This is a beautiful space, and I can imagine it is even better during the holidays with all of the lights up.We did not have reservations but were lucky to get seated in the outside covered patio area immediately. Our waitress was pleasant, efficient, and ensured everything flowed smoothly. The food was good. Both the cheeseburger sliders and wings were tasty; the burgers came out around medium temp; next time, I would request a more well-cooked temperature (just personal preference). Dessert (cookie skillet) was delicious as well.I loved exploring the building as well; so much to see and lots of interesting details. The place was definitely busy this Saturday night, and I didnt see a lot of free tables or spaces at the bars. There were many more options on the menu I would like to try and will definitely be back again.Definitely recommend make a reservation and checking this place out, especially at the holiday season.
Came here for their Christmas decorations and it did not disappoint!!! It’s impossible to get reservations so we just came as a walk-in—there was a line (Saturday afternoon) but we ended up only having to wait for about 20 mins. Inside was crowded!! We got lucky and found two seats available at the bar.The decorations here are OVER THE TOP!!! So many different Christmas decor everywhere you can imagine. Their cocktails are really good as well, and our bartender Zach was awesome! Didn’t eat a meal here but did try the Chicken Dumplings which was good.
This restaurant and bar is a really cool place to hang out with friends or enjoy a date night. Tons of cozy corners to enjoy, while still being apart of the atmosphere.Upon entering the restaurant there is a host or hostess to check in, seat you, or suggest the bar area to have drinks. Our party of four chose the bar area. The bartender was very cool, loved the drinks that were suggested. Really enjoyed the bar.The Halloween display is insane! Be prepared to get spooked it really is that cool, and realistic.Highly recommend checking out Oscar Wilde before they take down the Halloween display.
Had a great experience, we reserved a seat a month in advance which I recommend to have a more relaxed vibe. Really enjoyed the holiday music (remix of classic songs) and the decor obviously. Probably the most festive interior Ive seen in NYC. The Mama Claus Christmas cocktail was smokey and fruity, very good flavors. And the truffle gnocchi + broccolini were seasoned well, with fried herbs and garlic. The staff were friendly, and shoutout to the staff who took multiple well procured photos of my partner and I. 10/10 experience, we are excited to reserve for next Halloween.
Came here on Xmas Eve and this was a holiday celebration. This place was decked out in Christmas decor galore from the ceiling to the floor. Just surreal when u walk in. The vibe was festive and the food and drinks on point.🎄🎁🍸🍹
Great locale, especially for the holidays. Food and drinks quality is there and does not disappoint. Only reason they get 4 starts is because service can be slow due to how crowded the place is, ratio of staff to patrons isn’t adequate. Other than that, really awesome place!
Came here for the afternoon tea on Halloween weekend. The decoration and atmosphere is amazing. They truly go all out for the holidays. The afternoon tea set was good, some small finger sandwiches and the usual desserts. Very cute and highly recommend for special occasions. The only thing I’d note is that it is loud since so it doesn’t really go with the afternoon tea vibe.
This is a happening place. We had dinner here during Christmas and the place was decked out. I dont know if this is always the case, but they had a DJ there playing some fairly loud music. It made me wonder if this was their schtick and that the food would be bad. However we were pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. I had the Lobster Risotto, my daughter had the muscles and my wife had the Branzino. The cocktails were fun too.
This place is truly beautiful with this year’s Christmas themed decorations is a must see! The music is great, the staff was great, the drinks and food was great. Best Place I’ve been this Christmas.
A one of a kind NYC bar and restaurant experience. A true must visit! The bar was fully decorated for Halloween and then cocktail menu delivered inventive and unique cocktails to match the spooky atmosphere. Reservations are recommended as it can get quite crowded even during the week.
The place has a beautiful interior which is definitely very unique. The drinks were expensive but with a generous amount of alcohol. I had Onlyfans cocktail and it was very tasty. However, the service was definitely slacking. After our drinks arrived, we were forgotten and even to get a check we had to catch the waitress. Nevertheless, as we were a group of 6 and everyone ordered a drink, we had to pay 20% large group fee so every drink was over 22$. Yet they were not able to split our bill when we asked.
I came here for the amazing decorations and to grab a drink to check them out. Due to the rainy day, I decided to also eat here. The Sunday menu situation is pretty confusing as to what time you can order from which menu and which parts of the menu you can order from. I am definitely in no way a difficult customer, but I did need clarification on this. The waitress seemed very annoyed about this. She was one of the least friendly waitresses I’ve had in a long while. Unfortunately I had a similar experience at one of their other locations. I will say, however, she was quick to refill water, bring the check, etc. the wait for food was LONG, even though they weren’t busy and it was in between brunch and dinner time. The food was great, as were the drinks. And obviously the awesome decorations!
What an experience! Not having reservations, we decided to test our luck at the bar where we found two seats in the corner. The service was efficient, friendly, and professional. We ordered the calamari as an appetizer, which came with pickled onions. It was crunchy but not too firm or chewy, highly recommend! For main courses, we ordered mussels and truffle Gnocchi. The mussels weren’t a highlight, but the sauce was good(not too spicy). The truffle gnocchi was excellent, with a consistent rich sauce and evenly cooked gnocchis. Would highly recommend you give it a try.The old fashioned was good, my mom asked for it less sweet and the barman delivered on the request perfectly.Overall, this place is great with a nice setting and good music that’s not overwhelming the experience. I would recommend a reservation in advance, or trying your luck at the bar if you are just passing by.
This used to be one of my favorite spots in NYC because the atmosphere is extraordinary year-round. Their holiday decorations are absolutely amazing and the florals in the summer months really make for an awesome experience.Over the years, the service has gone downhill and last night was disappointing. The server last night was not kind and upset from the start. I understand the holidays are busy but her vibe was mean.About 30 mins into our time, someone near us was aggressively escorted out by security and, during the altercation, shattered a large amount of glass around us and on us. They were large buckets of water carafes for the tables that hit the floor. While I understand this wasn’t the venue’s fault, management never came over to check on us. They cleaned up, but there was still glass left at our feet and my jacket was ripped. It was a frustrating experience, especially given how much I enjoy this place. I really hope they improve how they handle situations like this in the future.
Oscar Wilde is a fabulous place to celebrate the holidays. We came to see the Halloween decorations. We had a couple of drinks and ordered lots of different appetizers. I tried the “Who You Gonna Call” Halloween cocktail and ordered two of the Sinful Sangrias. The Siouxsie Sioux was also really good and refreshing. I thought Oscar Wilde was going to be a restaurant with amazing decor and mediocre food, but the food did not disappoint. We loved the Truffle Arancini and Wilde Wings with Sweet Chili Sauce so much that we ordered a second serving of each. We also enjoyed the Buffalo Cauliflower, Crispy Calamari, Chicken Dumplings, and Pork Belly Buns. Also, I appreciated the audio recording playing in the bathroom. I look forward to returning with a group of friends again. We spent about $100 per person, but we ordered a lot of food and drinks.Tip: Make a reservation a couple of weeks in advance. The place was packed when we left.
Great vibes. Christmas decor was filled in the whole bar.Good cocktails and good burger.
Extremely loud and crowded, but the food is really good. Plates are big and delicious. I recommend to share plates and avoid this place for dates since you can’t talk. And please do reservations in advance. It’s very touristic. And you have 90 mins to eat, not more!
If you love Christmas, this is it. I was lucky to be part of an engagement celebration over the weekend (we flew in from Toronto) . Make sure your whole party is there or youll have a tough time being seated. Atmosphere and DJ were on point with a good mix of 80/90s/2000s and some Christmas hits too. Look forward to coming back in the summer.
Arrived 7:10pm on a Tuesday with no reservation. While it was packed to capacity & booked for the rest of the night (no walk ins available for a table), I was fortunate enough to find ONE seat at the bar & happily squeezed right into it! Was a little disappointed it took 15 minutes to order as the bartender didnt seem to keen to take my order once he realized I only wanted food and no drinks. He kept saying give me a few minutes, and then proceeded to wait around for other people to come up & ask for a drinks. That aside, I ordered at 7:25 and my food arrived at 7:55. On one hand it seemed a little crazy to wait 30 minutes for 5 chicken wings, BUT I understand its the holiday rush so I took that time to enjoy the gorgeous Christmas decor. At first the music was enjoyable, but then the volume was turned up to 1000 & I couldnt hear myself think as everyone was shouting over the music to one another. Thankfully, I had my earbuds which helped tone it down or I would have left before the food arrived. The sweet chili wings were AMAZING! Like the 2nd best wings Ive had in my entire life! I have to admit it would be really nice to have regular sized wings instead of jumbo wings because it feels like youre eating some genetically modified organism that is totally NOT normal. They were fried & seasoned to perfection with just the right amount of sauce. Once I was done eating, I was able to promptly flag down a different bar tender to pay with ease. This Bartender was much better & attentive before, during, and after my meal (fedora bar with push pin pendants on the side). All in all, even with a few minor issues, Oscar Wilde is still a NYC treasure during the holidays and everything you never knew you needed. Walking in was like stepping into a winter Wonderland from a Hallmark movie. Im so happy I found this place just from clicking on restaurants close to my hotel. I will try to come back every year & hopefully make it a family tradition!
