This place really tried to be a dive bar. The service, music and decor were all the ingredients you want for a great dive bar. The only thing missing from this dive bar was the dive bar prices. However during HH they probably do have great specials. All and all I did enjoy my time here and suggest you check it out. Please add TV for the people sitting at the bar.

The best board games bar in the city! We have tried quite a few of them all over Manhattan and Brooklyn, and Es has remained our absolute favorite. The vibe is always casual, friendly, and fun, and ramps up a bit on Friday and Saturday nights. They have a fantastic selection of games, enough that there is always a new one to try even though we have easily been there 20+ times over the last few years. The servers are always laid-back, there are different seating areas depending on the vibe youre looking for, and the burgers are AMAZING. The happy hour deals are also amazing, and incredible that its most of the day! We have easily spent 5+ hours here on multiple occasions because you just dont want to leave.We also recently hosted an event here, and it was such an easy and positive experience. Erin was so friendly and incredibly helpful with our options for how to book it, and really took the stress out of any part of the planning process. The day itself was perfectly smooth, and our guests really loved the relaxed and fun vibe of the bar - exactly what we hoped for. Hopefully well have a reason to book an event with Es again, but we will for sure be there regularly in the meantime!

Had a great Saturday night here! The drinks are affordable and there’s lots of variety. Great music, great vibes, and our server Mike was super helpful and had great drink recommendations.

Great vibes at es. The atmosphere is dimly lit with the glow of neon lights and the ceiling looks like decades of sticker-slapping (its not but it still looks cool). There are always people here, and they always seem to be laughing which is a pretty good sign. There are also a ton of board games to play if youre into that. The food is pretty decent and the draft list has something for everyone. Tables are first come first served so go ahead and claim one.

Fun bar! Great frozen drinks. Our server Rueben was very handsome and attentive. My party moved to the bar and we continued to have delicious cocktails and good service. Will definitely be back

So I had this whole review typed out but Google Character limited me. Let me try and shrink it down. Here is my bulleted review our first time at Es Bar.Vibe - was promising but went downhill once we sat down.Service - our server was very distracted. Our server seemed very rushed and distracted. She also asked us to move from a four-person table to a two-person table even though the front of the house sat us down. After we accepted to move she explained that well if four people came in or if someone had a reservation we would have asked you to move anyways. She was slow in taking our order and always seemed in a rush not giving full attention. When bringing our drink order she spilled some of the Bloody Mary on my slacks and then was like oh look you got some on you. Instead of offering to help.Quality of Drinks - We both ordered the Candy Cane martini. Both the mixing and presentation of the martini were poor at best. You could not taste any chocolate and peppermint and it mostly just tasted of vodka. I got a Bloody Mary as well to take advantage of happy hour. It again was mixed poorly, so I didnt miss the little bit that was dropped on my leg. It tasted mostly of vodka and the mix seemed like tomato sauce from a Chef Boyardee can.Quality of Food - The burgers were okay, nothing to write home about but tasted fine. The French fries were solid, except for my order of Spicy fries. Service initially brought out the wrong fries with my order. I let them know and they took them back to fix. It seems like they were just thrown back in a bowl and had spicy dumped on them real quick and then a few slices of jalapenos dumped on them. They were not spicy at all.All in all. It was a mediocre visit to Es Bar. It is still the holidays so I left a tip but this is one of the first times in a while I considered not.I saw all the good reviews and was excited to visit. Unfortunately, due to the vibe, issues with service, and quality of drinks, my friend and I will not be visiting in the near future.

Great NYC PU. It has a really cool ambiance and the servers are nice and quick. Beware of its price, were in New York. They have tons of board games too and a wide range of good beers. Id recommend the Coney Island one!

