This place has been a staple for me these past few years! Their quesadillas are literally the best ive ever had, and they are my go-to thing to flex on friends/family that are visiting. The menu shifts seasonally and you can tell the chef takes care with evolving the menu. Love it here
I’ve been a loyal patron of Oso for months, often enjoying the atmosphere and service. However, my recent experience was deeply disappointing. Upon arriving with friends for drinks, we were immediately questioned about having a reservation—something that has never been required during my previous visits. As I observed the environment, it became evident that service and hospitality were being selectively extended, favoring a particular demographic. This left me and my group feeling unwelcome and disrespected.Discrimination, whether subtle or overt, is unacceptable in any establishment, especially in a diverse community like Harlem. As a result, I took my business to Fumo’s Italian restaurant, where I was warmly welcomed.I will not return to Oso, nor will I recommend it to others. Businesses that fail to embrace inclusivity often lose the trust and support of the very community they depend on. I hope Oso reflects on this feedback and takes meaningful steps toward change.
Always have such a good experience when I dine here. The food is incredible. Drinks are tasty and fun. The staff is always so welcoming and lovely. Definitely recommend for a date night or a night out with friends! Oh and the churros are out of this world!
The Classic and Spicy Margarita were the best my partner and I have had in the entirety of Harlem. We shared the birria and carnitas tacos, 10/10 for sure. Amazing Service by our waiter, Camilo, especially when learning about their everyday Happy Hour, we took advantage and ordered more drinks🥰🥰 Right across from City College so extremely convenient for students and their friends. Highly Recommend!!!
This restaurant is phenomenal. The food is fantastic! So much so that we came on Cinco de Mayo and waited for a table just to get in. They do have 2 for 1 specials on drinks, but otherwise no other deals or happy hour specials. The seating is well spaced considering the restaurant is smaller. Being able to see into the kitchen as they make the food makes it that much tastier. I really feel connected when I can see them fresh pressing the tortillas 😋 Its very cool. I will say, the fish taco was my least favorite of the foods we ate. I felt like the actual fish got lost under the delicious sauce and well seasoned breading. It was overall tasty, but I wasnt getting much fish flavor with all the other stuff going on. Regardless, EVERYTHING we ate was BOMB and we will be back!Ate: guacamole, pulpo, tacos- fish, birria, al pastor
I’m in the top 10% of Mexican restaurant reviewers and I can say with certainty that this is the best elevated Mexican restaurant in New York.#1: their tortillas were incredible.#2: they have a trombone for authentic al pastor.#3: they’re spin on churros, which were more like a crueler donut, were out of this world.Ceviche was good as were the tacos and chips. It was an absolute treat and a shock that I could walk into this place. I hope they don’t move downtown!Sorry about this pictures - I was so hungry!
This place was such vibes! Everything was delicious. Only came for food, so not sure on drinks. But i’m sure they are just as good! Service was great, perfect attention. Definitely returning to try other plates and drinks.
I have been coming to Oso for the past two or so years and it has always been a hit. I usually go for their birria tacos or quesadillas, the cochinita pibil, or their daily tamales. I absolutely (and all the bartenders know) love their Taco Truck margarita. Everyone is so friendly, I had such an enjoyable conversation yesterday with the bartender and the waiter (I forgot their names, I was too lit from the Taco Truck lol). Also, shoutout to Ashley who served me and my friends for our pre-Halloween dinner a few weeks ago - great service.
First timer. Ordered the guac & Al pastor tacos with a side of rice & beans. I was worried about the portion size but my appetite was satiated. Totally forgot about dessert so I gotta go back and try the churros.
I’m going to make this simple, “Yes”Anything and everything on the menu you choose is going to be great; savory and tasty and ‘may I please have some more’. The taco truck lived up to the hype but I also tried “Oh she spicy” because I like a bit of spice in my life. Tamales were great, esp with the salsa verde. My taste buds loved the quesadilla birria. Brussel Sprout Tacos were on point. I was grateful for that as well as other the non-carnivore options. Desserts shined: churros too good to last through writing a review. Horchata ice cream (what?!?). Yes, it was delicious. Tres leche …what’s not to love?
Overall, my first visit was well worth the $25 for 3 loaded tacos and a bowl of pozole. The flavors were rich and the chips are salsa were free 99;-) The waiting staff was attentive and swift. Authentic Mexican food for sure. Go get your tacos on, NYC style!
I really wanted to like this place and give it a good review, but unfortunately it is only 2 stars. Food is waaaay overpriced for the quality. 21$ enchiladas were way too salty and tasteless. You can get better enchiladas from any food truck for half price. 16$ Hongos en adobo tasted like waste from the juice maker, it looked good tho. We didnt like our food, and wont be coming back. For the price you can find way better restaurants in NYC
Wonderful, delicious Mexican inspired spot! One of my favorite places we have visited this trip to NYC. Very nice food and good cocktails as well. The whole atmosphere when you walk in is light and beautiful, really adding to the experience.Highlights for me: pescado taco, elote, chips and guacamole. All of the food was good, but to elevate just a bit more, I’d change a few small things. The pozole was good, but a bit too spicy to eat. It would be very nice complemented with a tortilla or type of bread, still staying true to Mexican cuisine. Also, the two meat tacos - I would’ve preferred just a bit less meat and more condiments to compliment the tastes.Excellent service, which is always appreciated. The server we had clearly loved the restaurant and was able to genuinely give recommendations and information about the menu. Always a plus.Pricing: to me, pretty reasonable, especially for NYC. You can get plenty of food for $10-15 if that’s what you want to shoot for. 3 tacos is $12.Will definitely return and recommend this restaurant to others! Thanks Oso!#oso #mexican #tacos #elote #pozolerojo #pescado #barbacoa #lengua #newyork #ny #nyc
By far the coolest in the neighborhood: amazing food and great drinks. We love the quesadillas and cocktails. We have also tried their whole fish which is delicious. A real favorite.
