Stepping into this restaurant really throws you into the American - Italian classics. A generous menu with all the classics. There are vegetarian options and while there isnt a kids menu: a fair selection of pizza, pasta shapes and sauces is guaranteed to keep them engaged. Finish off with classic Italian sweets and a decent espresso, then head out for a walk along the Hudson River. The service was very accommodating and friendly, moderate to high prices.
Great find during our trip to New York and area late last year! Place felt authentic and food was excellent. This is near the big cathedral, a great place for lunch & dinner - we both ordered pizza - crust was thin and light, sauce had a nice tang and robust tomato flavor. Service was good, we knew it would take a while for pizza and had no issue - however it was not long to wait. Would go back next time in New York.
The food may be good, but the service is the worst Ive experienced so far. It took a long, dreadful wait to get the menu and an even longer time to get the food. The staff could definitely be trained to be less rude and serve with more courtesy.
Such a delightful spot!! Really enjoyed the food, and everyone working there was just so fun and sweet. Especially shout-out to the older man working there (the owner?). Hes fantastic! (But then, so was everyone else, and the food)
Big and not quite dead roaches in ladies room... which were still there 90 mins after we told waiter (who giggled!) We were still there 90 mins later due to excruciatingly slow and inattentive service. Vodka sauce tasted great, but waiter brought wrong dishes out TWICE! Underneath the bar is dripping pipe with puddle (zoom in photo).
As old school and authentic NYC Red table cloth as it comes but without tourist or social media buzz. Food is as tasty and wholesome American-Italian food as I have had anywhere similar served in appropriate not overly fussy way. Will visit again soon.
We had a wonderful group outing here. The food was excellent. We had a large party and had a lot of different appetizers, dinners, and a dessert. I had the Chicken Vinny which was awesome. There were a few orders of chicken and eggplant parmigiana, penne ala vodka, chicken piccata, and salads. We also shared a few pies. The beer and wine selection is also nice. The place was surprisingly quite for most of our dinner until a group of over 30 from Columbia came in. Definitely a place to check out!
I havent eaten here in over 10yrs & its still the same great quality. I dont know where to start the garlic bread, the chicken parm or the sauce. What I do know is you should savor your meal here. Take your time with it enjoy a glass of wine or a beer with your meal. You will not be disappointed
Standard slice. Better than dollar pizza, but didn’t like the sauce that much
We smelled this place walking by and remarked on how good the pizza smelled. Then we ate at Kikoo Sushi, which while good, had a 30-40 delay between orders and just decided wed pick up a pizza after our first order. We did not regret it. The pizza was delicious and the portions were very large. It smelled great all the way home and reheated very well in the oven the next day too. I only wish I got more than one pie.
The service, portions, and prices are good, but the pizza is bad. I got a small meatball pizza. The sauce was good, although it did not save or redeem the pizza. 7/10. The cheese was okay 5/10. But the crust ruined it. Completely charred black with no flavor or texture. A good pizza slice isnt supposed to be firm, but their pizza slice head about as much firmness as a piece of toilet paper. They accidentally gave me a serving spoon with a pizza, and honestly judging by the crust it probably wasnt a mistake. 2/10.Overall, I give it a 4/10. They could probably pass this off somewhere other than New York City, but not here.
We placed an order it didn’t arrive to correct apartment .When I called to speak to a manager named Anthony who claimed to be in charge . He said I am not giving you your money or food back!! Call your credit card company Veey dismissive and angry ! . He was extremely stressed out on the call and very unprofessional and RUDE ! Don’t order from here !
This place is the best local Italian in my area that isn’t over priced. I never mind spending for this food because it’s very well worth it. Italian good made with so much love & always nice & hot. I always buy the chicken parm with the garlic bread with cheese and I tell you, no restaurant tops this one for me. AMAZING !!
Very delicious and excellent service
My family and I were traveling from New Jersey and came working to New York. We though we found what we thought was an a amazing restaurant upon going in everyone was friendly we ordered our food which we all ordered the same dish. Our total came up to $77.30 which we didn’t fully expect but, we knew we would be up there. Due to our circumstances and just trying to find good food cause we aren’t from NY and just trying to get a quick bite that isn’t fast food. We were able to put down what was good for our pockets and traveling back home. We put a $2 tip and the owner or whomever the older man is decided he felt it was best to come to us very aggressively and loudly to demand us to pay $15-$20 for a tip because our tip was a slap in the face to the waiter. Which is a slap in the face to us because we didn’t expect our total to be in the $70 range and we had to pay our bill because that’s what we ordered. Not only that I believe our total had a percentage included which truly brought it up to the price that it was. He wasn’t only loud at our table he went back to the workers and was gossiping about our tip. We had a good time until it came down to this and the sad part is that people are just greedy for money and not truly even knowing peoples finances. We will definitely not be back here.