This was my favorite bar by far on my trip to New York. The happy hour burger for only $5 was so delicious. $6 well drinks were okay but the MARGARITAS WERE FIRE. Drinks and food came out surprisingly fast. My sister and I chilled there for hours playing uno. The atmosphere was super chill. It had mutiple games to play. From Jenga to Sorry theres something to play while you drink. Definitely the place to go if your out in Manhattan

Franklin made the experience great, he recommended the Es burger which was fantastic!!! The E’s lager was also refreshing and and ice cold. But the best part of the experience was hanging out with our server Franklin :). Excited to hang out here in the future.My friend Noah will not stop talking about how delicious and juicy the E’s bar burger is

A great neighborhood bar on the UWS! The vibe at this bar is unbeatable, a perfect blend of chill and lively. The drinks are top-notch, the food is some of the best bar food in NYC, and the team here is simply fantastic - they make you feel right at home. Bonus points for the awesome selection of free board games, adding an extra layer of fun to the experience. Highly recommend for a fun night out!

So this was a slightly fanced up dive bar. To start the waitress dropped off chips (complementary) to start and then told us that happy hour was ending soon, so if we wanted to enjoy any deals to put our order in soon. We had a severe shellfish allergy in the group and the waitress was so kind and accommodating.There were a few options for someone with a shellfish allergy. The drink selection aka cocktails, was slightly basic. I didnt notice specialty cocktails. The mac n cheese balls were great. They also had a large game selection. They were organised pretty well on the shelves. The one we played with did have some sticky stuff on the lids so wiping those down more could be done but all around the service was great and we enjoyed our time there.

One of my fav bars in the city. Been going here for 10 years. Great atmosphere. So glad they rebounded after the fire a few years ago. Highly recommend. Fun events here and a good happy hour.

Always stop in for the es burger. Never disappointed. The happy hour or deluxe are both great, but I highly recommend getting a side of fries. The atmosphere and service are perfect for a weekday after work bite and drink.

Nice bar located in the Upper West Side of New York City. Weve been there on the evening before Thanksgiving and there were a few seats available. Staff was lovely with us the whole time - only complain is that a pizza took a long while to be served. But the quesadilla was much faster and very good. The place has many board games available to play, which makes the experience even more interesting.

Had a blast here over the weekend celebrating Halloween! This place had great atmosphere super dope vibes! The food and drinks were amazing. The wings and French Fries were so delicious! 10/10 recommended. Our waiter Coby took great care of us the whole time…he was amazing. He deserves a raise! Cheers!

Such a gem, the staff was friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. Our drinks were great and we really enjoyed the vibes and the music. E’s Bar has become our go to spot for game nights and a chill but fun night out! Love the free board game selection, the food and tableside smores are delicious, and everyone is so nice and welcoming. Great spot on the UWS!

Affordable drinks, great bar snacks, fun atmosphere!The nachos and fries were beautiful! The service was amazing, thanks to Patrick. They have a few board games in the back if you are in the mood for that. Good place for large groups as well. There were 4 large groups with 7-10 people in the back. Loved the vibe and the pop rock music. There were some classics on that playlist that everyone could vibe to.Definitely going back to Es for more!

Nice location and host, but thats about all the praise I can give. My burger was woefully overcooked and dry, my soda was entirely flat & they tried to fix it by adding a dash of soda water...so my coke was instead mostly flat and now watered down.many better pubs in the area.

Honestly loved it!! I had my mind set on trying out E’s Bar but my other friends weren’t so sure but once we got there at the end they admitted it was a fun place!It just had everything you would need for a fun night out! Music, food, drinks, dessert and games! The staff also was amazing 😊 would definitely go back and recommend!

My husband and I went for happy hour. We were pleasantly surprise on how good was the burgers, falafel burgers and nachos we ordered. The drinks were spot on. Best part was our server Franklin, who was attentive, a good conversationalist and took care of us. Will return!

Great little bar! The atmosphere was chill and it had just enough space. Also, theres outdoor seating for the summer. It should also be noted that the bartenders are thoughtful and attentive. Theyre definitely the kind to remember who you are and your regular drink order.

