Accompanied by a substantial group, we received satisfactory service. However, it is important to note that the establishment commands exorbitant prices. Despite this, the culinary offerings were of high quality. The macaroni and cheese stands out as an exceptional dish, surpassing any I have previously encountered.

Listen!! Im from Mississippi, so we like to taste alllll the seasonings in our food without it being salty. When I tell you this place did not disappoint, I mean just that!! Everything was 10/10, especially the food! My husband got the ribeye, and I got the filet. We shared the mac n cheese, broccoli, and mashed potatoes, and it was all delicious!! Nothing needed seasoning or sauce, not even my steak! My waiter was superb, very knowledgeable of the menu and drinks. The ambiance was very beautiful,chill, and romantic, which was what we were looking for. If Im ever in NYC again, this restaurant will definitely be one of the 1st places I return to. Everything was wonderful!

Fish dishes are outstanding, pasta dishes were not our table’s favorite, the person at our table who ordered steak lamented, not ordering fish.Dining room is beautiful!Back wait staff did a great job, our server didn’t spend a lot of time with us.

We originally had reservations at another restaurant that had a power outage. The owner called Frankie and Johnnies to see if they had room for us, and they said they did.It was a Tuesday night, we arrived about 5:30 and it wasnt crowded.After we were seated we were greeted rather cooly by our waiter. He brought us menus, water, coffee etc. Came back and took our orders. Later we observed another table next to ours that was greeted by theyre waiter and told what the specials were for the evening.Our waiter never mentioned specials and honestly acted as though we were an annoyance.This is a very expensive restaurant and for the price we paid for our meal you would expect the staff to be friendly and treat each patron with respect.The food was average. I had the salmon, my husband had the veal chop, which was exceptionally fatty. The side dish portions of broccoli and mashed potatoes were huge, enough for 2 or 3 people, so plan on sharing.

One of the best and most consistent steakhouses in the city. They have truly mouthwatering steaks cooked to perfection each and every time. This is one of my favorite places to go on a Friday evening because of not only the food but the live jazz music. The music is awesome and the food is perfectly executed. The service at the bar, however, has changed drastically from a year ago… Spiro, the bartender is overwhelmed by himself and we noticed he has become grumpy and really nasty. Such a shame for one of the great steakhouses in the city. There are many regulars such as myself who come for the food and jazz, and we all happened to have the same opinion— they really need new, more hospitable bartenders. We usually order four to five drinks, but the last few visits, we only had a glass of wine, due to his inattentiveness and nastiness when asking for even bread with our steaks!! Food, however, still A++ Atmosphere, pleasantly ambient… bartender, 0.Once in awhile, they have a different bartender who is much more personable— makes great drinks and actually smiles!

I give 4 stars only because the hostess was a bit rude. Gave a call earlier stating wed be running late, she said no problem. As we entered, we were greeted with rudness. Eye rolling at customers isnt a good look (the restaurant wasnt even packed, 5 tables max) and for a nice place, youd expect the hostess do be a bit more business casual rather than jeans with a tied tshirt in the back and sneakers, and a messy bun like she just woke up. Im not hating, but for steakhouses such as this, you want to be at least presentable, it doesnt matter if you are slow or over booked in business. Other than that, wonderful service from both servers, and the food was great. If they keep the seafood combo special throughout the year Id come by every day just to have that!! It was delicious especially the crab cake with a hashbrown like crunch to it! Omg!! Thats how good it was.

Don’t Dine Here. Visit at your own risk. I ordered a Caesar salad. No chef would have allowed it to be served. Left over limp lettuce SOAKED in dressing and that was it. My hamburger looked pretty with fresh lettuce, onion and tomato. The burger itself was VERY SALTY and I mean salty! My husband’s expensive steak was just o.k. He loves steak and when we got back to our hotel he threwq the leftovers away. They need to hire a chef!!! We dined on 12/26/2024. Be forewarned.

