What a nice little find. This small barely noticable Japanese cocktail spot. They have limited food but that is not what you are there for. The drinks are the stars of the show here. They have wide variety and some custom made local ones for LES/Japan.The place has no awning so you can miss it. With that said it is super nice lounge/Bar
This place is awesome! We had reservations for a party of 2 for a Saturday evening. The place was poppin so make sure you make a res too! The vibe inside is dark and intimate. I would not recommend for parties larger than 4For drinks we got the:- Sakura martini: surprisingly refreshing?- Far East Side: yum!- Hojicha old fashioned: (I did not taste but was told its delicious)For food, we got the okonomiyaki. It was pretty salty and I dont think Id buy it again (esp. for $19!)Overall - recommend for a lovely date night!
Enjoyed a delightful Hojicha old-fashioned. It was well balanced, complex, and delightful. My second drink was OK. The service was prompt and efficient. It was overall a good experience, but I expected more since I found the bar at number 83 of the top 100 bars in the world. It’s a very good bar.
A proper Japanese bar. Bar Goto serves perfect kakigori during the summer using clear ice imported from Japan and a well-maintained shaving device, resulting in fluffy flaky ice shards. Drinks were excellent. The clarified miso cocktail balanced the salty miso with a caramel-like sweetness in the background.
Nice cocktail bar. Cool menu. Not a lot of flexibility of modifications to drinks .
Such a cute spot! Great selection of Japanese whiskey too, the Okinomiyaki is so good! Hojicha old fashioned was the highlight for us.
Amazing experience. Unique food and ambiance. In drinks I ordered Goto Martini followed by LES which was very good. The sesame and shiso marinated celery appetizer was so good. Tasted somewhat like the cucumber salad but very flavorful. I would like to try the Chicken wings next time. It was my first time trying the seafood Okonomiyaki and it was nice. The staff was very friendly as well. There could be a little waiting sometimes.
Visited here on Chef Raymond Trinh’s recommendation. If you’re not going to wait three hours for Double Chicken Please and Attaboy, BAR GOTO is a wonderful alternative in the Lower Eastside.Japanese-style bar serving wonderful classics from high balls to shochu, all in a dimly lit backdrop. It’s like if you were overworked Japanese salaryman finding an oasis in a local haunt to relax his nerves, but you’re actually in the top 5% of earners and barely touched Slack today. The drinks did great.
Went here on a recommendation from local NYorker!! The okonomiyaki was amazing service amazing and the ambiance perfect.Great place to have a drink w intimate conversationsI just wish they had a tad more tapas style menu, but I’d go back again for sure
Small cozy cocktail bar. The cocktails offered were unique and amazing! You must try the Hot Toddy!! It’s perfect for a wintery night. The do ask for vaccination and ID so be prepared to show that. They have an excellent selection of Japanese whiskey. The bar tenders are friendly and will help you order the drinks. Definitely visiting this place again!
Great little space. Came here on a Sunday evening and experienced what amounts to chill vibes. The bar is first come first serve but there are seating options. The food menu here is short and is meant to support the cocktails. It reminded me of Izakayas in Japan.I had the pickles (great palate cleanser), Sime saba (amazing), and a plum boulevardier to start. Great combo. For a second round I had the miso wings, celeary, and their Martini. The sake really comes out in this martini. Its served with a stuffed (cheese) olive. All good. Ask for extra napkins if you get the wings though - you may need it.
Mecca. The menu, like the space, is small and perfectly crafted. Perhaps I have had a better cocktail than the White Peach somewhere in my travels, but if so I cannot recall when and where that was. And for the bonus, try the Sabe/Makerel….
A really nice spot for grabbing a meal with coworkers or friends. ambiance is very nice and staff is super attentive and helpful with menu options. the sushi had high quality fish with well seasoned rice and we enjoyed all the rolls and sashimi we tried. the wagyu gyoza was a little too heavy for my liking but overall I enjoyed my time here
After seeing great reviews for this place and the nice looking cocktail list, I was excited to give it a try. But I was really underwhelmed by the actual drinks. My boyfriend and I each tried three different drinks and I wasnt a fan of any of them except for the sake I drank at the end. The drinks are also $16 each, so it was a bummer that we paid a lot of money for stuff we didnt actually like.