The atmosphere was nice and the tacos were good. The food felt overpriced. Definitely more than is listed in Google. Given we went with children, we were conscious of the cost when choosing a restaurant for dinner. The wait staff gave us a nice bogo happy hour special which was appreciated bc the drinks were delicious 😋. The guacamole was good but the serving side was on the small side. Overall, it wasnt a bad meal but wouldnt go out of our way to return.
Love this place, being Mexican American I approve. Amazing food & drinks! Quesadilla for an appetizer is a must (shared for sure), don’t forget you order the elotes!
This is our third time here and each time weve been treated with so much warmth and kindness! On top of that, the food is amazing. Fresh and so flavorful.Plenty of great options for vegetarians and the decor and overall vibe is great.
Amazing tacos al pastor. I can’t wait to try the rest of the menu. Definitely worth a try if you are in the neighborhood. The torta was unique in its flavor.
Delicious take on Mexican inspired food. We had the octopus and the torta and they were both exquisite. The octopus was cooked to perfection and the torta was very flavorful. Their cocktails are well balanced and the staff is attentive and very nice.
Great Mexican food in the city is like a dream when you are from Cali. Dreams do come true.
A very elegant yet casual Mexican restaurant at City College. I ordered a classic margarita. Which came out delicious. The corn chips here are real! Tortillas cut up and fried. The salsa was too spicey though. And i like spicey. The skate ceviche i found a bit bland. Served with plantains (carribbean style vs pacific style) but beautifully presented. Full of green chilis. Interesting how some chefs want to kill you. I ordered the fish tacos (fried), the mole (on chicken) and the barbacoa. All bland. Sorry! The mile is a sauce poured over shredded chicken. When the meat is cooked separately from the sauce then u dont get that amazing combination of juices (animal fat) mixing together. The fish taco - you usually taste just the fried. I didnt taste either. The barbacoa was my favorite and usually it is my least. But all beautifully presented. Womp womp. I will say this: some of the best tortillas in nyc. They do tortillas right!
Oso is an instant favorite and hope to get back there ASAP. Firstly: Hands down the best Mole Ive found outside of Mexico -- quite possibly overall. Served in a taco made with one of the best homemade tortillas Ive had and its a phenomenal dish Im still dreaming about 36 hours later. The barbacoa taco is very remarkable too; barbacoa being one of my familys mainstays, Ive got a wide frame of reference. Osos is successfully succulent, savory, and soft to the palate -- one inhales it and quickly orders seconds. To round out my taco order: lengua -- a delicate option only attempted by a bold Mexican restaurant -- and Osos interpretation does not disappoint. A wonderful marriage of flavors both sweet and savory are driven home with a unique tenderness that almost melts in your mouth. As an appetizer I had the pozole verde and it was quite tasty, refreshing, and satisfying. To round out my meal, the intricate Coup de Khan cocktail provided a smoky, sweet, and sour refresher. Others in my brunch group ordered the enchiladas, chilaquiles rojos, and quesadillas and were all very, very content. One person even managed to have room for dessert and had a very enviable order of churros I hope to get next visit. You know a meal is amazing when no one says anything because theyre busy eating. Thank you for a great meal, Oso.
Love the tacos, amazing cocktails, service with a smile!
Oso offers a creative spin on Mexican classics that I thoroughly enjoyed. The watermelon salad struck a perfect balance of savory, fresh, and slightly sweet flavors. The birria tacos, while not traditional, were still delicious, and the consommé was so good I ended up drinking it by itself. And dont skip desserts – the churros were soooo good and the portion was generous. Highly recommend!
Everything is delicious! Pork belly is insane!
Oso is one of my top 3 favorite restaurants in West Harlem. The food is delicious, the margarita is the best, the staff is great and the place / vibe is really nice.
Decent tacos, but nothing special. A little pricey. Al pastor was good and coliflor tacos are alright.
Drinks are delicious, tacos are amazing. And you can mix-and-match 3 tacos for $12!! (A lot of places dont allow you to do that.)
Amazing place! Drinks are great & food is delicious!Highly recommend! Great job overall
Delicious. Best quesadilla Ive had in a long time. They make their own tortillas! Fish and shrimp tacos were also good.
Great service, delicious cocktails and food!
Decided to stay in the neighborhood to try out. Only seats they had for 2 was outside or in backless highchairs which is no good for me. I was not even offered a wait list for table, just I am sorry they had nothing available as the tables was reserved. Will not even attempt to go there in future.
