Charlotte Cafe

So today my friend and I were looking for a place to relax and where we could grab some coffee, sit down, and have a chat. We happened upon Charlottes Cafe, my friend got a double espresso, and I got Brownie Truffle Bar (warmed up to perfection) and Sweet Chai Latte Vanilla ( it was so milky and delicious).I must compliment the Barista Angel for doing an amazing job, I will definitely visit this cafe again.

This a very popular cafe spot located just across from the 96th Street subway station on Broadway. Great place for meetings with friends or colleagues, or a date with your favorite besties. Or whatever the occasion brings you to relax, study, read a book, or just chill out from the day. Hours of operation are limited during the week, till 6pm. A decent bevy of baked goods, but not extensively huge but has some other smaller cafe options for snacking, or munching, and items for lunches as well. However, their coffee drinks are definitely terrific and moderately priced for the location.

I’ve lived in the neighborhood for 17 years and the Charlotte cafe has the best coffee on the Upper Westside! They also have the most delicious pastries, nicest staff and great ambiance! It’s a plus that they know their customers by name!! I highly recommend a trip to the Charlotte Cafe!

I purchase the ham and cheese croissant, but the ingredients were not baked in it - the croissant was cut in half and the ham and cheese were laid in it. Otherwise, it was very good.

Drini, Daisy, Dean are so very kind. I am never disappointed to see them behind the counter serving as I always know that I will be greeted with a smile, a kind word, and the best quality service in New York!

Great atmosphere, coffee is good, all got ruined after my toddler daughter dropped almost uneaten muffin on the floor accidentally.I was hoping the barista would offer a replacement muffin, instead she ended up charging me for another one. Although the barista lacked compassion at the moment, the owner the next day approached us and explained her side of the story, which made sense.Owners made every possible attempt to make things right, I appreciate the effort and honesty in regards to what happened. Highly recommend this coffee shop, especially for their integrity and willingness to go an extra mile to make things right.

Overall five stars because the cafe latte is so flavorful and creamy - and hot! These baristas are experts! The service is quick and friendly. The plain croissants are heated in an oven, not microwave and they’re pretty good. Rest of the food is mediocre, many of the baked goods are unappetizing and could be considerably leveled up. If they brought in Paris Baguette food this place would be incredible.Good luck finding a table as people park there for so many hours, it’s nearly impossible.Still, when I want excellent coffee, with so many other options available I still gravitate to Charlotte.

This is a true neighborhood gem! Great ambiance, friendly staff, delicious coffee and pastries. I stop by almost daily and cant recommended this coffee shop enough, whether you are looking for a spot to meet friends or to grab a coffee while getting some work done

I come here since… it opened! What can I say that is not already in the other reviews? Everything is just great, food, coffee, service, variety… It is an awesome place for a break, a full lunch is not possible, but I had a fast one while working (they have some salads). It is a little bit crowded during pick hrs (before 9AM mostly) but they are very efficient, and they never lose their kindness, even under the biggest stress. So, I am just happy they are having so much success 👍👍👍

I love this cafe!! I am so happy to have discovered it. It has a very peaceful and humble atmosphere, while still being nice and pleasant.There is a lot of seating and the coffee tastes amazing! They have an abundance of pastries. There is even a bathroom.If you are looking for a coffee shop with space (a rare find on the UWS) come here!

A true neighborhood gem. The food and coffee are delish (I buy beans here too), the staff is wonderful and kind, and the ambiance makes it a really pleasant place to hang out, catch up, or read. My friend and I literally took graduation photos here because Charlotte got us through grad school. Love you Charlotte! Everyone should go spend a gazillion dollars here.

This is my favorite coffee shop in NYC hands down. I do not make statements like this lightly . All of their drinks seem to be made with intention and handiwork not often found in many coffee shops, and their cold brew is simply the best I’ve tasted in the city so far. Also gives a nice punch, like a coffee should. The prices are EXCELLENT for the quality .I’ve been a coming here almost daily for about 2 years now and will continue to do so!ALL the staff are lovely and will make your day just that bit better!Keep it up !-Elai

Nothing beats Charlotte Cafe in New York. First of all, the quality of their products is always excellent: cappuccino and brioche are the best in NYC. However, what I love the most is that it’s a family-run business, where the owners treat customers as if they were part of their family. Five stars aren’t enough to describe how amazing Charlotte Cafe is. It’s simply the best.