Meh. The dough was decent but the mushrooms are from can. I was highly disappointed. We also wanted the small pizza and the waiter said it’s too small so we went for larger one and it was huge.Don’t recommend. There are way better places for pizza in the neighborhood.
Family friendly restaurant with friendly staff, offering delicious Italian dishes and pizza at reasonable prices
Delicious food and cozy atmosphere. always a treat. love the food here, always happily surprised
Amazing food here. The place was not crowded at all. We received amazing service and food. Freshness and taste was off the charts. Didn’t feel touristy and all. But did feel very authentic. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good meal.
Celebrating and enjoying quality time with my mother. We had lunch here after a home-going celebration for one of our dear loved ones. So a hearty Italian meal was best for the job. V & T did not disappoint! Flavor was robust and the cheeses blended together like the beautiful dynamic harmony of your favorite love song. Can’t wait to go back!
Today I purchased a large pizza half sasauge and pepperoni the crust was burnt and I went back then the crust was paper thin the second time this cost me $25 very disappointed spoke to the person who took my order stating nothing they could do, First time and last will not be recommending this restaurant.
Ive been coming to V&T Restaurant for fifty years, since I was twelve years old. Some of the best Italian Food and Pizza around. The portions are always generous, the food excellent and the Pepperoni Pizza is just the BEST!! For me, Alex the Owner and many of the staff are like family. Very welcoming, everyone knows my name, and the owner makes it a point to walk around and engage with his customers. V&T is very popular with the Columbia University crowd as it sits in the vicinity of its campus and across from the Cathedral of St. John the Divine and Mt. Sinai Hospital. Friday and Saturday nights tend to be particularly busy, but you wont wait long at all. In fact, Ive never had to wait for a table in 50 years. V&T gives rustic old world charm atmosphere and is perfect in every sense. Check them out and you too will become a devoted fan!!
Have been coming here for years, as great as ever. Our favorite Italian place in the heart of Upper West Side. Amazing food and desserts. This is the kind of place that gets busier with locals as the night goes on.
The waiter is a older gentleman. He was very pleasant. I had lobster ravioli, my youngest daughter had shrimp scampi and my other daughter had roasted chicken and mashed potatoes. The food was demigods. The gentleman who served us made the visit pleasurable. He was kind and accomodating. He told a couple of jokes. The Sangria was delicious. We utilized the outside tables. I havent been out to eat in a very long time. I will be going back to eat there!
This restaurant was not very good. My gf and I were excited to try it because it smells really good when walking by. We had to wait a long time for each item we ordered, and the food was bland. The caprese tasted like it had been frozen then thawed, and the tomato sauce on the pizza and pasta also did not taste fresh or even have such a great flavor at all. The waiter forgot to bring my girlfriend her pasta, then when we finally got it after asking where it was and waiting for the kitchen to make it, it had marinara instead of pesto. All in all: slow service, bad food, high prices. Would not recommend.
Great Italian restaurant. Family feel everyone’s very nice. The food is delicious. I’ve been coming here since I was a kid and it never disappoints. I’ve ate almost everything in the menu and it’s all delicious. My personal favorite is their vodka pasta amazing!
We have been dinning (and take away) at V&T since 1979. The eggplant pizza is the best in the world! The house salad is the best you’ll ever have.Spaghetti and meatballs and chicken parmigiana are delicious as well. Love this place.
Truly one of the best pizzerias Ive ever been to. The special menus are also amazing.
Was hungry and past this place on getting some cookies and we smelled the pizza and it smelled delicious. So we decided to come in.There’s 2 parts of the restaurant. The servers didn’t look happy and barely spoke. You say something and then they leave, like it feels you got ignored. But at least they heard you and got what you wanted.I got pasta e fagioli soup. Definitely not worth the $7. Didn’t taste good. We also got mozzarella sticks they were average. Not the best but not the worst. My brother said they were frozen, you can taste the after taste. They also bring out fresh bread and butter which is delicious.I got broiled pork chops with mashed potatoes. They are 2 thick pieces with some onions and mushrooms and I think garlic on top. It was good. The mash potatoes needed some more salt and a bit of different flavoring, but was okay. My brother and sister got the pepperoni pizza. It was thin and okay.
V & T Pizza is so delicious! The crust is always crispy, combined with sweet (could pass for fresh) tomato sauce and gooey cheese...mouthwatering! Service is good but could be improved.
