Craving ramen late night? This is the place to go!Location: It is located along 49th street. There few seating inside with bar seating. The interior has a Japanese vibe.Service: they are super nice. We were seating at the bar first but when the table is open they moved us.Food: This is honest review, the ramen noodles was great you can choose from thin and wavy. I chose wavy. But the broth was bland, we even asked for soy sauce because it was lacking flavor. The broth has that ramen broth consistency but me and my friend both thought that there is not flavor.BLACK RAMEN: this is what I got, again the broth does not have too much flavor. The noodles are well cooked and the pork was soft.RED RAMEN: same as the black but spicy. Even it is spicy the broth is lacking flavor.DUMPLING: the pork inside is juicy and delicious, I wish the broth on the ramen was the same.Price rating: 7/10. It was a typical ramen price.I will come back and try again. Hopefully they will add more seasoning to the ramen.

Location: Located off the street and a part of town that gave us to a lot of Japanese clientele, this was either fine, and open late. That was the key thing. The late night. Ramen is maybe one of my favorite things. Too many years in Tokyo I suppose. 😂Ambiance/Service: The ambience is typical Izakaya style. Theres a few tables and a good bar. I love sitting at bars to eat Ramen. There are lots of handwritten Japanese signs all over the room with various foods being offered. Again, typical Mama Pop style . The service was decent, nothing particularly special, but nothing poor either. The place was reasonable busy at about 1:00 in the morning. All good and frankly, authentic.Menu: again, typical Izakaya style, with various kinds of Ramen, Gyoza, ippin ryobi, and certainly some surprises I dont know about on the walls. It catered to an obvious Japanese clientele.Food: I got the Black Garlic Ramen with fresh Gyoza. DAMN. I mean damn. Goodness. Listen, Ive literally had ramen all over the world including hundreds of times in Tokyo. This was very good. Really. The Chashu was superb. I actually wanted to get another bowl, it was so good, but I did not have room. The gyoza was also excellent. Served in traditional Japanese style with the thin skin and fried on one side, Id loved it. I havent had gyoza like that in a long time.Bottom line would I go back? For sure. Ive marked my map and saved it to favorites in case I go back to New York City, Which I will. 😆 Get it!!!!!

Ramen was average. The server with the Singaporean/Malaysian accent was perpetually loud and rude. When asked if it’s possible to swap or remove the ground pork topping, she replied rather loudly and rudely. It’s the first time ever that a ramen place can’t accommodate such small request. She was also loudly complaining about working there so it impacted the whole vibe; I felt bad for her co-workers.

First time to experience eating and dine in here. The ambience is nice, the servers are very good at what they are doing, professionals. I had the red/ spicy ramen. It was great, very rich broth, the umami. The only thing is the bar was set highly by another ramen place. But Nishida Sho-ten is almost there. Definitely coming back to try the other variations of the ramen. Padayon!

4.5/5⭐️Nishida Sho-TenChashu Taco - 5⭐️ If A Japanese, a Korean, and a Spanish made a baby, this be one juicy baby.Chashu Buns - 3⭐️ The chashu is charred, lean and sweet. However, lacks the fattiness I like. The cheese and mayo is a nice twist to it. If you eat grilled oysters with cheese and mayo, you know what I mean.Karaage - 3⭐️Juicy thick meat and fatty! (I still make it better)Kushiyaki - 1⭐️ Sweet glazed. Nothing special. Buffet food quality. Goes well with rice.White Ramen - $14.Broth - 4/5. Good clean flavor. The onions give a nice crunchy texture with the broth.Chashu - 5/5. Same as pork buns but has fat on it. Would prefer more fattiness but it’s tender, sweet, charred and delicious.Noodles - 3/5. thin noodle. Gets soggy quickly.Black (Garlic) RamenSide Notes:My partner had this bowl. It’s better than the White Ramen.Compared to Setagaya, it has more depth in black garlic broth, which I had on Monday.

