They had only just opened when I walked in to buy some take-outs, but I was treated like royalty. No question too vague, no opinion disregarded. We talked all things beer and their selection is great, both taps, bottles, and a huge array of cans. Im doubting you will ever see a Miller Lite or Coors in here, this is the real deal, for people who appreciate excellent craft beers. Cheers, we will be back.

My go-to spot to grab a quick bite and a refreshing beer for the past few years. This place offers a diverse selection of craft beers and chill atmosphere. From the menu, my personal favorite is their “Purgatory” grilled cheese drizzled with spicy honey and chips. Also tried the pretzels which were surprisingly delicious along with a Dijon mustard dip that paired really well. There are also cans and draft options to-go. Definitely a great place to check out.

I see a bunch of reviews about their beers, and yes, they’re fantastic and the rotating selection never misses, but you CANNOT miss out on their truffle grilled cheese. I went two decades not liking grilled cheese until I had one here. Absolutely life changing. Plus the service is top notch 😎

Had the pleasure to find this spot in my last visit to NYC this past weekend and ended up visiting several times. Great feeling space and amazing selection of beers. The staff is great and very on the now for the best and latest stuff.Will be back, next time will try the food.

City Beer has a fantastic selection of craft beers, and the staff is always happy to recommend something based on your preferences. The manager even helped me find a new favorite beer! The food was also good, and the overall atmosphere is relaxed and chic. I highly recommend checking this place out if youre in the mood for some great beer.

If I could give this place more stars I would!My partner and I love to beer when we travel and I’m so sad that this place isn’t closer to home (Canada). We came here Oct 2023 and spent 8 hours working our way through their Belgian beer selection, there are so many we just scratched the surface. It was FANTASTIC! This year (2024) we tried a couple other spots, were disappointed and came right back. Yet again, the staff, food and beer selection is incredible. Best truffle grilled cheese you will have in your life. The staff continue to be knowledgeable, not sure how with so many beers lol, and create such a wonderfully welcome atmosphere. Keep up the great work folks and thanks for another great evening! I’m so glad I chose here to ring in my 1,600th new beer!

Absolutely fantastic selection of craft beers. Very cute bar to hang out at, and they have a few tables outside too. The draft selection is really good - and they offer growlers. As a side note, they also have a great selection of beer glasses.

Hidden gem of a place as many places in the city are. I was here yesterday catching up with some friends and the bartender was super chill. Every hour is happy hour, said the bartender to my friend. 😆 I think its the Beer Authority of Murray Hill. Albeit, smaller, well-lit, and without the Theater District traffic. Great beers on tap, huge selection of drinks on can including ciders and sour beers. Plus, solid pub food options reasonably priced and clean bathroom. I definitely will be back! While its a bit out of the way (unless youre coming from Grand Central Station), its well worth the trek. The Irish stout and mango sour were damn good for a late summer drink. I also had a wheat beer that was solid and took a can of a pear sour to go. Im sure the tap rotates seasonally.

Easily my favorite beer spot in NYC. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, always willing to give a recommendation based on your preferences. Theres a large selection of beers on draft and an even larger selection of cans to-go, and the food menu is full of great sandwiches and sausage dogs made fresh. City Beer is also an incredible event space. My wife and I recently held our wedding reception here, and Angel took great care of us and our guests and was kind and accommodating every step of the way. We cant thank him enough for making our special day that much more special.

Ive been a regular at City Beer for several years and feel its time to share my thoughts. The beer selection here is outstanding, both on tap and in the refrigerators, offering a diverse range that reflects the staffs deep knowledge and passion for beer. The community aspect is also wonderful—regulars are welcoming and happy to chat about their favorite brews with newcomers. The staffs dedication to their craft and their enthusiasm for sharing it with every visitor truly sets City Beer apart.

Newly opened, got to hang out with Marco for a pint a a couple samples. Place seems very promising, the space was subleased and remodeled from the old cafe for TD Bank. Some very good choices for beer for the sophisticated palate or folks with a general interest and appreciation for the craft.

This was one of our favourite places to stop in for a drink while in New York.They had a giant selection both draught and canned with a really friendly and helpful staff to guide. I didnt have the food specifically but it looked great!I would recommend this over a lot of the bars in the area.

I happened to be in the neighborhood and came across City Beer. Wanted to surprise my boyfriend with some hoppy IPAs and they didn’t disappoint. The staff were extremely knowledgeable and steered me in the right direction. My only disappointment was I didn’t have time to stay for a beer. Hopefully I’ll head over there again soon. Thank you City Beer!

Great craft brew bar. They have a bunch of beers on tap, but they have even more in cans and bottles. This place is excellent for trying new craft beers that are made locally and domestically. There is no way you will go through their entire selection. The place is never too crowded or noisy. Great to drink in or take out. No line or jockeying for the bar.