The food is decent, but the happy hour policy is confusing and your server will happily scam you if you’re not careful. We were told that you have to order two of the same drink in order to get 50% off both. We did this for two rounds, and were ultimately charged for 4 full-priced drinks because we “weren’t supposed to change our drink order.” Even the first round, which was placed before 6pm, was charged full price. When asked to clarify the policy, our server Ariana was very condescending and did not offer to help. The guac is nice but absolutely not worth $14. Birria tacos were flavorful and bigger than I expected, albeit the $14 price is still steep. The mole sauce on my enchiladas was flavorful but a bit watery and there was an unpleasant bitterness to the lettuce garnish or something else in the enchilada. The food made us want to go back and try more, but we will not be returning because of the strange happy hour policy and unhelpful staff. I have been to many happy hours all over the city and have never seen such a policy.
If you want high quality and delicious Mexican food, Oso is the place to go. Besides great food, you will also receive wonderful service in a pleasant atmosphere. I highly recommend Oso. Try the tacos.
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING ALL AROUND!!!Such incredible food and drinks. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The Pozole was amazing. We sat at the kitchen bar and watching the chefs execute each dish was absolute food porn. RECOMMEND!!!!!
Go for cocktails and stay for dinner :-)Super easy access - subway or bus direct from and to the rest of manhattan all the way on 3rd avenue to soho in front of the restaurant
Really wanted to try this restaurant, but when asked for a table for two they werent very accommodating. We would have waited if they said it would have been twenty minutes or an hour but only giving us the option to eat outside when we said it was chilly out. Give me options and not make one for me. Disappointed and wont come here again.
Amazing Place very friendly, the Food delicious and the margarita the best 🤩… I love guava margarita..
Love it! Very nice ambience, great food, big portions, and very very affordable. We ordered tamales, and tuna ceviche as appetizers. For mains - we ordered burrito, and quesadillas. Portions were so filling that we took half of the order to go. All with tips was about $66 for two people! (Which clearly was for more than two people as we took a lot to go). Plenty of seats -indoors, outdoors, and at the kitchen. At night, the restaurant is dimly, romantically lit, making it a perfect spot for a date.
The Spicy Classic was the best spicy marg Ive had in the city. Everything we ordered was fantastic, including tacos, elote, and the octopus. The churros were also fresh and to die for. Will 100% be coming back.
Great restaurant in Hamilton Heights. We ordered the birria tacos, elote, and the birria burrito bowl. The food was flavorful. The drinks were also great. I’m giving this place five stars because of the service. There was a small mistake on our bill. The staff handled the issue so quickly and graciously. Definitely recommend.
I came across this place on my FYP and it did not miss! The ambiance here was just what we were looking for that evening. Something low key, good music, great drinks and amazing food! We tried the Taco Truck and Spicy Classic 😯 Margaritas , both Amazing!!!! Started with Guac and Chips. Very fresh! Elote, pozole (no chicken for me) but Im sure it would still be epic! Birria Burrito Bowl and a Shrimp Burrito......there wasnt a grain of rice left on the plate. Peter was our server that evening and he was an absolute pleasure. We will definitely be back sooner than later. Wait.....the churros.......the churros.......trust me , get the churros!
Came here for happy hour time. Most of drink were half price till 7 pm. We loved it.The waiter was very friendly and attentive.Food were also good. They refill the chips frequently enough. But one of tacos was cold...I liked the fish taco most. Guacamole was great too. Will come back for different tacos.
Food was overpriced for the quality.Only a good dish was butternut squash salad.Corns, limes, chicken in enchilada were not fresh at all, so dried & smelly. I think they used ingredients that were supposed to discard.Limes were hard to squeeze since it’s too dried. Corns were not juicy at all. I felt like I had leftover food.I was expecting to churro since it had many of good reviews . However somehow churros had onion smell. After one bite, I couldnt eat due to smell of onion. I assumed they cooked with the same oil that they fried onion or something like that.fish& shrimp & pork tacos , enchiladas were not tasty. So I needed hot sauce to made food better .They charged for small portion of hot sauce. This was one of the terrible meals I’ve had.
The food was plentiful and well prepared.
I went to Oso with three friends. I was welcomed in by friendly staff. The restaurant was small, but the atmosphere was pleasant. The staff was attentive and provided excellent service.I started with the hibiscus lemonade. It was different but very good. I enjoyed the guacamole and chips. It wasnt extraordinary, but you will enjoy it. For my entree, I had a birria bowl. It was AMAZING! Wonderful flavors and a good portion. They have similar options for vegetarians. I will definitely go back to Oso.
Meh. The service and ambiance were excellent. But the food was so, so. But the desserts were wonderful! The churros and gelato are to die for! I agree w other reviewers that the tortillas were good. The cauliflour tacos and the salad were so-so - I ate them but not with interest or gusto, the tortilla soup was beautiful but not yummy - ordered by 3 of us and none of us took more than a few bites.
This is absolutely the best Mexican restaurant in Manhattan, and probably all of NYC. Margaritas are smoky and flavorful while being exquisitely crafted. Our chips and guacamole were truly delicious. The chips weren’t greasy but instead perfectly salty and crunchy. Tacos were to die for, including the potato taco! The meat was fresh, flavorful, and delicious. Service was extremely fast and professional. Will be returning every single chance I get!
Ordered for the first time today. The ordering platform is easy and convenient. The estimated delivery time is accurate. It was a very cold night and the food was slightly cold but we didnt mind. The food is not very authentic Mexican food but it tastes good. I paid extra $2 for cameron but there didnt give me that so I minus one star. The thing I like is that you have to order cutlery otherwise they dont give you which is really good for the environment.