Honestly, just OK ramen. We had the tan tan and the miso pork and the flavour profile of the broth in both were one dimensional and left much to be desired. The atmosphere is also just OK, as the interiors are looking a bit physically run down. On the plus, the kara’age was pretty good and the service was fast, but some of the interactions between the boss and the staff were unpleasant to witness, let alone experience first-hand.

After sorting through some ramen reviews, a friend and IK stumbled upon Nishida Sho-Ten as our dinner pick. The Food: I went with the Black Ramen. Which had a rich garlic pork broth that was very delicious! The noodles were cooked perfectly, and the pork chashu was nice and tender. All the ingredients paired very well together to make a delicious bowl. Portion size was good as well. Not too small, not too big. Overall meal tasted very authentic and traditional, which is a huge plus. The Service: Service was great! The waitress that was with us was very nice and friendly. Food was brought out in a timely manner and no issues with the overall service. The Atmosphere: Nice, small and cozy ramen spot. The decor kept it simple and traditional. Nota lot of tables inside, so it can get very busy and wait times can be long, but there is also a bar area where you can go too if you dont want to be seated at a table.Overall, a 4/5! Very solid ramen spot to try. Even with a long wait, Id say its worth it.

Very mediocre ramen. Given how good Japanese food is overall in Manhattan, I honestly think this place is below average in NY.What’s funny is when I was paying for my dinner, their waiter looked at me intensely and said come back here again. This was a great find when I had a friend in town from Boston who was craving ramen. I ordered the miso ramen on the recommendation of the server, and it really hit the spot - the broth was thick and flavorful; toppings were generous and filling; and the noodles were cooked firm and al dente. The ramen bowls are priced well at $14-16, and best of all you can get draft Asahi Super Dry for $5 a glass. This place is great value, with efficient and entertaining service, and Ill be back to try more of their ramen.

Wintertime can be the greatest time to have a nice bowl of ramen. Ramen is a Japanese dish with a translation of pulled noodles. It consists of Chinese wheat noodles served in a meat or fish-based broth, often flavored with soy.I ordered the black kakuni ramen ma-yu oil pork with egg, onion scallion. bok-choy in chicken and pork broth. The ramen had so much great flavor was tender and perfectly cooked, the broth was so perfectly cooked. The boiled egg was amazing very soft and tender. If you are thereafter 11 PM you can get extra noddle.I also share some appetizer with a few friends, fry chicken and octopus with wasabi sauces. The fried chicken was very tender and very delicious. The small restaurant can hold about 12 in the main dining area and 9 at the bar area. I was seated immediately around 6pm and had my ramen bowl served to me within 5 minutes of ordering! I ordered the red ramen. I was not impressed by the ramen; the charsu cuts, although large, were on the drier side with little flavoring. The toppings only included green onions and 2 sheets of seaweed. Sadly, the broth was tasty but lacked umami. Portions were appropriate and price point was $15.The service was great as they turned around the tables in lightening speed. Clean and nicely decorated.

Food here is great, service is okay, atmosphere wasn’t the best. I ordered the black ramen and a friend ordered the red ramen. Both were excellent. The pork had too much fat in it though, which is not my preference. I prefer lean meat. We ordered 3 different appetizers; pork dumplings which were the best, fried chicken, and octopus balls. All were good, but again the dumplings are a must!! I also got some beer which was okay. The service lady was nice, but it took a while to get any service. To be fair, it was around 10:00 PM which is apparently their shift change time and apparently the incoming waiter came late which slowed things down. The shop has authentic look to it and the vibe is great, but the AC was NOT on! We were melting in sweat inside!! They told us the reason AC isn’t on is because it brings bad smell because of the ongoing construction! They should at least bring some fans! It was hot and humid and awful feeling!