The atmosphere was definitely fun. We would definitely go back...the bread and gorgonzola appetizer was really good, but there were a few negatives of note. The food was good, but the options felt lacking..., so, minus a star. Service was friendly, but okay, they forgot to give us utensils and napkins until way after the food was served, so we had to wait a few mins to dig in. The cocktails (we got two of the seasonal cocktails on the Halloween menu) ... They werent as good as we expected, and not even a buzz to at least get my monies worth.
I really loved this restaurant. Loved the interior, massive decorations for occasion such as halloween, loved the cocktail omg so good, loved the food. Loved the ambience.
Absolutely a place in a million, super original and amazingly different. The atmosphere was amazing, didnt understand why is called after Pscar Wilde when clearly the theme is Alice in Wonderland. The food is good but nothing super good, more like a good bar food quality than a restaurant
The reception put me & my friend to a corner that the table bearing enough room for afternoon lunch but drinks. And uncomfortable seating too. We observed that she did offer table change for other guests and we didn’t have a good impression on the arrangement. Overall atmosphere is great except the service. Thank you.
It’s nice, there’s a whole vibe. It’s usually pack and the dynamic (at least when I was there) is that you find a spot to sit down or leave. The place is cool, food was good, drinks too. Not extremely pricey regarding New York City prices, but not cheap either.
The look & the ambiance is certainly different from the ordinary. Something about it makes you feel happy even before you have entered the restaurant. Restaurant is very busy, would recommend to call and plan the visit. Its known for its selection of cocktails and serves good bar food. There is enough of a selection in the cocktail selection for everyone to get a drink that would suit there palate and mood of the day.The sliders, burger, steak sandwich and Gnocchi were very good and worth a try.The staff are super friendly and on top of their game.If you are a tourist, then its another place that shouldbbe on your list to visit.
The best bar in NYC.We went for a drink with my friends last night, I was amazed by interior design, it was like in a fairytale of Alice in wonderland. But I was told that they keep changing it every season. The staff is so friendly, Daniela and Darko were just awesome. The place is super crowded, and the quality of drinks still 10 out of 10👌🏻
Super fun place it was packed they forgot to place my food order but I was happy to continue to drink and check out the decor.
*Reviewing the decor as I could not find a table, this review is based on the atmosphere*This place is insane. The amount of decorations is incredible, not even an inch left uncovered. The music is loud and the place is busy.
Absolutely stunning! A friend and I came here for on thanksgiving for pre-dinner drinks and an appetiser - the decorations were festive and the drinks were delicious!
We had apps and cocktails and all was fantastic. Atmosphere was great- decor changes seasonally. Recommend reservations if you want a certain time or have more than 4 people in your party. We walked in at the right time and the hostess was able to seat us fairly quickly without a reservation but if we had arrived 20 minutes later we may not have gotten a table for our group of 7. We will be back
The perfect spot for a night out with friends! The Temptation Lounge here is absolutely amazing — lively atmosphere, chic decor, and an energy that keeps the night going. For dinner, we went with the grilled bronzini and my strip steak. They were so flavorful and delicious. 😍 Whether you’re here for the food, drinks, or the ambiance, this place is a must-visit!Featured⤵️-Florence Welch-Tyler the Creator-Pork Belly Bun-Hummus & Crudité Platter-Grilled NY Strip-Whole Grilled Branzino-Granny’s Apple CrumbleFollow @spinx17 for more NYC food recs!
The place is cute and vibey visually . The music was good… service overall was a 1/5 Nessa M. was pretty dismissive & short . Our party of 9 were celebrating a birthday and the poor service became well within the forefront of the night. Trying to order anything or request something felt like a task because she didn’t care to check in on us. I didn’t even bother to order a second drink. As far as food goes the burrata was a solid 8.5/10 I just wish I got my bread in time I got it when it was basically finished. The truffle arancini was about a 6/10 not great Not bad. The steak sandwich 5/10 tasted like a Philly cheese steak deli sandwich. And the chicken sliders were a 7/10 but the smallest sliders I’ve ever seen before lol. The spicy tequila drink was great tho 9/10Overall I don’t think I’ll be back. Glad i was still able to check it out & cross it off my list!
Amazing holiday cocktail spot! They have a beautifully decorated interior. Amazing cocktails. Friendly bartenders. Lively atmosphere. It was such a perfect way to wrap the holidays. We had no line and Sat immediately at the bar at 8ish at night on a Sunday. The drinks were fabulous and festive. Highly recommend.
I love going in October with the crazy halloween theme. I recommend making reservations but I walked in and was able to sit at the bar
I was truly mesmerized by the stunning Alice in Wonderland theme at this location. Every corner is intricately decorated, from the white rabbits and the Cheshire Cat to interactive decor elements like flowers that bloom and close. The ambiance truly makes you feel like youve stepped into another realm.Whats unique about this venue, reminiscent of Oscar Wildes ever-evolving stories, is its dynamic decor. I eagerly anticipate their upcoming fall transition to Halloween and then Christmas display. This promise of transformation ensures every visit offers a new atmosphere to immerse oneself in.As for the culinary delights, I was thoroughly impressed. The salmon was perfectly cooked, the pork buns were delectable, and the fruity drinks were refreshingly delightful. But what truly elevated the experience was the impeccable service. The staff struck a perfect balance between attentiveness and discretion, ensuring we were comfortable without ever feeling rushed. This establishment caters to various dining experiences. Whether youre settling down for a prolonged meal with a book in hand or looking for a quick bite, theyve got you covered. With a blend of standing areas and dedicated dining spots, it breaks the mold of being just a bar or a restaurant, offering a versatile environment for all.In essence, if youre seeking an ever-evolving, magical atmosphere with delectable food and top-notch service, this is the place to be. Highly recommended!
This place was so cool everything was decorated for Halloween food was great atmosphere was nice drinks was good definitely go back
Ronald and Nataly took very good care of me, the entire staff was very attentive to me, very helpful and nice.I had afternoon tea, it was delicious, the sweet items were at their sweetest point, the sandwiches were delicious and I also tried one of the cocktails decorated with a delicious passion fruit spiral, and I really liked it.I loved the experience, it is fantastic and magical, exactly what I was looking for and the feeling there exceeded my expectations, I was very happy, not as a child, but as an adult who appreciates these types of things, I understand that not all of us have the same tastes and hence they feel dissatisfaction, but for me it was what I was looking for. 🤗🌟🐇
Came here for dinner late on a Sunday. Made a reservation just to be secure. It was busy, but not cometely packed. The Alice In Wonderland theme they had going on was wacky, but funny. The menu is mostly small bites, but they are good. The service can be hit or miss. Was a little slow ht there were only a couple servers managing the whole floor. I got the wings, the arancini, and the calamari. Everything was good, but the arancini felt a bit undercooked. We also got the bread pudding to try, and when it was served, it was cold with caramelized sugar on top. Not good. The drinks were delicious though. I had a smoked old fashioned. Overall, it was a decent experience.
Food and drinks were great, just a bit pricey. Atmosphere and decor in the restaurant are incredible. Very fun stop!
Went there a couple of days before Thanksgiving. Was disappointed they didnt have the place decorated for Christmas like we had heard they do. The food and service were okay.
Pretty decent bar but overly crowded and a lot going on. Food not bad for a bar. Gnocchi was good, arancini was great. The Elvis cocktail was really nice if youre into sweet drinks
DO NOT make a reservation at Oscar Wilde to eat! I made a reservation for our group of nine over a month in advance. The night we showed up (5 mins early) and they said our table was not ready. We thought no big deal, we would be waiting a couple of minutes... 35 minutes later with nine of us crammed right inside the door, shoulder to shoulder with others... they told us our table was ready. They proceeded to walk us to two tiny bar tables pushed together and crammed all 9 of us around it. Meanwhile they bar was SO packed the majority of my group was getting bumped left and right because there were standing room only patrons surrounding us. It was a complete nightmare. The decor was stunning, but we ended up walking out without even ordering a drink because the table we were given was such a joke. This place would be fine if you knew there was a crowd and wanted to see the decor and grab a drink in a crowded bar.. the problem was, DONT TAKE RESERVATIONS IF YOU CANNOT ACCOMMODATE. We walked down the street, and another place was able to squeeze us in thank goodness.
