Beware of mouldy food and check your bill!!! I had a Burger and the tomato was moldy (check the picture) When I talk to the waitress, he said, that isn’t that bad. At the end I had to pay the full price and they tried to fool me with the bill. Never eat and drink at this location!!!
This little Irish pub is one of a few in midtown, along with Blaggards, Westbury, Mulligans, etc. Its snuggled close to the bustling Liberty, but a small walk away from the train station. They offer an excellent deal on happy hour, and also lunch. Their lunch comes with a free drink, which can be beer, sangria, and so on. Even if not the lunch specials, their prices are reasonable for this area considering it is a tourist hub. Its not totally gouging your wallet, which is saying a lot.The staff are a bit sparse at times and they did get an order for our table wrong once. But the food is very good and they have a fun amount of sport betting events every year. In fact, their televisions pretty much play only sports all the time. I recommend their chicken sandwich. Its overall a great place to have lunch in the area if youre not looking for something too out of the ordinary.
Mazum is the best! His service was amazing, and we really appreciate how he made sure we had a great time. Casual and pleasant spot to enjoy drinks with great deals in Midtown. Highly recommend!
Nothing good to say about the bartenders. Went to this bar several nights in a row and EACH time the service was subpar. Bartenders were rude and obnoxious - would def pass on this place if you are looking for a bar to kill some time or have a beer
Great little pub if you are after that traditional no frills, good staff, good foods and good drinks. It’s a home away from home local.Definitely worth a visit.
Local hangout place. Typical pub with many sports TV. We came here just because it’s centrally located for meeting people after work. Happy hour also helps for regular. Don’t expect too much for cocktails. Beer or wine is ok. Food is decent and space is large enough to accommodate big group.
Visiting NYC and found this bar to watch the Dallas Cowboys game at. Packed wall to wall with Cowboys fans, electric energy and a great time. Will be back when for more games in the future!
Came here for dinner and a drink, the place had a great atmosphere and all the staff is very friendly and helpful would definitely recommend if you’re in the area
This is a great restaurant, the atmosphere was very welcoming, this place reminds me of a little Pub in Ireland & it seemed like all the staff had the Ireland brogue, which I just love.My husband & I both had the shepherds pie & I highly recommend this dish because it was delicious. Such a wonderful little place in a very bustling city
Nice Irish pub. Good food
The staff are so nice! I finished a prosthetic appointment early and walked down the street for a quick bite. They were affordable, fully accessible and the staff is very friendly. Definitely come for a beer, a burger and a chat w/ their nice Irish waiter John. There’s plenty of accessible outdoor seating, most of which is wheelchair accessible as well. I didn’t go deep into the place and didn’t use the restroom but I’ll definitely do that next time and let you know how it is.
Very good place, me and my friends go there around 3:00 am. The bar tender is really nice and the Irish style shots are super good. Definitely worth a visit. I love the decoration as well, very clean and tidy.
Arrived at my hotel at 23:30 last night and stumbled upon this Irish Pub while walking the city a bit. Enjoyed a Brooklyn Lager and will be back today.
Just right for a midtown Irish pub right down to the bat tender with an Irish accent.
Perfect spot for early dinner before a concert at the Garden. Staff is amazing. We will be back!
A true Irish Pub. We were walking by at lunch time and decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed, it was like being in Dublin. The food was authentic and delicious, the service very good and fast but the best was...they had, of course, Guinness beer! Highly recommended! The place is an old house with several floors and rooms. Every corner is a surprise.
The shepards pie was phenomenal. Easily the best I had near times square! Conner was a amazing and friendly bartender and the bar has a warm and cozy atmosphere. Just what youre looking for in an Irish pub.
It is more or less cheap for this part of the city. And you notice that in the food. Not being bad at all, the steak I had was a bit tasteless and not done as ordered. In any case, its good for the price and you get what you paid for.
We stopped for a couple of Forget Irish Stout, I had the chance to try them in Ireland and I can tell you the taste and texture were similar, totally recommended it, atmosphere was nice and prices were good.
Excellent Irish pub with a great tap selection and delicious food. Curried Chicken is outstanding.
Its a must experience pub. Staff are brilliant and super friendly
First time in New York and we decided to stop here for a couple of drinks and some food. Everything was awesome. I can’t remember the bartenders name, but he was great and the drinks were perfect and the food was delicious. Anytime I go back to New York, we will definitely be visiting this place again.
Great service, fast service, friendly staff, good atmosphere. Definitely worth checking out.
Food wasnt too bad but there was nothing saying fountain drinks refills were an additional $5. They comped it when we asked but Ive never been somewhere that charges like that.
What you want from an Irish bar, that welcoming atmosphere, great beer and first time eating at one but the food was also above expectations!________________🌏Weight Loss Motivation Blogger.⭐New Weight Loss Discovery Burns Belly Fat Like Crazy!Instagram👉 @slims_pro
I popped in for a quick bite as I was staying in the area. My mushroom burger was tasty and the staff was friendly. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming .
Mazum was an amazing bartender. He treated us with pure kindness and the service was absolutely amazing. Definitely will be coming back!
Really amazing place to watch sports. Food was awesome- drinks not so much.
Tips was include and minimum = 20%after asking for the bill without a tip and to choose the appropriate amount ourselves, we were asked “not to come here again”
The food was perfect and the staff was very friendly. There weren’t a lot of people so it wasn’t too loud.
Wonderful pub good food and a safe place to watch my Cowboys/gals play I love it. Friendly staff & good drinks! I would recommend this pub for sports and good food
Visiting from Utah, snagged a few drinks before our reservation at keens, the lady serving our drinks was fantastic, this was the first bar we walked into since coming into town. Thanks for the experience
Food was ok, cottage pie was nice. Nice cocktail. We enjoyed evening but were put off my $50 + dollars they added to our bill. Service was ok but was only place all holiday that added 20% to bill.
There are MANY TVs, so there really isnt a bad spot in the place for a view of any sporting event. Havent had food, but it looks good. Drink selection is decent and service is good.Drinks are a bit more pricey than other pubs, at least on event days.
We were pleasantly surprised by this little pub in very tourist heavy midtown. They had a table for our group of 7 within minutes. For starters we had the Bavarian Pretzel which was tasty, a tender plate of Calimari, and Beer Battered Mozzarella Sticks which the kids loved. For dinner the Shepherds Pie was a favorite and the burgers were cooked to order. The fish and chips were good. The chicken sandwich and chicken strips were very well received by our kids.Service was quick and super attentive. We would definitely go again.
Mazum was amazing. he was mazum in the beginning of the night, now he’s maxim. not too strong, not too sweet. maxim was amazing. must go to place.
It was an awesome bar, they were playing Living on a Prayer and Serving guiness. PERFECT night to finish my vacation. Mazum was awesome.
What a nice moment and what a waiter you are Mazum !!!! Thx you so much for this nice welcome !!
Great bar. Probably harsh on the 4/5 for food, because it was great for a pub. Not Michelin starred, but not charging for that. The bartender asked us to move down a seat to make room for an incoming couple. Answer would have always been yes, but he bought us a round as a thank you. Class act all around.
Come for mazum he’s amazing he’ll do take care of you.
Had a blast here. Lots of fun with a mix of New Yorkers and Expats. One of the bartenders is actually Irish! Hes a blast!
Great environment! Our server Mazul was absolutely amazing!! Will be coming back!
Cool chill pub in midtown with awesome staff
Had the wings and they were tasty and crispy! The drinks were delicious and strong. Muzum did awesome!
Brought my husband here about three weeks ago to watch the cowboys game! I was unaware of the wonderful club they had there for the past 14 years! The coordinator of the club was so warming and kind! My husband had never been around so many cowboys fans since we’re from the Boston area! It was a phenomenal experience and I’m excited to return and watch football!
Super chill!! On a Sunday afternoon for some darts and great drinks with Kaylem (the bartender)Such great vibes and atmosphere
Worst Irish bar I’ve ever been in, their website doesn’t doesn’t reflect their current orders either
We wanted a burger. Ended up with a great burger with avocado, fries and onion rings. Time there was pleasant and the bar was comfortable. Friendly tender. If I was into anything other than skateboarding, I would have enjoyed plenty of ball-involved games on many TVs.
Caleb was awesome tonight and made it a memorable experience for me and my friend group. 10/10 recommend.
Fantastic food, great vibes.Great location close to the Empire State Building.Walking distance from Port Authority.10/10
Mazum is great! we had such a great time and the drinks were fantastic. amazing vibes, amazing drinks, amazing service!
First of all, I want to let everyone know that this bar discriminates. I was with a group of friends and my partner. We were having some drinks when the owner of the bar came directly to my partner to let him know that he cant be with Bayern shirt because all the people were Real Madrid fans there in the bar and he threatened us to kick us out. We were not arguing with anyone. We were having a good time and even those fans as he was referring to were having nice conversations with us. The security was also threatening us and looking at us like we were looking for trouble. We never went to the bar with that intention and by being there and paying for the drinks, we are exercising our rights as a customer to be there (especially if we werent causing any issue to anyone). It was wrong from their part behaving as they did. I never give a bad review but this business deserve it 100%.
Great spot to hang out after a NYSN event. The chicken nachos with avocados really hit the spot.
Well presented Irish pub in New York city. Very clean and tidy. Great for a family meal.
Such a great bar to go to! Went to the top on the rooftop bar, such a cute view. Had the best chicken tenders I’ve ever had! Already planning a trip just to come back!