Absolutely amazing food & drinks! Spicy margs are fuego, & their tacos are filling! Highly recommend!
Tasteless non Mexican food. Very disappointing. Soup awful , burritos like dishwater
Fantastic food! Went with a group and we all shared, each taco had a lot of great flavor and was unique. There was also a cool mural, the place has a nice vibe. The churros were also excellent.
Great setting. Great service. Bite size tacos at an affordable price. Fresh ingredients in the margarita. Was quiet at around 3:30p but makes me wanna come back at a busier time to catch the vibes. DOPE spot!
The interior is absolutely stunning. I wish I could say the same about its menu options which is limiting. Ordered the birria tacos with consomé. The consomé came in a tiny cup size with large pieces of onions (view photo). What an absolute insult to the the traditional Mexican dish. The drinks were pretty good but extremely pricey. The meal itself was extremely expensive. I can get 3 Birria tacos and an order of consomé in Queens for better quality and a better price point. The service was decent. The decor was tasteful and the bathroom was clean at the time of visit. I’m not sure if I’ll recommend having a meal here but having a drink before your night start is recommended.I hope they improve their food quality and lower their prices a bit to make it more affordable for the amount of food that is served.
Tried almost all the tacos on the menu. We got them to go, which probably accounts for them being a bit soggy when we ate them. Some were better flavoured (barbacoa) than the rest. They were surprisingly expensive per taco. Service was very slow, but very friendly (they added in an order of chips and salsa because theyd been so slow.).
Its pretty easy to like this place from the moment you walk in. The decor is really awesome and sets the tone for seriously legit food and cocktails.First- the place is green because of their sustainability choices. Theyre wind energy powered which I appreciate and it seems like their location is quite efficient.Second- their ingredients are super legit and fresh. The cocktails are boozy and oh sooo good for a hot summer day. The tacos are plentiful and they have vegetarian options.Third- get the horchata ice cream- seriously. YUMMMM
Decent place to catch a bite. Honestly nothing here was disappointing, just not spectacular except the service. If youre in the neighborhood, and craving Mexican, then stop in. Best time to check Oso out is during its happy hour.Ambience:5 out of 10Service: 8/10Food: 6/10
This is not just another Mexican restaurant! This place is truly fantastic! Delicious food, so fresh, flavorful, and authentic! The guacamole is so good, and the tacos are sensational. Wonderful service, great vibe/ambiance. The cocktails are also super well crafted and delicious. One of the best Mexican restaurants Ive ever been to in NYC. Highly recommended.
I had never tried pozole and being the curious person I am I got it, and its great. It had a nice balance of spiciness, I love the lime with it. My brother was pleased with the tacos. Nice atmosphere and decoration of the place.
Combined nice atmosphere with high quality food. Liked the classy vibe and tacos were superb. Recommend the tingua tacos and shrimp!
The food is prepared well, and the drinks are exquisite. Was impressed by the quality of the food/drinks and service at this place. Will be going back again soon. Try the octopus!
I have NOOOOO idea what they did to this place but I wasted ALL my money and I will not be returning. Worst part was putting my ice cream in a small metal container with the plastic top with the folded sides. You know what my ice cream looked like right? Ooof! Im still mad! Spilled all over the rest of the food and ruined everything! I was going to go over there but I called. She only refunded the ice cream. So theres that! There must be a new chef because the rice is now yellow and the food was 🤮 I do not recommend it. Even the roasted corn was undone. I was starving! So I grabbed a bowl of cereal an milk and went to bed! I was livid!
One word: Delicious!
Hidden gem...great food and service. Went in on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. Shrimp taco was freshly made and quite tasty.
Pozole and Churros are standouts.A neighborhood favorite!
Absolutely a nice place for a date or juts a casual dinner with friends. Pretty close to authentic Mexican cuisine. The drink are awesome. Try the classic margarita at happy hour!
Nice atmosphere, flavorful food, good drinks. Lots of vegetarian options. Will be back for sure.
Update 2022: Best tacos in town!! I love the handmade tortillas. Birria tacos are spectacular.Great new Mexican restaurant in the area. A Mexican from Mexico city who is always trying to find best tacos in town (so me) recommends ;) Tacos were delicious!! I did not ask but it looks like the tortillas were handmade. Carnitas were excellent, perfect cooking and flavor. The taco al pastor did not dissapoint either. Guacamole was also very good. They could bring a little bit more salsa, but I know I eat more salsa than regular people lol The curros were not like regular churros, these were fluffy and soft. I really loved them! Even though they were already cold :( They can improve service speed. It was slow, very slow :( maybe because it was Sunday evening? I saw my churros ready to be delivered to my table for 10 minutes. But definetly I will come back and maybe I will sit at the bar instead
Like the vibe, friendly and hip but not pretentious. Lots of bar seating, very reasonably priced for Manhattan. Awesome that they serve Bohemia - by far the best of the major Mexican beers, but infrequently seen in NYC
We had a lovely experience here. The food was pretty good but not excellent. The shrimp ceviche was very fresh and lime flavored. We really liked the birria tacos with the consume but the cauliflower tacos were ok. My pozole verde had a nice fresh taste. The wait staff was kind but we waited a while for our food. They forgot the guacamole and chips and the chicken in my pozole but when we asked for them they were both brought out very quickly. We would recommend trying this place out but it is hard to give it 5 stars with so many excellent places in the city.