We randomly came here to fix a late night craving for Japanese ramen. The place itself is small, cozy and clean. Walking in we were immediately greeted by our waitress and seated. We had meant to start off with the Japanese buns and Takoyaki, and have the Salmon teriyaki and the chicken ramen as entrees. Everything came out at the same time, which was odd. We didnt mind, but its something to note. The takoyaki was FANTASTIC. Crispy and flavorful without being overly salty. The Japanese buns were alright. Nothing bad but nothing spectacular. The same could be said about both entrees. Presentation and texture-wise, both were amazing. Everything was cooked perfectly. The only issue we both faced was the amount of flavor and salt. The salmon was VERY salty, yet the ramen seemed to be lacking in either salt or flavor. Really bizarre. The ramen also had a LOT of bean sprouts, which I personally dont mind, but I would prefer either more chicken or noodles.I should mention that we also ordered the Ozeki One Cup Daiginjo sake. I thought it was okay. It wasnt really noteworthy, but my lady didnt enjoy it at all. Sake is a matter of preference of course, but Ive had much better sake in other restaurantsOur waitress was fantastic. She was efficient and friendly and gave us plenty of time to order our food. The pricing here is also very reasonable considering the portions given.I have mixed feelings about Nishida Sho-Ten. Overall I think its good but nothing spectacular. Seeking an authentic Japanese dining experience in NYC, my colleagues and I stumbled upon this gem. I indulged in the Takoyaki and the Red Ramen with a spicy pork broth, garnished with onions, scallions, bok choy, a marinated egg, seaweed, and two slices of succulent pork chashu. It’s rare to encounter such genuine Japanese flavors stateside; the last time I savored ramen this delectable was in Japan itself. The Red Ramen boasted a robust yet balanced spiciness, complemented by tender pork and a flawlessly cooked egg. The Takoyaki, reminiscent of my memories from Japan, is a must-try for octopus lovers. I wholeheartedly endorse this eatery and anticipate returning on my next NYC visit.

We got red & chicken ramen, and the red ramen was so oily it was unbearable. The chicken ramen was somewhat better but the chicken looked like it was pulled straight from a Costco $5 rotisserie chicken. We were like the only Asian customers there lol, this place is mostly frequented by.. non.. Asians. And the most Japanese thing about this place is the bidet they have in the bathroom. I noticed this place because there was a line outside its door. In New York City this means a lot. While chatting to the people in the line, they told me this line would be as crowded at 2 AM as it is now. After I finish my work I went in to grab a late lunch. Not only was the service excellent the food tasted beyond this world. The server had big smile on her face and recommended what I could have. I enjoyed the food a lot. What was most impressive was that she would wipe every single cutlery before she served it to me. That is a nicest gesture I have ever seen a serving staff perform.

My visit to Nishida Sho-ten had its highs and lows. The Tan Tan Ramen was rich and flavorful, with well-cooked noodles. The spicy chicken broth with its subtle nuttiness was a welcome twist, and the combination of bean sprouts, scallions, and ground pork added a satisfying contrast of textures. The homemade chili oil provided an extra kick that elevated the dish. The option to choose between thin and wavy noodles was a nice touch, allowing for personal preference. The Octopus Wasabi was a delightful surprise. However, the service fell short. Our orders were mixed up due to the server not writing them down, and our drink orders were forgotten. While the food showed promise, the service mishaps affected the overall experience.

I don’t get ramen much, but got the Chicken Ramen ($14) here and gotta say this was reaaal good! The chicken broth reminded me of the soup that my mom makes at home cause I could actually taste some chicken in there. The broth is more clear as a result of this compared to the usual broth like for tonkatsu/miso ramen. I did find it too oily for my liking though, but overall one of the best ramen I’ve ever had just for how different it is from the offerings of other ramen places. The egg was nice and soft as well (egg yolk perfectly done & egg white was soft to taste unlike the usual places). I usually don’t eat the egg in ramen cause it just takes too salty or like regular egg, but I wiped this whole bowl clean (ramen, egg, chicken & all) and that’s when I knew. The place is pretty small, can fit 4 separate parties at the tables (2 sets of tables can fit 2 people each, the other 2 sets of tables can fit about 4 people each). There’s also a counter top that can fit about 8 people so I don’t suggest coming with a large group. My friend and I got here right when there was a table for 2 open so we lucked out, but during our time there, we saw so many groups come and go so they are really busy! The lady who served us was a one woman team taking all the orders, serving and cleaning. I don’t know how she does it, but thought it was pretty amazing. My friend got the Miso Ramen ($16), which she also thought was good. She liked that the chashu in it wasn’t fatty and was also a decent portion compared to another place we had tried a while back.As an appetizer, we ordered Takoyaki ($8 for 6pcs), which was done pretty well, but honestly I could barely taste any octopus inside. It tasted more like batter so would’ve been better if there was more octopus.Still giving this place a 5 star review cause of that Chicken Ramen that was 💯. (I also heard a handful of customers mention they come everyday so you know what that says about the place!)