I love this place, Ive had absolutely wonderful customer service. The staff was constantly there to make sure that my needs were met and beyond. Atop that, the food and drinks were amazing. Not only did I enjoy a wonderful ribeye steak, and a Frankies gimlet, but after my meal I went down to the first floor and sat at the bar with the bartender Danny and had a great couple of hours talking and meeting with other New Yorkers and enjoying some quality draft beer. The atmosphere is wonderful and I cant highly recommend this place enough!

A great restaurant whith something for everyone. This restaurant is conveniently located just two block from Broadway. I recommend you make reservations to ensure you dont have to wait. From the hostesses to the servers to the kitchen staff everyone was very welcoming and knowledgeable. The atmosphere was family friendly. Our appetizers were perfect. Our entrées were cooked just as each of us ordered. This is a must do if you are staying in the Time Square area.

Had an amazing anniversary date here today! The staff was welcoming, our waiter was attentive, and the atmosphere was very romantic. Of course, the food was amazing; steak was perfectly cooked and wine was delicious! Would definitely dine here again!

With restaurant week coming to a close, we took a trip over to Frankie and Johnnie’s steakhouse. We had a table for 4 with reservations and no wait (the place never really got full so I feel like we didn’t need reservations).Pro: I have no complaints about the food because everything we had was beautifully presented and delicious. (I had shrimp linguini but I tried the pork chop and steak from my friends’ plates)Con: After the appetizer and main course, our waiter just disappeared. We sat there for maybe half an hour waiting for dessert. We flagged down another guy who brought it out in less than 5 minutes.

My husband took me there, for my pre birthday celebration and everything was top notch. The waiters and host were great. Thank you so much for the great experience.

Had high expectation for this restaurant. But it was a disappointment. We ordered Salmon and (2) New York Strip Steaks.The food were very salty, and lacked of quality. We had calamari as an appetizer and that was good!

My daughter and I ate at Frankie & Johnnie’s tonight. This was my first time, and it was wonderful! I had the bone in rib-eye. My daughter had the pasta. We loved it! I highly recommend this steakhouse. We will definitely come back when we return to New York.

Our fireside table with a roaring fire was so cozy on a cold night. The oysters were fresh. Crab cakes were unique and hard to describe but delish. All steaks were cooked as requested . The Chilean sea bass was scrumptious and the lamb shanks were ample and still have a midnight snack

Had a Marriott event there when it was closed. Had to swing back when it was open. Drinks and beefsteak tomatoes with home made mozzarella. 👍. Need to go back for dinner. On the way to see Billy Joel….

Great food, fantastic options if you mention to the servers that you do vegan/plant based. The only thing that seemed a bit off was the acoustic. We were in a larger group/private event upstairs and it was hard to talk and hear others as the room does not absorb sound very well. Amazing place, though! Thank you for having us!

I wish I had remembered to take pictures.First time here and would return. Bartender was great! Made me 2 excellent martinis. Hubby had an old fashion which was great too. There was a live 3 person band of soft music. It was perfect, not too loud etc.Ordered baby areal salad and Cesar salad. Both were so fresh, crisp. Excellent.8 oz filet ordered medium and came out cooked perfect.Hubby ordered the ribeye and was cooked as requested.Only subpar was the loaded baked potato. Good thing was the size was huge. The bad thing was it was super dry. It came with bacon and cheese on it. But then we were asked if we wanted butter and sour cream. They should probably put this on it as to have it melted into the potato and help with how dried it was. It also has zero salt to it as well. For this, is the reason for the 4 stars for food.Having said all of this - I would for sure come back in againThe atmosphere was super nice and just relaxing. We got there around 6 pm. I can not comment on upstairs as we sat at the bar. But the bar area was great. As we were leaving, people started coming in. So if you go there and it’s dead don’t let that deter you away.

What a beautiful dining experience. The service was punctual and quick while also full of knowledge. The food was absolutely delicious. Probably the best ribeye Ive had in this city. I would recommend pairing it with the peppercorn sauce and garlic mash. Not a fan of the bacon that was served but I did love the Caesar salad. I would recommend this steakhouse to anyone visiting over Wolfgang. It wasnt that busy either! 10/10

Food was really good. Steak was cooked to perfection I must say. Compared to other Steak houses, the service was a little slow and lagging. I think that they might have been understaffed. Our waiter was nice and friendly, but not too attentive. I have been to a lot of really good steak houses in this city being born and raised in the Bronx. I might give them another shot down the road.

