I walk past this diner all the time and finally decided to try it. Cozy diner with cute booths. It was busy and raining when I came in the employees were very accommodating as I opted for their covered outdoor seating and changed my mind preferring indoor seating. The chicken souvlaki was a little messy to eat but delicious. The chicken pesto panini was good but it would’ve liked a tad more chicken. The fries were really good, I would go back just for them and curious about their breakfast items like their dulce de leche French toast and eggs w/ corn-beef hash
45 years experience making this a upscale diner. Good coffee and happy hour specialsPaul and Erick in management do a great jobKudos to Victor the bus boy Olga and LeslieGreat atmosphere
Really great food, quick and friendly service, nice atmosphere! Our best breakfast during our 2 week US vacation!
I thought, okay, a diner. But its so much more: a clean, casual, relaxed, full service restaurant with a wonderful selection of delicious food. The staff could not have been nicer. A lovely experience! Ill be back.
The Viand, located on Columbus Avenue on the UWS of Manhattan, is so lovely!! I visited for the first time recently to have breakfast with a friend and we had a great experience. The atmosphere reminds me of a classic New York City diner, as its cozy + warm inside. The staff are really kind - my friend & I sat for quite a while and never felt rushed or hurried during our visit. The food is SO delish. I highly recommend their Another Avocado Toast (sub for poached egg), their Chocolate Chip Pancakes, and their French Fries!! I love this spot - highly recommend!
Nice family diner. Great place to have a simple, functional basic breakfast . Service was fast, efficient and the lady who served us was very courteous. If you are looking for eggs, toast, omelette etc then Viand is a good option to consider
One of the rare places that doesnt overcharge for asking gluten free pancakes
Food is fine and tasty. There is a 3% convenance fee for credit card use! Yes, its gonna feel like the 80s... Cash is king.... Prices are normal so the 3% feel like the place is running on tight margins. Seats outside are nothing special, as long as its a warm day, and hard to get waiters attention so try to be seated inside.
They have almost everything we would expected in a diner for breakfast. The Texas wrap, Greek omelette with bacons, pancakes were good for the adults. The kids meals: chicken fingers with French fries, hot dog, and French toasts with soft drinks were good for the kids. They did not have free refills for the kids soft drinks, but they had refill for coffee. The coffee was okay, but I prefer to go to a coffee shop for my morning coffee. Overall, it’s a decent breakfast experience.
Spending the weekend in NYC and looked for a place to have breakfast near Central Park and to our good fortune found Viand!! Solid reviews and really deserves more than a 4.3 rating..come on folks, hype up your favorite spots… because this place a strong and steady flow of local New Yorkers for breakfast (especially families with young kids). My breakfast sandwich, The Modern, was delicious! I was able to change the ciabatta bread to the brioche bun which was soft and sweet and the tomato bacon jam was out of this world, yummy. I’ll definitely add bacon to this sandwich next time. My partner got the steak and eggs, good sized steak, well seasoned, cooked to the desired temperature and the eggs they use here are huge and hearty! We don’t usually like shredded hash browns ( prefer breakfast potatoes) but their hash browns are pretty good with onions and peppers and again, well seasoned.Atmosphere is very nice, small but not cramped, clean, and the staff are wonderful; friendly and attentive without being overbearing and they seem to work well as a team to serve all customers. Overall this was a really great experience, slight dings for the fact that the coffee was pretty weak (and o don’t like strong coffee so that’s saying something), and the orange juice was a bit tart/bitter. But that aside we enjoyed it so much we ordered a salad and Cuban sandwich to-go for lunch later!Awesome food, great service… stop by!!
The homemade blueberry jam is fantastic. Wait staff attentive and very nice. Toasted sesame bagels were a bit hard and chewy. Hash was a little salty but decent. The Texas (?) wrap which had a lot of the same ingredients as the eggs and hash was better. Scrambled eggs didnt taste as good as the one at another area diner (with a very slightly lower Google Maps rating) we went to yesterday. The hash was ok, but seemed to turn bitter with addition of the table salt. The lunch and dinner options sound good and maybe the reason for the better rating.
We were quite impressed with the food and the service at the Viand diner. Last night we had the turkey meatloaf with green beans and a sweet potato. Everything was done to perfection and very tasty. Tonight we stopped in for dessert and tried their Russian coffee cake which was to die for! Plenty of nuts, butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon. The waiters we had were very attentive providing great service. I also had some mint tea and they served a high quality organic tea, Mighty Leaf. You don’t normally see that in restaurants. All in all, a very impressive performance at a reasonable price.