I stumbled upon this place by accident and fell in love with it. The waiters were incredibly sweet, personable and professional. The service was fast and the food was authentic and delicious. Portions are very generous, so I ended taking leftovers with me, and was even given an additional helping of bread to take. The atmosphere is cozy and reminiscent of a family home kitchen. I look forward to eating here again!
I came here to celebrate my birthday with my partner and the service was terrible. Our server was unfriendly and rude to us. I felt so uncomfortable and didnt end up celebrating. The food was decent but the experiment truly tainted my dining experience here.
Very pleasant dining experience. Food was superb. Got the House special Pizza. I was unable to finish it as I was full after eating half of it. Pasta Carbonara unreal and the best Italian bread I ever tasted.Highly recommended.
Ive gone here since I was a little kid. The servings are almost family-size, at the minimum youll probably leave with to-go bag for lunch. Food comes quick, house wines are decent, and the servers are all very nice. The pizza is a bit oily though. Their outside seating arrangement is a nice addition.
Decent food and a nice old NY Italian atmosphere. I think this place is known for great pizza, we chose to have chicken dishes. Bread was great, we had a good bottle of wine, the Chicken Vinny was a decent dish, enjoyed the pink sauce but the chicken was not as flavorful or textured for the dishes potential.
If I had to choose a place for my last meal on Earth, this would be it. No contest. I’ve been going here with my family and friends since the early 70s and the V&T may be the only real reason I’m sad I don’t live in NY any more. But I’m back every time I visit!
V&T is an old school Italian staple in the neighborhood. Have been going to for years. Have a martini and then red wine with your amazing dinner. Great service and incredible food! Thank you V&T.
Dinner every two weeks for fifty years has proven several truths to me. This is without doubt the best Italian restaurant in New York City. Owned by the same family since 1944, it insists on great waiters, great chefs, a reasonable menu and a dining experience that cant be beat! Terrific joint! Prices have not changed for seven years. Columbia University loves it too.e not
I’m the doormen from 535 west 110st amazing food top number 1 if you want to eat and eat well this is the spot amazing and also the workers are great people so this is the spot ladies and gentleman
I come there with friends and … oh , boy , what a disappointment it was . Have been there many times before. Yet, EVERYTHING, from pizza to pasta and lasagna was garbage. A hungry bay refused to eat pasta with tomato sauce . Pizza with arugula and goat cheese was heavily sprinkled with balsamic vinegar, made it unpalatable. Everything was wrong !!! I am really sorry. Was there a few months ago and loved the pizza. What happened with the cooks ?!!!
Good food, but pushy waiter rushing us on this occasion (better waiter at an earlier visit). Perhaps not kid-friendly when dining in, we had a 3 yo. The previous time, we ate outdoors and had no issues.
I love this place. The food is delicious and the servers are so kind. The pizza is some of the best in NYC, for sure. Also great ambiance! Just one request -- please bring back your old house salads. They were delicious and my family and I were disappointed that the salad changed. Please bring back the old one!! Thanks so much!
Mind blown. Took a chance on this place, because I am new to uptown and was desperate for real Italian. This place is beyond fantastic. Had delivery this 1st time but cant wait to dine there next time. The pizza was fantastic, in fact my very Italian friend is hard to please, so I was impressed to hear him rave and rave about the pizza. He was gushing, no lie! And he ate half the pizza before I had time to eat 1 slice. However, the best part in my opinion was the absolute BEST MEATBALLS Ive had in all my 18 years in NYC. Seriously, Im a huge fan of Carmines and swore their meatballs were #1 but no more! Trust me, THIS PLACE SERVES THE BEST MEATBALLS & RED MARINARA SAUCE in the land. I cant wait to order again, either via phone or through Grubhub. Cant rave enough about this gem of a restaurant. Im just sorry I never knew of them until now. Bravo, V&T!!
First time eating here and my experience was terrible. The place is a traditional Italian restaurant and I thought the food would be better honestly. I got the lasagna primavera, had way too much sauce but I ate it anyways. The thing that ruined the night was the fact that they had a little critter walking around. I’m not kidding, there was a roach walking around our table!! We warned two waiters and they did nothing. Will never eat here again!
I honestly dont think Ill be going back here any time soon. I mean its okay, but the wait was too long for what we got. The chicken I ordered was so overcooked that I didnt want to eat it. Far too overpriced for what you get as well. For example, we paid about $15 for a shrimp cocktail that only had 5 shrimp in it, and I paid $14 for a chicken meal that was hardly edible due to dryness. Im not sure why this place has the ratings it does because my experience here was not good. My money is better spent elsewhere.