Came here to watch a World Cup match, had a good time! Bartenders were friendly, crowd was fun, and they have at least two big TVs (as far as I could see) showing the action. Happy hour included a good deal on a falafel burger which tasted great, especially with the pico de gallo on top. Extensive beer and liquor selection, including a very good non-alcoholic beer (Clausthaler). Always appreciate a place that offers something besides sodas and O’Douls.

Besides that incident, the bar is actually quite nice.We ordered an es burger, which was supposed to be $5 during happy hour time. Yet, Bartender R charged us the full price ($8) just because we also ordered fries... Hilarious!

We came in in a Saturday afternoon in need of one thing: booze. Mason and E’s bar came through! We played UNO at the bar while I sipped my Beer-Ita while my wife had a frozen margarita - we ended up getting a burger … then another, with fries. Just a perfect spot for a couple of locals on the weekend. Thank you Mason for your hospitality!

Good, low key venue for grabbing a drink or two and playing some board games. This is definitely a dive bar, but the game selection is quite good, and the atmosphere is pretty nice for a dive bar. The only big problem is that the place doesnt smell so fresh, presumably due to all the spilled beer.

I’ve been coming here for years and think this place is a “find”. The atmosphere is chill and super cool and the food is the best bar food I’ve had. Their burgers are exceptional and their quesadillas are simple the best. Like no kidding, the best. There is also a server that deserves special recognition; Franklin. He has beeen there for years and he is the most kind, courteous, helpful and pleasant person. E’s Bar is soooo blessed and fortunate to have him on their side. This place (and Franklin) is/are fantastic and definitely recommend.

Great place if you’re in the mood for some light food poisoning. The burger is near guaranteed to keep you up all night in writhing stomach pain. 2 others besides myself on two separate occasions have experienced this. Thought it was a fluke but now I’m a believer. Will not be returning. Hope they see this and fix. 2 stars instead of 1 because Bartenders are super chill.

This bar is so cute! My server Franklin was full of conversation and assistance immediately, he even offered to make me a lemonade that they didn’t have on the menu which was so sweet! I would definitely return here with a group of friends, possibly for one of their trivia or karaoke night events. I love the interior, it’s very open, cozy, and the perfect pinch of retro due to a literal juke box. I recommend ordering the Shishido peppers, they’re a clean appetizer that accompanies a round of wings or the beef tacos perfectly (both were delicious)! I opted for a classic margarita, although they offer frozen margaritas and frozen rosé. They also have a bunch of cocktails to choose from which is great, the beer list is like an epic scroll so no worries on lack of drink options here. Lastly do not leave without ordering the mac & cheese, they can add chicken or bacon to it as well!!

During the current corona winter time, I wouldnt recommend the place if you sit indoor.The door was all the time open, so it was freezing like sitting outside. They offer small bubbles that are places outside where you can sit and have a heating option. It would be great to have something similar in the inside of the door has to be open.Due to the current regulation you have to order food per person. Unfortunately sides like fries doesnt count so be aware that you have to by an entree meal or at least the nachos shareable for two.

I like this bar a lot. The drinks are nice and there are a lot of food options. They have a ton of boards games for customers to play with. The bar is huge so there is a lot of room. It’s good for big groups. They also have a water station with glasses for water, which is a huge plus for me. So you don’t need to go to the bar to ask for water, and you can have as many refills as possible. Would definitely recommend this bar for a low-key night out.

Es Bar has a nice, fun vibe and great for a casual night out. There is the front area which is good for large groups to stand and chat, and the back has tables and board games. Es bar also has a variety of food options that I still have yet to try, but looked pretty good - everything from burgers to tacos. I liked the bar and the scene and would definitely to back again.

I’m kinda underage so I couldn’t try anything there but I was able to see the drinks they smelled really good and they would be great if you wanted to get yourself knocked out. The bartender was pretty nice though I think.

Love this bar, we play trivia here all the time. You can use strategically placed tablets or your phone to order food. Wish theyd improve the phone / table availability but besides that the drinks and food are excellent.