It was a great Christmas experience for our girls trip. We had appetizers which were pretty good. Drinks were great. It was packed so definitely get reservations before you go.
Unfortunately, we were disappointed with our recent experience. While we expected a lively atmosphere with our 8 PM Saturday night reservation, the music was so loud that it made conversation nearly impossible, and I left with a headache. My watch even alerted me several times due to the high noise levels. We were really looking forward to dining here, especially during our visit for my husband’s cancer treatment, but sadly, the noise detracted from what we hoped would be a special evening. The pictures, menu, and reviews had us excited to visit, but in hindsight, we wish we had chosen differently. We’re truly disappointed.
I dont usually write bad reviews, but our experience at Oscar’s Wild was unacceptable. We were visiting New York for a 3-day birthday celebration and planned everything meticulously a month in advance, knowing how busy the Christmas season can get.We had a reservation for 2 PM for 4 people, arrived on time, and were told our reservation was canceled. Despite showing them the website and email confirmation, they refused to accommodate us. The manager, instead of resolving the issue or attempting to help, was rude and completely dismissive. To make matters worse, we noticed they were allowing walk-ins while turning away people with confirmed reservations like ours. It was evident they overbooked themselves and decided to cancel certain reservations without any notice. This was unprofessional, with zero customer service or care for their customers. A truly disappointing experience, and I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a stress free and enjoyable dining experience.
Was meserised by the experience here. I loved the mocktails. Loved the vibe. I had gone during the chinese New Year and had a blast. Would definitely recommend everyone to check it out. The bartendars are pretty amazing and provide your drinks pretty fast in a very busy enviornment. Im not sure free popcorn is an everyday thing but it was during that day. Loved it.
Visited here late afternoon on first Sunday in December, was disappointed to find extensive building work going on outside and the front of the restaurant cordoned off with mess and building materials scattered about. Once inside the Christmas decor certainly was over the top and very festive. We were seated on a corner and my wife was continually nudged and pushed past, we were all really crammed in and informed we had 90 minutes to eat/drink which was fine as the service was swift and the food and drinks were good. The cocktails were fun themed and very good. The overall experience was a good one only marred by being squeezed in and by the building work outside ( meaning there was no chance to photo the venue or be pictured with the bronze model of Oscar wilde.
Amazing experience here for Halloween. One spot to stop and check out. The level of detail and effort is next level. Definitely an experience and good vibe
We had a 8pm reservation on Christmas day. We arrived at 7:30 and when we finally got seated close to 9pm, we were sat at a table within arm distance of where we just were next to the crowd of people standing waiting to be seated. This was suppose to be a highlight of our visit to NYC for Christmas and it was just disappointing, after-all we came for the holiday decorations and the festive atmosphere and not near the front door. After having a drink at this poor excuse for a reserved table. I did see two seats open up and the bar that I quickly grabbed and we had another drink in with the festive atmosphere, but were unable to eat due to the tight area. So we left and dined else where.Just disappointing as I even woke up at midnight 30-days prior to my reservation time to snag what I knew was going to be a difficult reservation to get. However I got it and was just completely let down. Whats the point of a business doing reservations if there going to be an hour late to seat you and then when they do, they give you the most crappy table in the restaurant. Use that table for someone that may snag a walk-up seat, but not someone that had a reservation for the intentions of what should of been an amazing dinner.
This bar is all about the experience. The whole theme was very vibrant and fun!We didnt get any food here so cant comment on that but the drinks were good. The service was a little lacking, the bartender forgot our order and got the drinks after a second reminder. But it was a busy night so others might have a better experience. The DJ was good too!
What a fun and relaxed place to eat and drink. The Victorian decor certainly is amusing while the service is very welcoming. The large group that attended enjoyed the experience.
Great bar, a little expenses - reservations are required - I suggest you mention bar section not tables sections - very crowded grest music
Such a fun spot and highly recommend! We went on a Tuesday night so it didn’t feel too crowded. Staff was on point— water always full, attentive, and friendly.Prices— $25 burger without fries, but I noshed on my friend’s fish n chips. Actually I wanted the Greek salad + chicken but that would be about $30.
A wonderful experience! We reserved in advance for Halloween evening, and were promptly greeted and seated at our table. The food was good (fish and chips), and the decor was simply amazing. Quite and experience and well worth the visit.
On my quest for local spots to eat while on vacation. I came across this restaurant on Nov.25, not far from my hotel, and the ambiance was the most eclectic I have ever come across. It is a very busy restaurant and definitely has pub food feels, but I was just taken away by the decor and how hectic but yet beautiful it was at the same time. Highly recommend reservations, depending on how busy it is and if you are in a rush, you may want to order your food all at once or if you are not in a rush, order your next food item while you are eating as you may be waiting a while. So highly recommend you look at the menu in advance.
I dont see how this place have 4.3 stars , let me say this the decor is great and the drinks are fun, however the food sucks and the portions are small and its over priced , the service is also bad we waited for 2 hours for food. It was hard to find our waiter and ended up sending 3 dishes back which the replacement dishes never came so myself and 2 other people didnt eat ,what a waste of time .
Stopped by for a drink and to check their delightfully excessive christmas decorations .. the server was too kind to make changes in my drink and make it to my taste. A must go if you in for a vibes/ cliches / corny things.. it celebrates two most major North American festivals - Halloween and Christmas!! Drinks were cool too... I didnt grab any food as I sat at the bar! Hadnt reserved in advance!
Place was packed during my visit, but managed to find a spot at the bar. Despite it being an extremely busy evening, all the staff I interacted with were friendly and helpful. A lot of effort and attention to detail put into the festive decorations. Food and drinks were also top notch. Be sure to try the truffled gnocchi.
Came for the Alice in Wonderland theme and was BLOWN AWAY. Truly an incredible display. Wasn’t blown away with the brunch, but the drinks were incredible and adorable. Absolute must visit
Great Christmas decor and festive drinks however would not recommend for a meal. They let in too many patrons at once and the dinner tables are lining the bar. Other patrons were bumping into us the entire dinner. They stuck 6 of us at a bar high top which is misleading since you’re booking for a dinner—barely enough room for drinks. You’re also seated after your reservation time due to their overbooking.
Loved this place. Tons of awesome energy....really cool vibe. It was all decked out for the Chinese New Year and they were beginning to switch the decorations out for Valentines Day.....everything about this place was awesome. Our server Maggie was professional, personable and terrific. The cocktails were perfect and the Bread Pudding was delicious.I am definitely coming back!
Fun place to grab a drink or a small bite during the holidays. They go hard for Christmas and Halloween, havent really stopped by for any other holidays to see what theyre up to. The food is alright, drinks are pretty good, but its the atmosphere that youre coming here for. Also, youll probably want reservations unless youre just hitting up the bar.
Cool cool restaurant with many decorations and it really makes you feel like you’re in another world. But when we arrived, there was no hostess for about 10 minutes and it seemed that nobody understood what was going on or they were just not prepared for guests. It was truly one of the most bizarre experiences I’ve seen in New York City. finally when we did want to sit the hostess told us we had to sit at the bar, even though we were eating dinner, which wasn’t that pleasant. There’s only one bartender for the entire back bar which is quite large too so it takes a long time. But the food is really good. We had the gnocchi and the drinks were really awesome including the wine and some cocktails so that is the best part of it.
I’m gonna be coming here way more often! I was looking for a cute place to celebrate my birthday, and this restaurant had that in spades.I was able to get a reservation for 4 on a Sunday night. The restaurant is honestly huge, and they have a lot of seating to accommodate. We came just in time for the Alice In Wonderland theme, and the whole place really felt like we fell down into a rabbithole. The $16 cocktails lured me here. Not only are they strong, but they are also unique and insta-worthy! If you like a sweeter and richer type of cocktail, then you have to try the Playful Princess! The cardamom gin and strawberry combo is just too good. If you like a bit more tart, then I’d recommend the What’s The Story, Glory. It was all around a tasty drink, and a stunner visually too.Food-wise, this restaurant honestly surprised me. The calamari and truffle fries are so good?? And the Frutti de Mares was also delicious! Their menu is pretty limited entree wise, but it’s a solid one for sure. All in all, this is a great spot to impress your friends and family, whether they live in the city or are visiting from out of town. Can’t wait to see what theme they’ll have next!