Wonderful place to have a celebration of anything. They have great steaks, good bar and weekly live music. You must try their hot chocolate lava cake. I highly recommend them.

Absolutely loved this place, you might think its expensive but you get exactly what you pay for, never had a Porterhouse before and I doubt Ill ever have another as tasty as this was. I wish I knew the name of the guy keeping an eye on everything as he was brilliant, everyone was, it was the only time I felt really happy leaving the suggested tip...if I ever go to New York again we will be heading here 1st night....and the New York Cheesecake 😍

The food here was so salty and not tasty. We had the porterhouse steak and filet mignon. The lobster ravioli was sub par. The crab cakes were fishy. We complained to the waiter who later spoke to the manager who never showed up at our table. The waiter later returned and stated the debit card was declined 3 times. When we called the bank, the representative states it was never charged. A liar. He used a different terminal and accidentally charged us twice from a different table-but I thought the card was declined? Probably bring vindictive from the complaint. Please go to the other Frankie’s location where there is better food, service and better management for black customers.

Dinner and dessert was excellent. The staff and service was awesome, the ambiance was nice. My husband and I had such an amazing time we will be returning in October to celebrate my Birthday. The 28 day aged Ribeye steak WOW!!

Food and service was excellent. My wife and two kids thoroughly enjoyed the calm atmosphere and even my kids loved the steak which they normally rather have chicken and fries instead.

When in New York City on 37th street, Frankie and Johnnies is a Great place for steak but I had the chicken Parm and it was delicious too! We had multiple appetizers and they are large and sharable. Servers were great. We sat upstairs. The lamb chops looked great! Try the bacon appetizer. You will not be disappointed! They serve alcohol too!

Excellent service with a rare ability to deliver a totally fabulous dining experience. The food and cocktails were excellent both nights we dined there but the service was phenomenal. We dined there the first night because it was convenient. We returned because it was excellent. We enjoyed cocktails in the bar and interacting with the congenial and interesting bartenders. Dinner both nights was superb- beef and seafood. The key lime pie is of South Florida standard or better! Of particular mention was the above and beyond service from Daniel and others who made Frankie and Johnny’s a wonderful place we will definitely return to again and again. 5 stars and then some.

Great choice if you’re in for an excellent meal. Recent visit included fabulous ribeye and lamb chops for our dinner. Highly recommend! Our excellent server Danny was good fun and definitely a great asset for the establishment. All other staff were friendly and made our dinner so enjoyable. Not our first visit - and won’t be our last!

We came here for a dinner and were excited for a great meal. We started out with sharing thick cut bacon which was very good, very thick and tasty. My wife had the crab cakes to start out which was filled out fresh lump crab meat but had a bit too much mustard. The potatoes were a great addition and added a neat spin on the dish. I had the tomato and onion salad and was a bit different than I expected. The tomatoes were very good but the onion was plentiful and I had a portion of one along with the tomatoes. For our main dish I had the t-bone which was supposed to be medium but seemed to be overdone on the tenderloin side and was a bit fatty in the strip side. It also did. It have much seasoning on the steak. My wife had the surf and turf of a filet with shrimp scampi. There were three shrimp, very large and very good. The filet was perfectly cooked and seasoned well. For desert we shared a molten cake with vanilla ice cream. It was very good and cooked perfectly. The service was very good overall and the staff was very friendly. I felt it was a bit pricey overall and the food ok so that is why four stars.

Wow - You owe it to yourself to come here and eat. It was very pricey but well worth it all around. Due to Covid the place was completely empty and my wife and I had the entire restaurant to ourselves. The dining room has an amazing ambience very calm with low lighting. The Porterhouse for Two ranks as one of the best dinners I have ever had. GO HERE!!!!