Food was delicious but tacos were very small for the price. Also had a ridiculous wait time (3 hours). There wasn’t any strategy on how to sit people to accommodate bigger parties. They just sat people as they came rather than try to make room for us, who obviously arrived first. Waiter also asked for a bigger tip, which was very unprofessional and ruined the whole experience.
Yum yum yum! This is my brother’s favorite neighborhood spot and it’s clear to see why. The margaritas slapped as did the guava cocktail. And 2 for 1 happy hour? Yes, please! We ordered the birria quesadillas and the enchiladas and let me tell you they were thicc, juicy and delicious. This place is a must try for any New Yorker.
Amazing food and even more amazing staff! Would definitely come back.
A pleasant surprise for our Harlem neighborhood. While the handmade tortilla and fresh margaritas were great, the watermelon salad stood out as a dish on its own! Really nailed it with the lemon, sunflower seed crunch, white cheese and arugula!
This was perfect for a small get together with friends. We enjoyed their Taco Truck cocktails, birria tacos, tamales and churros.
The food was very fresh with a lot of flavor. The drinks we great and happy hr is definitely worth taking advantage of!!!
Loved it. Tasty tacos and great service
Eating at Oso is about the experience, and what you experience here is unlike anything you will in NYC. The food is made with top ingredients by top chefs. The wait staff is kind and friendly. The vibe is exactly what you would want for a late night drink or romantic dinner that provides some edge. Overall this is a great addition to an already booming neighborhood and should keep serving delicious food to those that comeIn
I got the borrosa quesadilla and it was absolutely delicious, my boyfriend got the birria burrito and he really enjoyed it as well. The drinks were on point as well, would definitely recommend
The food was delicious
Good nice low key spot... but for happy hour price where regular... but still cheaper then a night out in the city... and the margarita are made just perfect for a buzz that you can still drive with... lol... I jk dont drink and drive but yeah its not bad...
I live in Hamilton Heights and am THRILLED that Oso has found its home here too. I am a very harsh critic when it comes to what restaurants call, Authentic Mexican food, but I have to say this food is on point! Every course offered a new world of flavor, from the watermelon salad, to the Bistec steak accompanied by the elote, to our ending course of Churros, each dish was delicious! Not to mention the cocktails, which were extremely impressive. I cant wait to try their brunch menu!!! Thank you Oso for being awesome. :)
Went her for date night , let Me start by saying this place is beautiful like they definitely got a good decorator .. That’s it . The drinks here range from 12 to 16 I had the diosa guava and although very tasty and well crafted very low on alcohol. Don’t expect authentic Mexican flavors here is definitely more Tex mex , we Had the shrimp tacos to start their basic nothing special and the best thing we tried very crunchy . also the elote priced at 8 dollars for two pieces of corn that really could’ve been better seasoned and some salt would’ve done the trick .Had the pozole verde and chicken enchiladas for main course ; the pozole was bland and was thin broth and enchiladas 3 for 21 dollars tasteless chicken and the worst salsa verde I’ve ever tried ; Overall a pricey place with great ambiance and very good service ( hence the two stars ) but a very mediocre product.
This has become one of my places to eat in the city. The guacamole is delicious, the barbacoa tacos are some the best Ive ever had. If youre ordering a drink, get the taco truck.
Excellent food and drinks, probably the best pastor in the city and the churros are great as well
Love this place, a solid choice for dinner and drinks out, or takeout/delivery! My favorite newer addition to the menu is the asparagus with sikil pak. Try it!
For what I read and saw I expected more. Tortilla Chips were old, beer glass was dirty, didnt even have good salsas for the tacos, tacos are ok, quesadillas they used mozzarella instead of Oxaca cheese. Decorations is great all around but I expected a real Mexican food specially when thats what they are trying to sell you. Service could improve and at least have someone that can pronounce their own menu. + Really over price.
I love this spot. Delicious happy hour cocktails!
Really cute place with spectacular bev. I will return to sample the other side of the menu!
We went for brunch. We had chorizo with scrambled eggs.. hand made tortillas (Yum!) Salad .. some kind of potato arepa?? And a mild salsa ... overall was good..
I was very please that the tacos shells are made from scratch. All items came out fresh and the kitchen is open for view. Thanks I will be coming back to try everything on the menu
They were very efficient with the reservation. This place has great food and a lovely environment. The food tastes amazing. The waitress was polite and quick.
Great tacos and tamales can be had here. I was not able to try all of the tacos but the ones I did were amazing. The pork taco were my favorite of the bunch. The tamales were moist and came with two flavorful sauces. The guac is quite generous in size. It gets busy and is a little small so get there early.
Burrio quesadilla and a margarita... enough said!
Great service and atmosphere; the food was reliable but perhaps not as exciting as we might have hoped—a little too much reliance on radish-based decoration. Fantastic guacamole.
Great Spot! Charming decor and warm staff sets the tone. Then when you realize the top notch quality of their food, you have a major winner. Keep up good work!
I was wondering what else can impress me in NYC, because we have every kind of food/restaurant in the town. Honestly, without any exaggaration, this Mexican food goes out of control at OSO.Briefly: Delicious & super cozy atmosphereHighly recommended!P.S try not to miss cocteles
Delicious blue corn quesadilla - the flavors went so well together. Asked for the marg spicy- too good - 11/10 overall, can’t wait to go back
Great atmosphere and food! Must try the Horchata ice cream!!!!