This place is nice and super picturesque, my complaint is the long wait times for the actual food to be served once ordered
This place is for looks and drinks, not as a dinner spot. We reserved for a party of 6 and were seated at the tiny cramped pub tables, which were grossly sticky. The plates felt a little rough like they weren’t perfectly cleaned. Service was incredibly slow, taking almost an hour before we received appetizers.Menu is pretty uninspired and the things we received were meh. Pork belly was over cooked and tough. It was fine, but at $20 an appetizer, I’d at least expect it to taste a little amazing. We didn’t even bother ordering dinner and left for another place. The drinks were good and also pretty. The atmosphere - the interior looks amazing and it’s loud, you’ll have to shout. The place can’t decide if it wants to be a dinner place or a dance club and it needs to. It’s super crowded where your practically touching the table behind you.All in all, it felt more like a times square attraction than a good restaurant. Good for drinks, but you can find way better food and service in this city.
Do yourself a favor and do not come on a Sunday. We had a reservation for 1:30 and didn’t actually get our food until 3:30. Food is overpriced for what you get. The steak sandwich was good but it’s basically a Philly you can get most places and you get no side so essentially a $30 Philly. I expected a little more for the price point. Next time I’d come get one drink at the bar, take a few pictures and leave for something else. The atmosphere is nice but not worth waiting over an hour for okay food.
Oscar Wilde Bar & Restaurant in NYC is an absolute gem that beautifully combines a charming ambiance with delectable food and impeccable service. From the moment you step inside, you are transported to an era of elegance and sophistication, paying homage to the literary genius after whom it is named. The first thing that strikes you is the stunning decor. The interior design is a delightful fusion of Victorian and steampunk elements, creating a unique and visually captivating space. Rich velvet drapes, ornate chandeliers, and antique furniture evoke a sense of timeless opulence, while gears and mechanical contraptions add a touch of whimsical charm. The bar itself is a masterpiece, boasting an extensive selection of craft cocktails and a well-curated array of spirits, wines, and beers. The mixologists are true artists, crafting cocktails that are not only a feast for the taste buds but also a feast for the eyes. Each libation is a work of art, carefully garnished and presented with flair.Moving on to the restaurant, the menu is a delightful blend of classic and contemporary dishes, all prepared with the utmost attention to detail and using high-quality, locally-sourced ingredients. Whether youre a carnivore, vegetarian, or vegan, there is something to please every palate. From sumptuous steaks and seafood to innovative plant-based creations, every dish bursts with flavor and is beautifully plated. The staff at Oscar Wilde are undoubtedly the heart and soul of this establishment. Friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, they make you feel like a welcomed guest in their own home. Their passion for both the food and the concept of the restaurant is evident in every interaction, and they go above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience.
5 stars for decoration and ambience!!! It’s definitely unique experience, just fascinating. Also, very busy. We were waiting to order cocktails at the bar but after some time still waiting, decided to leave elsewhere. But the place itself is amazing!!
I would leave this place 0 stars if I could. I had a 6:30PM reservation for tonight. I arrived at 6:30 to the most ridiculous line and the rudest security in the world. It took over 30 minutes to even get let in the door with several other 6:30 reservations. Once speaking to the host (who clearly had an extremely poor handle on the crowd), she informed me that there was a 15 minute grace period. After explaining that we arrived at 6:30, they told us to wait around 10 minutes and we should be seated. After waiting over 15 minutes, multiple parties that came in after us got seated. When we asked the host what was going on, she said they were checked in before us. How that makes sense, I will never know. We left in extreme frustration I have never experienced such disorganization and rude behavior from a New York establishment. I will NEVER return.
This is an incredible experience. The aesthetics alone make it worth it. The decor is amazing. Very Nomad, but in a period setting. The bar is craft without pretense. I had one of the best Manhattans Ive had. My bartender was fantastic.Just check out the pics. Gorgeous. Cant go wrong.
Great atmosphere and good drinks. Loved the decor of the place. Unfortunately service lacks a little bit attention , we waited almost 15 minutes to be served although place was not extremely busy and then we were forgotten after ordering our 2nd drink. We were also seated in a back behind the curtain which was taking a little bit from experiencing the ambiance of the place.
I liked this place for the atmosphere. Fun brunch place during Alice in Wonderland theme. Didnt care for the food. It made my stomach hurt. I got the eggs benedict but to be fair my stomach hurts no matter where I go. This is a place that makes sense when you say Humpty Dumpty Fell on a Topsy Turvy.
Honestly, Oscar Wilde in NYC takes the cake for the worst manager, food, and service in the city. And trust me, that’s saying something in a town known for terrible service. The food came out cold, and I’ve never had worse Eggs Benedict in my life. Even if you complain, they don’t care. An absolute disaster.
It’s always so beautifully decorated here and they have so many fun themes on the holidays. The drinks are great but especially the gin and tonic drinks are very good. I always have a great time!
Starting off by sharing this place has a cool atmosphere. Usually, the decor theme changes throughout the year.Call me a glutton for bad service but I’ve taken out of town friends here thrice and all but once was the service acceptable. If there was an example of why the service industry is dying and that customer service really isn’t for everyone - this place is it. From the hostess to the waiters it’s all downhill - rude, unfriendly, short and bitter. I just want to remind them, you work here hennie you ain’t the one signing the checks. So avoid this place if you want and sort of service. Food is mid.
My best friends and I went to dinner here a little before Halloween. The Decor and the ambience was fabulous. Whoever took the time to design and decorate this restaurant did an amazing job. This restaurant is actually more like a pub. Heavy on the drinks, but, go light on the food.
Super cute! The decor was especially super fun and unique. They really went all out. Only had drinks, but they were amazing! My only complaint is how the drink menu didnt have prices.
We had dinner reservations at 8:30, and we weren’t seated until 9pm. The host said we needed to wait until our name was called, and until then we could stand around and have a drink. Once we were sat, we were CONSTANTLY surrounded by other people waiting for their tables, constantly being touched and brushed as people crowned around. Our server only took our order and brought us the bill, never asked us how our food was, if we needed anything, didn’t refill our water, etc. We had to keep asking random bussers to bring us more water, ketchup, etc. We ordered the NY Strip, the Risotto, and the Sliders. The risotto was undercooked, the sliders were very dry, and the steak wasn’t cooked how I wanted it. We were hoping to address these concerns with our server but she never came to check on us. This night we were looking forward to for weeks, was a complete waste of money.
Oscar Wilde is a gem in NYC that brings Victorian charm with a playful twist! The decor is breathtaking, with ornate details, chandeliers, and vintage vibes that feel straight out of a storybook. The cocktail menu is creative and extensive, making it hard to choose just one, and each drink is beautifully presented. The food is equally impressive, with delicious small plates and hearty mains that pair perfectly with the unique drinks. It’s a perfect spot for a night out with friends or a date. Oscar Wilde is a must-visit for anyone who loves style, character, and a dash of whimsy in their night out!
I love this place. The service is amazing, and the Halloween decor was to die for!
The place is fun, music fun, a little dirty and smelling but its a bar. Somehow price is a little expensive but affordable for a quick stop. The bad thing and terrible was finding a piece of plastic in my sandwich, which I was really enjoying before that happened. The drink was great, but also chip glass scratch my lip and have to leave it half way done. I wouldnt recommend eating here. If you want get in take a couple pictures, probably drink a beer from the bottle and go eat somewhere if you want my opinion.
Wow, what a magical evening 🎉Oscar Wild was an amazing, magical, experience. The place has an Incredible vibe. Loaded with Alice in Wonderland characters, great service, and fabulous food and drinks.Couldn’t think of a better friends outing or a date night than this magical place.Totally loved it. 💖🎉💖
Been meaning to visit for ages and got a booking for 1 during lunar new year. Decorations were impeccable (they switch them according to different celebrations)! Tried their LNY menu, had 2 dishes & a cocktail for $68 after tax & tip- food and drinks were pretty good! Quite pricey as expected but it was worth the experience and will visit again.
Good food, average service. They didn’t check on the table and we had to wait for someone to pass by so that we can get their attention. I ordered hot tea and was served English breakfast. Then when I asked if they had other options I was told they have earl grey and chamomile. Burrata was very good, gnocchi was tasty. Don’t order their Buffalo cauliflower as it’s not cooked well.
This place is AMAZING! It is probably my favorite bar in NYC, the most unique and amazing drinks. I came in for one drink and ended up staying for two hours just admiring the decor. I love this place!
Gorgeous place, particularly the large marble bar in front. Lots of fun novelties all around grabbing your attention. No detail left unnoticed. Came for drinks with coworkers on a Weds evening. Had gorgeous, beautiful drinks. Will return for more and food next time!