Many of the brunch items come with orange juice and coffee, which is really generous and welcome. The food reminds me of better quality diner fare with a homeyness. The space is a bit tight and a wee bit claustrophobia inducing. If you can get a table, opt for that no matter how nice the booths appear.
A nice cozy diner. Great place for brunch on weekends specially if you are looking for an early one. They open around 7am which is rare in the area. The shahsuka is really good. The French Toast is really large so be ready :) very friendly staff.
So sad. I have been coming to this restaurant for years. And mostly they have been accommodating. Food is good. Not remarkable. But reliable. But recently I had an interaction where I ordered something that was incorrect. And the manager would not adjust, or even admit, and then I was abruptly hung up on by one of the wait staff when I dialed to address the issue. Super sad about this approach.
Nice brunch on the EWS
The place is ok, large portions, but nothing special. A little expensive I think. I ordered eggs benedict and the bread was burnt.
Great brunch spot. Was seated timely on a Saturday morning.Excellent kids menu. Silver dollar pancakes were super cuteThere is an additional charge for maple syrup btwThe service was excellentEggs Benedict with salmon was goodChicken and waffles were good tooGood portionsHas orange juice and apple juiceWould recommend! Walking distance to the AMNH which is cool
Lesley the waitress might our experience so much better. The food was so good. And the Atmosphere was great.
Hands-down, some of the best service I’ve had in the city. Our kids were treated like gold. The gluten-free Cuban sandwich was astoundingly good.
Ugh... Super disappointed. I ordered the turkey triple decker and it was the worst thing ever. There was maybe one piece of bacon and the driest turkey I’ve ever had. They didn’t think to add a dressing, had to ask for mayo and ketchup and it was not enough. I love waffle fries but these were so greasy. The staff and the atmosphere were great and maybe I’ll give this place another chance... but not anytime soon. As you can see in the picture, I didn’t even bother to finish the sandwich, the greasy fries and the bad sandwich made my stomach hurt. Worst $20 ever spent.
I highly recommend this establishment! From the home orange juice to the delicious eggs Benedict. The hollandaise sauce had just the little extra love that made it different from many others that I have had.Service was kind, quick, and able to give solid recommendations. The restaurant and restrooms were very clean!
The turkey dinner here is absolutely amazing. The stuffing is so flavourful and delicious, the dark meat turkey is moist and tender, and the gravy is great. The price is great considering the huge portion size also. Theres usually not a wait for a table or a long wait for food, so that is nice also. Ive found occasionally the food doesnt come out super hot, or the odd dry piece of turkey, but in general it is very good. Ive been here many times. Their other food is great also!
Been to all 3 viands. This one on columbus ave is not the best Viand.Viand UES and Viand Broadway are 5 stars. Good tasty diner food. But Viand Columbus is 4 star because service is good.Somehow eggs, sausage, breakfast items have no taste no flavor. Its the same items but not sure why this Viand isnt good. Pancakes are ok though.
I go here approximately once a week. Food is consistently good. Very friendly servers who take pride in their work.
Popular brunch place in UWS with really good egg dishes and coffee. Loved the Mediterranean eggs (pictured here). Gets busy on the weekends, though.
The food is very fresh and delicious. Portions are large, and the service was excellent.
Excellent food, service and atmosphere! Highly recommend if you’re looking for a diner feel with high quality food
DO NOT buy a gift card through their website. THEY WILL NOT HONOR IT. My wife loves this place so I bought her a $50 gift card from the link on their own website to use while she was visiting NYC last week. She got there and they told her they couldn’t take it in the restaurant and it would work if she ordered online. She tried ordering online and they wouldn’t accept it online, either. Please take the link off the website if you won’t honor them. It’s a shame to think a place like this would scam their patrons.
Great experience. The atmosphere was welcoming and the staff was friendly and helpful if we needed something. The food was delicious, and the portions were great. I would definitely come back here again.
* Dulce de leche french toast was refreshingly not too sweet* the feta was overpowering in the Greek omelette
A quick place to grab something to eat. Service was overwhelmed, but they did seem to care. The food was ok, nothing to write home about. The servers on at the time were not familiar with either the food or drink menus. I chalk it up to finding quality staff. The drinks were good, however. I had a Titos vodka tonic, and my wife had a bloody Mary. The place was visibly dirty, particularly the windows inside and out. There was no atmosphere. I think with the right management and staff, this place could be great. It has potential. A quick bite and run. I had a pastrami sandwich. Even though it was tasty, there was nothing special about it and could have contained less grease. The last and most important thing I want to say about this place is, holy cow, it was expensive for lunch. Probably because of the location.