Really good drinks. All with a solid Japanese vibe. It’s by ex-Pegu team so you can’t expect anything less.I had the okonomiyaki, which was one of those things that you have no idea what it is going in your mouth but it tastes so good. Although my roommate felt it had too much sauce.
Food is disgusting. Just regular lays chips, chicken wings are impossible to eat. But cocktails are very good.
Bar Goto should be everyone’s go-to in LES. This place is like an Izakaya and cocktail lounge had a baby. Perfect for a drink alone, night w friends, or a date, the menu is small but well curated. Amazing cocktails and delicious Japanese bar food
Great atmosphere. Very intimate. Fantastic. Service. Drinks are unique. NYC definitely has a place for this talented team and unique set of flavors.
Strong cocktails, perfectly mixed and balanced. Interesting flavors. Strongly recommend the Oolong drink with the peach & anise. The miso wings are out of this world. Nice quiet place. Perfect for meeting a friend or a date.
Amazing drinks, intimate atmosphere and unpretentious servers. Creative Japanese flavored cocktails. The okonomiyaki was tasty. Solid bar if I was in the area but I do wish they had more cocktail choices.
Cool cocktail bay with great Japanese based food. Okonomiyaki was incredible.
This small establishment is a gem and if you are lucky enough to get a seat at the bar pay attention to the craftsmanship of your drink.I didnt get anything to eat so this review is on the drinks alone. The bartender worked his magic and created familiar cocktails with elegant flavors and Asian twists.Really a special place to have a drink.
Great cozy bar with a fantastic vibe. Drinks were phenomenal. Everyone from the security/front to the bartenders were polite and friendly, ready to serve as a team, and helpful. Highly recommend.
Great spot. I only came in for a drink but it smelled crazy good in there. Next time I go back Ill definitely plan to grab a bite. I ordered the LES cocktail and it had a nice kick but wasnt too powerful or overwhelming.
Not a bad bar. I got into a verbal altercation with another customer, which is fine, but I didnt appreciate the passive aggressive comment by the bartender. Nevertheless, he mixed relatively well and its a bar worth visiting from time to time. Is this review unfair? Possibly, but its based off of a couple of occasions. We had wings on two separate occasions and the first time it was a little too sweet, but the second time it was spot on.
The drinks are precise, balanced and complex - and that thoughtful composition extends to the rest of the experience, too; the glassware is always perfectly sized and chosen to the drink (as well as lovely to look at, especially the sleek mixing glasses behind the bar), the menu is beautifully typeset on nice paper in a leather folio, and the design of the space, from lighting to seating, feels both elevated and welcoming.I cant speak to the entire food menu, because every time I come here I go straight for the kombu celery and have on at least one occasion gotten two orders of it in a row - its a deeply addictive snack thats exactly the right combination of crunchy, fresh, salty and umami for me, and its the perfect foil for a martini (of which the Bar Goto menu provides multiple excellent examples).
Unique Japanese style cocktails in a dark but cozy bar. I highly recommend the Sakura martini!
Cool cocktail bar, great drinks. Great ambience.
Great cocktail spot for a date or late-night meet up with a friend. Japanesish vibes, great service, typical NYC cocktail bar prices.
Solid cocktails and great atmosphere. Casual yet refined
Great place with speakeasy atmosphere. Many sake inspired cocktail. Im a huge sazerac fan and tried my first plum sazerac here and was pleasantly surprised.
Really nice atmosphere! Waitress was not super friendly though. Drinks were quite disappointing. We had their twist on the Paloma and Margerita that tasted just like bad versions of the classics, nothing special at all...
Fantastic little speakeasy-style cocktail bar on Eldridge Street just off Houston. Dimly lit and beautifully themed with a superb cocktail program. Drinks are average 17-18 bucks. Service is superb. Pop in on a week night when it’s slower. You won’t be disappointed.