One of the best restaurants I’ve ever been too. While it does cost the $$$ you can taste it in every bite. The bone in sirloin was the greatest steak I’ve had the pleasure of eating. The veal melted in the mouth. The old world dark wood aesthetic is what I want my Manhattan steakhouse to look like. This is a once ever five year kind of restaurant that I will rave about until I go back again.

Went to Franke and Johnnies for a birthday party. The server was very good so I hate to write a negative review but the food was just subpar. The appetizers, octopus, oysters Rockefeller and one other was not good. I ordered the ribeye rare and it was very under done with no crust at all. I tried my friends steak (porterhouse?) and it was cooked ok but the seasoning was off. I got to say for the money, there are better steakhouses to visit. Sorry, dont want to critical but you have to step your game up.

Delicious burger. One of the best Ive had in the city. Place has a definite old school vibe, but with amazing service. You dont have to be dressed to the 9s to feel welcome. Will definitely hit this place up next time Im in town.

Decent food, terrible service. Establishment has a lot of potential, but my latest experience was the final straw. Waiter confronted me about what I should tip - then accused me of tipping $5 for a meal which of course, is not true. Spoke to manager - wasn’t willing to do anything to rectify current experience - only that in future. So many other places to have a nice meal out that you get respected for spending money.

From the previous reviews, I was expecting a finer experience and flavour to the food, overall i was rather disappointed and left feeling very bored with the tastes.The staff are underwhelming and seem to swagger with a pompous arrogance, which is entirely false to their skill sets.Such a shame, that your establishment should hire such individuals. Their idea of silver service was so far off the mark, that I can only describe it as very amateurish and rather embarrassing to witness.Their cutlery was smeared and stained.The food was bland overall and the Fillet was comparable to a chunk of meat to be boiled to death before placing within a pie. To top off the experience a bottle of steak sauce was left on the dinner table to somehow improve the flavour of this piece of meat.My eight year old daughter said to me on leaving this establishment,Daddy do we have to go back there ever again?No darling we do not

Came here for restaurant week. Just a 5 min walk from Herald square. Old club style decor: simple, lots of wood, huge wine bottles for decoration, dimly lit. Very spacious and there are, I believe, 3 floors. Came here for restaurant week and had the spinach salad, surf and turf, and bread pudding. Everything was impeccable and tasted good. I had my steak well done and it was still juicy. Servers were older men with charming dry humor, which went with the old club feel. We loved it, I will come again !

Disappointing! Expected much more, especially at $168.00 for two. One ribeye steak (much smaller than my neighbor), server said my steak was medium and neighbors was rare. One Lamb chops, one order of very thick stalks of stringy Asparagus (should be narrow and straight like an arrow), 2 bowls of Lobster Bisque we drank the tap water and no dessert.Perhaps because my wife and I travel a lot and are both trained cooks and have a discerning palate has influence on this post (we gave consideration), but for top price top quality and preparation should be applied.Not a $168.00 meal by any stretch of the imagination.

NY Strip Steak is mouth-watering and cooked to perfection. I don’t think I will ever find the combination of a perfect steak, friendly service and warm atmosphere anywhere else.

Steaks were excellently prepared, sides potatoes au gratin and lyonaiss were large and very good. Classic salad was very good, but skimpy for $13. The service was adequate but not as attentive as I would expect at this level of price point. I should not have to ask for refills etc. at $200, especially when it is not busy. Very conveniently located on west 37th.

I have been coming here for years. With delicious food and fantastic service, Frankie and Johnnies has landed on my top steak houses for dinner in NYC. If Sal is working and you happen to get him as your waiter, consider yourself lucky. I will continue to come back.

The steak was somewhat over cooked. I ordered medium well but the center part was still very red. Their steak sauce was nice.

Used to work across the street so this was the go to place for after work food and drinks! Was quite hooked to the pasta primavera in pink sauce (not on the menu but they made it upon request). It was perfect every time!

It was my first time in this restaurant for lunch. We ordered bunch of appetizers including Salmon tartare and they were all delicious. We were five of us at the table and we all ordered filet mignons and we all loved it. Great wine selections and awesome espresso. Definitely recommend it for lunch or dinner.