Thoroughly enjoyed an evening here recently. The food was very good and the cheesecake really delicious. Our server went out of her way to be attentive and helpful. Its a fun place with many photo opportunities.
Everything about this restaurant is like being in the book. From the designed drinks to the decor, its a very magical space!
Great place, I love their decoration, drinks, the French sandwich “madam” was amazing, also had some delicious spicy drinks, and the steak 🥩 and eggs was delicious too!! Great atmosphere!! And friendly staff , Oscar Wilde was a great Irish poet BTW.
Came here for the night scene to celebrate our anniversary. We really loved the ambiance and how over the top decorated it all was in the interior. The food tasted great. They seemed to have a delegation system between waiters/waitresses and actual food servers. So in our experience our waitress was really giving us the bare minimum of service and a bad attitude, while the food server was beyond amazing. Really a sad thing to sully it but everything else saved this rating. I guess thats New York for you.
Amazingly themed. We stopped by for drinks after an early dinner and were able to find spots at the bar without reservations. The cocktails were some of the best Ive had and the bartender was courteous and attentive. If you like whiskey-based cocktails, try the By Ocean Avenue.
Humphrey Bogart, Lost in Love (this one was my favorite), the decor is wild in this place. Good vibe
Let me start with the positives - great vibe, great ambience, the bartenders are awesome (extremely knowledgeable, serve you with a smile on their face, and make great cocktails). We tried their selection of gin-based cocktails, and all of them was excellent (we tried Bullet The Blue Sky, Dreaming my Dreams, Here Comes The Sun, Whats the Story Morning Glory). However, I wont be going back until they train all of their staff to be courteous or fire the ones that are unable to be. While most of the serving staff was kind and hospitable, one female server in particular kept shoving us and gave us dirty looks (context: we were a large group of walk-ins who were standing around the bar. Given its a small bar, we occasionally got in the way of the servers. The rest of the staff handled the situation graciously and politely asked us to make way, and we did. However, this one server was horrible to us).Towards the end of our visit, while we were waiting for a friend to finish their drink and another friend to return from the bathroom, the bouncer came and told us that because we werent drinking, we had to leave RIGHT NOW. Any reasoning that we are waiting for one of us to return from the bathroom fell on deaf ears, and while we calmly started walking towards the exit, the bouncer took the extra step of shoving us as we were exiting. Makes you wonder whether this behavior was inflicted on us because we were a group of brown people in a predominantly white bar.Perhaps Im being generous by giving Oscar Wilde three stars, but I dont want to take away from things that this restaurant is doing well. However, what could have been a memorable evening unexpectedly turned into an ugly memory that Id like to quickly erase from my mind.
The hostess was grumpy, and the waitress was inattentive and not pleasant. It’s the Sunday before Christmas and they don’t have their Christmas decorations up. The food is not bad — on par with other restaurants of this type. My wagyu burger lacked flavor. We were here last year and it was much better. A big disappointment this year..
Well, we got off to a bad start since we put in a reservation successfully... For a date a month in the future. It also happened to another group, so please be aware and double check your reservation before going.Next, compared to other Christmas bars- this kinda felt like a free for all. You could stand at the bar if you dont have a reservation (if you survive the line), but due to it being an extremely small space, what you got is a line thats always weaving through the restaurant and lots of people rubbing shoulders.High-stress environment - youre better off at the papillon, but I give the staff a lot of credit for giving us a special experience nonetheless.
It was immaculate from the moment we stepped in. Service was wonderful, ambiance was divine, and the cocktails and food were flavorful, balanced, and crave worthy.
I came to Oscar wild years ago, before Google map reviews or I would have reviewed back then.If you are into poetry, history or romance, Oscar Wilde is a must. The ornate decor and images that adorn the restaurant is so appreciated. The hallway ans stairwell offer antiquated feel with quotes in hidden places if you are observing. Even the bathrooms are gorgeous. Like my first time here, it was packed with good vibes and libations lovers.Food was clean and tasty. Cocktails were unique and plenty. I want to come back more often and with friends.
Absolutely enchanting Alice in Wonderland vibes throughout the place, with a super welcoming staff. The Amstad Leal cocktail was enjoyable. The food menu, however, feels a bit standard and doesnt quite match the unique concept. Fish and chips were just okay, though the fries were bland. The calamari portion was small, but the arancini was delicious. Definitely recommend for a drink in a cool, whimsical atmosphere.
Drinks were 10/10, service was great and the overall atmosphere couldn’t be better! Our waitress Michelle was so helpful and fun! Such a cute spot tucked away on an unassuming street. Will be back!
The decorations and atmosphere is always amazing. Food is better than I thought.
I’m sure it can be nice but it’s a tourist trap. The food took an hour+ and it was cold when we got it. Go and get a drink and enjoy the atmosphere. But skip the food or youll regret it.
Amazing bar with a cool vibe. Very relaxed and outstanding cocktails. Highly recommended around Christmas and Halloween
Wow! I would give this six stars if it would have be possible. During Halloween times, this place is just crazy when it comes to interior decorations. Drinks are grate too and not overly expensive. I recommend booking a table here, if you dont mind waiting for quire some time (or sit outside). Staff/service is friendly and helpful.
Bar with a Christmas setting.... Very crowded... Excellent Gin and tonic... Good service... Nice clientele.... Mainly female!!
Stimulation overload in a delightful way. It’s a beautiful experience. I probably could stay in this establishment for hours just wandering. It’s my favorite period in time and I’m a big fan of Oscar Wilde. The food is really good as well. The server was really nice but just missed the mark a bit with clean utensils, plates, condiments, which we had to request a few times. Definitely will return.
They have certainly monopolized the Instagram worthy story/reel photo op. Sadly, they’ve sacrificed guest comfort in doing so. The tables are extremely close and there isn’t enough room for food/drinks. I struggled to even have enough room without elbowing 3 people taking my coat off. Food was mid, our glasses were dirty, service was sparse, and it’s not what you expect for what you pay. Wanna great pic and a check in on insta then it’s your place. Want quality and conversation? Go somewhere else.
Oscar Wilde is, like Lillies Victorian (but even more so), a delightfully kitschy bar that changes its decor seasonally. When I went, it was still decorated for Lunar New Year, with a smaller Valentines Day area in the very back for reserved tables. The cocktails are reasonably priced for the area, although I feel that theyre nothing to write home about. The staff are kind, helpful, and unobtrusive. I was also touched to see a sign in the restroom that says theyll help you if youre on a bad date and need to make a great escape.
Cute space. Lovely brunch menu. No iced tea or iced coffees available despite proudly offering a brunch service. Our server was looking after at least a dozen tables so we had to flag her down for everything each step of the way. If they could sort out their beverages and step up their service, this place could be printing cash.
The decor is special at Oscar Wilde’s, no doubt about that. The music did not match the decor or name of the restaurant at all, since it was mostly rap, and it was crazy loud. We were screaming at each other to converse. The service was super slow, but I don’t know if that was intentional or lax. The food was good, though i really hate paying $14 for fries to accompany a $30 sandwich. So all and all, i loved the decor, but everything else fell flat.
Arrived at 6:15pm, no reservation, place was packed, no seating inside but was offered a table outside under a couple umbrellas. Service was very attentive, staff knows the flavor profiles of all drinks. Snack food was tasty. Inside seating would have probably been more interesting with all the decorations but still a good time outside.
Beautiful night!! Great workers and amazing decor!! 10000% recommend.
An amazingly decorated Christmas bar in December with yummy, festive drinks! It was packed but not too loud and able to converse at normal vocal level and have a baby without volume concerns.
Cool bar, nice vibe. A little busy and hard to walk once inside. I don’t think it’s worth the effort if you have to stand in line outside. A few bars in the bar but still too a long time to get a drink.
Food was good, not a ton of choices. Drinks were fancy, and the decorations were amazing. Staff could have been friendlier.
I have been here a couple of times for just drinks and recently went to try the food. The best part about this place is the atmosphere. This is one of the best restaurants in terms of decor. The food and service is okay. I would like to go back and try something else off of the menu because the food I ordered didn’t wow me. I hate when Caesar salad isn’t fully chopped up because there is never enough dressing. The drinks are always tasty and fun!
We didn’t eat here, so I don’t have a review for the food. But the drinks were top notch. Very tasty and well made. We sat at the packed bar. The bar is first come first serve. So if you find a seat you’re lucky. It was pretty packed that day. The place is great for drinks. There is music playing and people gathered. It makes you not want to leave. Our bartender was very helpful. We only had one chair but helped to find us another one. I can’t wait to come back. Really want to come back for Christmas.
