This jazz bar has been on my bucket list since 2021, and I’m thrilled to say it exceeded every expectation. We visited to celebrate our anniversary, and from the moment we arrived, the warm and attentive service made the evening feel extra special. The live music was simply phenomenal—a soulful performance that drew you in and left you in awe. While the $35 per person cover charge felt steep, I can only hope it supports the incredible talent on stage because the experience was worth every penny.
They charged me twice saying I am not showing up. But I actually did and in fact my reservation was at 8:30pm, but they let us wait for another 20 mins and we went in at 8:50pm.The worst part is they still charged us cancellation fee despite the fact we showing up and we called 3 times trying to resolve this mistaken charge, but they still didn’t give my $70 back. The seats they allocated to us were also very tight and small where you barely touched others shoulders. Each time we called, they gave us different solutions which is not consistent for the staff training. For a decent experience, I don’t recommend this place. You will pay more than money, and your mood will swing for next 2 weeks to resolve all the money issues.
Love this place to listen nice jazz. The food is average, cocktails (sweet ones) were delicious.
Fantastic little club in a cute building. The building itself is a hotel/ a club/ a cinema / a jazz lounge. To get to Django you need to go down the stairwell to the basement and be seated. Make reservations!!!!Pro:- the music- the atmosphere- the service- they split bills if you are there with group- romanticCon:- Price ($35 entry plus 2 drink minimum)- expensive- some seats are better than others, so ask to be seated in front of the bandOverall it was an amazing vibe.
The Django is a jazz dinner club in the basement of the Roxy Hotel. The setting is pretty cool, but get thereat least 45 mins early to get a good table to the right of the stage. Other seats have limited views. The sound system isnt great, and we were sitting below an ac vent, so there was a cold draft. The food & service is average, drinks are okay. A place for a date, not to appreciate music.
I don’t exactly drink much, but the drinks here were way too strong. The service was nice, and the staff were welcoming. The band started a little late, so we didn’t get the full 90 minute experience, but overall I recommend trying at-least once.
The Django is a place my fiancé and I were so excited to pay a visit considering we love jazz clubs, live music, romantic environments, and drinks. This week we decided to attend for drinks on my birthday. My fiancé set up a reservation 8:30PM with the jazz show beginning at 9PM. We arrived at 8PM, half an hour early, and waited around to be seated. To our surprise we weren’t seated until 8:50pm as I assume they were running behind schedule from the prior show. Regardless of this, we were excited to be there and loved the vibe. There is a two drink minimum each, so we decided to order a bottle of Cabernet Sauv. to enjoy during the show. When we ordered the waiter told us that we would have to leave at 10:30pm in anticipation of the guests for the 11pm show. This was fine with us since we knew it was an 8:30-10:30 time slot.Unfortunately, we were unable to drink our bottle as about an hour later at 10:00PM (immediately after the music ended) we were told that the bar upstairs is lovely and that we would have to make our way there because the staff needed to prepare for the next round of people for the show at 11. Keep in mind most customers got up and left immediately when the music stopped so we were one of the few couples left seated (I guess we didn’t get the memo) so we were told to take ourselves upstairs. At that point we were shocked because we were told that we had until 10:30 prior and we were seated late to begin with. This is unacceptable to me especially considering the $35 fee each for entry and the $100 bottle of wine that we weren’t allowed to finish (we left 1/2 the bottle at the table). The $225 price point for 45 minutes and lack luster service plus the half bottle of wine we had to leave behind, definitely left us feeling disappointed and turned off from returning. In NYC there are many other places that value you as a customer, don’t waste your time at The Django.
The staff was super rude, stuck up, impatient just nasty vibes in general. Would not recommend. The band was good. This place was for sure overrated and overpriced. There are a lot of great jazz clubs in NYC, won’t be coming back here that’s for sure! Still had a great time with my friends and family.
I booked a reservation here for my anniversary with my partner and it was NOT worth the $35/person cover and 2 drink minimum. I don’t understand the point of making a reservation when you are made to wait with everyone else waiting before being seated. Also, I ordered a non-alcoholic drink and was served an alcoholic drink which was a really negative experience since I didn’t realize until halfway through the drink. Additionally, the waitress charged my card with the wrong bill and had to correct it to my table’s bill. The music was fine but the drummer of the band talked way too much and they only played ~3 songs by the time our reservation slot was over. There are way better places to see jazz in NYC that are more affordable. Recommend Somewhere Nowhere on Wednesday nights for Gotham Jazz, I’ve always had a great experience there and no cover charge.