Great Birria Tacos!!!! My favorite taco place!!! I highly recommend this restaurant!
Everything about this experience was Oso Perfect!👌🏼 Intimate indoor dinning setting with a small but nicely done covered/partially enclosed outdoor (street-front) dining area. The rustic Spanish decor and design provides a conforming feel as well. The food though!…will have you coming back far more than once. Phenomenal menu with elevated classic dishes, as well as, more unique creations absolutely packed with flavor. Ideal to go with a group and order a bunch of dishes to share. Perfect spot to safely explore various flavor profiles and dishes you possibly haven’t experienced yet. The chefs tastefully pay homage to the cultures traditional recipes/flavors as well. All within a casual setting, friendly staff, and solid/efficient service.
Excellent service, delicious cuisine. Somewhat small menu and a non-authentic but very hip feel to the place. Would be good for a date.
Bartender can make a mean cocktail and is very knowledgeable! Food was flavorful and fresh. Looking forward to the next visit!
The birria quesadilla was amazing. Sadly i had to sit outside because i only had 1 dose of the vaccine 🥲
This place is known for its spicy margaritas!!you just cant stop at one!!
Great taco place. All the different tacos and the quessedillas were very tasty. The highlight was this cocktail called the Taco Truck. So good!
Absolute GEM of a restaurant!!! HIGH QUALITY FOOD. Like you would pay twice as much in midtown. Cannot believe how fresh everything was. Great service.
In the very near future, itll be standing room only. This place has some of the best food in Harlem and its just what the locals ordered. Go see Jon at the bar.
Tacos are super fresh and delicious! Plenty of gluten free options. Cool atmosphere, great service.
Hip taco spot in the 140s. Delicious tortilla, powerful flavors and an amazing soundtrack. Go there when you want to impress.
Nice decoration. Good quesadillas with pollo.Friendly servers.Horchata ice cream is the best thing, also the churros.
The spicy margarita and colifor tacos were delicious! The ambience and the decor is really nice too.
Waitress was pretty bad with a big group of 9. She had a bad attitude towards the group and overall was not attentive or nice.
Did delivery last night from Oso. So many great options. Can’t wait to dine in. Bowl with Tinga Chicken was delicious. Great guacamole.
Food could use a bit more spice and flavor, but it was a lovely restaurant, and the staff were extremely lovely. Would definitely go again.
Great food and margaritas. The quesadillas are a must too. There is also a tepache with a twist that is delicious
Some of the best Mexican food you will have. The restaurant is small but they make great use of the space. The drink menu is awesome and you cant go wrong with any of the drinks. The food menu itself is composed of tacos, some great appetizers, Mexican home cooking, and innovative Mexican dishe . I always go for pozole and tacos to start. They also have whole fried fish but everything is amazing (though a bit pricey) and made in an open kitchen. This will soon be your favorite place!
Absolutely awesome! Great food, great service, beautiful restaurant!
Oso restaurant delisious food, good prices, you can taste not only mexican food but can have the best diverse cocktails.
I enjoy Oso every time I go. A little on the pricey side, but still good. I usually get the enchiladas.
The food was fresh and Margaritas was fantastic the music, staff was very pleasant will definitely go back 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
They were so courteous! They even cut my corn from the cob!
Amazing interior and really good micheladas ! As far as the cuisine to be honest it was very ordinary and over priced . I also recommend asking the servers to explain what exactly each dish is comprised of because i was very disappointed when i received the dish pictured . $13 for literally one scrambled egg and three tortillas . Not cool ...
Amazing drink menu. The salsa is so good and the tacos are great too
Excellent place to visit after work or after college. The staff is very amiable and attentive. Food and drinks are affordable and the environment of the place is nice.
The girl that was there the morning of 12/12/19 was DISGUSTING! Now I will say the restaurant was closed (which I did not know nor was posted) and I was greeted ( DROM THE OPENED DOOR) with the worse response EVER. I will never even come back to this restaurant based on her interaction.
Oh. My. Gosh I’m not from here but I just moved here and I came with my friend and this place is Just across the street and it was amazing. The vibes are cute it’s a small intimate setting but the food is great. 2 for one drinks and good dessert but the main star of the show was our server. Andrew was the sweetest little guy. He came and checked on us so many times and was so kind and knowledgeable and felt like a friend. I will be coming here more often and asking for him every single time.
Went there with my fiancé. Food was decent but the happy hour policy is awful. Will not ever go back since the waitress is condescending, and the owner replies to your reviews trying to make you sound like an idiot.
Tasty cocktails and tacos & pretty great service. The shrimp tacos are addictive!
The burrito is quite decent. The quesadilla however needs work. Overall not a bad spot.
Fresh food, great drinks and super friendly staff. Great place for authentic Mexican food!
Really enjoyed the chorizo empanadas and the drinks were okay. I wasn’t a big fan of the sangria but the Michelle’s Cartel was great. Complimentary chips and some hot salsa. It was the Bartender’s first night and she was super friendly and welcoming! The space is beautiful but one downside is that the bar is right by the front door, which is awkward if you’re sitting right there.
Amazing brunch - perfect eggs, delicious chorizo and steak, great cocktails and the best brownie ever.
