Rockbar NYC

I usually go to Rockbar on jockstrap night, and it’s always a blast! The atmosphere is super welcoming and inclusive of all body types, which creates a really positive vibe. The drinks are priced as you’d expect for a bar in the city, and the overall energy is just so much fun. Plus, the men—absolutely hot! If you’re looking for a great time with a friendly crowd, this is the place to be. Highly recommend!

Way too crowded. $14 for a single gon and tonic. Only one bartender, and it took just short of sending off a flare to get any attention. Bouncer asked for ID every time you go out for a smoke and come back.

The gay bar in NYC. While small, it has strong drinks and cheeky — cheerful staff. It is always bustling with daily events!

It’s a pretty cool and chill gay bar by the river. I only go for special parties like the Fade To Black monthly party. Great drinks. Friendly staff.

Awful place, they dont have nice drinks , they lie to you on the specials!!!!There was a benefit auction raffle that was supposed to be at 10 pm at it started one hour earlier without notice!!! Surprisingly the people who knew the personnel won the prizes on the raffle contest!NOT GO THERE!!!Photo below of the friends winner.. That laughing on us!

Not flashy, just a decent gay bar with lots of fine men and fun events

This is one of the remaining original bars on Christopher Street. Just a cool little dive bar with a nice ambiance.

Had the best night ever at Rockbar, I really felt welcome here, the drinks were great, the drag queens were very funny, the tunes were amazing and the cute bartender made my night. Also hot coat check guy. Would highly recommend !!!1!

This bar has a totally different vibe to many places Ive been to. No clicks, just good people who are welcoming and down to earth. Its small, dark but cozy in a way thats hard to describe.

Rockbar is always a good bar to have a quiet drink with friendly staff to keep you company. The music is entertaining with a nice clean atmosphere.

Double standard: I have been to this place multiple times, somehow only today the security asked for my foreign passport instead of letting me in with ID in English. Can there be consistency?

Been here 3 times.Friendly staff, good Drag shows, and drinks are great value.Bartenders should pour drinks in a glass though, especially when you order premium liquor, and not well, instead of serving it in a plastic cup. Or at least ask.Would go back though, was fun.

They didnt have food when we went. Drinks and prices were ok and the atmosphere was fun. Small space, relatively clean.

The drinks are just OK. The younger bar tender is kinda rude but the bearded bar tender was pleasant and made a terrific drink. Not much on atmosphere but would go back from time to time.

This was my first Bear Bar when I moved to NYC. It really is the stereotypical bear bar if you have any idea what that means. lol. Drinks could be better prices for the dive bar feeling it has but I enjoy myself when I go. They often have parties so check before you go to make sure its your vibe!

One star for the music. One star for the friendly staff.. However, when I entered and paid the $5 cover, I was SURE I gave the doorman a $20 bill... in fact, I only had $20 bills in my wallet, because I never carry cash and specifically went to the ATM to get cash for this bar night - and the ATM only dispensed me $20s (three of them, to be exact). He gave me $5 change. When I walked a few steps away and counted what he gave me, I went back and asked about the discrepancy- and he claimed I gave him a $10 bill. I double.. triple checked my wallet.. my ATM receipt.. there is absolutely zero possibility that I made a mistake. I didnt argue with him.. as this wasnt a hill worth dying on, nor worth making a scene about. But if I do go back, I will be extra vigilant at the door to make sure I count my change before stepping away from the doorman.As for the rest of the night.. I like the 80s music and I like the vibe of the bar. Drink pour was average.. and the crowd was very small, but friendly. Im just not sure Ill be back anytime soon, and that disappoints me because I feel like this could become a favorite.

One of the best bars ever. I stopped here a few times when I was in the area. The crowd is among the nicest of people. You don’t have to be a fit gym jock to fit in here. Dave the guy who was hosting the “egg plant” event made it a point to come up and introduce himself to me and thank me for coming. That’s not something that normally happens at bars. 5 stars all around from service to atmosphere!!

Everyone are welcoming! Just an amazing experience I had on New Year’s Eve, I was trying to decide in the beginning whether I should go out in the cold in Times Square or just enjoy myself at the Rockbar, I met such amazing people, not to mention a lot of handsome and gorgeous looking bears, to sociize with...its a very different vibe than the narcissist attitudes one gets at the Eagle...and the dancers are the most friendliest out there..! Keep up the great work!!!

One of my go to spots in Manhattan.They have events and shows every night, and even though it’s a “gay bar” it’s all inclusive. Gay, straight, trans all go there. I’m female, and there’s certain nights that are geared more toward gay men - I’m thinking the underwear party on Friday - they need their safe spaces so I def don’t go on those nights. But there’s show tunes Monday, Drag Tuesday, Burlesque Wednesday.Strong, cheap drinks, hot bartenders, good music, great entertainment. Love this place.