Great atmosphere, great service and great selection of food. The jazz was top notch. Loved the Felipe trio live! Loved the interior and the architecture too.
Great venue. Bring some serious cash because it is not cheap. There is a cover charge with a 2 drink minimum so check your bill and get your 2 drinks. I know many places have a cover charge but their drink and food menu are ridiculously priced for what you get. So come prepared. Ill eat elsewhere before attending a show here. Lol. Overall the venue is fantastic. The show was great!
It’s is a great surprise for those who love to enjoy some good jazz🎶. It’s better if you make a reservation, no wait time and help with the whole experience. There is a cover charge and a minimum to spend per person, so be ready to spend a little extra. Music was amazing, service excellent and the cheese board was fine. But, do not miss the experience and go with someone that would love and enjoy it!Let me know how did it go after visiting 😊
So happy my husband and I were able to make it to The Django finally. We love jazz bars and the aesthetic here was A1. I love that I got the first high top seat so no one obstructed our view. Cocktails were meh, and quite expensive. I know they’re on a schedule so they will be timely and push you along. But amazing set, good ambiance, just needs cocktail improvements. Probably wouldn’t eat here as it looked very basic
Much fun over here. We didn’t make a reservation even though we had to, but they squeezed us in when we first had to sit all the way at the back. After 10 min they picked us up and put us at the front. Thank you for this great evening. We did had to pay 35$ each person for entree. We didn’t knew that so that was a surprise but the music was good so no worries about that.
The jazz club is inside The Roxy, the music was really good and with the second band it even got better. Food was OK, not really a place for food anyway... Atmosphere was nice, not very lively on a Sunday night. To me the only real downside was the cover per person, plus minimum order of 2 items per person too... No wonder it wasnt full, a pity...because the place and the bands were aazing .
A beautiful hidden jazz bar, perfect ambiance and vibe. The cheese board was delicious. Fully recommended!
Ultimately a disappointing experience. I really wanted to like this place because they draw in solid musicians, but unfortunately it missed the mark. The acoustics of the place make it so that you mostly hear the conversations from the *just turned 21 crowd* instead of the music. The vibe isn’t for people that just want to listen to jazz and have a good drink. Drink menu isn’t great. Our party tried almost all of them and they were all wrong. Wouldn’t recommend.
Such a pretty environment and old timey vibes. Love the bathroom and all the decors. Food was tasty i tried chicken kiev and my friends had burger and mac nd cheese. They loved the burger it was juicy and fries were crispy. Drinks were nice and strong.Jazz was nice and live show, service was attentive and friendly. Coat check was easy going but the general space was small and easily crowded.
Overall rating: 4.5A quick caveat- I went pre-Covid, so I’m not sure how it is now. I read some of the low reviews and it seems that the service has gotten bad (?)I don’t come to an expensive jazz club in a cave for the best service. I get one glass of wine (the cheapest) and I listen to great music.I wouldn’t become a regular here because I do like listening to myself think. But! I do recommend giving it a try for a date night. But maybe, pregame somewhere else.
I listened to two great jazz performances at this underground jazz club. We were walk-ins and were able to get a table, although it was pretty busy so you should get reservations. The two mocktails I ordered were pretty good. Theres a $35.00 cover and a 2 item minimum.
The manager told us at the entrance that price is 35$ and you get 2 drinks. After we asked for the bill we saw that they charged us the 2 drinks we took. We explained then the situation and they were very unpleasant. After all we payed 150 dollars for 2 regular glass of wine. The service was terrible and all our stay there we were not treated well. I DONT RECOMMEND.
A fantastic intimate jazz club. It is on the lower level of the Roxy hotel. This place is great. The food is good. The drinks are great, and the service is attentive and quick. Overall a great experience. There is a cover charge with two shows a night. It is a little pricey but I felt it was worth it. Pick the second show so you can stick around for more jazz. Reservations are a must.