We have gone to V&T for over 30 years. For many years their pizza and food was unbeatable. The problem with this restaurant is inconsistency. Sometimes the order is spot on, and sometimes the order is awful. The inconsistency started about 3 years or so ago. I suspect new family taking over and either not caring, or not trained. Most recently, last Tuesday, 9/30/24 we ordered a pizza with a tri Colore Salad. (in the past the salad was fantastic, therefore we reordered.) Since it was the night of the VP debate, we ordered early. Around 5 ish. The pizza was the usual great pizza this time, but the salad was awful! The tri colore salad was basically a chopped up head of red cabbage or some red lettuce variation, with a few strands of lettuce. We tried to call and complain, but couldnt get through. I believe that V&T feels that since a large amount of their business is students, and students come and go, they can send out garbage without worry. This is especially easy for them since they are on the university meal plan. They have an easy gig. It is easy to rip off the students since they are busy and dont complain like us, awful long time customers. V&T, please just post that you do not want long time customers and save us the hassle of ordering from you.
One of my favorite restaurants uptown! Huge, delicious portions, love their Caesar salad and chicken parm. In warm weather, its a joy to sit outside overlooking the cathedral and sip wine. Be sure to buy a bottle, the house wine leaves something to be desired more often than not.
Fabulous food. Huge portions. Fun. Loved it.
Delicious pizza! I asked the waiter if it needed extra cheese. He said No, but Ill put it on there for you anyways.. (You have to read that in a 60+ year old Italian voice) The pizza was great, but he was right about the cheese. It would have been better without it. Crust was delicious! My wife thought he was grumpy. I thought he was great!
Best old school southern Italian restaurant in upper Manhattan. The pizza and baked pasta dishes are as good as it gets. Professional service and a family friendly environment make it perfect for a regular night out.
V&T is probably the best Italian restaurant in New York. I love the decor, and ambience. Add to that a pleasant and welcoming staff, generous portions of freshly prepared high quality food, and you have all of the reasons to eat here. Enjoy!
Great service. Amazing and unique cheesy pizza. The eggplant pizza is very good. The service was also great.
Cute place inside. Didnt think it would based on the outside.Food was a pretty good price. Especially for the serving sizes. Neither of us could finish our meals. The garlic bread + mozzarella / pepperoni was delicious. Loved it.The wheat beer, (Ottogang Witte?) Was a pretty decent wheat beer. Didnt like that it was bottled, but it was nice that they brought a glass for me to poor into.We both got fettuccine Alfredo, and I got the chicken with it. Overall, was pretty good. Pasta didnt seem homemade, but still liked it. Cant exactly say the same about the chicken. I dont know if it was dry, but it wasnt much better than some chicken Id cook at home.Seating was a bit cramped. However, decent experience all around. Id recommend trying it.
Eating in is way better than ordering out. The service here is great and the food and portions and prices are well worth it. Place is a little dark and could use a remodel - but if you want really good food at really good price, this is your place. I LOVE THE HOME FEELING !! If you come a lot - everyone knows you... I highly recommend...
The eggplant had a cold center. The soda was flat. The salad dressing not mixed. The people are sweet though. But my tip is just be sure you are on top of the kitchen to get you the right things the way you wanted them.
Who doesnt love this place as the neighborhood comfort Italian restaurant. I get hungry and happy just thinking about a meal in its once distinguished but now a little elderly and unchanged interior.
Terrible restaurant. We were visiting from overseas and are used to good quality Italian cuisine. This is not good Italian food! The broccoli angle hair pasta was passable. The ravioli was poor with a tasteless filling. The pizza was the worst pizza we have had so far in NYC. The base was soggy and burnt and tasted like it had been frozen; the tomato sauce was bland, and the toppings were poor quality ingredients. To top it off the waiter was unfriendly and gave a rude response when we asked questions about the menu. However, the orders did arrive promptly.
This is a hidden gem. V & T has multiple other restaurants on the same block that look more appealing visually while walking by, but this place blows them away with high class Italian food. Every dish we had was exceptional. The meatball sub I had was cheap, huge, and truly homemade-level quality.
Just delightful in every way. This place is emblematic of the elegantly simple old-school New York I’ve been missing as a Gen Z’er. Delicious food, warm atmosphere, and friendly, attentive staff. Can’t think of enough good things to say.
A year later, we still talk about this pizza.Best pizza of our lives! The staff are lovely and happy to help. The decor is exactly as youd expect from an old Italian place. And the pizza is just spectacular, my mouth is watering just thinking about it and Im still stuffed.
I found the pizza lacking flavor compared to many other NYC places. Overall good experience, staff and atmosphere
It was my first time there. Im just strolling by looking for something to eat. Love it. Im looking forward to seeing them again.
Walked in to this place with family for italian food. We got pizza and a chicken dish and salad. It was all good and reasonably priced.