Quietly fun and marvelously friendly. The drinks and food are great, and the staff is the best. Its atmosphere is incredibly inviting, comfortable, wildly soft setting and perfect for a great time.

I was visiting and someone took me here and it was super fun and there were a few cuties. The Spanish or black chubby bartender makes the drinks extra strong and is a cutie!! I legit couldn’t eat the next day at the cookout I was still drunk haaaa

Places friendly world recommend going there again had a good time if youre ever in the mood for a nice strong drinks thats not expensive this is the place to be.

Cabbed out especially for this. Considering itsout away from downtown. I took a special uber here. It was closed lol. Before business hours on google and yelp. What a bust. Go to Tys. They were open. What a joke, update your dang hours of when you close early. Dont come here, its a bust, they will most likely be closed. Came yesterday as well and no one was there! Go elsewhere. Such a shame. If it was close to the subway, it would be one thing but Wow, to come here and to see its closed before 11PM when business hours say 4AM is a shame. Please spend your money elsewhere where the business hours are complete and accurate. Wow! Subpar....they simply dont care.

When on a Geek Trivia night and it was a lot Fun, the Host Nick and the staff were awesome.

Awesomely cheap drinks and a diverse crowd make this a place to always have a good time. Definitely come for the Trivia and Karaoke nights.

Ultra small and a very clique - ish clientele..... The only saving grace was the hot bartender who made you feel welcome and provided generous drinks.

BOGO beer hour and congenial bar tenders make for a fine drinking venue. They host video game nights for competetive gaming on the Nintendo Switch.

Go-to spot for them queers :) Always a good time.

A very rude Zur bartender just because I asked him last ice to put in my drink he told me that I can have a drink someplace else so basically he told me to leave or have it his way so I left nobody talk to customers this way it was very rude bartender that should not be hired

One of the best bars you’ll ever go to. If you want a bar with a diverse crowd that gives little to no judgement about your aesthetic, then this is the place to be. If you’ve got a kink, there’s probably someone else here that has it too. If you have a hobby, you’ll most likely find a friend. Great drag shows, trivia contests, and “other” contests. I will always come to this bar. They also have some of the cheapest drink prices in NYC and they don’t skimp!!

This is a cute little bar but I was a little annoyed that I was told there was a $20 min on card transactions when theres no sign in the bar saying so. I didnt have the cash? What are you supposed to do?

Stopped by during posted hours late night after another bar was closing..and This one was closed. It Was a Tuesday, but also my Birthday, so bit of a let down

This place was really banging when I went for the Gotham Knights Rugby club bachelor auction here a few weekends ago. Super friendly staff, it was jammed with friendly people, you could get drinks easily nevertheless. Rockbar is back.

Friendly staff -standard bar -could use more rocknroll, less ke$ha and such - maybe invest in Spotify and just put a movie on the TV screens

I had a great time there over the weekend showing a friend of mine around the area. They had a wonderful auction and raffle and although I did not win, it was a very joyous and festive atmosphere

I was very disappointed today, coming here 5 yrs ago I had greater expectations. I actually called the place to confirm if there was a cover charge before 10pm, and the staff member clearly stated no cover charge before 10pm. I came here rushing before 10pm and arrived around 945p and was told theirs no cover charge before 9pm. I don’t know if their had been a miscommunication or lack of correct information, but it was very discouraging to say the least….

Nice place. Went there for the costume party and had a blast.

So glad to see this place open! It has a classic vibe and sitting at the bar is a great opportunity for people watching as you see them descend into the subway stop outside. Good service and food (I don’t eat meat, but had a feast of side dishes that were excellent). Excited to go back and have another cocktail.

Happened to catch Court of Filth (they perform on Sundays, I believe) a few weeks ago and the talent was AWESOME! (seriously, go out and support your local queens & all the drag performers!) Only knocked a star off since buying drinks in NYC is always rough, but they do have specials, so its worth checking out! Great people make this place greater than it looks at first glance!

Went to celebrate the kickoff of bear week in Ptown, the door man was friendly and welcoming so that was a great beginning. It didnt take too long to get a drink even though the bar was pretty busy, the drinks were tasty and stout. The bar itself was clean and had a nice vibe, and the restroom was maintained and never overcrowded. Ill definitely visit again the next time Im in town:)

This bar has the worse service of any bar in the West Village. If you want to sit at a bar and not get a drink. This is the place for you. If you want a drink, go to any other bar in the West Village, Bartenders at the Rock Bar, put your shirts back on and pay attention to your bar and serve drinks in proper order not in the order of people you want to get into their pants.