Ive been frequenting the 95th & Broadway location every Monday & Thursday for the past couple of weeks. I will honestly say that I love this place every time I go there!I love the atmosphere and music for such a small cafe, the workers were always friendly and chatty (which is coming from a introverted person like myself), and the food/coffee there is worth the price. I love their bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches and cinnamon coffee!5/5, would definitely recommend!

This is a gorgeous little cafe. Freshly made pastries and good coffee. Right next to 96th station but shielded from the road so it’s got a lovely atmosphere. And amazing service!

What really distinguishes this cafe from like 99% of the others is the level of service. these are highly skilled service people and my guess is they are the owners as well. Charlotte is a cafe which is definitely feels suitable for a date.

Love this coffee place, excellent quality of coffee and pastries. Must try their cookies, all kinds, none of them would go wrong. Staff super nice, and the price is very reasonable, especially these days every coffee place costs a fortune.

Based on current reviews, I had really high hopes for the coffee at this place. Unfortunately, the coffee was at best 4 stars.The espresso was a bit overextracted. It lacked body and had an astringent aftertaste. The milk lacked microfoam and resulted in a latte with inconsistent texture, detracting from the overall creaminess and enjoyment of the drink.

This is by far the best coffee shop within a 10 block radius of 95th. Street. The family that owns and operates Charlotte Cafe, quickly become friends and always serve with grace and a smile. The coffee is delicious and unfussy the way I like it. I enjoy the efficiency on display as they do multiple tasks simultaneously and quickly. Vinnie and Ina are special and I enjoy playing a small part in their American dream.

Best place to study in the upper west side. There is plenty of table space and the cappuccinos are always pretty. It is a little more expensive than the other coffee shops in the area but definitely worth it for the extensive single seating options and quick wifi!

I like going to cafes to study, when I saw the sign that I was “allowed” only 90 minutes at the table I was pretty shocked. Who times people for staying at a cafe? Especially when you purchased something. The matcha I ordered was pretty bad as well. I came here once and never again.

This is a really great cafe on the Upper West Side. The coffee is good and they have a lot of space to work or hang out. They have free wifi which is very convenient and indoor and outdoor seating available. I liked that their large cup of coffees provided a refill and I also really enjoyed the music that they played. Would recommend if you’re looking to get some work done or even hang out with a friend and I definitely will be returning.

Best chai latte I’ve ever had!

The customer service here is amazing! I enjoyed the short time I was here very much because the woman working here helped me with my coffee and plate to the outdoor seating. My hands were a bit full because I was with ny daughter and I didn’t want to eat indoors since there was a lot of people already inside.Not only is it friendly here but they are clean.I also want to add that their customer service is so sweet . I cannot emphasize that more. I would be returning more often ..

Charlotte Cafe is my go to location for great coffee and food paired with the most friendly and dedicated staff. They always greet me like a friend, not just a customer and I see they do the same with all visitors even those that are not a ”regular“ like me.The owner clearly trains his staff to work efficiently but always with a smile and a willingness to help out in any way possible.Plus the layout of the cafe is great. A combination of different seating options that accommodate friends sitting down for a chat or students and others looking for a good place to get some work done outside their home.I can’t recommend Charlotte Cafe strongly enough. If you get the chance I recommend that you visit and learn for yourself why it’s a neighborhood staple.

The staff is amazing. The place is clean and desserts and drinks are delicious. The barista makes an excellent chai. I wish the food (sandwiches and salads) were better and not premade.

Upper west side has a shortage of really good coffee places. This is a cut above Starbucks and they do a wet foam on espresso & milk drinks, which I prefer. The beans however are a little over roasted for my taste, not like Blue Bottle, etc.

Wonderful spot. Lots of spots inside and outside to sit and work or chat. Good coffee. Glassware used for here drinks. Yummy pastries and decent amount of food options. Vinz was a sweetie pie at the register.

Charlottes is one of those places that used to exist in NYC. Where the staff is kind, the coffee and pastries are great and when you go in you want to sit down and stay awhile it’s so welcoming.

