cheap’ bars in the West Village. It has a divey, yet artistic vibe. Check also the room in the back!
Cool place. Cheap drinks. Bartenders not the friendliest but worth a visit. The back is cozy with eclectic decor. Nice to go with a group of friends for a drink or two.
I am a native New Yorker and will keep to the directness of how we are known to be :)Food: Good. Have the burger.Drinks: Great. I recommend going during their Happy Hour its the cheapest game in town.Space: Art lines all of the walls of this modern bar/lounge. The main bar is is always crowded during Happy Hour, but the back room offers a reprieve from the mad rush to the bar.Scene: Happy Hour. Afterwork. Date night. Singles scene.Crowd: 20-40s Afterwork crowd. Pick-up scene. Single scene.Service: Good considering its crowded.
Really fun bar with a cool vibe. Its very inviting and youll see a wide array of patrons here. Solid drinks and good finger food.
This is the best secret in NYC. Fantastic staff, friendliest bartenders and a fun eclectic crowd. Since discovering this place I go frequently. Best Happy Hour ever and the food is perfectly prepared. I cant say enough good things about the Artbar !!!
A very healthy blend between a typical local bar and also very inviting to the new guests. Service was outstanding and the pricing is reasonable. Food is absolutely amazing.
Among my favorite bars for a casual beer with friends - the front has a fun old times vibe with vinyl booths and make sure to check the back (it’s a bit hidden at first) which has many cozy couches
Drinks were so beyond bad. they were watery and flavorless...
Very chill place , art atmosphere and romantic energy in the air 💯👌🏻
LOVE ARTBAR
A little crowded but once we managed to get a seat it was a solid 5 star experience. Great snack style bar food with affordable beers and even cocktails, will definitely be back
Best drink prices for happy hour, great selection, cool vibe & atmosphere. Please never change Art Bar. Aaron is a fantastic bar tender on top of everything!!! Its crazy how fast he is! Totally wonderful!!!
Very slow service. Server was rude (did not know prices of items on the menu, wanted us to hurry up after being 20 mins late to take the order). We were a party of 6 and all our cocktails came out awful. When we complained the server said this is not a fancy bar. Please dont expect anything.
Cute place in the west village. I came here on a second date and sat towards the front of the bar. I’d recommend going towards the back and sitting in the dim-lit room with couches since the front was a bit loud for having conversations. I got a cosmo and it was great!
Found Art Bar by chance wandering around the neighborhood and Im so thankful for it. Im from Chicago and any future trip to NYC means a mandatory visit.
I went to celebrate my birthday with few friends. The lady who was attending our table completely ignored me the whole time whenever I ask for something to drink or eat, she turned to my male friends. And I went there to spend a lot in food and drinks.
Love this place - especially the back room, which is really chilled and perfect for hanging out. Cocktail list is a little weird (lots of very sweet options!) but the wine and beer list is decent.
We came across a very good LGBTQ+ friendly bar in downtown!Cocktails are absolutely amazing! We tried rum & coke, vodka cranberry, tequila & soda, couple of Prosecco’s, mojitos and lychee martini.. everything was perfect. The server ‘Carlita’ aka Black bald smarty helped us have a best experience at Art bar.A great vibe overall for everyone!Definitely recommended!!
Great venue. It felt like the staff were playing a prank on the clientele where they were as impatient and rude as possible without the customers leaving. This ruse was successful for a solid 45 minutes before I caught on to the silly game they were playing! Good drinks, good couches, good john, awful service.
Just visited with a group of friends and had a good time. Small place where the front area and back area are like two different worlds. We enjoyed sitting in the booths in the front window. Fair price for drinks and food. Itty bitty bathroom.
LOVE THIS PLACE! Shoutout to Hailey/Zola
Solid drinks at very competitive prices, especially during happy hour. Cool vibes, will be a great place to go when the weather improves over spring and summer.
One of the best happy hours in the West village. $3.50 well drinks 4-7pm. Get there early or it fills up. Also, great fireplace in the back during the winter
Awesome happy hour! Great vibe, jello syringes are a good choice
It’s a nice place to sit but bartenders and waitresses are not really into the good customer service culture, only one of the waiters was helping out and being a true life saver
Great place. It feels like at home because the seats are sofas 🛋 and couches 🛋 super cool arts on the walls 🧱 😎
Came here for a quick drink! Tried their tower of Jell-O Shots and a Martini! Both were so good!!! The service here is amazing, too! Everybody is so friendly!
One of the most cute, sexy, private, cool, bohemian, romantic, private yet expose bars in nyc. Perfect to enjoy an amazing fate with love ones or the one you love.
My friends and I popped in to grab a drink but it was absolutely packed, and it was before 8pm! I was shocked. We did, however, get to see the possible Keith Haring up front near the door.Lots of art all over the place - duh - and a really cool vibe, nice and dark but as I said, PACKED!!
Had a great time here, cool lounge area in the back roomService was great, food was good, crowd was a eclectic, diverse and inclusive.