I highly recommend this place. We went for brunch on Sunday. We were 3, and with no reservation, we waited 30 minutes. It really goes faster if you are. The portions are very large. Pancakes were tasty and one of the best breakfast sandwiches. Also, they have gluten-free pancakes and gluten-free buns or toasts.
Id happily come back. Kid-friendly, adult drink-friendly, and food variety to please the group. Im posting the breakfast and lunch menus since I only saw the brunch special menu in prior reviews. For the keto crowd, Id highly recommend the cobb salad. Hearty portions of chicken, bacon, blue cheese, egg, and avocado. Swapped out the corn for cucumber and used lemon wedges instead of the dressing.
TRY THE SMASHED BURGER!I have been in this restaurant with several friends and I had the opportunity to try not just the smashed burger but also the other burgers as well as the burrito. Knowing all that I have to say that the smashed burger was the best option by far… being the other ones just okay options to go for.
Really good food in a quaint dinner with friendly service. Definitely recommend the dulce de leche French toast. My friend got the tiramisu pancakes and loved them.
Oh man, sit back and let me tell you... We were trying to eat across the street, but they were serving some sort of off-script dinner menu that was not what we wanted. The Viand was not even on our radar as a place to eat, but they were close... and serving pancakes and eggs at night, plus some sort of delicious country burger. They even had Lagunitas IPA on tap.The whole family was pleased. I dont know what they ordered, because I ate everything in the last paragraph and Im still full. Recommend.
This place is not as nice as the pictures. It is definitely more of a diner than a restaurant. Space is cramped. On the upside, the food and drinks are pretty good. The staff is nice and accommodating.
Mid, bland food and overpriced. Service and atmosphere were fine.Tried multiple items. Huevos rancheros had no flavor. The refried beans and vegetable items tasted and felt like they came out of a pre prepped bag/can.Chorizo was overcooked and dryMaybe stick to the basics here like eggs and pancakes.
Awesome place! Great happy hour deal and good food
Upscale but classic NYC diner. We had breakfast- great selection, good eggs and hash browns, sizable portions. Bottomless coffee, really good service.
We stumbled into this restaurant and I am glad we did too. The food was HUGE and tasty. It all arrived quickly. The menu was huge with a variety of items to choose fromI loved my gyros!
Walked by this place and decided to try it out. I ordered off the daily specials dinner menu and got a filet with bearnaise sauce, asparagus, and scalloped potatoes. This was legitimately one of the best meals Ive ever had. It was so delicious.
We stopped in here on a whim one morning for breakfast. I have to say that the the Dulce de leche French toast is incredible and one of the best things I tried on our trip. It was so fluffy and light. And the buttermilk pancakes were also phenomenal. Again, incredibly fluffy, light and tasteful. I got an Irish Coffee which was good, but I was a little disappointed in the amount of Irish whiskey. I’m not a big drinker but it was weak in terms of alcohol content. Service was also very good. We sat outside which was fine with the outside heaters keeping us warm. But the area is so incredibly cramped. I realize that more tables = more revenue but for the comfort of your patrons, maybe take a table away and spare some room. Overall a very good experience to be sure.
Ate outside on a nice day. The menu had a pretty good selection and the food was great. Definitely coming back.
Ive written a review about a year ago which took a rather dim view of one of their dishes: the chicken parmesan. This particular meal was a bust. However, since that occasion Wife and I visited for breakfast and lunch. Both meals were exceptional. Hot, fresh, well made and I give kudos to the limited staff who never forgot to check on us and made sure the coffee cups were full. Face it, sometimes you hit, sometimes you miss. The chicken parm wasnt good so avoid that dish. Everything else has been excellent.
Came here for a weekend brunch and it did NOT disappoint. Their benedicts are amazing. The eggs in purgatory was SO delicious I still think about it from time to time!! Service was great; we sat outside and it was honestly really lovely. If youre looking for a good breakfast spot thats casual yet classy, this is the one!!