Nice atmosphere and good music. everything else (foods, drinks, fancy staff, etc.) is just a scam to get more money from customers. you cant enjoy music enough due to the constant pressure to order more and more... wish they convert this place to a more music oriented venue and stop pushing people to spend money.
Was really excited about this place but unfortunately we read the website wrong and they close earlier on Sundays. We accidentally showed up 10 minutes before the show ended and asked if we could at least watch the last bit. We were told we’re more than welcome to come in the last 10 minutes and get some drinks. Once we sat, we denied drinks since they were closing soon and the host/maybe manager came up and rudely interrupted her server to say when she asked for us to come in for drinks, she meant there was a minimum drink purchase to be able to watch. I said we didn’t want drinks but we’re more than happy to pay a minimum fee to enjoy those last minutes. She rolled her eyes and walked away from me. Sadly we didn’t even get to enjoy those 10 minutes.
We really believe this is one of the coolest places in NY but still a bit expensive if you don’t set your expectations. We paid for dinner around 70$ each and 25$/ person extra for the concert. Recommend the mac&cheese!
So, so fun. Music was incredible and cocktails were great. Reservations are only 90 minutes - my only complaint is that it went by too fast!!
A Steinway grand, a double bass, a high-end jazz kit, some brass — and the hands that know what to do with it. An acoustic cave, joyful players, gentle cocktails — and an audience that knows how to appreciate it. A magical mix, night after night.
Amazing vibes, the acts were just extraordinary. Really good cocktails and beautiful ambience
Great spot, but way way overpriced. Feels like a big tourist trap. Limited good choice and probably some of the most expensive manhattans($17) & burgers ($25) we ever had. Dry loud, at the end of the day you will have a soar throat. Besides, the website is very confusing, if you care for jazz. There are two venues - Racy upstairs & Django. They have both two different websites and schedules, so you need to be careful when checking. And again it is way way way too loud when life music is not going.
Very lovely crowded little underground spot. the music was amazing, and my steak was delicious. my cocktail, lover man, wasn’t that great, and they didn’t have the wine i had wanted initially with my dinner but it was good nonetheless. additionally, the service can be a bit slow, but the music is so good, you’ll hardly notice.
This underground, charming live jazz music spot is pricey, but ‘worth i’t as a fun celebratory one-off. The cover charge on top of a two item minimum feels a bit heavy handed, however the vibes, music, quality and talent of the performers offsets it. I’ve been twice on romantic dress-up, dates. Always recommend DJango to friends; usually a big hit for a group rez birthday ‘night-out’.
Great jazz bar! Food was ok (do not recommend ordering salad, it’s just lettuce) but the show was amazing. Highly recommended for an authentic jazz experience (not food).
Django is in the basement of the Roxy Hotel. Django is known for jazz, good music with high-level artists. That said, if youre looking to chat and have some good drinks, I recommend you stay at The Roxy Bar.The place is very popular and therefore it is highly recommended to make a reservation and know that there is a cover charge even if you only watch for 1 minute. The food is ok, nothing refined but good.the drinks are very well made and the service was good.Keep in mind that it is a small venue similar to a band shell, so the music is loud.I honestly loved it. I love jazz and I will definitely come back to see the show.
Such a classic New York City experience. Great show, good cocktails, fun crowd. We booked in a reservation and requested a table in front and had what I would say is the best seat in the house. Two different shows (research the bands in advance on their website). Loved it!
Music was great! Service was horrible, so we’re the drinks. Wanted to substitute food for the mandatory 2 drink minimum, they were in able to do so. Also we were sat in the middle of a walk way so one of the people in our party kept getting hit in the back. If you enjoy jazz music and can get over the horrible service this is the place for you!
Really cool place! The drinks were good, the Harlem’s Manhattan is a must try! The bands were great, the room was full but everyone was quiet and enjoying the music.
If you’re looking for the perfect date spot that has amazing ambience and a great atmosphere look no further. The soft jazz in the background, added a nice layer of comfort while having an amazing time with friends or family. The drinks are super so don’t worry about the two drink minimum. Service is also impeccable with an attending staff that cares to your every need making the experience 10 times better
Wonderful bartenders who know and value their craft, great atmosphere and layout but it gets crowded quickly so make a booking!