So, I stumbled upon The Playwright Irish Pub on a lazy Sunday night, and boy, was I pleasantly surprised! Despite it being the end of the weekend, the place was buzzing with life, definitely not your typical sleepy Sunday scene. The staff were super welcoming, adding to the already warm vibe of the place. And lets talk drinks – they were top-notch! From classics to creative concoctions, they had it all, and they were all delicious. Its the kind of spot where you can just kick back with your pals, enjoy some great drinks, and shoot the breeze. All in all, a solid choice for a laid-back hangout sesh. Cheers to The Playwright Irish Pub for a memorable evening, I would definitely visit again! 🍻
Mazum always provides amazing service and his staff are super attentive! On nights with football, soccer games, etc they always pass out free shots. My friends and I have been coming here for several years and we always enjoy ourselves!! We would recommend the Mozzarella sticks + vodka sauce pasta.
Nice atmosphere inside the bar. Bartender Kalum was very friendly and helpful with places to go and visit.
We were seated outside, our waiter came within a few minutes. Took our drink order, which came out pretty quick. He than took our food order. Again came out quickly but someone else brought us our food. We were going to order more drinks but not 1 person came back to check up on us. We were here for 45 minutes, ended up going inside to ask for our check. We would not have even tipped our waiter 10% due to never seeing him again, but this place automatically takes out 18% Very discouraged about this!!! I would recommend this place for the food and atmosphere. Just be cautious about the wait staff. For the prices they should at least come back to make sure all is ok!!!!
After the craziness of midtown during the holidays, we stopped by the Playwright for food and drinks. What an amazing find. The decorations were beautiful and the service was top notch. We ordered a bunch of appetizers, Playwright burger, and Fish n Chips. All dishes were great! We will definitely be stopping by this pub again soon.
Let’s go Mets
My friend and I had time to talk and it wasn’t too loud which was great! Loved the service and we were able to get our drinks quickly! Thank you Conor for your assistance after a long day at work! We had a nice time.
Lively, friendly good food at reasonable prices
2 for dinner and drinks on Sunday night. The food was delicious. The shady gratuity charge was not.Waiter came and took our order and then disappeared. A different person brought our food out. Our waiter didn’t come back to check on us until 30 minutes later, after we had already finished our food. He was not attentive and we had to order other drinks at the bar because he never came back. After another 30 minutes of waiting, he finally came around to give us our check. When we were checking out on the handheld POS machine, we noticed the total was much higher than anticipated, but he was rushing through the process and quickly presented the screen where it asks for a tip. After applying a tip he quickly selected “no receipt” and then he disappeared. The total just didn’t feel right based on the food and drinks we ordered, so we went to the bartender to get a printout of our receipt. We are surprised to see that a 20% gratuity add-on charge had been added to our bill without anyone informing us.We were never informed of an additional gratuity charge and there was no signage indicating if this was an existing restaurant policy. The waiter noticed us at the bar and came over, asking if there was a problem. We asked him about why the 20% gratuity charge was added and he started fumbling but couldn’t give us a reason. He said we would refund us the charge but then proceeded to charge us again for the entire bill, including the 20% gratuity add-on. We pointed out we still had not been refunded and he finally processed the refund for the 20% gratuity charge.Bar tab attached below. Suggesting to stay far away from this shady establishment.
Great food, awesome service. Our girl Brianna is the best, friendly and attentive, she is one of the reasons that we go there regularly; John, the owner always greets us even when he is busy. Highly recommended!
🌟 Its alright. The drinks are good, the seating is not that convenient. The street view is fantastic. Its got a nice chilled out vibe to it. 👍 🥂
Food was good. We had the beef stew and Thai salad. But , $15 for a gin and tonic ?? No prices listed on the menu so that was a bit of a shock. Service was ok , nothing special. Not sure Kelly Clarkson is what I want to listen to at an Irish Pub. Come on guys.Won’t be back , for reasons listed above
Started with the French onion soup. It was quite thin and only warm. The entree was good. Our waitress took our order for appetizers, and within a minute the host wanted to take our dinner order. Even though it wasnt busy inside we felt rushed. When the bill came I realized they added a 20% gratuity prior to tax, and left a line for gratuity. There were only two of us, so it wasnt a large party.
Yuck. Worst I’ve had. Sheppards pie tasted like a can of dog food. Gravy must have came out of a can. Bangers and mash had shriveled up and dry sausage. Really disappointing.
Came in for casual drinks and dinner with some friends. The food was excellent, and we got great cocktail recommendations. Our server, Mazum, was very attentive and friendly. We went in expecting a casual night and ended up having a great and memorable experience! Thanks Mazum
Absolutely atrocious service. Asked for water and alcoholic drinks twice that we never received. Slow and pathetic with no apology. Server just kept walking past our table and not checking in. Ordered my burger with cheese and they claimed I didn’t and tried to fight me on it. Really convenient that we were charged gratuity automatically because none was deserved. Do not recommend and will not be back. Burger was dry and awful when I finally did get cheese.