Great place to meet up for that first date. Food was tasty and the drinks were spirited.
Great gathering place for authentic food. Cass and her crew are the BEST!
Always amazing!! Perfectly prepared and inventive. Superb drinks and always lovely service.
Mandy was a great bartender, and Chris was a great server! Get the Taco Al Pastor
Incredible service with a nice atmosphere made this food perfect in every way.Corn ap is a must!
Crisp, refreshing, and tart margaritas. Yummy food too! Get the churros :)
Perfect little date spot in Harlem. Food is good! Most authentic Mexican spot in Harlem
Drinks were great and tacos were delicious Al pastor is probably my favorite
Great food, drinks, and staff. Never disappointed!
Great food great service. The staff makes you feel like youre with family, good family!
Great torta de milanesa. Awesome service. Place is really comfy and clean.
Delicious. Excellent staff. Inviting atmosphere. Love this addition to Hamilton Heights.
Delicious food, a little bit pricey but the place has a great environment!
Come for the upscale Mexican food and stay for the modern ambiance, delicious cocktails and great service.
Best mexican restaurant!! Staff is amazing food is delicious, thanks guys you are great*
The food was really good, but it was tapas style and overpriced.
Awesome cocktails like Diosa de Agave (cilantro)and Frida &Diego (like a Dark & Stormy) set the stage for some fine Mexican food. The Bistec is a hit and cooked to perfection. The Enchilada is delish. Bartender is a master of his domain.
The service was great as well as my fish tacos and margarita...👍
Great happy hour deals and food!
Drinks were delicious and the staff were very friendly. Highly recommend the Taco Truck margarita. Really good guacamole too
Great drinks, fun vibe, good shrimp tacos!
The food & service was exceptional. Looking forward to going back here again!
The place is beautiful and the food is beautiful but it was very expensive for a taco the size of a dime.
Good food. Good drinks. Friendly service. Worth the visit.
I ordered from here tonight — birria bowl, pozole verde soup, and chips and salsa. All are amazing and well priced. I can’t believe I haven’t been ordering from this place more often! I think it’s the best Mexican in the neighborhood and I absolutely love the birria. Such authentic flavors and high quality ingredients cooked to perfection. Thank you Oso!
I Love This Place 🤩💜 Great Food & Doggy Friendly 😁
I love the tacos and the churros with sauces and ice cream! Delicious!!!!
My daughter Nicole and her husband Jorge along with my grandson Soren have been going there for years. They say its great food servers are friendly and polite the Margareta are the best they every had. I was taken there for my Birthday and many more times! Food is awesome drinks are great prices are ok. The best is all the staff is amazing couldnt ask for a better place to enjoy a night out. I also sent a few people which I know one couple goes there at least once or twice a week, and they still thank me for putting the word out.Great job !
Best churros Ive ever had in nyc
Good atmosphere and nice to enjoy a Sunday dinner.
Great food, friendly staff, fun vibe. We sat at the bar and enjoyed some of Vans cocktails - all creative and well-prepared. Tamales were good as a starter, then we had the special - chicken mole - and the pork tacos. The special was SO good - the mole sauce was rich and delicious. And the pork tacos were also good. Finished the evening with the churros which were hot and tasty dipped in the caramel and chocolate side sauces. Well definitely be back!
Hey, what more can I say? The food is amazing, and I cant wait to visit Oso again. Oh, the bartender makes and serves drinks well. Also, the cook knows her craft, and I cant express my gratitude enough to the owner hes made us feel welcome.
The fish tacos were the best Ive had in the city
Oso is great! They have a nice HH and the food is awesome.
I hope they improve their food quality and lower their prices a bit to make it more affordable for the amount of food that is served.
This used to be one of my favorite go-to’s in the neighborhood. It’s still a cool space and the servers are friendly and very accommodating but the food is subpar. I ordered fish tacos which tasted like mackerel they were so fishy. There were just 2, topped with plain shredded cabbage and some red mayo with a wedge of lime on the side. The server was accommodating in switching them out for shrimp tacos. Even more disappointing though not fishy. The shrimp were fine- 4 batter fried. They were generously topped with plain chopped tomatoes and plain cucumbers as if to fill up the plate- basically salad without dressing. Except for the red mayo again. The tortillas were thin flour so doubled and fried too. This was taco truck level or less. Actually some taco trucks are pretty good..fortunately the Margarita hit the spot. But for nearly $40 I’d go to Dos Caminos next time. I got 3 tacos there along with a small side of rice and another of beans. Please up your game. You used to be a really great fun addition to the neighborhood.
If you want mexican food i would recommend going maybe anywhere else in nyc. this was the worst “mexican” food i have ever had and the prices were ridiculous, $18 for two small under seasoned tacos. $14 for the guac which came in a comedically small portion and tasted like nothing, is there even salt in the kitchen? limes? the one good thing was the drink, but still overpriced. this very much gave some white man’s take on mexican food with a menu crafted for his sensitive palette.
We had a reservation for five, we shared appetizers, a range of tacos, a couple of mains and dessert. The food was all exceptional. Well presented and tasty. Drinks were great. Service was fast and pleasant. Everything was reasonably priced.Would recommend getting a reservation for busy nights. A great experience, start to finish.