The Modern is one of the best breakfast sandwiches I’ve had in years! They don’t skimp on the egg and jam, and the ciabatta bread feels freshly made. Very reasonably priced too! $20 per person for a sandwich and coffee
The classic burger is perfect, the attention too
Knocked off 1 star because it feels a bit pricey, and one of the staffs had pretty bad customer service. That being said, all the food was really yummy. Big portions so just ordering one plate and dessert was more than enough. The cappuccino was really delicious. You get the sense that they make almost everything from scratch there.Definitely recommend if youre in the mood for a nice casual diner (thats a bit pricey).
The breakfast burrito was great but messy.
Great portions and friendly service in a diner setting.
Staff and food were good. Clean too
Are outside. My Reuben was good but when did everybody stop serving them open face? Great potato salad. My dates burger was good, the dining area inside looked nice, tables and booths. And no loud music!
Good fresh food and nice portions. Ordered as well as dined in. They do their delivery which is great. Food comes hot and wrapped up well. A lot of options. Ive enjoyed everything Ive ordered.
Fantastic service and tasty food. We went around 9 AM on Sunday and ordered the challah french toast, the egg and piggy sandwich, and the Greek omelette. All the food arrived to the table at the perfect temperature and well prepared. But out of all of them, I would recommend the toast.
Excellent!!! The food is amazing and the service was outstanding!
The prices were a bit higher than Im used to for diner style food but the portions more than make up for it. I had the Buffalo chicken sandwich and the chicken itself was almost as wide at the plate. Unfortunately the turkey in the famous turkey sandwich was a bit dry. Its a very relaxed environment thats good for children and small groups. I would definitely recommend to someone looking for traditional diner fare.
Great dinner with a decent menu. The pastrami sandwich was very good. The staff is very attentive and nice. Its a place where I definitely want to return and try more food from the menu.
Came here after visiting the museum with family from out of town. The portions were big and food was good. I wasnt to thrilled about the mozzarella sticks or the plantain chips that came with my meal. I ordered thencuban sandwich which was great
Over priced for mediocre food. So Avocado toast with fried eggs probably needs to be 17.50 so that this cafe can afford their extraordinary rent in this part of town. But at least make it good. The toast was from a bag, the mashed avocado was unseasoned and turning brown, the sliced onion was too thick and not pickled or anything, the two whole cherry tomatoes served on the side were impossible to gracefully eat. The waffle tasted like that at my college cafeteria. Fine and edible, but not worth 13. The hashbrowns were underdone and greasy, though tasty. The eggs were totally unseasoned.
Food was good, the chicken parm was ok chicken was a bit hard with no much flavor the pasta that came with it was actually the best part of the dish, the flat bread margarita was actually pretty good with nice flavor and good size too.Mozzarella sticks were actually too hard thought they had good flavor.Waffle fries were really good though they were a bit greasy.Service was excellent and food was served fast, no complains here.My suggestion is to buy appetizers instead of main dishes, if you get a main dish be ready to split it they come with enough food for 2 people to eat.
We live in the neighborhood and the Viand has become a go to place for our Seamless orders. The food is great, the portions large, and all extra instructions followed. I have found the same characteristics when I go there in person.
Honestly one of the best diners i have been too. The have a great menu, which had a lot too choose from. I had shared the Margherita Flatbread, the focaccia chicken pesto sandwich and pancakes. Each item was amazing, the Magherita flat bread was very fresh, the foaccica flatbread was great the pesto tasted great, and it was a a perfect focaccia bread, and the pancakes were the perfect diner pancakes i could eat thousands of them, and the wait staff were extremely friendly. Would totally come back!
Liked it a lot! Honestly, was a default decision because we were running late for a concert. Turned out to be a great decision. We told hostess we were kind of in a hurry. No problem. Seated, immediately attended. Not attitude from anyone. Its a very comfy place. Liked the layout and the decor - contemporary but very comfy the way a diner should be.Food was terrific (excellent burger), nice wine selection if youre into that, portions generous, service friendly and efficient. We liked it so much, we came back after the concert for desert.
Tried this on a whim and really enjoyed the food. The special chicken sandwich was fantastic. Kids had cheesesteak (wonderful) and pancakes/hash browns (delicious). Mashed potatoes were a tad bland but not terrible. Definitely would come back!
Food was good. Portions are good. Staff is nice.
I came as a driver to pick up an order from Grubhub. The server at the front tells me that theyre packing the order. So, I gave them a few minutes. Then, I asked again and told me that the order wasnt ready. So, I went and did another delivery and when I came back the order was still not ready. Look, I understand that restaurants get busy during the dinner rush. But, dont lie to the drivers telling them that Theyre packing the order. When theyre just putting it in the system.Viand, do better; be better.