If you love and honor music specifically jazz this is a must.Outstanding performance in such a unique environment. 10/10 would recommend as a date night or visit
Love the space and the music. Been here multiple times. There is NOTHING on the menu , appetizers or entrees, for a vegetarian. Food is otherwise good, I’m told.
One of the best places in NY to enjoy proper Jazz music in a great atmosphere. I was positively surprised by the quality of the food, we tried tenderloin, kale salad and the cod. Prices are appropriate considering the level of service and the live Jazz bands. Only thing to note is that the reservation is only for 90 minutes, so you may have to find a place at the bar If you wish to stay longer.
This is a truly incredible spot. If you enjoy jazz music, you should make a point to come here. It is the traditional “don’t speak during the sets” so if you’re into a move conversational spy with jazz in the background, this won’t be what you’re looking for. But we had such an amazing time here. The spot is so beautiful and you can feel the history of legends who have played in this space.
This place has a vibe that really welcomes everyone, from the couples wanting to have a romantic dinner, to groups wanting to have a good time, and for those having solo dates. All the staff was so friendly and helpful but massive shoutout to our bartender Joe Maximo who went above and beyond to make our night awesome! The drinks he made were outstanding (The Legend was fantastic), but he also took the time to have a conversation with us while bartending which made us feel extra welcome. On top of that the music was so on point with the vibe. I can’t wait to go back there and enjoy another great night!
Love the jazz, but they will cancel your reservation without notice for a private event. I had a reservation for over a month and they didnt honor it.
We had a great time! I highly recommend reading reviews before going. The music was incredible and the reason we came. The food was better than expected the cocktails were great. I highly recommend getting there early for your reservation and waiting at the hotel bar or just hanging out. They do not start seating until just before the band begins playing and are strict on reservations, they treat it like going to see a movie. The seating seems to be based on your check in time for your reservation. Know what you’re ordering before you get there so you can get your order in immediately and have enough time to meet the two drink minimum. If you come in prepared it’s a great time!
The music is great! Live jazz! It took a a lot of time to be seated. Go with patience.
My favorite jazz spot in new york. Lovely ambiance, the music is usually very good (especially after 10:30 PM!!), and the burgers are amazing. You need to drink minimum 2 drinks and pay an entrance fee, so it can get expensive. The Roxy is beautiful and there is a lovely ancient cinema right next to the jazz club. Reserve in advance!
Great for a romantic night out , or just some great drinks. btw the non alcoholic drinks are one of the best I have tried in Manhattan
A beautiful and unique experience. whoever designed the building had wonderful taste it enhanced the music.
An unforgettable night at Django jazz club! The atmosphere is electric, perfectly capturing the spirit of a classic jazz era with its intimate seating and stylish decor. The live music is top-notch, featuring talented musicians who play with passion and skill. The staff is attentive, making sure every guest feels welcome and well cared for. A must-visit for any jazz enthusiast or anyone looking for a captivating night out!
The Django inside the Roxy Hotel is a very cool and intimate jazz cellar. The venue features different jazz groups throughout the month and the show we saw had two sets (each about one hour). They don’t happily accommodate large parties so my group was separated for the show. Two drink minimum with no cover charge if you are a hotel guest. The cocktails were strong and the acoustics were loud. This place is a great winter evening date night spot. The earlier you arrive, the better your seats during the set.
The place is in the cellar of the Roxy Hotel and looks amazing! A little bit pricey, but great live music, delicious food, and great experience overall. Its worth it in my opinion.
Best Jazz club in all of Manhattan! This subterranean Jazz cellar is one to write home about. Everyone that enjoys jazz club NEEDS to add The Django to their list. The cocktails were superb, and their smoked salmon deviled eggs are so good, we ordered 2!! And the Latin jazz band had the entire room on their feet dancing!! 10/10
One of my go-to spots in the city. Mac & cheese is my fave. The artichoke toast was surprisingly good. Drinks are lovely. And of course, the jazz is divine.
Very cool jazz bar, perfect for a date night with great artists. Pretty expensive though, so would only recommend for special occasions.