I really enjoy this coffee spot; the staff are very welcoming and the coffee excellent (especially as they offer actual mugs :)Considering the ambience and wonderful service I find the countless signs in all caps, with black and red lettering, distracting and annoying. Surely a few small signs that fit the decor would get the point across. As it is, I feel that I’m being berated as I enjoy my morning coffee!

Finally an espresso place that knows what a cortado is, few and far between in the US. Great coffee and a nice light fresh Alfajores cookie to go with it. Friendly staff.

Instead of going to Starbucks, take yourself to the Charlotte Café. The best cappuccino and croissant in the Upper West Side. Quick and friendly service. Very reasonable prices for Manhattan. It can get very busy so be flexible for a take out during rush hours.

Excellent place. Sure, they might not have a thousand different kinds of beverages, but they have a lot, and what they have is high quality. Also: REUSABLE CUPS if youre dining in! Not the dumb wasteful paper ones (which they do have for takeout). And the outdoor seating is great.

I feel blessed to have found this hidden gem. I often go to Charlotte Cafe to study or chat with friends. The workers here are *always* incredibly friendly, even when the shop gets busy. Im glad to have found a little slice of home away from home among these long, busy city blocks. The atmosphere is comfortable, the service is truly great, and the coffee is delicious and reasonably priced.

Love this place. Its always crowded but can always manage a seat or two! Perfect for working/wifi sitch which can be tough to find especially on weekends. ORDER SOMETHING if youre gonna use the space! And ORDER MORE if youre gonna sit around for hours! Its the decent thing to do for the business and for your neighbors.

Cafe Charlotte is such a pleasant neighborhood spot. The best coffee on the UWS. The staff is always so pleasant, the baked goods are delicious and the savory’s are very satisfying. It’s the only reason to venture onto Broadway.

In New York City, I drank coffee at many coffee shops.Charlotte Cafes coffee is my favorite.

Very nice establishment. Geared toward spending some time, even has a table with outlets to charge devices. But there are prominent signs advising that 90 minutes is expected maximum time unless another purchase is made. Staff was friendly and the service was prompt. Food choices are limited but good for snacking. Plenty of pastry options available. One unusual feature is that there is a bin positioned toward customers for bussing your table yourself. I rather like this. It makes the experience more homey.

Tasty albeit very milky ice latte with lavender syrup .. but only one shot of espresso? Really needed two and was certainly not inexpensive. Barista and cashier were very friendly which is a nice change of pace with so many front line customer service folks these days.

This coffee shop is the closest one to our apartment and we are so lucky to be close by. The coffee is amazing and the baristas are incredibly friendly. They know our baby by name and our orders! (And our names too, of course!) the pastries are amazing. I highly recommend the pistachio croissant! They are open early too, which is great.

Food was good, wi-fi was strong, plenty of seating and the Baristas Aida and Desi were both charming, accommodating, and seemed very happy to be working here!

This is such a great spot. Very European bistro vibes. My one note is, I wish they hd some heaters outside so outside seating was available during colder days. It gets often busy inside and it would be awesome to have that option. Being from the neighborhood, this place is a staple and I would 100% come more often if there was heaters. Also, they do have food! Some avo toasts in the fridge, a Brioche sandwich and a bunch of great pastries and cookies. So this can definitely be a morning spot for working, reading a book, chats with friends.

Charlotte cafe is the best cafe hands down. They make strong delicious matcha, and now I can’t have it anywhere else, but there. Everyone who works there is incredibly kind and hardworking, and the space is fantastic. Their baked goods are also very good. Thank you Charlotte cafe for being my second home.

Charlotte Cafe (formerly Filicor (?)) a lovely neighborhood spot with a good selection of food and drink. Its a great alternative to that other coffee place (which shall remain nameless) with its uniform, corporate selection of items. The staff is always welcoming and attentive, also in contrast to the other place where I often have to flag down someone because theyre busy doing other things...