Great little find after struggling to get some gluten free beers. Bar tender was very attentive and knowledgeable about the type of beer we were looking for. All beers we took away were fantastic 👌

This place is great. City Beer is an ideal venue for relaxing with some top quality beer after a day in New York City. I came here twice during my recent visit to the city. The service was great, as was the atmosphere and selection of beers on offer. Although I didnt eat, the menu looked decent as well. Highly recommended if you are looking for a good beer in NYC

We come here regularly, in fact it’s become a bit of a local. We love the staff and the beer list. They always have great alternatives for the non-beer drinkers. Angel is a wonderful publican and always makes time to have a short chat and say Hi to our puppy!

Loved this place! There were so many beers to choose from. Didnt actually feel like drinking at the time, so Ill have to come back on my next trip. My boyfriend has a sour beer on tap that was amazing. I was settled on the truffle pretzel, but the owner suggested the melts. I ordered the loaded tot, which was everything I needed to recover from the previous nights hangover and totally amazing.

Expensive but has good brews. Go only to get the cans you wouldnt get elsewhere.

Wow this place is great!Rotating beer selection on tap with plenty more canned options. This is a great option for a dog friendly, casual outdoor dining hangout. While most outdoor dining locations in the city are not actually COVID-safe, this location maintains open airflow with partitions between groups.

Low-key neighborhood spot with a very impressive beer selection. 18 rotating taps with a good mix of breweries from NY state and beyond. Draft beers are typically served in a 10/13oz glass but everything is also available in a 32oz crowler to go. 100s of cold cans and bottles to stay or to go, including a good selection of Belgian beers. The food menu consists of hot sandwiches, hot dogs and other typical beer bar snacks.

I hate to admit this…but is this my FAVORITE beer place in the city. From the melts (grilled cheese) to the pretzels, oh and not to mention the tots (bruh), and let’s not forget why we’re here: THE BEER. This place is outstanding. They rotate their taps (I think somewhere around 17) all the time, so you’re able to try all kinds of beer on draught when usually you would have to resort to the can or the bottle. I won’t lie, I try as many as I can each time I visit. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and can make really good recommendations.I really don’t want more people crowding my favorite spot, but do yourself a favor and visit City Beer. Whether it be for a drink to catch up with with friend, decompress after work, or first date; this is the appropriate place! If I could give 6 stars, I would.Cheers

Fantastic addition to the neighbourhood. These guys know their beer and clearly love what they do. The focus seems to be on interesting, flavoursome beers from the US, but there’s also a solid European offering too. There are taps galore along with two huge fridges - left of the bar (near the entrance) are the American cans and bottles, and right of the bar (far side) are their Euro counterparts.Extra points for stocking War Flag, Trailblazer, and best of all: Trooper.

This was one of the first hangouts I got to experience and I must say it’s unforgettable. The service was amazing, lots of beer choices and the tastiest hot dogs I’ve ever had in NY. I highly recommend this spot if you would like to try out a variety of craft beers.

Angel is the man! Best in class human. You feel the love and you feel it in the food and the beer. I respect his knowledge of beer and his care for people. Everyone that walks in knows his name and he knows theirs as well. I went here with full intent of buying beer that they POST online has having. Come to find out that they generally have what they post BUT surprise!! Its NOT all for sale. The employees who, both were nice had to call the owner to get approval to sell certain beers. Just so happens he did not want to sell one of the three bottles he had to me. What a Great business practice advertising so many beers and posting what they are just to be told you cant buy them! Buyer beware dont go with hopes of buting what you see posted. Maybe the owner should keep his personal collection off the website if he is not willing to part with it. FALSE ADVERTISING at its finest. Did not eat the food but it looked good. And yes they do charge $2 per beer even cans if you want to drink them there, however I was made aware of that from the get go.

Ive had this place on my list for a while and it is very small and unassuming. They have an amazingly pricey beer selection and exotic snacks. My partner and I got two beers that came out to $13 but when we said we would be drinking them there, total was suddenly $17. It seems if the price would go up for staying this should be noted somewhere or explained? We requested a receipt that was never sent so now I feel like we got cheated. I would come back to try the food/more beer on tap, but I expect some clarity on the payment situation. Again...pricey!

Great selection of beers, nice interiors. However, they tacked on a 20% service charge without telling me, and expected tip on top of that. Beware.

Visited whole in nyc on vacation. Great Beer selection in cans and several on tap. Chris was awesome. Recommended my first beer which turned out to be a phenomenal pilsner from a NY brewery. Also picked up a few to go home with. The bar fills growlers in different sizes too! Ill definitely make it a pitstop on my next visit to the city.