Avoid this at all cost, food is terrbile, there’s no way italian’s would approve of this, also the stuff isn’t very friendly. Also the bill for 5 pizzas was around 200$ which made no sense, we got the hand-written unreadable bill and there was 20% gratuity for nothing!!!
Very disappointing. It smells better than it taste. The meatballs were dry and grainy, completely inedible. The best thing about my meal was the bread. I wouldnt recommend.
Good chicken piccata, some of the best Ive had! I wish I could do 4.5 stars instead of 4 - the only problem was that for $18 the chicken piccata came out with thin cuts of chicken (as it should be), and nothing else. That is - no bed of pasta or anything, just some little chicken strips and the sauce. The waiter then offered us a side of pasta without us having to request it - so great, problem solved, right? But what they brought after quite a while was a side of pasta with marinara - literally a side of pasta like what would be ordered (but it came free). I want to stress that I really hate deducting a star for this because it was really good pasta and sauce! But what I actually *needed* was something to eat my chicken with lol. Anyway, I dug out the pasta from underneath the marinara that hadnt gotten sauce all over it yet and used that with moderate success - then of course ate the rest of the delicious marinara! But next time I know to ask for the marinara on the side of my side of pasta, and this review is mostly a note to my future self. Ill update with 5 stars after future success, cause Ill definitely come back here!
Excellent food. You should stop by and try itVery authentic and great portionsSalad, bread and my shrimp fettuccine Alfredo
The pizza here should not be overlooked! It is great! This is a true Italian American restaurant that casually keeps a uniquely East Coast style alive and kicking! Did I mention that the food is delicious?
Cant sit at a table without someone hitting into you . Waiter have a major attitude like your doing them a favor. The waitress gives dirty looks to customers. Pizza isnt that great . Ill sick to my neighbor pizza place
Got an order for pick the other night and it was a good experience overall. Its definitely not the place to get authentic New York Style pizza IMO. Ive had better tasting pizza in the city. It is however a place that I would go again if Im in the area and Im in the mood for some pizza.
The food is great and the staff is kind as a family. Im lucky to have such a good restaurant in my town. Please stay with us for a long time
A family and friend favorite. Great food prepared lovingly with generous portions and a reasonable bill. Pizza and entrees all delicious. Friendly service, too!
The pizza from this place is fantastic - great sauce, plenty of cheese - but I consistently find hair in their pizza. This was originally a 3 star review until I found another hair literally as I was writing it. Get a hairnet already.
Yummy pepperoni pizza. I really enjoyed the pizza and they made it really fast when I popped in around lunch time.
I didn’t get to eat here. There’s a cute outdoor seating area. I’ve attached the latest menu though and will consider coming back.
I was really surprised by this place. Its basically a glorified pizzeria but the food is very good. The chicken Parm here is a huge portion and better than most chicken parms youll find at higher end restaurants. The tomato sauce in general stands out so feel free to stick to the red sauce. V&T is perfect for a casual dinner.
I wouldnt recommend the entrees (not so great), however their pizza (cheese or pepperoni) is the ABSOLUTE BEST Ive ever had in my 40yrs as a New Yorker ♥♥♥. The service has always been acceptable when I dine in and the atmosphere could use an upgrade but overall BEST PIZZA IN NYC!!!
Really good Italian food, simple the best.I have been coming here for almost 10 years and is always the some good food and nice service. Those who havent been here yet I recommend come here and see yourself.
Came here after a really long time - love this place specially the penne alla vodka.
Loved this place when I was young. Was shocked at how horrible the pizza was when I returned as an adult. On top of that, the owner(?) or manager (?) was incredibly abusive when we mentioned the poor pizza and aggressive to my father who is elderly and in a wheelchair. It was unbelievable. Shameful
Hearty Italian fare in a warm family setting. Great staff and delicious pizza! The salads and specials dont disappoint. Great quality at reasonable prices.
Penne Alla Vodka was delicious. I would buy it again.
Great great meal- salad and delicious pie, got , perfect crust and perfectly well cooked !So great
Environment really cozy. Theres a good pizza with good prices too. The waiter was so attencious to us and talked to us about our visiting to the country. It was a glad experience having dinner there.
Delicious appetizers (calamari, fried ravioli) and good service. But my baked ziti couldve had more sauce. A bit dry.
Service was a touch on the slower side but for it being a Sunday night Ill give them a pass. Food was fantastic, a really good chicken parm. Portions are generous and pricing is a dream!
Customer service is sketchy. The lady waitress acts like she doesnt want you there. Get a bad vibe like im not wanted which doesnt sit well with me since im paying there salary. Food is ok and the owner seems cool just need to hire better waiters and waitresses.