Despite a busy soccer game service was great. The food was excellent
We ordered the burger and the shepherds pie. Shepherds pie arrived in its own pot and was quite tasty, did need to add a bit of salt to heighten the flavor. Food arrived hot and to be quite honest I’ve been all around the world and their French fries were some of the tastiest I’ve had in the last couple years. Corn starch addition? Service could have been a little quicker on the drink end but the servers were quite friendly. Now be it, we did go on the 22nd of December, quite a busy time. Wonderful atmosphere for a pre dinner show
Had a great time! Bartender Joey was great to talk to and offered excellent service. Highly recommend checking out this cool bar in Times Square.
Playwright is incredible!! So glad to see a place serve Forged Irish Stout too. Absolutely delicious and cant wait to come back! Great food, great ambience, great people.
We stopped here after a game at the Garden and had a great time. Mazum was so welcoming and without a doubt enhances our experience! Good food, cold drinks and GREAT company. Thank you Mazum!!
Amazing place friendly and welcoming felt relaxed in a nice atmosphere. Staff especially mazun very helpful and chatty. Highly recommend. From four ladies from England known as the jet Set Divas.
Good happy hour Monday-Friday starting at 3. Otherwise service, drinks, and food are average. Nothing bad here, but nothing Id write home about.
Terrible service and food. The albino waiter walked around looking constipated and only time he was fast was when bringing the check. The best part about this place are the TVs. Ordered drinks several times but the waiter must be deaf because he never brought them.
We had a great time at the Playwright Irish Pub. The atmosphere was on point. They picked great music and the food was delicious. The staff went above and beyond in preparing our food, particularly by a nice gentleman named Mazum. We owe the amazing service and food to him. Thank you Playwright Irish Pub!
Great bar for Madridistas to watch a game with other fans.
Mazum was an amazing server everyone loves him! Great atmosphere, I love it here! Great, chill, pub to grab a drink with your friends
Staying in a hotel opposite we tried all the resteraunt in the area and ended up coming back for dinner 4 times in our 10 day stay and had drinks /coffee on two afternoons. It can be very busy and a little on the noisy side but it is so friendly its great to see the sports fans enjoying themselves.Carson and Muzul managed to find us a table on each visit and we ate our way through the menu. Its hard to single out one dish that is the best but we could not fault the New York steak or the filet. The bangers and shepards pie were as good as you get at home. Will certainly recommend it as a must go when in New York.We will not forget you
Amazing pub, the atmosphere, the food and the local is just immaculate. During my 10 day trip to NYC we went there every single day and it was absolutely incredible. The service was amazing and Mazum, which was one of the bartenders, was one of the most friendly that was there, although everyone was incredibly nice to us. If i ever come back to NYC i would repeat it again.
Great food, drinks are well made. Good clean environment. Mazum is amazing!! Quick with service and always providing service with a smile. We come here just to see him!! He is an asset to this restaurant.
Me and my boyfriend have been visiting here every night of our new york trip as its right next to our hotel. Its a really nice bar, great drinks and good vibe. Great for watching sports and even just a quiet drink on an evenin after exploring the city. Highly recommend
One of the best places in NYC! Great atmosphere, lovely staff, good drink selection! Highly recommend 100%
They charge you for a premium spirit when you ask for their well thinking you won’t notice. Also the lighting is so harsh it’s criminal. Never again.
The indian manager kept holding my hand and arm for no reason. keep saying we look beautiful and making uncomfortable physical touch and communication. Can’t believe this is in the middle of manhattan.
I stayed a block away on this street was passing when I stopped in for some food. Very nice place and I had the Shepard pie which was great. Connor the bartender was great. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone.
A good place to have a drink and even to eat. We had a plate of veey good french fries. The moscow mule I had wasnt really tasty. But good music and ambiance.
Great bar atmosphere with 1 major problem. I had 2 Macallan 12 shots, 1 drink had 2 rocks and the other had 3 rocks. These were 3/4” cubes. I was charged $6 for them. Which is ridiculous for ice, do you charge everyone for ice in their drinks?2 Powers. 22.002 Macallan 12y. 28.00Rocks. 6.001 NY Cheesecake
What a lovely find! friendly attentive staff, great cocktails and tasty food. prices very reasonable. stopped in while we were waiting for our empire state building tour, which was perfect timing for a cocktail & a tasty dinner!
The Playwright was always our last stop when we came back from our explorations in New York and didnt want to go to bed yet. We liked the cool atmosphere, the friendly crew and the good Brooklyn Lager. Many greetings to the staff, especially the nice bartender from Queens. We will definitely come back to this bar when we are in NYC again.