Great Greek oriented menu! We’ll be back!
Loved how our group was accommodated. The food portions are large and the food is delicious.
Stopped by with group of friends and had a really great time. Gina and Olga did a great job taking care of us. Definitely will be back when this duo is working together again.
Great UWS option for diner staples; and big portions.
Amazing foods !!! Quick service 🔥
The food is delicious. We ordered the Cuban, the Reuben, Philly Cheesesteak, gyro, and BLT. For dessert, we had the PB pie and the lemon Raspberry dessert. Sooo good! Highly recommend!
A nice cozy diner with friendly service, huge portions, and great food! Our food was delicious! In our party we had mozarella sticks, a vegetable panini, pancakes, and french toast and everybodys food was delicious! Our server was very helpful and gave us some great tips on our visit to NYC! Id definitely come back here!
I eat here at least once a week. They have sidewalk tables in warm months. Its probably the best diner on UWS. Their cuban sandwich is properly done. The gnocchi dish is so good and they also have AMAZING meatloaf.Ill probably eat here tonight.
We went for a late night bite, at 9pm and we wanted a simple pizza that would take 15-20 mins with the kitchen closing at 9:30 so we figured we got there right in time. The waitress (very rude) simply said “No”. When we asked for more time she said “I cant give you more time”. She purposely stalled us from ordering the pizza to rush us, she was literally there for 10mins just staring at us not giving us space to breathe.
Great diner food. The place was busy and you could tell the people working there really cared about what they do. The design of the restaurant was a bit strange though. It looked nice, but didnt make me think it was a diner. It looked more like it would be like Panera or singing along those lines.
I felt like some good diner food. So I placed an order. It was terrible. They forgot the danish. The French toast was just toast. There was nothing French about it. It was challah toast. The bacon was burnt. That being said, it took 2 hours to get here. Disapointing.Maybe they were having a bad day, all I know is that the food was god awful and such a waste of money.
Im sorry but where does a diner come off charging $26 for Chicken parm or almost $10 for a cup of soup. My kids ordered two Avocado Toasts on Sunday, $35!!! plus tip and taxes over $40!! Bread and Avocado!!! Its crazy!! Whats even crazier, their prices we almost the same pre-covid so its not like they just raised them to cover losss. You can eat at a FINE DINNING restaurant for a lot less then this place. Never again.
Great corner spot! Attentive wait staff, very relaxing. Loved it!
Short Rib Gnocchi. Skip everything and go straight for the SRG. Absolutely a #WoWFactor times 100. Best Short Rib dish Ive had...ever. My girlfriends daughter recommended the place, as she lives around the block, and I was gonna go for the shrimp & scallops but when I asked the waitress which I should choose...she emphatically said, Definitely the short ribs!.Everything else was on point... especially the service. Will be back.
I had an unpleasant meal this afternoon.Quantity doesn’t mean quality in this place.1rst:The hash browns where a bunch of rough chopped potatoes nearly toasted.2nd: $30 tuna dish with undercooked brocoli and overcooked tuna. It was on the “chef’s specials”.The prices could be reflected on the quality.
Great food and service. Big burrito is a must try.
Great food lovely atmosphere 👌
Solid local diner! The Challah French Toast was delicious, and their home fries are a must.
First time here and really liked it. It was on a Sunday and they were busy. But you can tell they work hard to make sure people are being taken care of. Food was really good and great portions. Definitely we would go back.
This place has always been great but they charged me for 2 coffees not one. This is 2nd time they did this. Ask for a paper bill and check. We r done w them. While I understand that the restaurants have suffered, padding the bill is unacceptable. This had to be done with management approval.
This place is amazing. The food was amazing, the portions were great. The sides were great. I mean a little over priced but look at the area. Definitely worth it. You could take your shorty here.
Had the stuffed peppers and the quinoa salad with beets and avocado
Best brunch place Ive had in NYC! I recommend you buy off the Brunch Specials menu and you get a free drink. The Southern Eggs Benedict (exquisite and luxurious gritz) and Dulce de Leche French Toast (they dont skimp - best for a sweet tooth) are my favorites dishes! The atmosphere is lively on any Saturday or Sunday.
One of the rudest front desk women we’ve ever met. Worse on the phone if you order food and there’s an issue. She is the reason we no longer come here. Told the manager about her 3 times but she’s still there. Clearly this place doesn’t care about its customers. We used to order 3+ times a week and come in on weekends. Worst service.