Great service, food quality is excellent and lunch specials are cheap. Food is full of flavor and portions are just right. Very cool sidewalk seating in the spring and summertime.
Honestly, the food was not good for the price. I dont know if its because I ordered takeout, but the food was bland and the bread they gave us was tasteless and wasnt warm at all.
Excellent, it is my favorite place for lunchThank you,Marina
Nice, quaint restaurant. The food is really good and complimentary warm bread is brought to the table. Ive been visiting for years. The staff is attentive.
Eat there frequently, excellent chicken dishes, salad or pasta is included. Popular pizza variety to eat in or take out. Reasonable prices. Pleasant and attentive staff.
Food is excellent, really we eat there all the time. I know sometimes it takes a long time but it’s worth it. They staff is older be patient and nice they really work hard in there
Omg I love this restaurant so much!! The food delicious! I’m so grateful they’re on Ubereats.. I can get a piece of happiness delivered right to my door. The garlic bread?! DELIGHTFUL ! With the mozz cheese! HEAVEN !!
Got the mozz sticks and the meatball ziti. I was impressed with the food. Service was very nice. I went at a busy time and they cleared up a spare table for me.
Better find another place.
The pizza here is probably the worst Ive had. It is extremely soggy, unbelievable soggy. The only reason they are still in business is because they have a contract with Columbia University. Ive given this place three chances to change my mind and I always tell myself, Dont order from here again!
Love this place! The ambiance is the best!
A great authentic Italian restaurant. We moved to the area recently and are happy to find this gem.
Wonderful!! Every timeI have been going since I was a little girl. Its our families favorite restuarant. Yummy!!
Pretty good pizza and service was nice too
This place is amazing! I went with my mom for her birthday and we got there around 5, was empty so we were seated immediately. The waiter was friendly. We got the mozzarella sticks (which brought 6, we just ate 2 before the photo) and they were so much better than the frozen kind most restaurants sell. The manicotti parm I got was AMAZING, tasted so fresh. My moms meatball and peppers parm sandwich was a 5/5. Had tender meatballs and had a homemade quality. Dessert we had spumoni gelato and OMG that pistachio gelato was beautiful. However there were no nuts and candied fruit like the menu showed so idk. But regardless I would totally go back.
V&Ts was rated #1 pizza in NYC by New York Magaazine in the latee 1960s and 1970s. I started enjoining V&Ts in 1969 and continue to do so. I still say V&T makes the best pizza ANYWHERE! First taste a plain pie and savor the flavor and the best crust. When bringing enough friends, we share a pizza as an appetizer. But, in my opinion, the pizza is #2. V&T serves the best Veal Parm. Once, several colleages and I had V&Ts veal parm one evening. The next night we had veal parm at Patsys. Patsys was outstanding, but we voted Patsys #2, with V&Ts #1. Also, the staff at V&Ts is classic NYC. The BEST! I moved out of the UES over 40 years ago, but continue to enjoy V&Ts frequently. I always take 1st visitors to V&Ts and when they return, it is always a place to which they insist upon returning. P. S. - Dint forget to have a cannoli.
The food was definitely terrific! The pepperoni pizza is like nothing Ive ever tasted in my whole life. I recommend this place to anyone.
Loved the outdoor dining setup! Warm, but great ventilation
Delicious food, great service, and typical pizza place atmosphere. So NYC!
Beautiful Italian restaurant, staff are polite and good place to celebrate birthday with Familys
One of the best for traditional pizzas. Great topping choices. Very reasonable prices - under $25 for large with 2 or 3 toppings.
A solid pizza menu, pleasant hosts, and a relaxing environment.
Family-owned restaurant with excellent prices, food, and portions. The family and wait staff are very friendly and very attentive. Hard to beat for ambience and decor, with authentic food as well.
V & T Restaurant is an amazing place to have dinner. The service is excellent and the waitress are helpful and Courteous. The prices are Reasonable.
Hearty Italian food, amazing house wine, excellent prices, excellent service and ambiance! Perfect place for family gathering and large groups.
Was in the mood for a white clam pie so ordered the clam. What arrived was a red sauce based pie with gross canned clams. Maybe my fault for not specifying more, but I couldn’t even eat it
Unfortunately their GF dough is not good and the pizza was incredibly salty. I hope regular ones taste better.
Unpretentious, down to earth, authentic Italian-American fare. Great flavor and portion sizes (youll have lunch for the next day).
This place amazes me. I went here as a kid back in the 70s when we lived in the area. Went back about 5 years ago, hasnt changed and still great food!
The epitome of a neighborhood Italian restaurant, as much a part of the Upper West Side as the M104. Not fancy, just plain good. The waiters are waiters, and not actors waiting for a phone call from their agent.