Best pub and authentic grub mix in Manhattan with amazing welcoming staff and the boss from Donegal!Visited here a few times during our stay and we always had great food, a super choice of cold beers and even better staff and met a few of the regulars who enjoy a good chat and definitely a good laugh! 😂Every game or sport is on the multiple screens too but not blaring and was followed by some great music.Miss everyone already 🇺🇸☘️🇮🇪
It all looks nice & warm until they served 2 of our 4 meals dry (hamburger & salmon just unfrozen) and charging us with to muts tipp & withoud compensation; no follow-up for us next stay over in New York.
The food was great and the people were nice.
Playwright is an incredible bar. We came to celebrate the completion of our first quarter of our MBA program and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Will definitely make it a recurring thing.
A Middle aged American bar man served me this evening with a very very bad attitude. The bill came to over $20 for a large and small guiness, which is amazingly high. He added a service charge of 20% for both drinks aswell. The service involved swearing at me for not having a debit card with me, so needing to pay using Apple Pay. He then threw the bill and my phone back at me. Not a pleasant experience in an otherwise decent bar in Times Square.
Great place to watch the Mets! Conveniently located.
Bartender was cool and attentive. Ordered fries to snack on and French onion soup. Neither had much flavor. I wouldn’t go back for the food. Good vibes throughout but very warm indoors.
Best pub in the entire city, Halla madrid!!
Visit this spot for a cozy and classy pub experience in the heart of NYC. Service is always superb and everyone is attentive and won’t let you wait more than a second for a drink. The kitchen whips up elite food (incredible fries) Brianna, Aaron, Emad and Kaylem always make us feel so welcome. The owner John treats everyone at his bar like family. Highly recommend!
The young lady behind the bar was also the waitress with multiple guest inside and out of the establishment working very hard but keeping in great spirits with a smile on her face. I will definitely visit them again tomorrow when I go back into the city 🌆 because the food looked amazing but I didnt have anything to eat so I cant comment on that yet. I was just killing time before my next adventure. Very clean friendly atmosphere.
Visiting new york from california, this was a great bar to go with my friends we had the most fun and the workers were amazing and so much fun with us, will definitely be coming back because i’ve never met a better server/manager than mazum!
One of my favorite pubs in Manhattan. The Playright is a perfect spot to grab a pint of Guinness with your friends to catch up. It’s an amazing place to watch sports with all the TVs. There’s an upstairs too so plenty of space. It’s a Real Madrid bar so heads up to all the Barcelona fans out there. The food is great too. I love the wings, the Philly cheesesteak egg rolls, and the sweet potato fries.
Not Irish. Bartender doesnt know what a sausage roll or HP sauce is. No Harp even though its advertised on window
Great service! Mazum is the best!! Highly highly recommend
I have come to this pub multiple times, I went to an event and they charged someones tab on my bill card. I didnt noticed until a few weeks later when I check my credit card, I open a dispute and the bar did not want to reverse the charge, even though I showed proof of what my chargers were . BE CAREFUL IF VISITING AS THEY MAY CHARGE YOUR CARD WITHOUT PERSMISSION.
For a late night real pub in midtown.. this is your spot. Great bartenders and characters!
Honestly a vibe. Good drinks, well priced and fabulous service. Conor was one of the best bar tenders I’ve experienced. Beers under 10$ and reasonable cocktails. If you’re from out of town and want to get social come here.
Solid bar. Soccer bar through and through. Great bartenders and servers.
When asked if they were selling food after midnight, we sadly were told no. But then our waiter brought us leftover birthday cake from a party earlier and it was delicious! A small act of kindness that really made our night!
Love this place great atmosphere and staff, have been coming here during the week while visiting and mazum is always attentive
Good food and reasonable drinks. Service would be better.
Ok place. However, be aware if you are paying and tipping with a card. I had a single beer at the bar last week (~$11 inc. tax) and left a $2 tip on the card. Instead of the ~$13 amount, they charged me for ~$22. It was difficult to fix it through the phone, so I went through my card instead to get the amount sorted out.
This is a solid local bar with a great mixed crowd, good pub grub and a good selection of beer. Also has a full bar and friendly bartenders. Only the hot wings are truly hot so make sure not to be shy if thats what youre looking for. And the mild are truly safely mild.
Very kind people they help me a lot just before I went back to the uk. They probably dont no what they have done for me but thanks for can of coke as I suffer with POST TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER and was having a bad time. The place look very clean cozy & great atmosphere would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place.BIG THANK YOU
The food was Great - Mash potato not like home but was OK 🤣... Great buzzy atmosphere and great staff. Would recommend to anyone visiting new york to stop by.
I stopped here while on a trip to NYC and while I stayed on the same block. I was very pleased with the BBQ Chicken sandwich on a panini, and the beer was good and reasonably priced. After many years, I returned on a recent trip based on the above-mentioned good experience. I found the bar to be great once again, good happy hour, tasty food. Its a place with some character and the next time I find myself in NYC, Id happily return.
