The Dawson Restaurant & Bar

We were a group of 4 and visited Dawsons for dinner in December. The place had a very cozy vibe with cute holiday decorations. The staff was very welcoming. The flatbreads tasted very nice and the appetizers were great as well. Few of the signature cocktails are a must try. Overall we had a great dine in experience and would mostly visit again.

The Dawson has a fantastic vibe & energy. It looks great with the holiday decor & they have THE BEST playlist going. Good music is a must! The staff is fun and friendly & the patrons are as well. The chocolate espresso martini was fantastic, I highly recommend it! We also had the wings as a quick snack, very good.

This place has a really great bag. They have several appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, fish, and chips, and salmon. It is a fun atmosphere anytime, but especially on New Year’s Eve. Daron was incredible.

Emma (bartender) is a hard worker and didnt stop while I was drinking my two Guinness 🍺.She smiled the whole way through. What a great asset to have behind the bar. Thanks for the great experience.Cheers 🍻

3.5 stars, but Im in a generous holiday mood.Stopped by here after our original girls night spot was a bust. Like many neighborhood bars, The Dawson offers a surprising amount of beautiful holiday decorations in a cozy, dim atmosphere. Thats right, take it from this NYC local: Skip the touristy landmarks, markets, parks, etc. and head to any neighborhood bar, and youll find more Christmas decorations and holiday cheer than any of those sites. Bonus: No tourists.Anyway, we enjoyed wiling the night away with wine and food. My Shepherds Pie was surprisingly hearty and delicious, perfectly baked and crispy where it needed to be. Our wine pours were generous too. And the music was all festive holiday classics at a volume where you could actually have a conversation. Imagine that?

Loud and they didnt notice us for five minutes. Food was decent and worth it. Drinks were great.

Stumbled across this lovely restaurant/pub in midtown. Great atmosphere and top notch food close to all your midtown attractions.

The food here is amazing. I had the pepperoni flat bread with spicy honey. Chefs kisses, so delicious. I ordered the Blackberry Bramble cocktail and it was also delicious. I would definitely go back here.

Myself & two girlfriends spent our last night in the Dawson, the food was delicious, the service was excellent, toilets were spotless, would definitely recommend the Dawson to anyone visiting NYC. Special shout out to our server Shauna, nothing was too much trouble! Nicest espresso martini Ive ever tasted 😋

Visit e The Dawson looking for some quick food before going back to my hotel. Exactly what I was looking… some chicken wings and salmon with mashed potatoes. Nothing else nothing more. Good taste, and fresh food. Good place to catch something quick and with good environment!

Food was mediocre at best, (bar food stuff), bloody Marys were terrible. Server at bar (from Ireland) was great! Atmosphere was friendly and looked like a place to hang for a drink. Better places to eat in area.

Their roast dinner is a must, makes ya feel like you’re at moms on a Sunday. Music was great. Loved the vibe of the staff, we really had a terrific time. Thank you!

A great place near Times Square. Lots of locals. The food, fish and chips and a burger, were both excellent. Very loud bar, but actually contributed to the overall, local NYC bar and grill atmosphere. We are planning to go back for lunch.

It was my first trip to New York and this place seemed to be the place to be in Midtown that had locals in it. I was only in town three nights and I went here twice. Great food, great service, great people. Can’t wait to come back next time I’m in New York City!

Made an order for pickup. Eaten here before and the salmon was great. Just opened my order and this is what I paid 35$ for. Will not be going back. Ridiculous. Wouldn’t serve this at a table but this is what I get served to takeout

Waited for 40 mins for my soup of the day to come on the table , 50 mins for the other things to come. We were the first table to sit down, wait until everyone gets their food , we were till waiting. And nobody even say sorry about the late. Food was not that good. Bad experience of our New York trip.Not recommend

Theyre actually surprisingly attentive, though theyll definitely judge your drink order if its not obscure enough. Pro tip: Order anything with the word infused in it and watch them nod approvingly.

Woah, we weren’t expecting such a welcoming atmosphere exploring the city… Milo was one of the best bartenders we’ve had in along time. Made our experience wanting to come back the next day. Very personable, funny and attentive. Because of him, we will be back. THANK YOU MILO!! (A plus espresso martinis were on point along with every other drink we ordered)

Such a beautiful bar. The staff were so welcoming from start to finish. I sat at the bar and Eric the bartender made me the best espresso martini, it was delicious! This place has such a nice ambience and I was totally vibing the music. It was pretty busy that evening but everyone was super attentive. I will definitely be coming back cos I saw they do a Sunday Roast dinner!!