Had our office party here , upstairs and the food was amazing as well as the wait staff.

The entire staff was warm and friendly. We were running a bit late, and they were accommodating. We were seated as soon as we got there. Sal, our server was friendly and nice.I had the garlic mashed potatoes and the salmon. Both were quite delectable. I will definitely go back and recommend it to others.

Amazing and tasty place! Our dinner with an excellent medium rare porterhouse steak (actually, it was the best I have tried so far) and good wine was a success! Theres also a superb cheesecake here, just the way I love it.

The steak was wonderful. Hardly ever had such a good steak. BUT - and this is a big one: we were seated upstairs by the entrance way. A quiet table. Unfortunately I dont recall the waiters name but he thought the world of himself and hardly took notice of us. Maybe because we were spending less than others I do not know but another waiter brought our food and we kindly asked another waiter to serve it since ours didnt show and the food was getting cold. After cleaning our table we waited another fifteen minutes or so to be asked if we liked desert or coffee. In the end another waiter served our coffee once again. The end of the deal was that the waiter put down the tip handwritten of which he thought we had to give. We refused for lack of a good service and gave the amount we deemed appropriate. We may be tourists, that does not mean we deserve less.

Its a decent steak house without the ridiculous wait time / reservation compared to other places. Appetizers are prepped slightly differently compared to other steakhouse, and they are good. Steaks are simple dry aged, high seared, and no butter. Place has a comfortable / warm classic steakhouse feel.

This was the most exciting and pleasurable meal we shared with my adult children. They finally got to experience proper service at a high-end restaurant in NYC, my hometown.We dont get service and food like this in Central Ohio. They all were enthralled about everything this restaurant has to offer. Plus being served a delightful meal in John Barrymores house.

Good restaurant choice for steaks and other American fare. Attentive wait staff, good food and a mellow, classy atmosphere. There are plenty of good restaurants in Midtown Manhattan, and the choice was due to close proximity to our hotel, but still a good choice for dinner.

We went for my mother in laws birthday and we had a phenomenal time. Great selections of Champagne and wines as well. My wife and I split the Ribeye for two and delicious selections of sides and the services started out great but as it got busier they fell behind but overall great experience loved the ambiance.

Ordered a dessert that they never brought, so we went to magnolia bakery and had cupcakes instead.

This classic New York City steakhouse is beyond incredible! Their steaks, sides, salads, and martinis are incredible but the real plot twist is how good the chicken parm is. I’d give them 50 stars if I could and cannot wait to recommend to our clients!

A great place to eat! Been there 2 times. The first time, i had the ribeye steak, it was delicious and cooked exactly as ordered! The second time, i had the cheese-burger and it was perfect!

Service was great. Steak was pretty good. Should have gotten filet like my wife, the strip had a bit too much marble for my liking. Sides of broccoli and fries were huge, desserts were fantastic. Ambience was ok. I could probably give this place a 5 but I’d be lying but it is a solid 4. At more than $120/ person I’m not sure if the overall value was there.

Great food atmosphere. They have a wonderful selection of wines and spirits, and Spiro, the bartender, was a true pro.

I would highly recommend eating here for dinner! The filet was fantastic! We also ordered Oysters Rockefeller and Creamed Mashed Potatoes. Everything tasted wonderful, and the servers were very attentive. We enjoyed the oldies romantic music playing in the background.

I liked the steakhouse. The food was amazing. The service was great. The only thing was that the sound inside was just too loud to hear someone easily across the table.

We came here as a group after work, about 18 of us. Had the room in the back with our own wait staff, the service was attentive and impeccable. For starters we had tuna, huge slabs of bacon, mozzarella and tomatoes and more. The main dishes were terrific, everyone loved their steaks and those ordering fish also said it was excellent. The side dishes of potatoes, mushrooms and creamed spinach were also amazing. This is a great steakhouse!

I just came from eating at Frankie and Johnnie’s and it was the worst steak I have ever eaten.The fat was drowning from the play.The service was horrible.I would not recommend this place.There are much better steakhouses to eat at.