To describe the chicken and waffles merely as “delicious” is to slight the divine. It was not a meal; it was a revelation, a work of art more deserving of a museum than a plate. The chicken, gloriously golden, was a triumph of texture—its crust a symphony of crispness yielding to tender perfection, as though the bird itself had aspired to immortality. And the waffles, ah! They were clouds masquerading as sustenance, each square a masterpiece of buttery lightness, whispering promises of delight. Together, they danced with the sweetness of syrup, a love affair of opposites, bold and delicate, sweet and savory. To eat such a dish is to commune with the sublime. Would that all meals could aspire to such magnificence!
While the decor pulls you in and it a fun little experience, the food, drinks and service turned this place into my worst experience during my trip to New York.We were seated in a corner of the establishment, which is fine, but then we sat there for 20min. Another table of 6 was sat next to us and finally someone came over to give them water and then gave us water. Ordering food and drinks took another 10min for someone to show up.One of the drinks was passionfruit based and was pretty good but had a really bitter finish that was unpleasant given that the drink should be sweet. The other two drinks were very different gin based drinks... they both just tasted like standard gin and tonics. IDK what they did with the remaining ingredients that were supposed to be in the cocktail but they basically added nothing.Lobster roll was good, nothing to complain about. The Sliders were OK (both kinds), not as much flavor and the chicken was dry. The octopus was extremely overcooked. They should have given me a steak knife because I was sitting there trying to cut it with my butter nice (which should be possible) and was literally moving the table around from the effort. So its already.. pretty bad. But then after we got our food.. no one ever came back. After like 30min of us all being done eating and looking around someone finally asked for our check. Our server had left for the day and didnt tell us, the new server never came by to introduce themselves or even see if we needed anything. It took another 15min to actually pay and get the heck out after specifically asking for the check. It could have easily been a fine or even good experience - but ended up being truly my only negative experience on my trip.
This place has an amazing vibe! I went in a Saturday night with friends and it was packed (better try to make a reservation before). The ambience is super cool. The bathroom is interesting to hear the old radio playing old news. Drinks are cute and delicious. Food is also good!
This is the iconic over-the-top decorated for the Holidays place. We couldnt even find a place to stand. Looks like you need to make reservations months ahead of time. But its still worth a visit to get some pics.
I really loved the decor of the place , it was very beautiful, but the wait time to get our food was dissatisfying , it took a long time just to get our appetisers and eventually our food , but in hindsight I realise that it was so busy so that’s probably why, overall would recommend this place for the decor
Wonderful night, Service from Connor was fantastic!!
Went here for drinks with friends on a Saturday afternoon. It was quite busy at 4pm and was packed by the time we left at 7pm. It’s a beautifully decorated space with a very long marble top bar. The cocktails are a bit pricey at around $15 a pop, but they were quite fancy and delicious. The milk punch cocktail was particularly good and came with a cinnamon stick that they torched on the spot.
Whimsical bar with loads of Alice in Wonderland sculptures and motifs around, including animatronic installations. Drinks are pretty decent and average prices, and service is prompt and friendly. Good place for a drink in midtown.
We werent lucky enough to get a table but grabbed a quick drink and just enjoyed the holiday festivities and decorations.
Stay away during Christmas. Worst service in NYC. Showed up on time for a reservation and wasnt let inside the door until we hit their 15 minute grace period. We then waited another 30 minutes while they sat people that were behind us in line. I left after this as they didnt have a table for our reservation.Place is insanely overcrowded and the bouncers are very rude. Learn how to handle reservations like a normal restaurant.
We were seated under a leaking air conditioner vent that was dripping condensation on us, the dessert was mass produced from Sysco food (or sometime similar), the drinks were unbalanced and one was too sour and the other too bitter. The cheap Halloween decor is something from a grade school production. For the location and the price paid, expectations are higher than mass produced desserts and drinks that are not up to par.For all the reasons, recommending our come back here would be tough.
Cute place, bustling atmosphere, young and old, set in a Victorian-esque scene, with high ceilings and all the charm. Mid-priced for Manhattan, which means expensive. Specialty drinks were a good size, so definitely give one a try. The food was ok, nothing spectacular. Service was a little slow.
I had a smoked old fashioned, this was the best one in my life. It was really smoked. Very nice bartenders. This guy was the master and created of the best old fashioned in the entire New York. You need to try that. Thank you
Its a bar you want to visit when youre in NYC. Oscar Wilde have a bar with amazing decor, great cocktails and delicious food. after couple of fancy drinks I started watching the decor trying to pay attention to each detail but its endless. I wish I could come with my sister to enjoy this magnificent place.
I had reservations for my birthday and was super stoked about trying this place out. The decor was fantastic, the food and drinks were excellent, it was super crowded inside and kind of felt a bit like a club. The big downside though? Our service was absolutely awful. Our server hardly ever came around, and if she did come by she would only ask one or two people if they needed anything and would disappear again. We couldnt order more drinks or food if we wanted to. She was in an absolute awful mood as well, which really sucked. We figured that since her tip was included in our final check, she didnt have to put any effort into our service. Not sure if Id come back based on that alone.Afterwards I was asked to leave a review through the app I booked our table through and I shared my experience, and got a generic thank you for the excellent review response letting me know they didnt even bother reading it.
Food was pretty below average for the price but seems like this place is only in business because of its theming which I do agree is well done. The main take away was how awful the service was waiting for a long time just for the waitress to show up. When she did I ordered a water and she actually served the table that came after us the water and totally forgot or just didn’t care to serve us any. I ended up asking another waiter to bring water. Overall I would say youre paying for the atmosphere and being in NYC you could find hundreds of other places that provide that AND good food/service.
I’ve never had an experience like this at a restaurant, especially one so highly revered. We had a reservation that we waited 45 minutes for, then waited an additional 20 minutes for water/ greeting. Our food never came and we ended up having to leave 2 hours after our reservation time. Very disappointed in the service overall. Will not be returning and cannot suggest that anyone should.Edit: The fact that there are this many reviews left by diners with a similar experience and they’ve yet to do anything to rectify the holes in their system speaks volumes.
Love this place! It’s beautifully decorated and such a fun vibe. Expect lines and crowds as it’s a super popular place (if it’s packed we suggest going next door to their sister restaurant- cosmico)
The food was good, the service not what we were expecting and the decoration was amazing. Definitely a place to visit during Christmas time. Really good Old Fashioned!! 🥃
A nice restaurant with plenty of options for dinner, nice music, relaxing environment and friendly staff.
The bartender was good, the food took a while to come out so when we received it the calamari was not hot. The buffalo cauliflower was good taste wise. Then we had the branzino, which was good but didnt have sides. Now the spoiler, get the bill, enter the tip, and the machine added 9 extra dollars automatically.***** Buyer beware *****
Such a fun environment! Love that the whole restaurant is decorated according to each season. My reservations were on time and service was great. Had the steak and potatoes. Everything was cooked to the perfect temperature. It does get very crowded so be sure to book reservations. Will definitely be back!
The Halloween-themed decorations were awesome, and they even played Halloween music! They had special drinks, too. Everything was amazing—the vibe was really cool.
Been here twice this Christmas.. the first time for drinks, second time for dinner. The food was decent and handy to be able to have it while having drinks.Only issue - they stopped the Christmas music at 8pm and put on random chart music. Felt this deflated the Christmas atmosphere and vibe and in the end we decided against staying and getting another bottle of wine here as a result of this and moved on somewhere else.Keep the Christmas music on all night and more people will stay!
The decor is so much fun & my friends and I had a great time! The food was delicious! I got the sea bass and highly recommend it! I definitely will come back! We celebrated my friends baby shower & they were accommodating!
This is the perfect bar for ADHD - there are ENDLESS paintings, Knick-knacks, decorations to look at and literary quotes to read in this giant Victorian time machine. And their cocktail menu is dizzying, you’ll never run out of things to try!
The best restaurant with Christmas decorations in town, I recommend it 🎁
So much fun Halloween decoration. The dine-in can be overcrowded and hard to get table especially for big group >4people.I & gf did walk in and sat at the bar.The bartender, Jessica was very friendly and gave us good recommendations: autumn antidote (good old fashiom style) & flower of love (Tequila cocktail), the tuna tartar is delicious (I wish they give slices of bread with it)Definitely we ll be back for another season
Went here for some drinks and had a great time! The gin & tonics, which they are known for, are delicious and definitely worth a try. The vibe and decor are fabulous and the music was fun! The establishment is huge but does get packed, so if you’re not planning at sitting at the bar, make a reservation! I’d definitely recommend a visit!