The Dawson is beautiful bar & restaurant. A group of 4 of us dined for dinner and drinks. The atmosphere is vibrant/sophisticated but felt perfectly comfortable in jeans and a long sleeve. They also promptly decorated for Christmas which was nice.The service was pretty fast and waitress friendly. The drinks were fantastic (quite possibly a top 3 Expresso Martini), and the food is crave-able. The Dawson Burger and Manson Burger were some of the best burgers weve eaten this year. Juicy and thick patty, great bun, and the flavors were stand-out. The fries came in a deep silver tin, and were nicely fried (hot and firm). The prices were reasonable as well for the food.Honestly, I dont really have any complaints. If I lived in NY this would be a regular spot. Id say this is a must go stop for their burgers.

The place is open late. Despite the kitchen was almost closed already they made delicious shrimps and potatoes for me. My cocktail with lavender was a piece of art!

We made reservations over a month ago/we were not just a random walk in. All of our meals came out and my son’s meal never came. I asked the waitress and she said they had messed it up and were remaking it. After about 15 minutes, his meal came out, but the salmon was raw in the middle. She said they would comp the salmon/remake it. By this point, the rest of us were finished with our meal. He still didn’t have a meal. She said it was on its way out and asked if she could get him something in the meantime. He said no problem, maybe some Brussel sprouts while he waited. We waited. Nothing came out. Eventually my husband hunted the manager down and he stopped by our table. He just said they were 13 tickets in. And said he’d take something off of our bill. Finally the Brussels came, and we inquired on the salmon. The manager said he thought my son had ordered the Brussels in place of the salmon.Overall, he never got the salmon. We were there for over the double the time we should have been. We were supposed to go see the Christmas tree after, and he was still hungry, so we had to hunt another restaurant down and go do it all over. Luckily, we found The Independent, and they saved the day. Unfortunately at that point, my kids were not in the mood for the Christmas tree. Very disappointing in the way the manager handled the entire situation.

I went here last night for the first time, for after work drinks, had some Bourbons and ordered the Short Ribs; when I tell you that I was extremely pleasantly surprised and very happy when the dish arrived, and that first bite…it was amazing! So much so that while I was eating I ordered a second one to go, which I ate when I got home. Such quality and excellent presentation.The ambiance is very nice, the service is excellent and the owner was very appreciative and pleasant.Obviously, I’m going back again and again.Thank you.

Stopped here for Sunday brunch before our flight out and SO HAPPY we did. Our bartender, Jordan, was fantastic. Recommended we add short rib (instead of the bacon we were thinking ) to our Mac n cheese. Got the chicken n blue cheese egg rolls, also great. He put a couple beers on ice for my husband (we were there early so wasn’t super busy yet, obviously wouldn’t expect this during busy time). Jordan made a perfect espresso martini for me and a pineapple jalepeño margarita that was the perfect blend of flavors and the right alcohol kick ;) Would 100% recommend and go back again even though there are hundreds of new places to explore!

Such a great find! We came here after another bar we were planning to go to was closed for a private event. This worked out well for us because the food options were much better than expected. I got an order of sliders and they were delicious. The fries were also so good, they were hand cut, crispy, and hot. Drinks were made very well too! Highly recommend this place, will definitely be back.

Such a cool place. I went with some friends after work and we really loved the drinks, it’s a really nice date spot because of the chill vibe. We didn’t have too much food but I tried some good apps like the sliders and loaded fries.Espresso martini one of my favorites for sure!

The service was very good. Everyone was fast and friendly. The food was amazing! If you are in the area you must try it, it will not disappoint. I tried their veggie burger and it was the best I have ever had. I also had the pear n goat cheese salad and it was amazing! My boyfriend tried the dawson burger and loved it as well. We tried their cheesecake and tiramisu and it was lovely. I highly recommend!

I was sitting at the bar with 2 friends for 20 minutes. Finally A female bartender took my drink order and I told her I wanted to order some food. I never saw her the rest of the night. A male bartender later took my friends food order and walked away never asking if I wanted anything. He came back later and said to us is there anything else I can get you. It was one of the most disgusting restaurant experiences ever. The 3 bartenders drank at the bar and played on their cell phones. There was never more than 6 customers in the restaurant & it was Saturday night 4:45 to 7:00. Unbelievable

Waiting 45 minutes for their soup of the day when you’re the first people in the door isn’t acceptable. Really slow service and the wait staff was very who cares about it. Soup was pretty good but nothing to right home about.

Called ahead of time to see if they were going to be playing a specific game and was put on hold for 5 minutes while they tried to figure it out. They then told me yes they would be playing it. I show up, the game starts and they turn it off. When I asked what was going on they told me they couldn’t play it. When I brought up the fact that I called and confirmed the bar tenders only response was that it wasn’t him. completely unorganized and they lack any inability to keep their word. Too many pubs in this city to settle , you can do better.