LOVED, especially the okonomiyaki and celery salad
I love Bar Goto. The drinks are consistently excellent (the sakura martini is a particularly distinct stand-out), and the wings are astounding — no refined cocktail bar should have wings that good. The space is small, so it may be a wait, but they do a lot with that small space and the service is efficient and welcoming. If there’s a wait, it’s worth it.
The drinks here were innovative and delicious! If it wasn’t for last call we would have kept ordering more cocktails. I’ll have to come back here to try the food based on other reviewers
Signature cocktails were good although on the expensive side ($17-18). More traditional ones are cheaper it seems (Negroni $14).The atmosphere was fine.Service was great. We were there a bit early so there were only few people. The crowd started arriving around 18:30, which is when we left.
Best part about this bar is the staff and bartenders. Everyone is very friendly and the bartenders are very passionate about what makes the drinks good, leading them to give you samples of some of the grain alcohols that you might be less familiar with. Its a nice touch, and it really helps you discern what you like or dont like about the cocktails once you have some base notes to pick out. Overall though, the cocktail list is limited, and while all the drinks are good their collective flavor range is relatively narrow. But where else can you get a cocktail served in a wooden box?
The space is very small and can get cramped very easily. Cocktails are a must try. They also have good selection of spirits
Unique selection of cocktails with a Japanese twist… Tried four different cocktails as a group and for the most part all were very good. The appetizers are also equally interesting… Particularly enjoyed the meetokonomiyaki!with bacon and pork belly. The appetizers we did try was somewhat greasy. Overall a nice bar to drop into with friends…
A small, venue with small plates and exceptional cocktails. There is a distinct Japanese influence, yet many cocktails go far beyond that with creativity. I highly recommend going here for a high end experience, though even on an off night the place is often full as there are not many tables on seats at the bar.
Really great bar in a great location.I suggest trying the tomatillo drink! That was our favorite.
Fantastic food and cocktails. Had the okonomiyaki and two matcha cocktails, and they were delicious. The service is also fantastic, even when the place crowded. Will definitely come back any time Im in this area. The decor is beautiful, a lot of places in the area like to skimp or have awful taste, but GOTO delivers.
Bouncer/staff gave us a hard time about not having a reservation. Then spent the next 90 minutes in a basically empty bar. Trying a little too hard to be cool. That being said, amazing scallion pancakes. Like, Michelin tier restaurant food in a cocktail bar.
Great cocktails but small space feels a bit stuffy
Wonderful experience. How they make celery mind blowing is a mystery but order 2 and the chicken wings. The cocktails are perfectly balanced, subtle and intriguing. Pairs with the most inviting service this was really a stand out.
Cute bar with delicious cocktails! Popped in for a quick drink and they were able to kindly squeeze us in to a small table.
The beverages offered at this establishment were undoubtedly creative and delectable… will be returning
Went there over the weekend and enjoyed the Japanese pancake and drinks. I got a gin based drink that I enjoyed. Limited food menu but the pancake was decent. I was taken aback when I got the dried fish with my vegetarian dish.
Really cool little spot. Low-key, really helpful staff, delicious sakes, and great side dishes. I highly recommend for chilling at with the boys (or girls). The sake sips so well be careful not to get wasted too quickly so you can enjoy it.
Hidden gem in LES that is an intimate setting - 8 tables for 2 each, outdoor seating of up to 12 or so, and the bar area has 12 seats. The whiskey highball was well mixed - not too strong, but also not too weak. Would be ideally perfect with a slight tint more of whiskey and a larger ice cube. The bottle it comes in is TOGO, so it seems like it is premade. The wait here can be difficult, which can cause frustration to others. Theres plenty of standing room inside to cater towards 10-12 or so, but you may be standing there for a very long time. Note that your full party must be in attendance first to join the waitlist!Overall, fun spot if youre able to get a sit down table.
My first time here and the service was great! Nice strong drinks and the food is amazing! A new Go To bar :)
Fantastic. Delicious. Food was amazing, drinks were strong. So glad we found this place!Update: its 4 + years later and were back! Still amazing. Still delicious. So glad we could visit and that this place is still here!
