Aroma has the best grilled chicken sandwich around NYU campus. However the last two time I was there they either forgot my order or delayed it for some reason. Their food is on the pricey end. This definitely did not make me happy about the wait or the lost food. Still I like the fact their bread are all fresh and made through out the day. I probably wouldnt be going back soon or find another aroma branch.

I am so thankful for Aroma being in NYC. I visited on a cool evening, a bit hungry and had a WONDERFUL turkey sandwich. I cant tell you what was so amazing, perhaps it was the crusty bread? My friend had the halumi sandwich and was raving so much, I insisted on a bite and whoa, if I knew to order that, I would have devoured my meal in a MINUTE!!Its counter-service with seating that can be limited depending on the time of the day, like any cafe, but we were able to find a seat easily to take our time with our meals.Oh, I also tried the hot chocolate and again, I have no idea what makes it so special, but it was creamy, super chocolatey but not heavy at all. Oh, Aroma, you get me.

A sophisticated white and black decor welcomes you to friendly service and superior drip coffee. The coffee was served in a ceramic mug with a complimentary chocolate. Now that is sweet! There is a comfortable dining area with tables for sharing a meal with friends, but the real joy is picking a prime spot amongst the bar stools that line the windows; perfect for people-watching. (Wear something fabulous, you know theyll be looking back, wishing they were you.)

Decent place to go for a salad or sandwiches. Bread is usually not properly baked. You need to insist to toast it, but even then for me is still too soft and not properly baked. Remember that its more difficult to digest bread non properly cooked. Limited selection of soups. Good espresso coffee.

Absolutely superb, best coffee chain in the city. Everything here is excellent, good coffee and freshly prepared sandwiches, salads and pastries. Free Wi-Fi of course. Restrooms are to the right side from the entrance. Be sure to try out the Halumi sandwich, its ace!

The food is quite excellent and I have been here a few times. This time it seemed like everything was taking too long. I had to wait about 22 min till I got all of the food. I think a girl before me was waiting 30 min for hers

Aroma is always a reliable place to stop in for a drink or a quick meal. The frozen hot chocolate is a personal favorite of mine in the summer, and the hot chocolate in the winter is a real treat (its made from real milk with chocolate melted in). The food is freshly made (unlike most coffee shops) and is both healthy and tasty. Unlike the other Aromas, the eating area is off to the side, so you dont have to deal with the door constantly opening and closing or people walking by on the way to the counter.

Service is slow and inconsistent. I waited nearly 20 minutes when even those that had ordered after I did received their orders. When I received my order, not only did they forget to include napkins (for my takeout order), but I was not given the complimentary chocolate that is given with all orders. They definitely still had stock. My food tasted a bit on the salty side and my iced chocolate drink did not taste the same as before. I no longer visit this location. There are better alternatives in SoHo for the price.

As far as coffee house chains go, this one is the best! The coffee is of great quality (better than Starbucks in my opinion), the food is delicious and the atmosphere is relaxed. From bakery to healthy mediterranean salads, Aroma is great for breakfast, lunch or any afternoon break. Each Aroma usually has free wifi which makes the experience even better. Highly recommended is the hot chocolate with real melted chocolate!

Meh, wasnt a memorable experience food wise. But I got my credit card swiped here. Watch the register girl and pay attention to your cc statements. First and last time I stop by for a quick bite to eat, nearly cost me 2k at the Nautica outlet.

Israel is associated with countless political issues, hummus and more. When I think of Israel, I think of coffee shop called Aroma. Aroma is the Starbucks of Israel in terms of ubiquity, although not atmosphere. At locations around the Starbucks-free nation, drinks are served in ceramic cups, bread for gourmet sandwiches is baked on site and every order comes with a sweet piece of milk chocolate. In 2007, I visited Israel and subsequently Aroma daily. Believe it or not, it is easy to get into a routine of starting one’s day with delicious coffee, a croissant and a little bit of chocolate. I even visited Aroma after climbing Masada, a mountain in Northern Israel and the site of an ancient Israeli struggle. Israel’s desert climate meant we began our hike around sunrise, and were hungry for lunch around 10:30 am. Aroma was there, thankfully. On the plane back to America, as I ate an Aroma sandwich I hoped I would find my way back to the Holy Land and my beloved Aroma.Back in New York, Google came to the rescue. A quick search revealed Aroma’s first US location in Soho had just opened, a quick subway ride from my house. A few weeks later, jet-lag having been conquered, my travel companion and I set off on a mission. We arrived at the storefront, at the corner of Greene Street and West Houston and felt at home. The familiar red and black logo was no longer executed in Hebrew but the fresh bread in the display case, along with the large population of Israeli expats and small pieces of chocolate on every plate assured us that we would not be disappointed. We ordered iced Aromas, their signature blended iced coffee drink (they have a diet version made with skim milk) and two types of sandwiches (you can order a half or a whole) to sample both. I recommend the mozzarella and the chicken Caesar salad, which I have since sampled. Aroma’s bread is fresh and fluffy and their salad dressings are delicious. During winter, their soup is hearty and filling. The stores layout of long tables and a bar encourage lingering and it’s a great place to rest and refuel after a long day of shopping. My first visit to America’s Aroma left me thoroughly impressed. Since then, I’ve dragged countless friends to Aroma for a snack or coffee after a day of shopping in Soho. It’s steps from the subway and a true respite. Aroma was the site of a mini family reunion prior to my sister’s Bat Mitzvah in which my family monopolized half the tables and was entirely too loud, in keeping with Israeli traditions.During Thanksgiving break, I visited the Upper West Side Aroma (on 72nd Street and Amsterdam) for the first time with a friend who I previously took to the Soho location after her trip to Israel. The uptown location not only featured the great food we know and love, but a wine bar, beers on tap and a rooftop patio, as well as seating upstairs. Even a glass of wine comes with their signature chocolate. We dug into a mozzarella sandwich on multi-grain bread, along with cappuccinos and iced Aromas. People spoke English rather than Hebrew and we wore jeans and jackets rather than shorts and t-shirts. New York City is far from the Middle East, but sitting in Aroma, the distance is bridged, even if its only for one bite.--Abigail Koffler