I have been to numerous bars around the city. However, this one in particular provides an absolutely warm heart felt experience. The service is extremely fast and orderly. Specifically speaking about Amber the bartender. She made sure we were taken care of regardless of how busy she was. She always stopped by and conversed with us and overall enhanced our experience at the playwright. Will definitely return soon.
Zumies is the best person to hangout and ask for drinks from. he’s an awesome server. barry and conor are your bartenders to be! you dont wana miss them if youre coming to the city!
Great vibe, felt home away from home. Expensive tho
LETS GO COWBOYS! best bar to celebrate with fellow cowboys fans. food, drinks & bartenders are all the best
Mazum was an amazing waiter! Really welcoming and always smiling, he took the time to speak with every customer and made sure everything was fine more than once. I definitely recommend this place.
I was visiting NYC from Dallas and was looking for a Dallas Cowboys bar and stumbled upon this gem. The service is great, the people are kind and the wings are awesome. Shout out to the bar staff for being so fun!
Amazing espresso martini and better vibes thanks to Mazum
The bartenders are terrible. They are rude and don’t give good service at all. My partner and I went there two times and both times were terrible with the bartenders. Don’t go there.
Mets watch partys are nuts here. Owner is cool. Bartenders are cool. Crowd is cool
Come for the fun, watch a game. Hang out with friend. Stay for the food.Come for the Happy Hour Stella.
Waitress was lovely and kind, but I ordered the macaroni and cheese and it tasted exactly like runny velveeta.
Had a lovely dinner. Staff were really friendly. Food was delicious.Highly recommend. We had a burger and the nicest fries ever.We had bones bites and a cocktail too
Good cheeseburger, service was good. Fun place to see a Mets game.
Fantastic pub!!The food was delicious, stuff very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed atmosphere and a good laugh with John who came to the table to take our order himself. He has a really lovely characterand made us feel welcome.A fantastic experience, and highly recommended!
Good drinks, did not have any food.
Was worried there wouldn’t be a way to watch the cowboys with a community in nyc, but you definitely can here. Great atmosphere, incredible staff, and perfect for football. Definitely recommend if you’re a cowboys fan!
It should be a rule, that an Irish pub should have at least an Irish person working there :-)Fantastic little place, great food with Irish ideas, alas no bacon and cabbage!
Best place in NY to watch a Real Madrid game!
I love this place. It has a good atmosphere, and the food is delicious. Our bartender, Kaylem, was very charismatic and gave us free shots!
This was I and my husbands favorite place to eat when visiting New York. The food’s amazing here. The atmosphere easy and inviting. The service impeccable.
Feb 4, 2023, 6pm. Dont waste your time unless you have time to waste. Walked in a stood there waiting for some sort of direction. Finally walked up to the bartender and said we were there for dinner and told to sit wherever. Sat directly across from the bartenders view. Party of 4 girls at the table next to us that the waitress went over and asked if they were good and totally ignored us. Made eye contact with the bartender and never sent anyone over. Finally, after 20 minutes, I went up and asked the bartender to speak with the manager and was told the short guy or maybe his name was shorty was in the back. I informed Mr. Happy Bartender that weve been waiting for someone to wait on us and was told with a stupid look ok. Great! IQ of 4.. Finally talked to the waitress and again asked to speak to the manager and was told there wasnt any. Talked to another couple that shortly exited after us and was told they waited and were also ignored. Thats ok because we had a fantastic meal at Tacombi 23 w 33st Empire State Building that I will also write a review for.
My buddy and I stayed on this block when we were in town for the rock-n-roll hall of fame. So we went here about every day. Everything I would have asked for out of a local pub. Great bartenders, nice selection of beers, and the food was good. So we went back, over, and over, and over again. The bartenders made us feel at home with good down to earth conversation and there was plenty of games on the TVs. I loved it and recommend it if in the area.
How does an irish pub not serve guinness?
Rating this a 2 star because of the shady business tactic this place and many other NYC restaurants employ— they add a 20% gratuity automatically to the bill. After the 20% gratuity, you will get a prompt to add an additional tip which you will feel obliged to give if you didn’t notice the automatic gratuity
Really great food, really great drinks. Staff was incredible. Mazum is the man, really cool dude.
Amazing service! Went for my friends birthday! They treated us great! Will go back soon! Our server was awesome!
We stopped by this random pub to grab a quick lunch as we were in the neighborhood. Surprisingly really darn good salads. The proteins all come out warm/freshly cooked, greens fresh, and dressing light and paired well. The fries are double crisped, really good as well. Again, pleasantly surprised good lunch!