The atmosphere is great if you can get inside the building. We had dinner outside. We were served water immediately. Our server didnt show up for 10 mins and did not introduce herself. She took our drink order and appetizer order. Left and didnt come back for another 10 mins with our drinks. (About 15 mins)Just before our appetizers came out she came back asking if we wanted to put in our dinner order because the kitchen was backed up. While she was taking the order our appetizer arrived. Pork belly was spot on. Charcuterie plate was lacking. The pickled veggies and Pickles were over powering. It was served with toast. That was a new thing. Another 15-20 mins passes. Server has not checked up. Water ran out. She was busy talking to her coworker. 10 mins goes by our food arrives. My lobster risotto is tepid and my partners Shepards pie is burning hot.Disappointed that our last meal in NYC was not as wonderful as all the rest.
What a magical night at the infamous Oscar Wilde NYC! What a treat. The Alice in Wonderland theme was outrageously fun and whimsical. The cocktails didnt disappoint either. My passionfruit cocktail with white chocolate garnish was superb!! This place is a complete atmosphere and vibe that definitely adds to the experience.
There is so much to see at the Victorian-themed bar and restaurant. The atmosphere is kind of fascinating with so much to see in every direction. I think I could have wandered around just looking at everything for an hour. The cocktails and food were SOOOO good.FUN FACT: This place has the longest bar in NYC.
Came here for an afternoon cocktail - beautiful atmosphere and the cocktails were delicious. The hosts and bartenders were all very short/cold/unenthused, but the service wasn’t too slow and the pros still outweighed the cons.
Absolutely loved my evening at this unique bar on W 27th Street NYC. The place was buzzing and the lavish and intense Xmas decorations were fabulous. I had a great Caesar salad with chicken and a very good Long Island Iced Tea. Will certainly return on another visit to NYC.
100 points only for the atmosphere here..the decor is soo good that you should visit this place once only for decor nothing else ..the drinks are great food is also good and the music and vibe is soo good that you should be enjoying here … Never got bored here had fun times always
My friend and I had brunch here and the food was delicious! My friend got the Lillian Bland drink and said it was sweet and really hit the spot. I got to enjoy the Wilde Brunch Burger with fries. You get a good amount of food for brunch and the price wasnt too expensive compared to other brunch spots nearby. Also, we loved the fun, eclectic, and lively atmosphere/vibe.
An incredibly festive place to spend with your loved ones and friends. We were here during Christmas and it was awesome. Reserve ahead of time. We got lucky and found a couple empty seats at the bar. The negroni was expertly crafted and served in excellent vintage like cocktail glasses. The house whiskey was delicious. Would highly recommend.
The food at the Oscar Wilde is pretty good, and so is the service. But when I ordered pancakes, they bid the burnt ones at the bottom so that you couldn’t see it. Also, when you come to this restaurant, if it comes with a choice you have to tell them what you want. This food is very fresh and good. The waiter was holding my water bottle. That doesn’t mean the service is very bad. When we took photos, the waiter moved the sign out of the way, and made conversation with us.
Quite the enjoyable experience. Everything was fully decorated in Christmas decorations. Music played through the speakers; not too loud but loud enough to set a vibe. It was a mix of Millenial Music and Xmas Music. We ordered a drink called I forgot my lines it was soooo good we ended up getting 5 more! Next we ordered chicken and waffles as well as the french toast. This was the BEST chicken and waffles I ever had! The french toast too, was top tier. The service as well was top of the line. Before we left we went to the bathroom which was located downstairs. Certainly not what I expected. There were so many old looking portraits from a different time period. Very aged decorations that transported you into a different era. The bathroom had such an old radio that played eerie radio sounds. It truly reminded me of walking through a haunted house. Felt like I was transported to another era. Very interesting to say the least.10/10 recommend!
I ordered the gnocchi and salmon. I like the salmon more since it’s juicy and tastes good with the sauce. The truffle gnocchi is a bit disappointing, bc the gnocchi is too soft and not chewy. Overall, the service, decor and atmosphere is really nice!
This place is unique! Great atmosphere, good food and service, the bartenders are super nice and friendly! Christmas decorations are stunning! Came here for a brunch and for a dinner and will be back soon! 10/10 - loved this place!
What a treat. I love the decor, enjoyed a cocktail and had a really good burger and fries.
6:30pm reservations. Got a text to pay check and leave. Hard to leave 2 hours later when we don’t have our food. 8:33pm finally got last entree order. Salads take over 2 hours, I guess. Just come for a drink. Don’t come to eat.
The cocktails were delicious and refreshing, when you taste the blood and sand cocktail you can experience the taste of whiskey fused with sweet vermouth and cherry heering, it’s a sensation of indescribable flavors. This was one of my favorites, the perfect cocktail for these winter nights. The food and the service was really good. Everything was on point 10/10 ⭐️👌🏻
Amazing place, 100% service, call Daniela and she will solve everything OK, I always recommend it 👏👏👏🇺🇸
A very unique bar themed around Alice in wonderland! Has excellent food, custom made cocktails, and the atmosphere even if you are unfamiliar with the movie is worth the visit. Dinner started at 4 and they were able to seat a table of 7 since we got there without a reservation at that time.
Great experience, lovely environment, nice xmas theme. Service was really good, long wait for food but they did feed us an appetizer on the house.I had the lobster roll which was very good, but small portion. Drinks were good but also small. Would go back .
They have a good collection of cocktails and they go all out on the decor that changes every few weeks but this place is always loud. Not ideal if you wanna have meaningful conversations
I went during the holidays and while it was packed with people it was still worth while. To say their decorations are over the top would be an understatement. It’s loud, it’s kitschy and it’s incredible. The spectacle is worth it
The atmosphere is the highlight at this place. My friend and I got the chicken and waffles and it was good enough. Not bad but not amazing either. That being said, we thoroughly enjoyed the decor. The Alice and Wonderland theme was so well done! We definitely left with tons of photos and selfies for the gram.
Atmosphere was so unique ! The food was delicious!! Highly recommend the Buffalo cauliflower cans the octopus ! 10/10!
It was really good food, drinks, and amazing atmosphere. Id go back again in a heartbeat. My only complaint is that they dont mark their menu with GF for gluten free. I ordered the steak and potatoes thinking I couldnt go wrong, but quickly learned it marinated in something with wheat. The server promptly offerred something different and took the steak off of my bill. Swapped it for the shrimp ceviche which was superb.
Amazing place!!! You must visit, I normally drink a few times a year, and I visited this place and tried the drinks, wow, so beautiful and fresh delicious drinks, so recommended place, staff are super helpful and nice. I tried a few dishes and they were amazing too. Thank you for an excellent evening.
It was my first time to be here and I went with my friend for chines New Year party and it was a great and fun bar we had lots of fun there and I really suggest to anyone wants to have a good experience of nightlife in Manhattan, NYC.
This place has a great vibe. But the atmosphere gets killed with extremely poor service. Rude should be their middle name.1. They give the table for the booking at least 15 mins late. Now this has happened twice at this place.2. Their staff kept dropping drinks with glass shattered, very careless and rude.
Atmosphere is probably the most unique bar experience. Delicious drinks and crazy, wonderful decorations.
This place was an absolutely breathtaking and incredible experience! We were in awe with the atmosphere and impressed by the intricate details. We couldn’t recommend this eccentric spot more!
A charming place with late hours for dining. The decor is fantastic. We had the chicken dumplings, octopus and shrimp ceviche for appetizer and they were superb. The arugula salad and clam pasta were first class.
Never even made it inside! Whats the purpose of reservation system if people have to stand outside in the cold in practically live line? Yes, nice decor, but no organizational skills.
Beautiful, gorgeous , amazing Christmas spirit. I told the bartender to recommend a drink, anything with a holiday vibe and he Presented me with the a delicious drink. Had just the right amount of spice. Wish I would have remembered the name.
Not sure why this place isn’t rated higher. I came in on a Wednesday night, it was super busy, but managed to find a table for two.Staff friendly, cocktails are great and incredibly efficient given how busy they were! I’d recommend this place.
This was a very fun place. My group had a fun time picking out our favorite decorative pieces around the bar and restaurant and our cocktails were just perfect.
An English Old School Library style Pub serving the best Smoked Old Fashioned in the city. Service is fast and attentive. Bartenders are skilled and there is plenty of bar space. They have outdoor seating and a party hall. Food options are decent and sophisticated bar food. Overall a great experience.
This place was really fun for christmas! Really crazy decorations and christmas music blasting! The food was just ok though. We got the chicken sandwich which was fine but a bit dry. The fries were really good! The pork bun appetizer wasnt my favorite and the caeser salad was just normal. The apple crumble dessert was really good though so a bit of a mixed bag on the food.