I dont usually post but we had such a good experience at Frankie & Johnnies (37th St NYC) that I felt compelled to write a review. We had a 13 person wedding party staying nearby and contacted the restaurant to make an arrangement. The Papadopoulos brothers were very pleasant and responsive, setting us up in a private dining room upstairs. On the night of our event, everything went according to plan. The music was pleasant, the kitchen was superb and the wait staff were attentive. All of us dine out regularly so I was surprised to hear so many comments around the table about the high quality of the food and service. Thanks guys! You did a great job for us and well be sure to come back again.

Got the aged ribeye on the bone for two rare, oysters Rockefeller, creamed spinach, mushroom and onions and creme brulee. Oysters, Creamed spinach and the steak were specials.Steak was served raw not rare, but my friend liked it so who cares. Decent service. Just amazed that QM is charging the same price for much better foodBill came out to $225. For the same price you could just go to Quality Meats which is ten times better.

The odd thing is I was in a hotel down the street When the assistant at the front desk recommended this above the second name I gave him. I was unsure when I looked at the menu, it appeared simple. We ordered Shrimp, Salmon and a Sirloin. My 12yo and I both shared the steak and shrimp with smiles. While my wife happily devoured the broiled Salmon. The sides were all prepared perfectly and generous. If I have a chance to return I wont think twice about a return visit. Our waiter was turning double duty and look forward to seeing him again also.

This was my 1st time at Frankie & Johnnies but it will not be my last!!!. Our waiter Adrian was very attentive and patient. We had lots of questions about how items were served etc. Drinks were excellent and the steak was awesome. I shared a porterhouse for two, it was cooked to perfection!! Dessert was delicious ...we shared bread pudding and cheese cake. They were both great. Its a little off the beaten path but well worth the extra steps. The ambiance was very nice too.

I sent this text to someone when I sat down at the bar:Im eating by myself and I think I fell in love. Frankie n Johnnies Steakhouse. Glorious. No one here and I just ordered a $25 burger. I think its going to be awful but Spiro the bartender is awesome.My prediction wasnt 100% correct. The burger was serviceable but Spiro was definitely awesome. Cant wait to go back.

Restaurant was very quiet for a Saturday evening. Maybe its a business type restaurant. Only three occupied tables including ourselves. I had the seafood pasta which was great but small portion. My companions had the steak which they enjoyed. I still think the food was priced rather high!

This is a nice old fashioned, old school steak house right in midtown. When my friend and I went during the week, we got a table right away which is nice.Its very dark in there so it was kind of difficult to go through the menu. We had to use the flashlight on our phones in order to see.We ordered the porterhouse for two, Frankie & Johnnies salad and a bottle of wine. I think the bill was a little over 200 which isnt too horrible. I feel like for old school steakhouses, thats kind of ok price.The Frankie & Johnnie salad was so basic. I dont see whats different from this and some other basic salad. You can also tell that the lettuce wasnt really washed. I really hate that when you can taste the earthiness of the lettuce.The porterhouse was good. It was slightly burnt on the outside but inside was so soft. It also had a really nice flavor because it was seasoned well.

Love this place. Why? They are doing their part in keeping the semi-formal, dark wood, low-light, traditional steakhouse concept alive. And they do it very well.Our group of four had reservations, showed up right on time, and our table was ready. Nice. On our way to our table we encountered an immediate problem.There was a large table, maybe of 14 people that were being extremely loud and obnoxious, obviously had been there a while, and had much to drink.I told the staff that we were headed for the door unless they took care of this. Someone got the manager right away, who then went to the table and had some words with them. Not a peep came from that table after his visit. Dont know what he said but it worked. Such a pleasure to have a competent person minding the store.The meal was almost perfect. We got the special bone-in ribeye for two. Strongly suggest having that, if it is offered when you are there. Also, make sure you get the chocolate molten dessert.Will go back as soon as I can.