Solid bar. Have had a tomatillo & shiso drink here that was really good. Some of the other cocktails are subpar.Food-wise, the okonomiyaki is great.
Wow do I love this place. Chris and Matt are great behind the bar. Personable, welcoming, knowledgeable, and make great cocktails to boot. Started with the kanpai (beer + a shot) and paired that with miso wings. Dammit these wings are good. Awesome spice and fall off the bone tender. Had the Far East Side, the Improved Shochu Cocktail, and their cocktail special made with red bean soup and served with a side of ice cream. My God. Get here fast.Came on a Thursday around 5:45, by 715 almost all seats are occupied. Run here after work.
Small bar with Japanese vibe. Worth a check in
The unqiue drinks were amazing, the small plates delicious, and we would go again were it not for the bar manager( or host?) glaring at me after we bumped into each other, despite my apologies. Such a pity, because we truly enjoyed their cocktails and miso wings.
Great, intimate bar with an epic selection of Japanese whiskeys and a small but delicious selection of food. Gets busy quick so get there early!
Great cocktail bar with good atmosphere and lots of people.
Expect a bit of a wait. If youre meeting folks, make sure you all arrive on time or youll see your table go to later parties. The wait is worth it though. The cocktails are great and unique. Koji-san is 👌. The food is good accompaniments. And the staff is stylish and friendly, giving excellent recommendations as well as enthusiasm.
Excellent cocktails. pre-dinner gem.
A place to go in new york city to enjoy japanese whiskey & japanese food.Okonomiyaki + chichibu / yamazaki. What a combination.
If there is a ten star option I would not hesitate to give then ten stars. Killer bar food, dont go without ordering the Miso chicken wings. As for cocktail menus, LES and Far East Side are the essential drinks here.
Old fashioned with a matcha twist, okonomiyaki(a little burnt), good vibes, both delicious.
Cabbage pancakes are nice. The veggie one also gets served with a side of fish and an idiot like me wouldnt even realise it.Cocktails are alright.
Delicious bites and cocktails. Always a scene.
A highly authentic Japanese bar.
Staff was nice, but wouldnt recommend for going during covid. Their outdoor space, through no fault of their own, is pretty small & without much ambiance, so the premium youre paying for drinks in NYC isnt super worth it, other than to support the business.
Love this place, great drinks and snacks, definitely on the pricey side
About as close to an authentic Japanese style hipster cocktail as you can get in NYC. Small bar, but on an off night youll find yourself at the bar or at a 2-top table.Pro Tip: One if the top bars that also serve food. Order snacks indeed here!
I went to Bar Goto last night, everyone was super nice and the drinks were great! 👍🏻I saw they offer gluten free okonomi-Yaki and was super excited because I am gluten intolerant. I asked the waitress if all options are gluten free and she told me yes except the fish option. We decided on the herbivore and when it came to the table double checked that it was indeed the gluten free option. It was and I ate it. It was delicious!Fast forward to this morning though and clearly there was something in the dish that was not gluten free. Perhaps in the sauce? In the oyster sauce or the Worcestershire?I should have been more specific as many people don’t know many sauces can contain gluten. I just wanted to warn anyone else with celiac.
Tiny space with good cocktails. It’s great to have the Okonomiyaki (pancake) as the midnight snack!
Inovative cocktails & Japanese bar snacks at this contemporary izakaya. Great selection of Japanese whiskeys. Small place with a no reservation policy. Turn over was brisk on a Thursday night. I didnt see anyone waiting for a seat. Domo arigato gosaimashita Kenya Goto San.
Stylish, inviting and cosy bar in LES with Japanese-inspired food and drinks. The Yuzu sour cocktail was excellent. Come early in the evening as it looks like it gets popular and busy later on.
This place has great drinks, great service, cool atmosphere, and the best snacks. A little hot on a summer night though, so if it’s a nice night try to sit outside. This place gets crowded and stays crowded so try to come early!
Really amazing experience if you want some great cocktails this is the place to be, get that Far Eat Side it was amazing
Excellent Japanese inspired cocktails and cocktails. This is a great date place or a great place to grab an intimate drink. Highly recommend trying the okonomiyaki and wings.