Absolutely amazing atmosphere, fun, exciting and one of a kind experience!
Really fun decorated place, but overcrowded and loud. You could barely understand your neighbor. Drinks were great though. I recommend the spicy tequila cocktail.
You would think it’s a small cocktail bar, but as you enter a whole new story revival itself. Amazing space with a combined 20s & 19s decor.Cocktails very good, pricey (average for nyc) really enjoyed it!
My friend wanted to see the Christmas decorations at Oscar Wilde so I made a reservation for a Wednesday night. Glad I did because the place was packed. We were seated in a great people watching spot. Our host Jessica introduced herself and took our initial drink orders. Their entire menu is on a QR code which is super convenient so we didnt have to thumb thru pages. While waiting for our drinks my friend and I chatted as we took in the sight of an abundance of Christmas decorations. Did not disappoint! My first cocktail was the Writers Block, followed by Bridgid of Kildare, then the Espresso Martini. The Martini was soooo yummy I got a second! Hats of to the mixologists for getting the perfect balance of fruitiness and alcohol in all our cocktails. For my meal, I had the Berkshire pork chops with roasted carrots while my friend got the Wilde cheeseburger with a side of fries. Done to perfection and delicious. For dessert we shared a chocolate decadence cake. Yum-mmmmy,!! There was never a point when we had to wait too long for our food or drinks. The waitstaff we interacted with were friendly and attentive.I also have to say a special thanks to our host Jessica for being awesome. She was patient and helpful while offering suggestions and answering any questions we had. She really hooked us up with the Espresso Martinis. Cant rave enough about her. Job well done!
Great place with good music. Its a great spot if you want something to do with no waits for lines. Its spacious as well. Food was surprisingly amazing. Ordered from the late night menu and they were very accommodating. Would visit it again.
Chaos.Such a shame to have to leave a bad review but again, I can only review based on my experience. We had a booking at 3:30pm on Christmas Day. When we arrived at 3:20 we were told by the doorman to show proof of the booking before he would even let us in. Then when we got in, it was absolutely packed with people queuing. I went to the front to say I had a reservation and the lady told me to go to the back of the queue and wait. Once that queue went down, we were spoken to by another lady who told us to wait to the side of the bar until we were called. Finally, after around 25 minutes we were called and shown to our table, our waitress came over and took our drinks order. 20 minutes later, the drinks arrived and we ordered food. As we say around waiting for food, you could see just how overbooked this place was. Several groups of people were being guided to a single chair at the bar and upon realising it was one chair, they left. Only when a group of three arrived at it, did it eventually resolve itself. They were huddled behind my wife - basically on her shoulder - for around 20 minutes and then another couple of the seats next to the one they were waiting for, left, releasing two more chairs and allowing them all to sit so we werent looked over while eating our food...which still hadnt arrived. Our drinks had arrived though. A $60 bottle of Pinot Grigio and a mocktail for out daughter. I always like to have a Google to see how much the wine should be. It cost $8.50 wholesale, fair enough, its a nice establishment but wow, what a mark up. $8.50 to $60! The mocktail was basically pineapple juice with something else in which made it unpleasant. We sent it back and got a coke ($12 for a small glass!).Finally, the food arrived at 5:55, nearly 2 1/2 hours after our table was booked. Fish and chips, shepherds pie and chicken and leek pot pie. The two pies were tasty but the fish was raw, ruining the whole experience as our daughter was understandably upset by this. The waitress agreed to remove the mocktail and fish and chips from the bill and we left after having one course and slamming a bottle of wine down at record time because it took so long to arrive, $170 lighter even after the deductions. The place is trimmed up to the point of ridiculousness, but its still nice to see. The staff are abysmal. Uncaring, surly, absolutely no interest in what they do or any expertise in handling situations.Yet another Instagram place in NY.
A bit of a joke, and a definite pass. This place has the longest bar in NYC and its quite impressive. The drink menu is unique, but overpriced. However, the service is deplorable on every level and the decor is questionable. TikTok has put this place on the map, but for no reason what-so-ever. This place isnt worth the effort, time, or expense. NYC has two other bars with a similar vibe that are better. Try one of those instead.
Lively restaurant and bar. They served one of the better gin and tonics I’ve had in the city.Really fun atmosphere and decorations.
The drinks were a D+ or a C- and expensive. The atmosphere was a A+. Took about 30 minutes to get our drinks and that was with a reservation. Can’t say I would go back.
I’ve been in love with this place since 2019, the cocktails, food and ambiance. The staff is nice and knows the menu. I’m always satisfied anytime I come here.
A delightful overwhelming of the senses when one enters this magical space with knick knacks, furniture, furnishings of a bygone era and portraits of all the great Irish writers. Delightful staff - especially loved the vivacious Kayla in her jaunty bowler hat! Great selection of beers & wines as well as witty titled cocktails. Even going to the bathroom is an experience where an old wooden radio was playing podcasts of early radio shows. Food is a tad overpriced for what you get but was delicious. My only major gripe is that there was no Colmans Mustard!
Food was beyond excellent, service was horrible. Server was a scammer. We came in, waited 15 minutes at least for our server, as she finally approached us she insinuated we sat ourselves (the very kind host sat us), she rushed us for our order, didn’t even let everyone at the table order before leaving, acted annoyed when we wanted to finish placing said order, a person within my group asked her to come back for a drink order and she never reappeared, after we got our food she never asked us if everything came out okay and if we needed any drinks or anything, as a server i know it’s common sense to do these things. The busboy was the nicest and friendliest person there. After we finished she rushed up to us to pay, not even asking how the meal was, then accounted for the number of people at the table wrong and added more, i’m not sure if she gets a bigger included gratuity or whatever if she adds more people, but she then got nasty when i told her it was wrong! she also failed to tell us it was included and didn’t even give a second to think. No thank you or anything for a 50% tip on $150 bill. If it wasn’t for the food and atmosphere I would never think about going there again. Would 100% want my money back and would love for management to help with this issue.
Fav place after a long time. You get walkins but reservations are recommened for tables. And the place is big but they squeeze in tables. So walkins do really have space to fit in. Right now they have halloween theme and drinks and great, vibe is amazing, food is amazing. Recommened 100%
This venue is beautiful BUT the service was rude and inconsiderate. We had confirmed reservations, but were treated like walk-ins. Granted it was one of busiest possible days (Pride Sunday), but they acted as if we should feel lucky to eat there. In fact, while our friends were taking photos of themselves at the bar, performers in the background demanded $10 for photos!?!THEN after only 1 hour of being seated, we were told we had to give up our table (and no, there was no prior mention of time limits AND there were other empty tables around us). In fact, the table next to us left because they were never served their meal.I heard the maitre d talking to staff about how important it was to prepare for an influencer coming shortly, so I knew then where their priorities were. Nevertheless, we tried to enjoy Pride by just being with our friends. So in the end, Oscar Wilde was a mixed bag - great location to meet friends BUT horrible at promoting any joy or sense of unity. (And if you were wondering, the food was okay - if you actually get it in time - and priced accordingly to the location).
Awesome place, great ambiance, and food came out great! The Steak & Smash was perfectly cooked and very well priced for NYC. Our bartender/server was Abal (I believe his name was, was hard to hear with the bustle nearby) made awesome drinks with super care and tasted awesome, and was very great taking care of us. Would venture there again when in town!
Decor inside is quite cool but the food is not great and the portions are TINY. Im a petite sized girl and dont even eat that much and I felt hungry after ordering a snack and a main.I ordered the clams and uni fettuccine and wasnt impressed. I could barely see any Uni let alone taste it...and pasta is so cheap I dont know why they cant give you more. My husband ordered the steak and the size of it was like a tiny sausage. Ive never seen a smaller steak in my life. I wish I took a picture. It was legit a joke.Drinks looked good for photos though. I get the vibe this is more a place for drinks than a place for food.
We were walking in midtown, when the inside decor caught our eye. We decided to stop by Oscar Wilde and boy, we made the right decision. The bar is huge and yet feels cozy. We were able to find a place easily. There are number of bars within the restaurant. The staff is attentive. We ordered the Absinthe Drip and the Mojito. Both were really nice.Definitely will visit this place again.
Whenever I come to NYC to get my friends together, it’s always a gathering at Oscar Wilde. Why? The service is incredible (special shoutout to the fab Emily for suggesting Shrimp Skillet), the cocktail menu is always evolving and delicious, the food grade A+, and for the ambience. Y’all have seriously stepped up the interior even more so and love this spot so much.