Definition of mid. Out of 6 people in my party, 4 of us felt sick that night, and we only had one drink. We tried to pinpoint it, maybe the croquettes? We loved the spinach and artichoke dip though

Great attentive service great crowd. Had a really good time with a few friends and made some news ones at the bar.Had the fish tacos made with fried fresh Cod, Cilantro Slaw, Pico De Gallo, Chefs Sauce. The tacos are a really good size and tasted really good. They are spicy so be careful if you dont like the heat.They have a few TVs so we caught the fame. There is a upper level either dining. The rest of the menu looks good. Will definitely be back to hang.Looks like a good after work happy hour spot.

We came in on my moms birthday (Jan 11th) around 5 pm, the hostess was super friendly and found us a table even without reservations. Fun, happy atmosphere you can tell its a popular place. Our waitress was Shauna (hope I spelled that right) and she was FANTASTIC, made it a wonderful experience especially for my moms birthday. Food was all so good. We got a variety of appetizers such as the humus and the bang bang shrimp both were delicious. I got the crispy chicken sandwich for dinner, and it was quite flavorful and everyone else enjoyed their dinner and drinks too! Great cocktails too! Well be adding this as a must stop for future NYC trips.

Drinks were decent, food was very meh. Spinach on flatbread was too wet and bland. Brussel sprouts were just ok. Sliders tasted off (might not have been cow?? Not sure why the meat didnt taste like typical burger).

Food was excellent and service was attentive on a busy night with what looked like a more local crowd. Sliders and cauliflower starter were great. This type of place should make NYC proud.

The hostess Elizebeth was super helpful and accommodating in getting us a table on a busy night. The food and drinks were excellent as well.

As expected, the drinks and food were outstanding. The space worked really well with the dance floor upstairs and plenty of space below to eat and socialize. We didn’t even need to decorate that much since The Dawson is already so beautiful inside.Finally, I would like to personally thank everyone who helped make our wedding night the best night of my life. FANTASTIC. I had the Duke 75 and my husband had one of the mules. Both were incredible. We ordered the Dublin sliders and fries - delicious. Warren behind the bar was a blast to talk to. Fun atmosphere, great time, and it doesn’t feel touristy. Highly recommend.

Good environment and drinks, but the bartender was not friendly. We heard her complaining about her job and she looked mad when we asked for another round.

The place is great, I going at least once per month for my pear salad with goat cheese, the drinks are excellent, my favorite is the lavender and the bartenders are so nice! Jordan and Erick are the best. That’s why I always recommend this place.

I came in for lunch one day after passing it a few times. The service was nice, quick and they treated everyone fantastic. The food wasnt so great. The burger tasted delicious but much smaller than expected; the fries tasted like fries from other bars or pubs. Ill probably go again to try the other foods on the menu though.

Dinner ok drinks not well I ordered watermelon Martini and I got watermelon vodka not watermelon mix and I got charged over price

We picked this place in a hurry just to get food for a larger group and it was a great selection. The atmosphere is great, the menu and food were what we wanted, and the staff was pleasant.

While visiting NYC for Christmas, we stumbled upon The Dawson. From the moment we walked in, we instantly knew this is where we wanted to eat dinner before going to see the Radio City Rockettes. We were greeted by the beautiful owner, Geraldine & she made us feel so welcome & so very special!!! The staff, (Shauna was our server & she was very sweet), the decorations, food & the cocktails a 10 out of 10!! Highly recommend!!!

The atmosphere is beautiful and very inviting. The waitress was friendly, professional with great suggestions. The food and drinks were exceptional!!

We are currently here on our last night of our trip to New York and have to say this is the best restaurant and bar we’ve been to on our visit. The service is unbelievable and the food/cocktails are fantastic. Best we’ve had on our trip. We wish we found this place on our first night. When we come back this is the first place we will visit. Really enjoyed my lunch at this mid-town sleeper! On arrival I was greeted cheerily, but the bartender had gone missing, so it took a while (and the maitre ds intervention) for me to be served. Shepherds pie was right on point, with a glass of ginger beer. The music was a tad on the loud side, but the contemporary soul, R&B and pop artists in the mix were all good stuff.

I love the Dawson! Food and service is always great, and the vibe is always on point. Its always a go to for us!

What a charming spot my hubby and I stumbled upon!Was greeted promptly by a host but we elected to have a seat at the bar, the vibe was kicking! Fantastic selection of liquor especially tequila and whiskey…but I had a cocktail Lady Grace cause I was feeling bougie and hubby enjoyed a rare neat mccallan because he was in a chest thumping tree chopping mood I guess.Bartenders were really pleasant to chat with…super knowledgeable about spirits and the menu.We had shepherds pie (delicious), wings (loved the sauce), Dawson burger and sweet sassy molassy but one of the best fig flatbreads we’ve ever had!We can’t wait to be back!