Cozy pub with great atmosphere, friendly staff and good food
Ordered 3 different draft beers (Shock Top, Brooklyn Lager, Playwright Amber), all 3 were super watered down, didnt have any fizz whatsoever and didnt taste anything like what the beer was supposed to taste, felt like we were being scammed. Service was also super slow, albeit the pub was moderately busy. Avoid at all costs.
#LGM#BELIEVE#OMGAs one from away, who has spent many games at Citi, if I return to NYC, will seriously consider adding this as a must stop.#7LA
10/10 The best pub ever. We are from Spain and we had so much fun there !
We just moved to the area and were looking for a spot to watch the Cowboys game. We couldnt have picked better. This will be our spot for football season
Terrible service. The place looks cool but thats basically it. They show the menu outside even though the kitchen is closed. We had to throw them twice our food was brought cold. They would deny it. The TV was very loud, even for a sports bar/pub. Overpriced food for its quality, even for New York, and of course, they werent quick at all. I cannot recommend this place.
We love Mazum!!! My favorite bartender in New York! We will be back!!
Our server was delightful. She allowed my kids to try the ginger ale before they committed to it for their drink. We had the fish & chips, Sheppards pie, and my kids had the chicken fingers kids meals. Everything was delicious! The kids meals were a bit pricey but they included a drink and ice cream.
Would avoid, had one old fashioned and ended up at the ER the same night for throwing up blood. The bartender did not seem to know what they were doing/serving as they would ask me how the drink was a couple of time.
Good bar to watch any Real Madrid games very chill
The best service Ive received in the city! My boyfriend and I found this place on our way to the theatre (its just down the block from Chicago, amazing location), and the people were so nice! Always made sure our water glasses were full, topping them quite often. Food was also great, cant go wrong with a burger and Irish fare. Decent prices too for the city. Would highly recommend!
Friendly staff and offered a nice quiet location away from the hectic streets.
Stopped in for a drink with friends participating in Santacon 2023. Nice, clean establishment. The staff was friendly & prompt. Didnt order food,
Ive come here on Football Sundays to watch the Dallas Cowboys play and and enjoyed my time. However, my experience hasnt been well. I went today. On the second level the white woman was a bit rude to me. I assumed she was having a bad day, so I brushed it off. I was more concerned for her. Until I see how nice and cheering she was to the white customers. Her attitude never changed towards me. She never even checked up on me as waitresses normally does. I will never step my feet in the door again.
Amazing time, Mazum is the greatest of all time. Thank you for making my last night in New york amazing!!
This is definitely the best pub in NYC. It was my first time visiting New York from California and out of everything I saw and did, visiting this pub was my favorite. Went back twice :) - Everyone, John especially, was so nice and I loved the vibe in there. Highly recommend. Will definitely be my #1 spot to return to when I visit again!
Great food fun place
The food is good, and warrants 4 stars from me.. but unfortunately, the tap beers are always blah/sour, and knock it down one star. Ive been coming here for years and continue to make the mistake of ordering a beer on tap. My 2nd order is always a bottle.. 😂 They also have a great upstairs bar/lounge for private parties (pre-covid)..but currently, the outdoor seating is nice and chill. Service is great!...just wish they taps were better. I continue to go back..
Fabulous drinks and fabulous server!!! Mazum is the best!
Music a little loud, genre was pleasing. Would diner there again.
Great place to catch the Real Madrid game! Food is good but the drinks are a little pricey.
Great food, atmosphere and staff!
Amazing food, music and service, especially from Mazum :)
Fries were inedible, bangers and mash was good, service was appalling. To cap it all, an 18% gratuity automatically added to bill!
A couple of weeks ago we were in this place with my wife, we wanted to have a couple of beers, when we entered a friendly man asked us for our vaccination certificates and later he told us to sit at the bar, we looked at the menu and my wife decided to order a BloodyMary, I ordered some beer. When we saw how the girl made the cocktail we realized immediately that she only took a tomato juice from a jar, put ice on it and mixed them, I dont want to seem exaggerated but she put a few drops of liquor, it just tasted like a drink and He didnt even add the traditional celery. We thought it was some kind of mistake but then we saw how he generously served liquor to the other people at the bar, I guess our English is not perfect because we are Latino, but being Latino should not be a reason to be treated differently, our money worth as much as the others.
My favorite spot in the city. The food is incredible. Brianna, Emad, Aaron, John, I could not ask for better service. Also 10+ widescreen TVs and two floors. Great recommendation
We arrived on Saturday at 5 PM for dinner. We were sat upstairs and were the only ones in the front half for the first hour of our meal. The waitress took our drink order and then brought the wrong drinks. We waited another 20 minutes for her to take our food order. When the food came, it was highly disappointing. A server dropped sauces off an appetizer platter and never brought replacements like they said. She never stopped back to check how the food was or if we needed anything. She wasnt around so we could grab her. It then took forever to get the check and when we got it, it was wrong! Ill never go back.