Sidewalk cafe. Tables are distance apart. Heating lamps at each table. No inside setting. Food is still great. 👍👍
The seating and table positioning can be tight but the pastas were delicious
Authentic Italian place with a lot of seating place. If you love Italian food and are hanging out near Columbia University, go visit this place for some good Pizza , Bread and wine!
The food was horrible!! The pizza tasted stale, the cheese was hard. The dough taste old and the calamari was very bland. I do not recommended this place!
Food is always great.Desert was great.Manny the server was on top of things and very good.
We always get the pepperoni pizza because the pepperoni is nothing Ive ever tasted before. Service can be a bit slow, but the wait is soooo worth it. What can I say, I would recommend this to everyone!
The portions were huge and both the chicken parmesan with spaghetti and the Italian combo sandwich were delicious.
Happily retired now, having loved V&T since my Barnard College days. We went there, ordered Cokes and a large pizza. Now it’s more often delivery of a medium pie with a Caesar salad. Best pizza place in NYC. Also: best chicken marsala!
Amazing food, so many choices. Great staff and make sure to grab a mint on your way out, they are great.
I love this place. Have only had pizza and lasagna. An old fashioned red and white checkered tablecloth placw
Family style restaurant with authentic Italian food. Wonderful wait staff as well.Affordable and delicious.
Old style family pizzeria restaurant - old style waiters n delicious spinach pizza 🍕 😋
Excellent food. Good pizza and wonderful service. I recommend. Not fancy.
Me and my friends went here to eat pizza because it was late and we were really hungry, when we came in, this rude lady in front took our order we specifically said we wanted to dine in, we sat down and waited a long time and no food , we ask the waitress and they ignore us so we had to ask the lady at the front and she continued to be rude and said how allegedly we said we wanted “take out” when that was completely false we had to eat a cold pizza outside in the freezing cold because they made a really uncomfortable and unwelcoming environment.
Its a nice place to have food with family or friends the pizza so delicious also u can have drinks too amazing
Great service, Generous portions, moderately priced. Quiet place to eat alone in a Rainy Friday night
ONe of my staples. Classic NY Italian with all the right stuff. No fuss, good solid food, easy atmosphere.
Love the carafe of house wine and a huge pies! Old school but really delicious and serving up a mean pizza.
Truly authentic! My family and I are from out of town and we really enjoyed our meal here.
The food was ok, the chicken francese was a bit raw for my liking
Though they accommodated a large group with many kids, the restaurant was incredibly loud, no warmth to the atmosphere of the place and the pizza was mediocre at best. I was surprised.
Margherita pizza was without taste, basil was bitter and tomato sauce was without well defined flavor. So disappointed
There were swarms of roaches under our table. Disgusting!!
The crust was OK, but the vegetables on the veggie special were all canned. Canned mushrooms peppers that were marinated in vinegar. Absolutely nothing fresh on the pizza. Big disappointment.
Delicious pizza!!
I got the lobster ravioli and it cleared my skin and got my parents back together it was so good
Good food and excellent service. The best pizza Ive had
Great food. Slow service. I get the feeling they dont like Jews that much.
Very nice staff, moderate prices and tasty pasta cuisine
Red sauce, checked tablecloths, service by real waiters -- and it hasnt changed a bit.
Good food ( and desert perfect) and the service is excellent. Nice place, i can only recomment ir.
Great service food was delicious and so were the drinks
A mainstay since I was in my 20s....35 years later and theyre still here...great food....they make ya feel like family
Cheesey greasy pizza of the very best kind. the polar opposite of lombardis but still excellent in a different way.
Top notch pizza at student and old timer hangout. Old time atmosphere. Nothing fancy.
Loved this place since I started teaching in 81
The food and atmosphere is amazing, the servers on the other hand, are very disappointing. Just make it clear that you don’t want black patrons or our money in your establishment instead of being passive aggressive and disrespectful towards customers. The service is absolutely appalling.
One very good lunch and dinner restaurant. Love the personal pizza here.
Food not as tasty for an italian restaurant. Sauce a little bland for my taste. Not highly likely to return.
As I looked through the menu, the waiter assumed I only wanted pizza. He never came back to my table after my pizza order. When I called him back for wine and house salad (lots of lettuce, tomatoes and a few cucumber pieces, he was put upon. When he disappeared again, I could see him smoking a cigarette on the curb. This was when the restaurant was practically empty. Best part of the meal for me was the red Sangria. Not sore if Ill be back here.
If I had the ability to I would leave a 1/2 star. Very unprepared for the group that had a reservation 2 months in advance.