The salmon burger was excellent. The portion size of the chicken parmesan was huge. I have to confess, coming off the street in soaking rain to get shelter resulted in a great fine.
Visited early on a Sunday after the NYC Half Marathon, starving to say the least. Very welcoming staff, and the place is clean and tidy.Ordered the Huevos Rancheros and was quite disappointed. The quality of the ingredients seemed poor, as was the execution - no real flavor to any of the food. Service is ok and toilets are clean. It is a relatively new place, and its pricey for the output, but they definitely need a menu/chef overhaul if they are going to compete in the neighborhood.
Tried it as a last minute choice and it did not disappoint. The food was great and fast. We got a table indoors in 15 minutes. The service was a+ We definitely recommend this place.
Great diner with many vegetarian options! Loved the vegetarian quesadillas and panini!
Having been a long time patron of the 72nd St branch glad to see they opened another branch on the west side.Pretty much the same setup as the other branch. I usually go for the Philly cheesesteak but decided to try the turkey club this time. It was mostly fine but the turkey seemed a little dry, which surprised me as theyre usually better than this. Chalk it up to an off day.We also had the chicken pesto sandwich, which I thought had too little pesto. Double the amount and it would have been perfect.Still better food than the diners in my current neighbourhood so not going to put me off.Like the outdoor seating too.
Mediocre overpriced food but if you love a booth.... :)
Great food selection and hearty portions. Absolutely recommend
I wanted to get a seat at the bar and I was the only customer inside. There is an ample amount of outdoor seating. I ordered a cheeseburger with mozzarella. The burger was good, and I had a nice time eating the fries. Their on-tap beer selection is rudimentary. Their menu is definitely more expansive, so if I was to return it wouldnt be for a burger.
It was pretty good for a standard breakfast
Lovely pastrami sandwich and friendly staff
The location is perfect, the menu is delicious, the staff is charming... never had a bad experience here, as the food and service is always good. Try the flatbread margherita, the fried calamari, the quesadilla, the Mykonos salad, or the delish hot dog and fries!
Had four meals here over a few days and loved this place. Diverse menu, good food, big portions, helpful and friendly staff, a great place to eat!
As people visiting from LA, we were looking forward to a highly rated nice New York breakfast joint, as was suggested by the reviews and high priced meals. Saying we were disappointed is an understatement. The first thing I ordered was a “large fresh squeezed OJ” for 9$. They gave me one small glass of orange juice, I can’t even imagine what the small is. We got Pancakes, which weren’t bad, but not even close to being worth the price. We also got a pesto chicken sandwich that was completely drenched and pretty much inedible. The overpriced hashbrowns were awful, and The bacon wasn’t anything special, and again, extremely overpriced. Overall we spent 85$ on a glass of orange juice and a couple bites of bacon. Horrible experience.
Loved the zucchini chips! Big portions & big salads!
We had post-graduation brunch for eight--the service was excellent, and the blueberry pancakes were fantastic! Atmosphere was cheery and just right for an upscale family diner. Will happily go again.
Food was good apart from the Hash browns which tasted a bit funny, but overall a good experience. Massive portions
Jumbo pancakes..how can you go wrong? Food was on point. They have high chairs for anyone who wants to bring their kids. Quick and efficient service all around
Pretty good food, but not extraordinary. The orange juice, however, is fresh and delicious.
Delicious breakfast and good service.
The peach salad was amazing! Cosmopolitan was great. Soup was very good.
Very nice family place with decent food, drinks and everyday specials, they have happy hour as well Monday to Friday till 7 pm.
Diner food shouldnt be expensive, but then this is New York City. This place is actually very reasonably priced for the portion size and quality. I came here twice and the food is consistent. The atmosphere is also much nicer than most diners. It is very cozy and friendly- a nice place to come with friends. It is my go-to in the UWS for a diner food fix. Tip: their homemade jams are excellent and they come with toast with any egg dish.
Nice restaurant if you are new to the city and visiting then this is the place for you no wait time come on in get your spoon and folk show time lets eat great food here folks not to bad on the pockets located up town great area to take pic enjoy the weather you have to check them out so if you are in the area come on in so until then peace evey one
The service was very slow and it took forever to get a server to take our order but once the food got to our table I was pretty happy. Got the green eggs and ham, was in love.
Had breakfast twice here whilst visiting New York. Food was great both times, as was the service. Also the breakfast specials are good value.
It was a fine diner with a good selection. Ultimately didnt feel like I had a ton of food and nothing jumped out as being extremely good.