Great NYC steakhouse - octopus appetizer was awesome

Absolutely excellent. The food was fantastic. I had a ribeye med-rare which was cooked to perfection. The sides were a good portion to share at about 2 sides per 3 people. And for dessert, the bread pudding was outrageously good. What made this place really stand out however was the service. Not only were they attentive and efficient, but each server has their own personality about them that made the night feel like we were having dinner at a friends house rather than a restaurant. Will definitely be coming back in the future.

Cocktails after work in a classic NYC steakhouse.

This Steakhouse was phenomenal. The porterhouse was properly cooked at medium rare. The creamed spinach, the Lyonnaise potatoes and the fried onions were great also. The wait staff was very attentive, friendly and accommodating. These guys are true professionals. Cant wait till my next visit.

Stopped in one night as I had 4 hours to kill. Sat at the bar. Had an amazing meal, the bartender was AMAZING. I was the only one there for most of the night so I got extra attention, we talked food and work and travel. I love talking to strangers and hearing their story so it was great to listen to the bartender and learn about the Ukraine. The bill was a bit of a sticker shock but I would have paid double for the amount of fun and good food I had. That being said, the price did not deter me from tipping 30% for great food and conversation.

They cook steak 🥩 to perfection. Crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. We had PorterHouse and RibEye steaks to share with 5 people. Spent under $700.

Food was great, steak was huge but the bill was too. I orderded it medium (and was asked again and verified, medium), but at most it was medium rare. It was late so I just ate it. Good flavor but it was pretty much raw and gooey in the middle. I prefer my steaks to at least have the consistency of meat and not bubblegum.

The service was terrible for the price. Friend of mine got a wrong steak, improperly cooked and a wrong beverage. After all that they added the wrong steak to the receipt.

Staff was very courteous and had one of the better Porterhouses Ive had in my lifetime. A not-so-hidden gem with a very comfortable atmosphere. Highly recommended to any respectable omnivore.

Tilapia is amazing so is their creamed spinach. Service is top notch. Would definitely go back. Highly recommend

Was told by some old locals that this was an absolute staple if I wanted an amazing steak dinner in NYC and the staff at Frankie and Johnnies did not disappoint. From the amazing bacon appetizer to the ribeye steak all was cooked to perfection. I look forward to visiting again some time in the future!

Love the venue -- it is in a low key, historical townhouse. The ambience is more intimate than many other midtown streak houses. Food is solid and service nice.

One of the best steak Ive had. Everyone in my party agreed. The hostess was friendly. Thus the reason for the 2nd star.But everything else...The waiter had an attitude and very stuck up.2 people in my party including me, found foreign materials in the side dishes we had ordered. When it was brought to the waiters attention, he treated it like it was nothing as if it happens all the time. No apology or comp. Then had the audacity to charge a full 20% tip to our $1100 bill that included the 2 dishes with foreign materials in the food. We paid the bill anyway because we didnt want to ruin our evening.None of us will ever go back. There is a reason why Keens is always full but this place always has tables available.

This was a very good restaurant with great atmosphere. They have an incredible wine list. There is a bar on the first floor. Wait staff was friendly and attentive. Service was quick and I was there on a Friday evening. Food was very good to excellent. The filet mignon, medium well, was tender enough to cut with a fork. For dessert, the bread pudding was good and different (I usually take a chocolate dessert). I highly recommend F & Js and would eat there again.

The steak and service are all sub par. Our steak was over cooked, and we had to pull someone to the side on two occasions to ask for refills on our water. After we brought our concerns of the cook of the steak to the attention of the staff, they argued that it was because we ordered the porterhouse which is typically over cooked on one side. Unfortunately, our steak was overcooked on both sides...medium well to well done on the filet side and medium at best on the other. Ive been to many restaurants around the world, and this is the first to argue about a steak. If you pay $200+ for a meal, it should be prepared to your request. The side dishes were mediocre at best. The one positive is the shrimp cocktail. I will not recommend this place to others and will never return. When you have to ask to have your table cleared after staring at the wait staff for over ten minutes, you know there is a problem. Save your efforts and go to a better steak restaurant...one that provides better service and food.

I love F & Js. Everything is great, the service, the food, the food, the food, I cant say it enough. I wish I had pics, but as I said before..... the food is very good