Great place to hangout at! Nice vibes, comfy sofas, and great cocktails
Its one of the worst bars. Chairs with huge holes, the tables are dirty, the qr menu without price for most cocktail (it says from $9) and we didnt even get a receipt. Waiter chosen the biggest amount of tip in front of me. We didnt know the price that we paid, but the worst thing is horrible cocktails without taste!
Nice atmosphere and ambiance. It was very crowded but we were able to get a table without a long wait. Reason we won’t be heading back here is because the waiter was rude and the service wasn’t great.
Great place, doesnt take reservations, & is ALWAYS packed to the max. If you can stop by when the crowd isnt wall to wall, then great. If not, youll probably want to move around. Its great, but not worth the wait.
We are a group of gay guys who have been friends for close to 15 years, and once a week we meet to socialize at a cool NY bar. ArtBar is our latest find, and in my opinion, the best. This is old-world NewYork at its best.Sal is great!
Classic bar and booths up front and cozy couches with dim lighting in the back. Gets super crowded so come early. We didn’t eat but the bar food looked pretty delicious
What a find! Alexis behind the bar is a boss! Super cool vibe. The cozy fireplace in the back is a hidden secret. The menu is diverse and fresh.
Come on a saturday Carlita is the best
Drinks during happy hour didn’t taste that great but the price is a huge plus.Update: Originally gave it a three star but now changing it to a one. I can’t believe I ran into yet another dishonest business where they charge you more than what was written on the receipt. These businesses have absolutely no shame. BE SURE TO MAKE SURE THEY CHARGE U THE PRICE YOU WROTE
Worst place ever!!!! I never got what I ordered. I was not willing to leave the 20% as a tip and my server got upset with me and asked me back if i know that they live from the tip and it is not nice not to give 20% at least.... come on.... HORRIBLE PLACE
Great local haunt! Make sure to walk all the way back to the cozy lounge area... go during off hours and during the week. This place gets overly crowded quick on the weekends.
Go to this bar!!!! Is an amazing experience...you will love it. The food is delicious, drinks are great, music phenomenal....so is an amazing place to go
Love this little place to stop by and have a few. I don’t think I’ve ever eaten here. Love the decor!!!
A nice place to drink a couple of cocktails. Good music and a cool atmosphere. The fries and snacks are also good. Its necessary to show the vaccine record and ID at the entrance. I attended on a Thursday night and It was full, so I had to wait to get a sit, but you can reserve in advance. In the back of the bar are the best seats.
The perfect bar & eatery away from home: good food, good drinks, & most importantly, no pretension; a pit stop for locals with servers willing to learn your name & go above & beyond to make you feel at home. This will be my go to whenever I come visit NYC.
Always loving Art Bar.The place is cozy all year round, all staff is lovely, food is delicious and drinks are bomb.Id recommend it on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday Saturday and Sunday.
Awesome spot. Little cramped on a Friday night. Drinks priced well. Service was great.
Cheap, good vibe and great service
Always had a great time here. Simple but steady, love sitting in the back room, so comfy and welcoming. Staff is really nice.
Secret spot to sit close with friends and gossip! fries are good and the back room is very interesting. a bit difficult to find but its a bar what can you say!
Horrible service! I had the rudest waitress Ive ever encountered in my life who basically kicked us out because we werent ordering alcohol fast enough (we had ordered other drinks and the place had plenty of empty seats with no line).
Espresso martinis are very good and our bartender Erin was amazing. Will definitely be coming back.
Happy Hour is great here $4 draft beer and well drinks. Lady that was bartending was so sweet and accommodating. Love the vibes here all around
Very fun lounge in the back for happy hour, but it gets packed quickly so come early! Food was causal but perfect to go along with a drink.
Perfect if you dont wanna go with your friends at Le Bain ! You can definitely crash in here: there are comfy sofas in the back and you can play guess who? with the reproduction of The Last Supper on the wall.
Nice cozy spot you wouldnt know the scenery unless you go are already know I was shocked as well....must go if you into the bar scene..
Amazing place, good vibes. wish prices were better put on menu is all
Very nice spot with very good drinks and yummy snacks. The back lounge area is really cool.
Great venue with more apace than you think. Good vibes, friendly staff and great drinks
Cool bar with a seating section in the back that offers AC and art to look at. A lot of people swear it is a gay bar but it really isnt. Not sure why that would be a problem anyways.
I can say its a great place if you want to spend a good quality time with friends. Its also really cozy and Romantic. You will love it.
A front for inclusivity. Ran by white people (lowkey racist) The white girl bartender with the septum ring is the worst. Will never be coming back here
If youre looking for somewhere close to home, where the bartenders will take great care of you and probably remember your name, this is the place. highly recommend, Alexis is the best!
Good for groups.Large area in the back with couches and paintings.Front gives you old diner vibes with good music and drinks.
Great place for a first date! Ambiance and noise level are great for conversations and the drinks were enjoyable!
Love the this place
If you ever want to deal with a bartender whos putting her ego first before the customer you def need to come here. Alexis is the worst bartender in NYC, and I hope she will leave this place soon to bring a new wind to this place. Old, unprofessional bartenders must work in retirement houses and serve juice for older people.