Snacks were good, selection of crafts was Ok… location is very convenient and ambience is also fine. Staff is friendly but can be a bit more attentive. One extra star for servers 👍
Dreadfully expensive, bar staff unattended and plain rude. Clearly didnt like British folk. Steer Clear folks there are many nicer places with a friendlier atmosphere ... 3 Monkeys, and especially Rumours. Amy and Pete.
Playwrights is a New York City institution. In an area thats lost much of its charm to big corporation establishments, Playwrights has continued to retain its charm and warmth. A neighborhood and city institution for years its still a great place to go to enjoy a wonderful selection of drinks and fantastic food. The staff treats you like family and the place is kept spotless. When in the area definitely stop by and enjoy a meal and a few drinks. We were there today and had the hamburger, fish and chips, Sampler platter, crab cakes and Bangers and mash. Everything was spot on. Nothing tasted frozen and cheap. The food quality and quantity for the price paid was of incredible value and we consider ourselves food snobs. The children were treated like royalty given crayons and drawings to color, Fantastic place to go with your children and feel completely welcomed. Another nice touch was one of the owners was on the premise and clearly showed that he cared about his patrons. He was gracious and genuine the real deal.Do yourself a favor check it out. It looks like theyre expanding too so I cant wait to bring the family back!!
Great beer on draft. They dont have a Reuben. But they have a pastrami and Swiss sandwich. They also had really good nachos. Your typical Irish pub.
The service is top-notch, with attentive and personable Muzum (our waiter) who went out of his way to ensure you have a great experience.
We had a great time, and mazum made our night extra special! recommend for after work drinks ✨
Mazum is our favorite!!! Best service in town!
MaZuum is the Best !!! Great customer service nice personality very great !!! I love coming to playwright because of MaZuum !!!!
Staff was friendly, lovely, and smiley. I attended a friends birthday there and they took great care of us. The fries werent special. Nachos and Shepards pie were good, but the Shepards pie took a very long time to prepare.
The food was good, service was attentive, and the bar was clean, well kept, attractive. Why three stars? $9 beers. Guys, Im not at a baseball game. Yankee Stadium prices only apply over there.
I’ve been coming here for a year and mazum always treats my friends and I like family. Always pays attention to us and always in a good mood. Plus the drinks are good, not too strong and not watered down. nice place to pregame or end a night out.
The worst ever.Ordered corned beef lunch x3. Waitress arrived with bangers and mash x3.Took ages to get the message across that it wasnt what was ordered. Then gratuity added on to bill after all that ! wouldnt recomnend
Awesome Dallas Cowboys Bar!! We will definitely return! We even picked up a NYC DC fan club shirt! Friendly staff & good drinks!
Been there today for a couple of beers and something to eat. Had the sheperds pie and some wings. Both tasted fantastic. The bartender was also very nice and we haf a good chat. Definetely will come back when in NYC again 👍🏻
The food was great. BBQ wings were great and they were big wings too.
The place is located right in the theater district. It wasn’t overly crowded when we arrived. The reason for the 3 star review is that the tap beer tasted funny. We had two different kinds and they both had a weird taste. Maybe it was unclean beer lines, beer glasses, ect. Stick to bottles here
I always have a great time whenever I come here for a quick drink. There is a really great selection on cocktails and amazing quality of service, everyone is like family here. One of my favorite drinks to order is the old fashioned and the vodka martini these always come out great and never disappoint. I would highly recommend coming here if you are in the area.
Playwright Irish Pub is amazing! Proud to call it home of #TigresEnNYC. Its always great for watching soccer and of course, any other sports.Mazum and the crew are always great not hesitating putting the game for us and making sure we have a great time. The food is amazing and the beer is always cold as it should be!
We had a group of 6 with us and we had the best time. The staff was super friendly and had our food to us so quickly. I would highly reccomend this place!
Definitely a good place, I went there for the roland garros semi final. I loved it the bartender was kind enough to switch the channel to tennis even though I was the only one seeing tennis in the whole bar. They have the IPA goose which is a must try draft. One of the best bars in NYC I would say. Recommended for sure.
Callum was the best server/bartender I have ever encountered. What a great memory.
The drinks are good and it has a good atmosphere for sports watching etc., but the food was not very good. The chicken pot pie had no taste and the pie crust was (over) baked and just laced on top (so not like a chicken pot pie!?!), and the steak was terrible not to mention way overpriced.
First night in NYC. Was looking for a great burger and nice gin & tonic. The Play write was reccomended by the Marriott security guard. Perfect pick. Friendly staff, great burger, got recommendation for a local Italian spot for Eggplant Parmesan & Pizza from the owner.
WE LOVE MAZUZU HE’S THE BEST!! :)
Delicious drinks, Mazum was amazing and he’s an awesome bartender!