My favorite bar in Manhattan. Great crowd, awesome staff! The food is a step above, typical pub-grub, while still being reasonably priced. The juke box is one of the best old school jukes around And they have tons of fun games. Highly recommend Es bar.

Nice place to meet up and get drinks. Very busy on a Saturday night so if you want a table, get there soon or be on your game (no pun intended). Good beer and drink selection, although I would have liked to see a wider variety of beer besides IPAs and lagers. We didn’t get to play a game since most were taken but definitely the epitome of an Upper Westside hangout.

Awful service, we were rushed to make an order. Drinks were made incredibly wrong. Had tableside s’mores that was served on a shoddy dingy piece of wood that had maybe 3 servings for almost 14 dollars. Ended the night with no one checking in on us and leaving completely unsatisfied.

Its a place with updated services- as in u order from the tabs on ur tables, and also for drinks its self serve. The food was good, but the best thing is we didnt focus on the food as we were busy with board games and Jenga and so many other games.I liked it and would recommend it.

This is such a cool hangout in the UWS. Part dive bar, part games pub. The staff is attentive and extremely polite (Cristina was AMAZING as our server). They have alot of different board games and other things to do while you are there. It can get pretty crowded towards the front of the bar at peak times. The pricing on the menu is reasonable to below market average for the area. Overall, a great gem in the UWS.

Heard about it online and came to play games and have dinner with my friend. The atmosphere was so busy and loud but still had enough space to get a table without reservations, I loved it. The fries were good but the Mac and cheese not so much. The staff are amazing but water, utensils, and napkins are kind of self serve from a random little table with disposable stuff so not a classic dinner experience.The jenga blocks were vanished with sometimes hilarious messages so def check them out.Over all if you like a bar with music and a noisy crowd, where you can play jenga or connect 4 this is the place for you. I love all 3.

Come for the trivia stay because its a really awesome place to be.Es Bar is preeeetttty awesome and quite a good size to be able to have a good time! The drinks are reasonably priced and the Tres Fish Tacosare BOMB.I appreciate the fact that they choose to be a sustainable bar with their LED lighting and purchasing of carbon offsets. Its hard for bars to reduce their envionmental impact so any step matters.It always seems like everyones having a good time here- not trashy at all, just a good neighborhood bar. And they have theme nights too which is fun.

Went there on Friday for happy hour. The atmosphere was good. The bartender was great.

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! The bar tender (Ralph) couldn’t find my friends debit card. He kept stating that he didn’t take her order even though her party was there since 7pm. He was extremely intoxicated. Even after my friend gave her ID he still couldn’t find it. NEVER leave your tab open at this establishment ! They will lose your card and then BLAME YOU for it. No Manager present to help us with this ordeal.

Perfect spot to meet up with friends or a first date. Drinks and bar food never fail to disappoint. Service is prompt, knowledgeable, and friendly as you’d hope to get from a neighborhood hangout.

Fun place to go with friends, they have dozens of board games. Unfortunately, the digital ordering system is very glitchy and doesn’t work well. They’ve sacrificed the personal interaction of ordering from a waiter for tablets that don’t work.

Such a fun place for a chill night

Easily on of the best bars in the entire Upper West Side. Great food, vibe, games, juke box, and a friendly staff. A great place to unwind after work, or stop by on the weekend with friends to catch up and throw a few drinks back.

Great atmosphere. There are games to play, a good playlist, and nice bartenders. The prices (especially for food) were too high and the bathroom was hard to find

E’s Bar on the Upper West Side is truly a hidden gem. I’ve been here a few times and it is ALWAYS bumpin’ with a laid back but energetic crowd.They have karaoke on Wednesdays, trivia on Tuesdays, comedy on some Mondays and more!Plus, their happy hour is solid and goes until 7pm every night. Oh, and they have board games you can play.e’s Bar has plenty of seating both indoor, outdoor, and in a hybrid indoor-outdoor type area in the front.This place NEVER disappoints!Typical Age Group: This bar is close enough to Columbia University that most nights you get a crowd in that age group, but it’s def also full of people well into their 30’s and 40’s.Cost: It’s an average-priced bar for NYC standards (cocktails about $13-$14, beers for $8-$10, etc.), but Wine Wednesday is the best! FULL pours of wine for only $7.50. They also have other nights of specials, check them out here.