Tl;dr: (1) The couches in the back are the place to go. (2) check out the martini listI often find myself really liking 1 or 2 drinks on a cocktail menu, but there were at least 4-5 that stuck out to me as something I would like. The couple I tried were tasty, they even threw on a game I was hoping to catch the end of, and they have couches in the back (gotta love a place with couches). The couches can fit larger groups (especially if you grab multiple since theyre so close together), but they seemed hard to get hold of, and theres not really any standing room; so, if you head there with a group, just know youre gambling a little. It was just a couple of us, so we were able to grab a couple seats at the bar for a while and then snag a couch towards the end of the night. The food was actually better than expected too -- nothing phenomenal, but definitely good enough to stay there an eat instead of our original plan to go elsewhere for food. The food also came really, really quickly. The martini list had great looking drinks on it and were fairly cheap. Also, we didnt try them out this time, but they had jello shots in syringes, which seem a bit silly but fun.
One of the best lounges on the west side. The drinks are reasonably priced. It is a good weeknight spot.
Great staff, the prices are low, and the cocktails are delicious. The back lounge is a great place to hang out.
Alexis was so sweet! The Thai spring rolls were great. The price was great. I will definitely be back!
Neighborhood bar with casual seating in the back. Service can be slow when busy - the layout doesnt seem to make it easy for servers to keep track of customers.
My friend and I came here to grab a drink tonight. The bar was crowded and we were looking for a table, there was only a reserved table which the waitress said we couldnt use. She seemed to have an attitude about it, but we waited around anyway until a table opened up. Had a great time for a while, ordered 3 rounds and some food, and then the waitress (same one from earlier) started hounding us asking if we were going to order more or leave while we were still sipping on our drinks. She claimed she had people waiting for a table, but it didnt seem crowded anymore. We were also the only table she was rushing even though other people were there for just as long, if not longer. It didnt make sense as my friend and I were being respectful to the staff the whole night and were just conversing with each other, not being rowdy at all. Then I realized we were the only table of color at the bar that night... Shortly after, a male waiter came over asking if we were going to leave, and I decided enough was enough and asked them to close us out. They added a large party surcharge even though it was just two of us at the table, and when I asked why, he responded, Its Friday night baby. The drinks and atmosphere were wonderful, but these two waiters completely killed the vibe and did their best to make us feel uncomfortable. Really unfortunate as both waiters seemed to be of color themselves. Wouldnt spend another dime here ever again.
They have a nice deal on wine during the week, good amount of seating in the back, it does get crowded at times though.
Art Bar is very chill and laid back. Perfect place to grab a drink and unwind after work. The atmosphere is great.
Really impressive. Very efficient and friendly staff. Butter beer was 💣💥💣. Definitely worth the visit
Fantastic bar. Good prices, well made drinks. Alexis was wonderful. Very cozy. Will come again.
This west village staple is great! Checkout the back room if its not too busy.
Quite cozy place at the back, with a nice vibe! A bit pricey but worth it! They serve cocktails, drinks and food
Theyve got a fantastic backroom thats one of my favorite places to chill out in Manhattan. Great cocktails.
Love this bar! Zach was our server tonight and he was FANTASTIC!!!! He is incredible at his job and balanced business while still giving wonderful service, will definitely be coming backDrinks and food are awesome always!!
Always love this place, service can be slow somewhat but other than that it’s cozy, the drinks are amazing and the atmosphere is amazing. In winter the fireplace is also quite nice
I had the best time here. It was our last night in the city and not only did Alexis (manager) make sure we had a nice table but also the best experience. If you dig the speakeasy meets art vibes over some martinis go to this place & you wont be disappointed!!Cant wait to be back again soon!!! Xo
Love this bar and the bartenders there, beth is so nice
Fun lively spot in the village. Close to subway so makes for great pre or post dinner drinks
Popped in for lunch and a beer, sat at the bar. Good service, good food. About $30 which is typical for a Manhattan bar.
Great bar, cheap drinks and food. Everything was good and the staff is really nice.
Best Place 2 B in NYC. Everytime when I´m in NYC, traditionally this is my Bar for the first evening....great food, great drinks, great people - Love it.
Me and my friends went to go sit in the back of the bar. We were waiting for the waitress and then thought “oh, let’s just go order drinks at the bar”. My friend stood up to go to the bar and she appeared. I told her we were gonna go order from the bar and she said “No. This is my section, so you go through me.”
Love the food
Food is great, lovely ambience in the back, quick and respectful service. Drinks are reasonably priced for the neighborhood.
Amazingly cool back room, cheap happy hour drinks and their sour beer is delicious
Great place for happy hour. Be sure to try to snag a seat in the back next to the artwork.
Excellent cocktails and other choices, affordable food, late into the nught!night!! So cozy
Pretty cool, cool spot and a good location good people.
Fun hangout, cool space in the back. drinks selection is focused, cocktails are good. gets to be a little of a make out place in the wee hours.