Decent bar; I will come here if I am in this area; the miso chicken taste like 咕咾肉
A minimalist ambiance coupled with great cocktails, very japanese aesthetics. My cocktail (with matcha) was amazing and refreshing. Unfortunately the kitchen was closed around 9.30pm so we did not have a chance to try any food. But will be back. The bartender was super nice and fun.
Cocktails are absolutely delectable. Bartenders are true mixologists, very friendly and always smiling. Japanese bar food is different and delicious.
Putting aside the amazing varieties of cocktails, the best part of the bar is the bartender and the staffs. All of them were so friendly. Would definitely come again!
The wings are worth the hype albeit expensive. Nice bar overall but a little pricey for a go-to
Japanese-style bar. Staff were professional, cocktail was good, so did the food. Tbh not like must-visit but worth to try. Highly recommend okonomiyaki.
This place is super underwhelming… also the servers / employees have a lot of attitude for no reason…? E.g. we were deciding whether to sit inside or outside and the waitress kept repeating “YOU CANNOT MOVE BACK IN ONCE YOU DECIDE TO SIT OUT HERE.” I mean… okay, I’m not deaf. Also… please…chill.Their whole attitude and treatment was that of an establishment that thinks they’re the talk of the town. For the record, I’ve been to lots (almost all) of the so called hip speakeasies/bars in town ranging from death & co, attaboy, katana kitten, La Knoxe, patent pending, angel’s share, little branch, thyme bar, 29b—list goes on and you get the point—, but this one had the most underwhelming drinks by far made worse by their condescending attitude…We had the Sakura Martini and cucumber apple fizz. Drinks were pretty standard and a bit boring imo… so much that we moved to Double Chicken Please after the second drink. Maybe my disappointment was greater because I had high hopes. *shrugs*
We went for a quick bite and some cocktails. Overall the place was very chic and so were the staff.
Nice cozy intimate spot, really loved the ambiance. The Hot Toddy was a little bit sweet for me, but a nice variation. Wish there were a bit more options for snacks
Great drink experience, highly recommended. Bartender a master of her craft!
Excellent cocktails, have gotten from the menu as well as bartenders choice. Probably the best food Ive had at a bar, delicious okonimiyaki, gobo fries, and raw octopus.
The drinks are delicious, relaxed but trendy vibe and the vegetarian okonomiyaki is one of the best I’ve ever tasted
Slightly overpriced cocktail bar (understandable for the area, I guess) --- dont even bother ordering beers (definitely overpriced). Not the type of bar that you really hang (tight space, and the bartender does not encourage social interactions).
Goto is my go to. You’ll find me here most Sundays. Mat the bartender completes the experience. Don’t sleep on the celery.
Amazing atmosphere, service, and drinks!Bonus that they serve Orion beer, I can never find it anywhere! We also did not order the wings but will be getting them when we come back.
Great drinks, snacks with vibes! I went on Sunday night so it wasn’t super crowded which I loved. They have been playing good music but it doesn’t bother the conversation. I will definitely come back. Their miso flavored chicken wings were my favorite.
One of my favorite bars and I love their bar snacks. Highly recommend the miso wings and savory cabbage dish
Small bar with a speakeasy vibe, excellent cocktails, and delicious food.
A quiet, chic Japanese bar. Good drinks, but kind of expensive. A good place for a date or Saturday night drinks where you prefer to hear each other talk.
Service was rough even though it was empty; food was good and drinks were good.
Despite having a good selection of japanese whiskies I wouldnt come back.Wasnt the best cocktails Ive tried and the staff at the bar are not friendly. Not worth the wait.
I came here with high expectations but I was disappointed, I was here a couple of years ago and it was great but we just had a couple of cocktails and they tasted like plain sodas, overly sweet and nothing special about them. Not worth it.
One of the most underrated bars around, and even has excellent small plates to satisfy the drunk gourmet munchies. Please dont go unless youre awesome - I live in perpetual fear of this bar being ruined by the crowds. Kthxbyeeee.....