Good food and service. Reasonable prices.
Great neighborhood diner in a great Upper West Side neighborhood. These people know how to run a good restaurant, and this new addition to the family shows that. I highly recommend it.
Viand offers what diners do best - consistency, options, value - with more creativity and an elevated design. A welcome addition to the neighborhood (particularly given the lack of good breakfast), Viand will leave you full and satisfied.
Great soups
Usually pretty good food but not tonight —dry, tasteless (expensive!!!) veggie burger and inedible fries. Choose wisely or not at all
Local dinner with good food & busy atmosphere. Worth a trip
The food is great, try the grilled cheese add the bacon and tomato add some onion rings. Calamari is 👍🏼👍🏼and the Mac and cheese was great.
Bright well-run cafe at the end of my block. Its a weekly stop for us. Never had a bad meal. Bravo to the staff here.
TERRIBLE!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!! For that same price you could eat WAY better at other places in the neighborhood.1. The waitress had an ATTITUDE, was dismissive, SPILLED COFFEE on my husband and got my order WRONG.2. We ordered an omelette which was SOOOO UNDERSEASONED it is unbelievable they charge $19 for that, no taste AT ALL. The Hashbrowns where BURNT and SOAKED IN OIL.3. We also ordered the Shakshuka that came on a PLATE (instead of a skillet), the eggs were WAAAAAAY undercooked. AND THE SAUCE GOT US BOTH SICK.This whole place was like eating Taco Bell. At least be realistic with the prices because the math aint mathing. We will NOT be coming back. It was such a waste of money.
Good hearty breakfast with lots of options available and suitable if gluten free in party
We are from Cali and was Our first time eating breakfast in the city and it was SO good. The staff was fast, friendly, and kept my coffee cup full! kids loved it, too. LARGE portions!! I ordered the avocado toast and could’ve shared! SO GOOD! don’t pass them up!!!!
Absolutely amazing. Ive been ten times and everytime is fast service, great food, and breakfast all day!
Great assortment if breakfast options, large size portions and nice and fresh. Great service
Unbelievably great quality food, generous portion sizes and reasonably priced! Shame me and my partner found this on our last day in New York, little hidden diamond!
The turkey dinner is very good, but I think it feeds 2-3 people and not one.
Food was good, cooked as requested. Very expensive for a diner, but its the UWS of Manhattan. Will return.
Traditional diner , very popular, good food options, free coffee refill.
Excellent food, great shepards pie, great Cuban sandwich
Friendly environment close to the park; food amazing (my 1st eggs benedict)
Delicious everything. Willgo back 😋
Their carved turkey is really a standout item on the menu. You can get it on a salad, sanwuich even soup!
The turkey is really good, you should try it. Its like a well made thanksgiving meal. Nice employees, too.
Just your average American brunch spot.
A solid diner type restaurant with an extensive menu, good food good service and good value. They have very good burgers and fries.
Always comfortable. Always delicious. Always kind and caring workers! My favorite diner in NYC!
Really good and generous portion. Its a good adress
Great food and managed to get a table super fast at 2pm on a Saturday✌🏼
This place is excellent! The wait staff does a great job, especially Olga
Solid upper west side staple. Good for a classic breakfast. Expensive for what you get.
The quinoa burger was out of this world delicious
We were just walking by and decided to stop for lunch. Pleasant surprise. Cheeseburger and sweet potato fries were really good.
Large portions make it good for the price and food is taste pretty good too.
Very good diner food. Their Gnocchi was outstanding. Tasted super fancy.
Excellent breakfast menu. Everybodys meal was delicious.
Awesome Impossible Burgers and lovely service!!! Also their sweet potato fries and salad are amazing.
Brunch was alright, service wasn’t the best either, you can probably spend the same money somewhere else more worthy.
Extensive permanent menu and creative daily specials. Value for your money. Clean. Well staffed.
That is the second time I asked for delivery. OMG! The steak is so good and juicy. It looks very much like the barbecue in Brazil. Accompany vegetables and the fries, which is very crunchy.
Excellent diner. Good food, good prices, good service. Dont miss!
My first time there and I loved it the food was delicious the service was GREAT!!!
Awesome service, chef salad was packed with fresh ingredients.
Pancakes and Texas Wrap are excellent. Good atmosphere. Well worth it.
My burger was dry. The food was meh.
Great Quality Food!! This place serves a little bit of everything 👌
Perfect place for a family dinner! Friendly staff and a nice selection for kids.