After booking and confirming a reservation for a party of 11, an extremely rude employee called me to cancel. There was no explanation and the guy was pretty offensive. I have gone here consistently since it opened - at least 30 times - but won’t be going back. While it is hard to find people that want to work right now, it looks like Oso has some pretty awful employees.
Great food and drinks
The tamales and shrimp tacos were really good.
I really like the place. Great wine
Pretty sure they make their own tortillas here, I was a fan of the tacos. Very tasty margaritas during happy hour. Pozole gets an 8 out of 10. I would like to see more variety of in house salsas.
We love this place. It is very chill and has great selections.
Small cozy place. Good food and very good drinks
Try everything
Really good , everything was perfect. no clue why it was so empty
Great spot. Food was good and staff was very accommodating
My experience at this establishment was quite unexpected, but there is a lot to say. Firstly, I will clarify I feel bad writing this because the staff there was so nice, and service was fast. Everything was fine besides one and most important thing, the food. The waiter was very patient and answered questions about the menu. The food came out so fast that I was a bit suspicious but glad because I was hungry. On this day, I fasted so this was my first meal of the day; remember that because it is important. I ordered the carnita burrito bowl and I will say, the individual I was with did like her food so perhaps I could have ordered the wrong thing. The pork was so rubbery and fatty, I could hardly eat it. I was about 10/10 hungry because I hadn’t eaten all day, and I could not finish my food. That is how much I did not like it. This was the first time in 2023 that I could not finish a meal, let alone when I couldn’t be more hungry. When ordering, I clarified I would like cheese in my bowl because I have cheese with everything and the waiter assured me my bowl comes with cheese. I don’t know what their definition of cheese is, but I got a few sprinkles of powdery parm which is not good enough at all. This is a Mexican restaurant (So I thought)? That means take your hand or whatever you use, get a big handful of Mexican shredded cheese, and dump it in the bowl. I worked at restaurants before, this is not an expensive ingredient so just be generous please. When a customer asks if the food comes with cheese because they need cheese (I literally said that to the waiter) it should be implied to add more than a few dusts of parm. That was NOT a serving of cheese and I need cheese on everything. I would have sent my food back, but I had company and did not want to cause any issues. My advice would be to take the carnitas off the menu or just change entirely how you make them because for me, it was almost inedible. The one good thing about the food was the Guacamole, but my bowl only had one scoop and was overtaken by the pork being unbearable. Had to actually spit it out, and apologize to my companion. I had to grab some fast food on my way home, but this was utter shock. I see good reviews for this spot, and like I said everyone was very nice. If you go, I suggest not touching the carnitas.
Listen. Go. Get some fish and shrimp tacos at Oso. I went on a Saturday afternoon and it happened to be happy hour. I had a spicy margarita. Yum!!! Gabby was super kind and accommodating. Oh and they keep the tortilla chips flowing if you order chips and guacamole. No need to ask. I like that. Ill definitely be going back.
We arrived 30 mins after they opened & were told it was happy hour. There was only beer & like 6 drinks available. I ordered a glass of Sangria ($14, was told wasnt a happy hour drink), it was iced wine with only a piece of orange slice clinging to the rim. We both ordered Enchiladas and was told rice, beans & Avocado was extra. We found the found the food tasteless... Our bill total $78. However the waitstaff was friendly & attentive. We will not be returning....
Good food, great service and nice environment!
Best tacos Ive ever had. The restaurant itself is small but adorable and the staff is always Pleasant. I would normally just go for lunch but recently went for happy hour and stayed because their margaritas are amazing. Great place to hang out and would highly recommend. And yes tacos are freaking amazing.
Dem tacos...bomb. dem cocktails...bomb diggity. Best margaritas!
Nice spot. Really small though. I had the shrimp tacos and it was good but VERY small ($13 for one)! The Guava Margarita was good but the drink selections were lacking overall. Staff was great.
Amazing service! The drinks are perfectly made.. and presented beautifully! The tacos: particularly the fish tacos are profoundly delicious! 10/10 would definitelyCome back here again!
Great drinks, very flavourful food
The atmosphere is great. Food not so much. It came out hot but lacked seasonings. Mexican corn was cold and overly charred. Rice and beans lacked taste and seasoning as well. How is it that they dont have a authentic sangera? Cant say that Ill ever go back. I gave one star for the waitress effort. It was her first day. DO NOT ask for hot sauce. Its a $3 charge. Place is diffently OVERRATED.
The best tacos, get the carnitas and the tinga tacos.
$7 for a side of rice and beans and you get white rice. Not Mexican white rice, just white rice and some black beans (not refried). The guacamole is overwhelmed with the flavor of lime and the tacos were okay but not amazing. Definitely overpriced, as many others have said. Really wanted it to be good, but wont be coming back.
Great food, excellent service! And as a person who cant eat cilantro one of the few places that will gladly remove it from almost any item
Great after work vibes, food was fantastic and service excellent.
Great food and good service. 👍🏼
Awesome ambience! Great staff! Amazing and delicious food! I had no idea I lived so close to such a great place. I most certainly will be back.
Great atmosphere! The bartender, Naomi, was super hospitable and whipped up some amazing cocktails! Thank you for the great service!
Delicious pancakes. The torta de chorizo has a very tasty combo of quality ingredients - but personally I think it should be a burrito… imagine a burrito but between two slices of bread, that’s what it is. Got pretty messy :)Will definitely order again. Maybe I’ll request the torta as a burrito if that’s possible.