The bartenders are great and the interior looks very nice but they played rockabilly and classic rock the whole time and it killed the vibe for me. Sorry!
Had the opportunity to visit on a quiet night. Really nice vibe... probably for a slightly older crowd. Cocktails were Japanese inspired, delicious and creative. See cocktail served in wooden box. The wings were the best I’ve ever had, and you need to try the celery!
Delicious cocktails and small plates (loved the spicy miso wings). The staff are friendly and the atmosphere relaxed and fun.
Amazing cocktails, huge Japanese whiskey selection, great food. Definitely a must try cocktails bar.
Drinks were good. Tried the pickled veggies and they were delicious.
Excellent atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff, and a truly inspired and delicious drinks menu! Highly recommend, especially the Kyoto Old Fashioned
For a bar of your prestige and stature, I would assume hospitality is a cornerstone of your program. It is not. I’m sorry your bartender seems to be having a bad year. Good luck out there.
Drinks were great but the bartenders were lackluster. Barely made any eye contact and I felt like a bother ordering a 2nd drink.
Great unique drinks, great service.
Went here for some Okonomiyaki and whisky on new years eve. Its a dimly lit place with good music, knowledgeable bartenders, and good offerings. If I lived in New York I would be in this bar all the time.
The best place for creative cocktails without the gaud
Drinks are great, but the apps are something else!!!
Interesting drink selection and good small plates. Love that they wont let folks in if there is no table space, so it doesn’t then into a mob scene.
Top bar with amazing cocktails!!! Wow!
Very interesting cocktail menu. I had one that came in a box :) they also serve a couple of food dishes - we really liked the miso wings, the cauliflower tots and the classic okinomyaki.
This place knows their cocktails. A giant selection of Japanese whiskeys. And, the food is amazing.
Great, creative drinks and very tasty snacks (okonomiyaki and miso wings). Cozy space, good service. When crowded, it can be painfully loud.
Very interesting cocktails, different than any bar Ive been to in NYC. A must try!
Nice place for drinks and dinnerExcellent and yummy okonomi yaki
Incredible drinks (very boozy, but with smooth and subtle flavors. The best combo!) and great staff!
Good cocktails but the grumpiest bar man I’ve ever seen. I’d expect better service since it’s “Japanese inspired”.
This place deserve 10 stars! Mario Batali and Michael Symon mention how good the Miso wings were at Bar GOTO on their show. My friend and I decided to give it a try, when we got to the restaurant we were not expecting it to be so small but we were seated by a very nice waitress We ordered the Miso wings and the waitress recommended the Okonomi-Yaki carnivore and she also recommend a drink for me that had melon, the drink was delicious and the food was kick ass good! The wings slid off the bone and melted in your mouth and the Okonomi-Yaki carnivore was delicious...I will be going back to try different things on Bar GOTO menu.
Diverse crowd with a selective menu and creative drinks! The Hojicha Milk Punch was excellent and service was friendly.
Loved this bar. Small space. But the drinks were so good and the bartenders were very helpful in explaining some drinks for us. If youre looking to have some great cocktails, go sit at the bar.
Excellent cocktails and a cozy place ✨
Kenta Goto (ex Pegu Club) offers cocktails & food with a Japanese spin at this contemporary izakaya.
Great spot for Japanese bites and great drinks !!
We went early in the evening so it was quiet and cozy in there. the pancakes were amazing. the server was very attentive!
Best non-traditional chicken wing in NYC. Very rich and tasty miso-glazed wings. Didn’t try anything else.
Came here on a Tuesday night with a couple of friends after dinner at the Musket Room. Enjoyed my Far East Side cocktail. First time there, but my friends have been there before. No wonder they wanted to go back! Great place. Next time Ill try some food.
Amazing service food and cocktails in a small casual setting. The celery is a must try! Just do it.
Excellent service. Didnt try any of the cocktails but I feel that was a mistake each one was well crafted and the food was wonderful. Highly recommend this place
Great small bar! Perfect hospitality from the ladies and barman Matt. Nice drinks & bar snacks! Recommended
Best bar for gin users. After discovering it, Ive been three times in a month!