Very cool spot to take in some classy musicians doing what they do best! The underground vibe makes you feel like your in Europe. A+
Terrible experience here on Tuesday nite. I booked on resy and no where does it mention a cover charge or a minimum. The hostess also did not mention these things when we arrived. We sat by the doorway and an AC was blasting on us so I was ready to get a drink to warm up. I ordered a cocktail (I weigh 100 pounds this was going to be my only drink for the nite) my boyfriend ordered a glass of wine and our friend who is sober ordered a Shirley temple. The waitress cocked her head every time we ordered as if it wasn’t enough. We also ordered 3 different food dishes. The shrimp cocktail which was fresh and nice, the macaroni and cheese with bacon was a large portion and half decent, and the chicken sandwich (I didn’t try it but my boyfriend had a few bites he didn’t like it so he didn’t eat much of it but then he woke up at 3 am vomiting he’s the only person that ate the chicken sandwich)no one asked us how is everything / are you enjoying the food?!but 3 different times we were asked are we waiting on 1 more person?!I didn’t realize until the end it was bc they were going to charge us $35 per head and try to make us order 2 drinks each etc… we were going to buy a bottle of dom but the vibes were so off in here we decided to leave. That’s when I saw I was charged the $105 cover charge.Im so sad because i planned this night because we are moving to Europe and it ended up so not special. I use to have magical nights here and frequented the Roxy because I worked for Grand Life but wow was this a let down.I will say the music was lovely and I understand the $35 cover charge for that. But the servers aren’t happy there and I can’t help but blame management… if you’re planning on spending +$200 on jazz nite take yourself to Bemelmans
Such a great place to spend time while listening to a world-class jazz show. I had a blast and the musicians were amazing and welcoming. You better have a reservation and know that at least two drinks have to be consumed during your time in there. I strongly recommend giving it a shot to drinks and foods and enjoy the show. Please be respectful and don’t talk during the show.
A big chaos to manage between multiple sessions a night. They need to factor in more time between sessions and improve the experience of both the performers and the audience. Big kudos to servers who do their best to attend the urgency of changing audience all night. Everything is so rushed that it is hard to enjoy the music. Food is very average and cocktails are okay.
Good place overall, good music and atmosphere. I was extremely disappointed in the service. We were wrongly charged for drinks that we didnt order (additional 50$ + tax + tip) and they told us to contact management to get a refund. We had to follow up by calls and emails for months, and never got the full refund back. Make sure you dont get charged for items you didnt order, and consider other jazz bars in New York with better service.
Amazing jazz-bar. The place is super nice and feels authentic although very modern. Service was fast and the cocktails were good. Recommend to book a table - this requires a 2 drinks pr. Person minimum.
Underground jazz bar
The only thing i liked about this place is the atmosphere. the interior design it’s cute!drinks overpriced, ando i also didnt know about the $35 cover per person and neither of the 2 drinks per person, so they charged me a “minimum” amount of $20… afterwards i asked and THEN i ordered a dessert for compensate those $20.the dessert was bad. dissappointed!and the service was meh
Music and atmosphere was amazing. Service was OK. Food was a disappointment. tip: don’t order the chopped salad with mint and basil. There’s no mint there’s no basil and it’s not chopped. It’s $22 for a bag of spring mix dumped in a bowl.
Walk into another time. Basement venue reminds me of a scene from a midnight in Paris. Definitely worth a visit and great jazz show.Kind of bad service and lil pricey but good drinks. Go for the 730pm show which doesnt have cover.
Don’t come here!! Wish I could give 0 stars. They charge $35 cover fee per person and a two drink minimum. We made a reservation for 10pm and there were 50 other people (mostly tacky tourists) waiting for tables that also had reservations. By 10:30pm we decided we didn’t want to give them any business since we still werent seated. Came here a year ago and it was meh, overpriced and nothing special. Spare yourself.
Amazing place to enjoy a jazz night. Very friendly waiters, good drinks and food. I bit pricy though.
Even after booking three weeks in advance, its frustrating to endure a 40-minute wait, especially considering that leaving results in forfeiting the cover charge per person, in addition to being required to consume two drinks. The establishments policy feels exploitative, if you have to wait For table they should leave you to decide if you want to wait or not.
The Django is an amazing place to watch live jazz. Always a fun time with great acts and delicious craft cocktails. You wont be disappointed!