It was all well and good (the food was great) and the beer selection is cool… until the bill came and they charged us 3x $6 for “corkage” (we didn’t bring our own bottles) , also charged 4 more beers than what we ordered.. weird vibes

My husbands go to place for beer. I like fruity beer and they carry Lindeman’s in more than one fruit flavor including Cassis which is hard to find and come by. My husband loves to drink IPAs and high gravity beers here which they have a selection of from many brewers. They have an outside which they built during Covid and it is still here. Nice staff and they have good pretzels and even Spanish truffle chips! Also heaters outside so always an option

This place fits the bill for beer lovers in NYC..I love my Brooklyn lager but sometimes you have to go up a level. City beer is the best for that

Really cool spot to check out a wide selection of beers from different spots, both in and out of the city/state. It’s nice to be able to try just one can of different types without having to commit to a 4-pack. They also fill crowlers here and have a nice outdoor space. The employees are always super nice the few times I’ve been there!

Angel is the man and made me feel welcomed as his energy filled the room. The vibe and decor of the place is great to boot as well as music choice. The selection of beer is solid as well (what truly makes or breaks a place for me) and can see me returning any time Im in the area or not. The place was packed when I went and the demographic of people was from young (21+) to old all brought together for the love of craft beer.

A cornucopia of beers for your choosing from Germany to Australia they dont have it all but they have a lot. In addition they have draft beers, which you can sit and drink or you can purchase a growler and bring it home. Pleasant and knowledgeable staff who are more than willing to assist you in finding a beer or helping you decide what you want.

If you want an amazing beer selection, and a delicious melt- absolutely stop here. Spaced out indoor seating options were comfortable and covid friendly (lots of outdoor seating, too!) Great location if youre out site seeing and want someplace more chill to sit down and grab a beer.

City Beer always has a great selection on draft and to go. They almost always have what Im looking for, and if not some other good selections. Its hard to leave without spending too much money. I do wish the prices were a bit better but they are not the most expensive (thats Beer Table in Grand Central) and its New York after all. And they are still going...!

This bar has a great idea for offering a VERY wide selection of beer. They have several doors worth of cans, as you would find in a beer store, as well as a dozen and a half of draft options in addition. I thought the food was better than expected and they have some interesting and tasty options. We got two types of the pretzel options and I got a panini and all were very good. Its a simple setting, which I like, and the staff were all friendly and helpful. I will surely be back in the future during one of my next visits to the area.

Hands down, the best beer joint in Midtown and Lower Manhattan. Angel is what really makes this place stand out. I’m so glad it has been around for five years and counting. The food is excellent as well. Not sure I understand the complaints on the corkage fee—it is one of the lowest around. Obviously no corkage fee on draft pours. Highly recommend for any beer lover out there. Come for lunch or dinner.

All love and service here. I was in town for a few days for a conference and I initially came in to buy a couple cans to go, but I went back a 3 days later when the conference was over to get a couple pints and I had the best dog of my life. Its the hot diggity dog on the menu. Angel, the owner or manager, is a great guy. Id definitely stop in next time Im in NY. Great hospitality from all staff, good food, environment, and beer selection.

My favorite neighborhood spot! Awesome beer selection with the perfect food to go with it - and truly love all the vegan/vegetarian options!

If you love beer and are in the area, you’re crazy not to stop here. The assortment of awesome beers is one thing, but throw on top some amazing grilled cheeses (and other items including vegan choices) plus fun conversations with Angel and others hanging out, it’s a welcome place to just sit and have a beer (or three) after a chaotic day (or week in my case). If you don’t have time to stop, they have a plethora of unique beers to take to go. The short walk in the rain from Grand Central was well worth it. Thanks Angel!

Great selection, affordable prices, spacious. Had an awesome time with coworkers and had so many beers for such little money, it reminded me of college towns down south. Don’t pay Manhattan prices when you can go to City Beer instead, ask to take home some free coasters too

Gem of a store with a wide and eclectic selection of beers from NYC, the northeast and abroad.Chris is a knowledgeable and attentive bar tender — in some ways more like a guide — who really knows and often loves what he’s pouring for you.

They readily offer tasters before you choose which is really great for me since Im shy with that stuff

This place definitely has a lot of beer! Take my 3 star review with a grain of salt, because I dont drink any alcohol. The food isnt fantastic but thats probably not why youre here! Enjoy the beers.

If you like craft beer on tap and/or to buy for take away this of definitely a place to swing by. Numerous well kept beers from local and aboard served by welcoming bartenders in a COVID aware environment. Well worth the trip.

Excellent! The bar tender knows his stuff. Im not generally a beer person but he took the time to figure out where my tastes lie and found not one, but TWO beers that I really enjoyed! Plus the sausage was amazing!

One of the best beer bars in NYC. Angel, Tyler, and all the other great folks here will make you feel right at home. Recommendations are always on point. Drafts rotate frequently and feature a wealth of beers from NYC and upstate. Also don’t miss the excellent bar snacks and food, especially if you’re a cheese lover.