Fantastic cocktails and sake. The martini, and ume fizz are 2 personal favorites. The celery snack is unbelievably tasty (I dont normally even like celery), and the wings are great too. The staff is super attentive, as well. Its small but we always manage to find a seat.
Really cool, intimate bar. Japanese themed, not overstated, simple design. Great drinks, great bar snacks.
Drinks look good on paper but fail to deliver unfortunately. Lacking that bit extra to take it over the top and the bar snacks were just ok too.
Will for sure be back. Cocktails in this city are expensive so they ought to be worth it. The drinks here are. Come for the really unique cocktails and stay for the chicken wings, they might be some of the best in the city.
Excellent Japanese cocktail bar. GREAT unique cocktails make by great unique bar staff.
Great cocktails and a friendly and knowledgeable staff. Order the chicken wings they are perfect.
Great cocktails, japon-inspired, and very well prepared. No need for booking but early arriving is recommended. Bar or table as you prefer.
Always love to come here, it’s probably my fourth time. Drinks are amazing, food is great too. It’s great for an intimate group of people to hang out!
Really cool place, fantastic cocktails, cant wait to try the okonomiyaki!
Great cocktails, Miso Wings are amazing 👏
I loved the red wine . They represent very thing very well. service are good . Every one enjoyed the live performance .
Fancy Japanese cocktails and fantastic finger food! A little pricey, but well worth it!
This is our favorite cocktail bar in NYC. The Far East Side is a new classic. Must order the celery.
Food and drinks were great, atmosphere was nice but the chairs and tables are a little small and very close together
Great cocktails. Food menu looks fantastic, will return for sure.
We went as a group of 3 and arrived around 10PM on a Saturday. Waited outside for about 30 minutes, but the bouncer let us in to use the bathroom before. We ordered the Hojicha Old Fashioned (not as tea forward as I wished), the Plum Boulevardier (very tasty, pretty strong), and the Matcha Soda. Hilariously, the Matcha was our favorite. Deliciously springtimey and grassy. Expensive but not outlandishly so. In the scope of all the great bars of New York, though, it wasnt the most memorable or the most fun/delicious/insert adjective here. It was a good time but most likely wont be returning.
Lethal strength cocktails, I managed 3. Go. Book VERY early to get a seat and avoid the cold queue.
Great cocktails. Try the sake martini! Service and staff was stellar!
The best bar in town for me - great drinks, perfectly prepared and amazing barfood! Kenta is the man!
While the food (miso wings) and drinks were good, the service was a little lackluster.
Cool Japanese style bar with unique hand crafted drinks - try the Umami Mary or the Matcha Dream. Not too crowded with bar and table seating
Exelent drinks and food
Veyr nice cocktail selection. Intimate. Tasty food. Nice place to meet with close friends.
Tight menu! Food was good and the drinks even better! Get those wings!
Great cocktails along with a nice collection of tasty small bites.
Great cocktails and the miso wings were awesome.
Some of the best food and drinks in NYC. Speedy and dutiful service.
Amazing cocktails! We had so many amaro highballs.
Great cocktails.
Awesome every time.
Very very yummy cocktails. I recommend the one with shisho!
The place was packed and Im lucky to have gotten a table on such short notice because I saw some people cringing by the bar right beside the musicians.
I stopped in on a Sunday night and was seated right away, but it’s a small space so larger groups might have a small wait. The Sakura Martini is perfect. Light, clean, not too sweet. The wings are almost more flavorful than I knew what to do with! Delicious and a great pairing with the martini.Expect amazing food and drinks, nice atmosphere, and service that is efficient and friendly but not necessarily warm.
Really intimate cocktail bar, delicious cocktails, bartenders know what theyre doing 👏
Great food, chicken wings, celery. Love the drinks very nice people
The space is very tight but makes for a more intimate experience. Spent some time watching the bartender craft the drinks while waiting and you can tell they were made thoughtfully from start to finish. I got the Sakura Martini and my partner got the Melon Ball. Both were delicious and also beautiful drinks.