Nice spot. However, if I could give 10 stars to the hostess, I would. In all my years in NYC I have never met someone so kind at the door. I think her name is Brianna. A promotion is in order!
Overpriced. Crowded. Came to dance...not a lot of room to dance. They didn’t have any tables, so they put us at the bar (10 dollar charge to seat per person) later a table opened, we moved to the table and didn’t expect a charge to be re-seated (another 10 dollars per person)Didn’t know sitting could cost so much.
Beautiful experience! Loved the vibe of the place very different than anything now a days !! The music was incredible
Its a cozy place for a night jazz performance. The artists are great and friendly. The interior is different from a typical restaurant so it is interesting.
Love love love this spot. Great atmosphere, drinks are very good and jazz music was great! Such a fun spot (not cheap)
Super cool jazz club in the basement of the Roxy hotel. This is a great place to come for a date or a special night to enjoy some jazz music. There are different seating options which you can see on Resy but we had a 8:45 res for the 9-10pm set. They do kick you out of your seat for the next show but they let us move to the back bar where you can still hear the music. The drinks are $18-22 which is what I expected but you do have to pay a $35 cover (each) which is a lot. Overall the service was great and the drinks were good.
Nothing new to say that hasn’t been said before. Food was terrible. The drinks were good! The music was also good. They have a Photo Booth at the hotel entry and the aesthetic of the place was so nice!
Movie Screening live performance. YOSHIKI was amazing. Staff- GREAT!
The atmosphere was nice. the performance was amazing. even though it took an hour for us to get orders, it was Okay since they suggested us the dishes were on them. The only but huge problem we & anybody else of a common sense cannot accept is the hostess, Jamie. Our first experience in this place started with being insulted by her. she asked me that my coat is a real fur when she picked it up to hang and right away, she said ‘Ewww’. I asked her very unpleasantly ‘why’, she frowned in front of my face saying ‘I’ve never worn a real fur’.Thanks to this impressive first step, we spent 2hours in irritating mood by paying for the drinks, the performance, and the tips .When I got my coat back from her, I told her that I felt very unhappy with your mention and expression, but she just kept her attitude like kind of someone from an animal campaign in the restaurant which serves meats. She acted like listing us on the black list (funny). The manager ended up apologizing to us instead of her, saying they are going to send some perks for our next visit but nothing has been sent yet for few days. Although we’d receive them, we don’t think there will be another chance for us to have temptation but just wanting to indicate that the manager is not responsible to his words as well.I conclude it is worth visiting here, only except the hostess, Jaime. She deducted values of this place while she imposed her values towards the customers.
Great music and vibe, but TERRIBLE service. Expect a $25 cover, always, even tho they say there are certain nights that are different and it may vary depending on talent. Food were orders wrong. Waited 20 minutes to place a drink order. Charged something much higher than advertised on the menu. Food was not worth the price. There were more servers than patrons but I can’t express enough how terrible the service was and how avoidant they were to even lock eyes with tables wanting to order something or get the check. So bad.
If you want to have a real NYC Jazz experienceA classy beautiful location a hidden Gem at the Roxy HotelI highly recommend sitting a little to the back as in the center would have loud music eco so you cannot have a conversationGreat service and always great bandsNot to mention Latin music night is not to be missed
Really not worth your time. We went to watch a show and honestly it was good but the place is way to noisy. As a grandson of a musician I completely understand the cover charge of $25. We were a group of 8 and the bill came and I then realized they put a 20% tip ON THE COVER CHARGE. Why must I tip on top of a cover charge. Essentially we paid $200 total for cover and then had to tip $40 on top of that. Thats like paying for a ticket for a concert and then having to tip the artist whenever you purchase a drink.
Great place to hear some jazz. The drinks are really nice.
Fantastic little jazz club in Tribeca! Brandon was an excellent waiter and took great care of us. Menu was the only disappointment ...not a single vegetarian option and rather typical bar food.
If you have a $25 cover and a two item minimum I expect to be able to enjoy both sets of a two set performance. It wasn’t even busy. Also they don’t enforce the quite policy at all as rather loud conversations took place the whole time. Waiter was pushy and drinks were fine but took forever. Additionally I don’t know why this needs to be said but please don’t stand directly in front of me when taking an order
Solid food and great location - don’t feel as crammed in as other great jazz venues.