It may sound like I am exaggerating, but the dinner experience was dreadful. The service was slow in ordering drinks, and then even slower (and unfriendly) in ordering our food. Not that it was worth the wait. The pasta was simply tasteless, and the other dishes mediocre. To top it off, the restaurant was noisy and expensive. I would not recommend it.
We love coming here. It’s a great kid friendly place. My girls love the kids spaghetti and meatballs.I get a variety of dishes depending on my mood. It’s classic Italian almost anything you fancy. They have a nice wine selection. Not too extravagant, just yummy.
Old favorite better than ever for pizza (and other Italian fare) salad and drinks.
In desperate need of a facelift, but no one cares. Great spot for a large group- 30 people!- that wont break the budget.
Most comfortable outside seating in the area. Best heat lamps.
Hands down one of the restaurants with the best tiramisu in NYC!
Disappointing, I has not been to V&T for years. But my memory was of excellent Italian food. Not anymore!
Marinara sauce needs improvement, but the food was hot and pretty good
Est. 1951Layout/atmosphere*Checker cloth tables; two dining rooms; bar in back; covered outdoor dining structure in streetFood/drink*Chicken piccata with linguine in garlic & oil - Good; lemon flavor came through; pasta was solid, little heavy on the oil towards the end*Rigatoni vodka - Good; no meat in sauce[Small loaf of Italian bread complimentary with entree orders]
Enjoyed dinner after a visit to the Cathedral on Mothers Day. The menu is extensive and the accompanying side dishes enough.Portions are satisfying. Service was excellent. Will definitely go again.
Couldnt believe that veg pizzas can be amazing! (They do have non veg options, I was merely in the mood)
Absolutely delicious. Service was above average and the full menu offered something for everyone. Can’t wait to return and try the pizza.
Awesome place my dad ate there when he was a boy and now I bring my kids here...3 generation breaking bread there.
Best eggplant rollatini and eggplant pizza anywhere!
I have eaten at V&T regularly for five years and always enjoyed their pizza and Italian food. It’s a good value. A recent delivery order of undercooked of calamari gave my dining companions terrible food poisoning.
Awesome be going there for over 30yrs the food and service is great!!!
Great shrimp pizza🤘🙂
Great food but service needs some work.
Love the food in this place! Great prices too!
Not good food, takes too long, and much too expensive for the quality.
This restaurant is one of the best in the city.
Great pasta and pizza!!
Nice atmosphere and good service 👍. Food is good.
Was disappointed with my dish. Ordered a chicken milanese and got a plate with a breaded fried cutlet, smothered in marinara sauce. No greens or bruschetta. Our server was ok. The place was nice and clean but got very loud as it got crowded.
Cozy pace good food all you need for a nice meal
The service was top tier.
Cannoli was good, but not $9 good
They took my grandaughters baby chair and NO BABY Changing area also their Pizza NOT GOOD
The restaurant that time forgot, but good, solid italian food for not much money.
Didnt care for rhe service or rhe food.. Pizza was very soggy.
We heard from a local soccer mom that this was a great place for groups (we had 10 teenagers and 4 adults). The food was excellent and the servers were great. However, they initially said no to having a group come - turns out there was a rowdy funeral after party, everyone up and standing around/at different tables and talking extremely loudly. We were just plopped on the edge of that room and couldnt hear anyone next to us. There was no attempt to quiet or ask people to sit down, and I had to switch seats so a student wouldnt be jostled around by passersby. We ended up group texting through the whole meal just to communicate. Please keep that space for a big private group only & dont do this to another group - we would gladly have split into smaller tables for a bit of peace and personal space.
Best, eggplant rollatini on the planet 🤘✨
The men who do delivery here are extremely disrespectful and classless. Do better when hiring your employees👎🏽
This place has been around for a long time and I really like the old fashioned Italian style look of this restaurant. We ordered the garlic bread, margarita pie, chicken piccata with linguine and the cherry cheesecake for dessert. The pizza was good but a bit too soggy for my liking. I thought the chicken piccata was flavorful but perhaps we should have paired it with something else besides the linguine since the red sauce was too sweet and didnt compliment the chicken. The cheesecake was good. Prices here are reasonable considering the area.
Love it! Delicious pizza and awesome service.
Delicious pies & inexpensive wines. Great for larger parties.
Very nice place to eat, excellent food.
Pizza was great and the place is very laid back.
Terrible food and even worse service. I had a delivery man curse me out and then I found a ROACH in my spaghetti I am beyond disgusted 0/10 will never eat here again.
Outstanding Italian restaurant with delicious ziti and pizza. The ambience feels very nice and cozy. Very good value.
Delicious authentic Italian food