My fiance and I dined here on December 27th for my birthday, and loved it so much we had to go back the 28th for our second and last night in NYC. Our waitress May made our night, she was so lovely. The food and drinks were amazing, the bartender even went out of his way to greet us for our second trip back. Always tip your waitresses/waiters, they deserve it. The dining experience was upscale but still budget friendly.

Solid and inviting spot with pub and comfort selections. Casual but fashionable without fuss. Try pot roast special, Mediterranean salad, shepherds pie and hearty desserts.

Stopped in here on Saturday afternoon for some lunch with my friends. I was so pleasantly surprised! The atmosphere is super cute, the AC was nice and cold (which was great on a hot day), and the food was delicious! I had the fried chicken sandwich with fries and it really hit the spot.

Tried to go for brunch. They didn’t have coffee? Felt like a bar that just opened their doors early but did nothing else to actually be prepared for brunch. Can’t speak to the food, we had to go elsewhere.

Great higher end bar and restaurant. The burger was delicious as were the cocktails. Huge ceilings, nice spaces. And great service make this a perfect spot for the area.

I cant say enough nice things about this place. My kids and I were passing by and the place looked so nice that we decided to try having an early dinner there. We had just flown in from the West Coast so we didnt have reservations. The place was filled with people having a great time so I expected the lovely ladies at the sign-in desk to tell me that we would have to look elsewhere for a meal. Instead, they recognized that I was in a tough spot, trying to find a place to eat in Manhattan with three jet-lagged kids. After reviewing the current state of the tables at which people were eating and looking over the upcoming reservations, they set up a small table in the bar area so that we could start with beverages and appetizers. Shortly after that, a group finished their meal and left. The table was cleared and prepped for us right away and we were relocated to that table in the dining area. Like the women who greeted and took care of accommodating us, the wait staff was super friendly and helpful. The food did not disappoint as well. My kids and I all agreed that everything was super tasty...which is quite an accomplishment with my kids. This was my kids first visit to Manhattan and The Dawson was their first official meal there. I couldnt have asked for a better first impression!

Went to dinner there at the last minute with my wife and two girls. We had a fantastic experience. Service was amazing and the food was just as good. If they have a great variety on the menu and everything we ordered was delicious. We tried the hummus around, he tuna, and brussels sprouts for appetizers. Each one of them had very distinct flavors, and Yeah, and they do everything was finished. Then we had the margarita flatbread and the short ribs flatbread, I had. We also had the special roast for Sunday.

We really enjoyed it! Everyone was so friendly and accommodating (our server was Siobhan). The food was delicious and the vibe was incredible.

We came here for a work dinner but they didnt have table and seats set up for us despite reservation. We ended up piecing together a seating arrangement. Otherwise the food, drinks, and service were great. A bit loud but it died down later into the night.

I have been to the Dawson a couple of times and the ambiance, atmosphere and service has been amazing!! The bartenders, servers and manager are awesome and the cuisine and cocktails are delicious! Would recommend for after work spot, group party or dinner spot or just to get some good cocktails with friends or a date!

Met some friends here for drinks on Thursday night. Attentive bar staff and a great selection of beers on tap. Staff person Geraldine from Tipperary was super helpful in getting us some space for our group and was able to store our jackets & bags without any fuss. Highly recommend this friendly bar located in a very central part of Midtown.

Food was really good and pretty fast. Bar atmosphere, but cozy and comfortable. Server was very friendly and helpful.

Great place to escape the office for lunch and for after work drinks with excellent service. Ambience is classy, welcoming and the food is tasty too. Had the sliders and flatbread that our server recommended us and it did not disappoint. Looking forward to being back!

I just want to say that the Dawson is amazing! I was there Saturday, definitely slower than usual..... but, kind of what I was looking for for. Great cocktails,and even better conversation. I visited this spot hoping for a great burger and cocktail combo, but it turned out to be a huge disappointment. I ordered the House Burger with cheese and a Chocolate Espresso Martini, while my friend got something like a Sunday Meal.The cocktail arrived first, and it tasted like canned coffee latte mixed with chocolate milk—not remotely what I expected. For the price, it was shocking. The burger was just as bad: a basic patty with a slice of cheese, and I even found two bone-like bits in the meat. When I complained, there was no apology or adjustment to the bill. My friends dish was equally underwhelming—thin, overcooked meat that was tough to chew, despite asking for medium.Spending $80 (before tip) for this experience was outrageous. Normally, I wouldn’t leave a review, but I hope this saves someone else from wasting their time and money. Never again!

Went in for a few drinks. Sat at the bar. The menu was via QR code which is not ideal, especially for the atmosphere they are providing. Had an espresso martini and a blackberry bramble- both of which were incredible and made quickly in front of us “putting on a show” type. Highly recommend.