I usually go to Viand Cafe down a few blocks from this place, must be broadway and W 74th? Or around there. Anyway this place has the same diner set up, little booths and a small bar and such, in nostalgic black and white interior. Clean place, very busy but with efficient service. The menu was a little more upscale than Viand Cafe - a brunch section had some healthier options, like the modern, a breakfast sandwich with eggs and kale and tomato-bacon jam. I loved this, and that jam was delicious.I love Viand Cafe. Viand must be some sister place up here on W 86th, and it’s equally good. I always mark my favorite diners and inexpensive restaurants for repeat visits.
Upscale diner food with a comfortable atmosphere and friendly service. The Viand has been a mainstay for me up until recently, as they continue to raise their prices by nearly 15%. I unfortunately can no longer justify going here after several years, as the value no longer feels proportionate.
Lovely decor, great food breakfast and lunch will defo be back to try dinner!
Great service, generous portions. Good variety on the menu.
Food was very good staff was excellent and dinner is cozy.
I tried their Reuben and the lemon potatoes, delicious!
Our meal was delicious and quick service, try it for sure.
Good friendly little diner! Good coffee. Forgot my sons coke, but a small error in the grand scheme of things. The gluten free pancakes are excellent but filling. The fruit upgrade on the kids meal is tasty and fresh.
Attentive staff, good food. Thoroughly enjoyed the outside dining!
Great food, great ambiance its exactly what the neighborhood needed!
Came here for Brunch with my daughter after an early school event. The food was great and it was not as expensive as you would think for the area. The service was fast, and the employees were very hospitable.
One of me and my boyfriend’s favorite places to order from but finally decided to dine in and it was an absolute treat. Food and drinks were delicious.
I’m such a beauty kind of queen but this little favorite place is quite the music is nothing but show tunes
Very affordable, yet comfortable. The management and staff were most accommodating.
Viand is a classic diner serving up great food, great diner ambiance and the service sets the bar high. I ordered food to go and upon picking up my order, the bartender went over my order it was then I realized I had ordered incorrectly. The bartender (I later found out is Olga) made sure they corrected my mistake, yes you heard that correctly. She took care of everything and assured I’d get the correct order. I have been back many times and Olga and staff have always been superior. Never disappoints!!
Decent Breakfast. Tight seating. Good Service.
Nice place, 6 beer options. I was well served but I didnt eat.
Very typical & original diner, kind and nice people.
Very good food, even better service. Would recommend!!
This place serves the most delectable breakfast omelets. Traditional menu with an above average touch. The heart and soul in each meal is obvious. Great people running this place.
We were a family of 4 and we had steak and fries, spaghetti meatballs, and chicken teriyaki… and all three dishes were great 😊The service was good, and we were seated inside which was alright, but outside had probably been better.
Really good food prepared just the way we asked. I was traveling to Italy from JFK and asked for a turkey sandwich to go and they wrapped it beautifully. When I unwrapped it later that evening someone exclaimed that smells great!
Amazing food, rich portions and great service!
Food is generally good but they make takeout orders difficult. No easy access to where orders are picked up. Simple requests like putting ketchup, salt, and pepper on a fried egg sandwich are ignored. Instead they give you dozens of packets. No wonder they charge nearly $12 for a fried egg sandwich.
Big menu, decent food, nothing particularly great.
Great avocado toast with poached eggs….. yum!
Nice restaurant large portions and good service
I dont know. Very nice dinerWe enjoyed the food, the service and the atmosphere.and reasonably priced!
Nice place with acrylic partitions to keep guests safe
Historic brand dining fir an empty stomach breakfast pancakes are grandma style made with a special touch peanut to chicken waffles
Very delicious food and good service. My western omelette had ham instead of bacon. That was disappointing…
We come to Viand as a party of 10+ people every Friday night and Olga goes ABOVE and BEYOND to give us the best experience possible. She and Jimmy are so good to us and we are eternally grateful to them. And we’re pretty annoying and difficult. Give Olga and Jimmy a raise.
OMG- just stumbled on to Viand and the food is excellent. Perfect portions and delicious. The bartenders are also amazing. They made the perfect old fashioned!
Great New York diner. Food was delicious (got the cheeseburger, old fashioned, Philly cheese steak, patty melt, and chocolate egg cream) and service was prompt and courteous. Place gets busy so keep that in mind.
Best diner on UWS. Sammy and his staff are amazing!!
They have it down to a science. Its a great dinner