First they get our order wrong. But most importantly it would be a good place if they kept the time of their reservations accurate. They delay your entry by 30 to 45 minutes only to kick you out by the end of your original time. I would happily stay my 90min if my reservation time was respected. The band was wonderful.
Great venue to see Jazz in. Good cocktails and tasty menu. Space is beautiful and service is excellent.
We came here after the Halloween parade. When we arrived the gentle man said 35 per person and two minimum drinks per person. My friend and I where just not sure the door guy spoke to the manger waved the door fee which we where very happy about because we only got 10 mins of the remanding jazz band. They where amazing. We will definitely come back next time to see a whole gig. Drinks where nice really efficient Service!
A great date spot! but super expensive :(. don’t think the food was worth based on the reviews, so we just enjoyed the jazz band and the 2 drinks minimum per person. the ambience is romantic but we were advised to not talk as much during the performances. the jazz band was entertaining and friendly too! loved the vibes.
Worth every single penny, It is truly a unique experience. I felt respected by the staff, got to choose my very table which was important because I was nervous to be right in front eating. The performance was literally so good, im 25 and I felt this was a timeless experience. Please go even just once. SO good
There is a 25 pp charge for cover and two drinks minimum per person required.Cover is totally fair because the band is absolutely fantastic! The food is hotel lobby quality. Don’t come here for food. My god, the potential here is extreme. It’s such a shame because it’s a great concept - great band and decor but food, drinks and service have a huge room to improve.
Cozy atmosphere; food is skippable tbh but the drinks were great. Musicians were v talented.
Jazz club where you can spend time with pleasure. very good music team
Excellent hotel bar and restaurant. Cocktails are far above average for a hotel. My favorite is the Django Tiger. Breakfast is surprisingly reasonable. Coffee is frim Jacks....which is just ok.
Very cool, underground vibe. Went on a night where the performers were flamenco based. They were great and the flamenco dancing was incredible! The cider and chicken sandwich are good. Servers are warm and kind. Only downside is that it is very pricey. Definitely a strictly special occassion location for me which just depends on your personal budget, but be prepared to spend when you come here.
Great place, entirely ruined by service. The reservation suggests that (and I quote) you book reservations for the 7:30pm set ... between 6:30pm and 7:30pm before the music starts. We arrived on time for our 7pm reservation. At around 8:15pm, as the band was in the middle of performing, server arrived and informed us that we have about 20 minutes left on our reservation and if we want to order anything else, we should do this now. It wasnt at all clear if we would need to leave before the band is finished with the set. I had to clarify that, and was told that the reservation is limited to 90 minutes, but they would allow us to stay till the end of performance. We ordered a dessert.Eventually the band finished the set, house lights were turned on and the bill was brought to our table.I informed the server, that the dessert never came but we were charged for that. Server said that it is still coming. I payed the bill+tip, server took the check and left.We waited for a bit, by that time most people have already left and the staff was already setting up the tables for the next performance. We left without seeing the dessert or the server again. We have been to this place before and loved it, and the performance this time was also exception, but we will not be coming again. To be clear, $18 dessert on a $400 bill doesnt make a material difference, but in New York Jazz scene there are so many other much better options that dont rush you or make you feel unwelcome.
Used to be one of the best jazz clubs in the city. Unfortunately, post-COVID A) the service has gotten pretty awful, but more importantly B) it has been overrun by twenty-somethings who found it via tik tok that never stop loudly talking at each other during the sets. So this once-nice place to listen to good jazz with a good crowd has devolved into a typical, generically downtown “let’s go out” spot.A shame, since the acts themselves are still fantastic.
Django is the nice jazz club with good music and vibes. Unfortunately I chose far table and it was impossible to listen as everyone was talking. So you want enjoy with the music find the spot near musicians. As for price is quite expensive and personally I think that requirement of minimum 2 drinks is quite unfair as some people even don’t drink for health or religious reasons
Nice ambience and attentive service. Expect loud crowd and people eating here. Nice date spot for a live music but if you just want to just enjoy music, this might not be the perfect venue. Dogs are welcome also!