A very charming cafe, where I got the chance to be served by the sweet Desy. I went there to work, I was definitely not the only one with the same idea; thankfully the space is not devoid of sitting places. I definitely recommend

Nestled in a quaint corner, this café exudes a welcoming vibe from the moment you step inside. The staffs are welcoming. If you got lucky, meet the barista extraordinaire, Aida.The ambiance is cozy, with soft lighting and comfortable seating. The multigrain croissants are flaky, buttery perfection that pairs wonderfully with a freshly brewed cup of coffee. Its a destination worth savoring.

Service is always excellent- they always serve a glass of sparkling water with an espresso drink; the only problem is that they do not make enough batches of plain croissants- therefore if I get there after 1:30 pm depending on sales there might not be any plain ones- so I have to opt for alternatives,

I love this place! Mercifully, they have covered outdoor seating so my dog, Mocha, can join me & my husband for coffee & pastries. They also have sandwiches, salads & tarts. The brownie was moist & dark chocolate! Best of all, if you’re dining there, you’re served with silverware, China & glasses instead of disposable plastic! Please help out small businesses! They’re what make neighborhoods unique!

I am giving 5 stars for the coffee, and service. The coffee was perfect, I had flat white, and my husband had americano. Both delicious, with slight nutty flavor. We also tried hazelnut cake and crossaints (almond and chocolate). Cake was good, but nothing special, the same with croissants.

Great food and coffee. I had the iced matcha latte and a hazelnut cake. Both were great. The matcha was less sweet than some other places and I actually loved that. The staff were very sweet and conversational. Great place to hang out with a friend or do work.

Cafe Charlotte is a great addition to the west side neighborhood,they stay focused on coffee and a great selection of simple but delicious items for breakfast or snack. The help is very friendly and the cafe is clean, a great way to start with day.

Outstanding service, friendly stuff. They are responsible for my daily caffeine intake. I would recommend the place for both locals as well as visitors looking for a great coffee with nice atmosphere in the heart of UWS.

Great place. Laptop friendly. The music can be a bit loud and annoying, but whatever.This place is good enough, but really I should leave a crappy review, so people go somewhere else. And thats the best endorsement you can get from a New Yorker.

Delicious pastries with bold espresso and coffee. One of the best cold brew coffees I have had in the city and the fresh croissants are perfection.

Very nice café with very friendly service. We felt very comfortable as German tourists. We were pleased that the cappuccino was served in a real cup and not in a paper cup, as is usual in New York.

First of all, the food and coffee are great, finally an authentic Italian cafè! So many delicious pastries to chose from and the espresso is the best I’ve had in the city. I love to go there to chat with a friend or to work, the atmosphere is chill and inviting, the staff is always so friendly and attentive. Definitely my favorite cafe in the whole upper west side.

This is the closest to a true Italian cafe I could find in all of NYC. They even give you a tiny glass of club soda next to your espresso so you can cleanse your palate after drinking. Also their prices are SO reasonable for NYC (the prices aren’t Italian lol)! The manager is super nice as well. I ordered a bad cup of decaf iced coffee once, and he made a new iced decaf espresso for me. Even said I can make it double shot if I wanted. Just a super friendly, welcoming place with good authentic Italian coffee. It’s my favorite cafe in NYC!

I love Charlotte Café, or what used to be Filicori. The coffee’s hot and delicious, and the staff are cool and kind. My favorite neighborhood cup!

The Little Coffee Shop in the corner. Went in for an Iced Espresso Blend once and have been hooked since.I was able to sit at their outside seating area on a beautiful day and enjoyed my meal. Coffee and pasties yummy! Staff is very friendly and the plus the sweet girl behind the counter remembers my name. Which adds to my experience ⭐️

Lovely neighborhood coffee shop. The tea comes in a pot with a little mug, very pleasant and presentable!! I didn’t give high expectations for the cookie in the jar, but it’s actually sooo goood!! They are crisp and not too sweet, great to taste with my tea.

Went here a few days ago to get coffee with my girlfriend as we were leaving the gym.Love this place but what really stood out to me was the great customer service from Jay. He was friendly and even suggested somethings we may like to try as it was our first time being there. He held polite and brief conversation which made the experience much more comfortable. Highly recommended for any and everyone.

This place is always full! For good reason too. If youre wanting to get some laptop work done I definitely recommend. Just dont be surprised if you have to wait for a seat. Coffee is splendid as well.