Bar goto. The bar you need to go to. Do it. Go to it.
Love this place. It’s probably my favourite bar in nyc. I’m a tourist so last time I was here was about 5 years ago. This time around felt a little off, bar is always great but didn’t feel as welcoming, don’t get me wrong the girls are nice but nothing compared to the warm, home like vibe I remember. Still a no brainer if you happen to be in the area.
Really cute small bar with great small plates (had the veggie pancake and chips with dip) - cocktails are amazing here!
Small but well laid out bar. Pegu Club guts with a Japanese twist.
Amazing services
Food is good, but beware of seating at the standing tables. Staff will drop you off there and say to you that youll get a table, and then go ahead to seat parties behind you in line on open tables to keep their business moving. Also whiskey upcharged to a surprising degree.
Being kicked out after eating and drinking because there is other people waiting. Just the worst experience but probably linked to this NYC idea of just more money. Don’t go there, they just don’t care about youJust awful.
Absolutly the best bar in New York, outstanding bartender (Matt)
Great cocktails, fun atmosphere. Whats not to like?
Came here on a Friday night around 730, and managed to get squeezed in at the bar after a short but reasonable wait. The cocktails were solid, with some unique twists on the classics (eg the hojicha old fashioned). The energy in the place was great, and the food was a pleasant surprise, tho the menu is limited.Come for: some good cocktails in a compact, energetic settingWatch out: its a new york bar on the Les, but its still a pretty tight squeeze; no reservations
Cocktails are fantastic. Tried 4 between me and a friend, and they all rocked. Could’ve tried every single one on the menu. Not too busy before 9, then gets more busy with a younger LES going-out crowd. Outdoor seating is pretty scrappy, probably better in warmer weather. Food menu is limited, more bar snacks than a meal.
Okonomi is the awesomest thing ever. So are the drinks.
Haven’t been in years but still think about those miso glazed wings (and I hate miso) often. Small spot with good cocktails to match. Highly recommend
One of the most amazing bar that i have ever been, the cocktails is soooo good!!!! Loved it!! Kamquat whiskey sours is fire!! If you’re whiskey person you definitely should try it, and the server and bartender is so friendly, 💯 % recommended
Super yummy wings and cocktails. Highly recommended.
Great drinks, very good bar food
Amazing cocktails, great bartender and server, food could improve but the ambiance makes this experience a solid 5 star.
Honestly one of the best cocktail experiences Ive ever had (out of many). Surprised by the creativity and craft that went into each drink. Not your average place. Top notch. Also the food is tasty. I would definitely return. Please come to LA!
Drinks seem cheap and quickly made without details
Attention to detail , great hospitality and encyclopedic knowledge of spirits . Ask for Matt on Sunday nights !!
Excellent japanese snack food and lovely drinks!
Paradaisu and miso wings= best combo ever!
No signage out front. Phenomenal cocktails and bar staff.
Five star for the drinks and food. Ten stars for Kitty and Raphael!!!!!! Kitty explained every drink with such literary beauty. The drinks were art. The food was sooooo delicious. We finished everything. My friends and I had such a lovely time— we can’t wait to be back.
It is a small place that has more of a bar-feel than a restaurant. The food menu is pretty limited and small. But the drinks are good. Friendly servers and peaceful atmosphere. I went on a Friday and it started getting busy around 6:30
Very unique and tasty cocktails. Food was a wonderful and unique suprise.Small, Cozy and trendy space so get there early! This would be a 4-5 star review but the server had a bad attitude that rubbed the whole party the wrong way. As a former server I rarely am critical of servers but the place just opened so no reason to be grumpy 😉
The decor and ambiance of this spot is clean, beautiful and Japanese inspired. The cocktails are all delicate and masterfully made. The wings are on my top 3 all time. The vibe is where it’s at. Go.
Well thought out cocktails. With the Japanese twist, the ingredients are more unusual than you get in most places and the result is a really well balanced tasting drink with interesting flavours. Its rare we get three rounds/ six completely different cocktails that were equally happy with and would recommend every single one of them.
Love you place, maybe will come back