Classic table/bar games everywhere (eg., UNO, giant Jenga, board games), solid whiskey selection, great back room that you can rent out for events, delicious nachos... rare to find such a good bar on the UWS.

BAR sign is headache/anxiety inducing for some reason. Beer selection ok, food sub-par. Hooks under seats are great though and seating comfortable and spaced perfectly.

Es is a gem in the UWS! The staff is such a pleasure: AJ and Sammi especially. I have lived in NYC for years, and its refreshing to have found such a vibrant yet divey local spot. The drinks range from frozen hot chocolate (spiked) to Beeritas and a thin mint martini. Its so much fun to try each drink and catch a game at Es with their wonderful staff. I highly recommend!

Amazing place! Love how its busy and fun in the front, and a pretty big space in the back where you can chill, with large tables. Havent played darts yet, but Ill be sure to visit again! The loaded nachos are so good and taste homemade, and the drinks are affordable and hit right!!!

This restaurant gave me cancer. No it actually gave me herpies. Because that gets around really easily. And the hate of this restaurant spreads like wild fire. I have been waiting over an hour and a half for food. I dont even know if they took my order. THIS SUCKS!

Cool bar. Having board game is key. So-so beer list. Few cocktails, but the blackberry sour was great.

This is a great spot to enjoy with groups of friends and others. It has a high-quality range of drinks to offer and provides plenty of entertainment through board games, side-tables and standing bar high-tops for communal fun and friendly competition. The layout of the bar could be improved to make it more walkable, but other than that, Id recommend this spot and return again in the future.

Dont trust their happy hour, they just fake the prices and charge whatever they want even after complaining. We were usual clients, not anymore.Even worse, we tried to seat at the terrace and the waitress complained that they are not baby friendly

Such a fun place!! Also such a heavy pour which was greattttt!! I got a strawberry daiquiri frozen and it was so yummy. They also have games you can play by the booths which was super fun!

This is a very nice bar atmosphere and food is good. My only complaint is the music, the music comes from an outdated jukebox. You are serving a mixture of ages. The music sucks. We are here to have fun and play games not get sleepy with the music while trying play games. A large group of us come here and they all was complaining about the music. It is time to update the music with hooking up the speakers to a music app.

We have had food and drinks here more than a few times and the food is good. Happy hour prices are great. HOWEVER, if you sit at the bar the ONLY bartender that will actually act like they want you there and not completely ignore you is Mason. There have been multiple occasions when we actually ended up leaving without ordering due to the bartender ignoring us when they knew we were there and they were obviously not doing anything at all. We live in the neighborhood, tip well (both have industry experience), but will ONLY be back if we see Mason is bartending.

I L O V E this place! The food is good, the vibes are good, and the staff all seem like really good friends.Highly recommend the falafel burger, the jalapeño pizza, the spicy fries, or the nachos, but everything I’ve had has been so good! They also have an awesome array of frozen drinks which are great for the stupid heat we’ve had this summer.

Great place for a fun night out with music and board games. I came here on a date and we were able to bring our games though there are board games at the bar (i.e., Jenga, etc.). The kitchen closes early and they only have bar foods, but the restaurant immediately next door is amazing and the bar is perfect for grabbing a bite at other spots in the area.

Staff and patrons were very welcoming to my husband and me. I ordered their Barbecue Wings and they were delicious. We had a drink which was also amazing. Unfortunately I forgot the name. Good thing though is that I can go back to this memory on my IG 😚👍

The experience itself was awesome once we were able to grab some seats inside, in the back. It was very cozy and I loved that you can grab any board game you want and play. The entire staff was amazing. The drinks though were not very good. We were disappointed.