I’ve been to Nishida many times before, but unfortunately yesterday me and my friends went there and the service was as rude as it gets. The lady was constantly pressuring us to order, wasn’t in the mood to answer our questions, kept rushing us to get out of the restaurant when we stood up to get our jackets. It was a bit embarrassing to look around and see people looking at us while she told me to get my coat, which I was about to, but was also handing my friend’s belongings to her, while she kept point to the coats we hung upon our heads, we were trying to fit in the small space and do it as quick as possible. When my friend clicked on customize the type, she went ahead and said that it was either 18, 20 or 22% because it was easier this way. Unfortunately, due to this type of service I feel uncomfortable going back to Nishida, and will avoid another embarrassment in this location, and I will not add my name to this complaint because of the embarrassment I still feel about the loud rushing in front of other customers, and staff.

Somehow managed to be the worst ramen experience in NYC (Ive been here almost 10 years).Mostly poor management that grossly understaffed the restaurant, making the whole experience feel like pulling teeth. They had one server doing the orders, bar, and takeout orders for the entire restaurant....on a Saturday night at 7:30PM...prime time dinner. It was not like we went on a Tuesday night at 5PM and they were understaffed. There is literally no excuse to be so understaffed when you know in your heart of hearts that there will be a influx of customers. I might as well have gone back to the kitchen and cooked my own ramen and it would have been faster and more pleasant. The whole time, there were delivery guys coming into the tiny restaurant to pick up orders, holding the door open for cold air to come in.The ramen itself was decent. Black ramen. Tasted as ramen should. That was the only highlight. The managed to forget to bring my extra noodles, meat, and egg that I ordered, then tried to charge me for them. I pulled out the photo that I took to remind them that they had not brought those items out and they removed the charges. The onigiri is criminal. They charge $5 for it and its literally a rice ball with a flake of salmon filling. Rice was tasteless.

At like 2:40 the waitress came and told us we needed to pay because they closed at 3, which was not on the doors. She told us they dont allow checks to be split or two separate payment methods at the end of our meal instead of when we sat down, and while we were rushed to pay we didnt even notice being overcharged until leaving. We were brought out a bowl of cucumbers we never ordered before anything else came out, and assumed since we didnt ask for them they were complimentary but for some reason she still charged us for food we did not order.

Upon entering the restaurant, we were yelled at by a middle-age waitress to keep the door closed (it was summer and we werent holding the door open for more than a couple of seconds as the entry was clogged with people). She then looked at our child and warned us loudly that no sharing of ramen is allowed between family members. That was an odd greeting, and certainly an odder demand given that this is not a buffet place. We had a small bag of groceries, which she eyed briefly and commanded that no outside food is allowed. Another strange greeting for a first time customer. Given how she made us feel, I will definitely not return to this restaurant. On the plus side, what drove me to visit the store in the first place panned out - the food was delicious.

It is there to facilitate the needs of hungry customers, and get people drunk at night with an array of sake cups.°Around since the second half of 2014, this tiny ramen bar specializes in kakuni ramen. Kakuni uses a tonkotsu, or pork bone, base for the soup with special square slices of thick pork belly that give it the name. You can get this in three versions, all color coded. The white is the standard soup base, while black uses ma-yu garlic oil, and red delivers a small heat bump. All three versions use thin al dente noodles and start off with a high garlic quotient.