Great jazz band and really good selection of drinks, food, and dessert! Staff is very friendly.Only con is that the workers at the check in desk near Django very quickly run past the $25 cover charge per person when talking to you.
Beautiful space and ambiance! We ordered the Lobster Mac and Cheese and the cheese board. They were great!
Great place, great music and the food is good only gripe so really its 4.5 stars. On your bill the tip percentage it includes the cover charge. Its misleading I want to tip 20% on the food. I shouldnt be tricked into tipping on the cover.
I loved the atmosphere at this jazz bar, it was very cozy. Drinks were good and I enjoyed the food selections too- will definitely arrive earlier next time to try more food! The musicians are great and fun, I look forward to visiting again!
We had such a fun time going here! Music was incredible. Food and service are amazing
With regard to the high prices and $35 / person coverage:- The service was subpar (table was forgotten several times)- Drinks took 20 - 30 minutes- The drink was seriously watered down- Food nothing special+ The band was ok
Jazz club inside the Roxy Hotel. $25 cover plus 2 drinks minimum. Place and decor are amazing, gives a speakeasy vibe, sort of underground. The band that played was talented and has great vibes. Food and service were very disappointing- food was acceptable but took very long. “Cheese platter” was two pieces of goat cheese with a slab of jam. Had to ask the waiters several times to get anything which was frustrating. Whole group thought it was not worth it - expensive for a low quality experience. Will try to come back and give it another chance.
This place is very pretentious yet very bad. Don’t get me wrong, live music is amazing but the cocktails are horrible. The waiter said they mix all the cocktails in advance and don’t do any alterations. Guys, “a cocktail” means bartender’s creativity. When you ask people to pay $20 a drink you have to be at least resourceful. Buy a bunch of bartenders cookbooks, it will make your performance better. Very. Very. Very bad.UPD 2 years after my first review. The owner just replied and their answer is hilarious.
Amazing music and atmosphere. Good service. Food is good but limited. Drinks good. Can get pricey though, expect a cover charge and 2 drink minimum. Weird part was we got food (entrees) and 1 drink each and they still had audacity to charge us for the 2nd drink we didnt have. Even though the food was more money than a second drink would of been. Pissed us off and made no sense.
One of my favorite jazz venues in town. Went there twice. Located at the basement of ROXY Hotel with chill early twentieth century vibes.Super talented musicians, friendly staff and excellent service. There s coverage, you need to book online, minimum two drinks apply. Little pricey and crowd are loud.Bonus!!!! There s a retro cinema next door, where you can watch a movie before the jazz.
Came here for Valentine’s Day—the whole experience felt like that scene in Goodfellas where Henry and Karen walk through a restaurant and end up in the front. The drinks were good, the music was awesome, the food was alright. We had the chicken sandwich and burger and both were a little underwhelming. DON’T FORGET there’s a $35 cover charge per person and a 2 drink minimum. Expect your bill to be no less than $120 between 2 people. All things considered though we had a great time.
Extremely rude wait staff and poor, slow service. Filthy bathrooms that look like a college frat house. Had to follow up mutiple times to get served. Refused to serve us dessert because the kitchen was backed up and it took them too long to get our dinner out. The entertainment was great but for a high cover charge it would behoove you to treat your customers better. Would definitely never return.
$35 dll cover and 2 drink minimum
Just perfect. Great jazz. Great atmosphere. Great service. Good food and drinks. Came in for a nice and quiet night without kids!Space - small tables but room for large partiesMusic - variety for everyoneStaff - friendly and professionalKids - leave at home. We love them but it’s time for the adults.
The food, the service and the atmosphere were all good. Very nice spot to chill at
I went for drinks with my boyfriend on his birthday. We both had two drinks and split an app. Since it was my boyfriends birthday I paid and distinctly remember how much the total was with tip (I never pay so it stuck out in my head lol). A few days later I noticed I was charged an extra 5% on the total. Not sure if they have a policy since our bill was pretty small but a heads up would have been nice. Idk if it’s a good policy to modify the check after running it without letting customers know.
Cool new york ambience. The seating for the live jazz show was good; we were seated in front so we got nice view of the stage. They have a 35$ cover charge which includes two items minimum but drinks were nice. I also tried the chicken burger but it was nothing extraordinary. Next time would only come for the music. Overall it was very enjoyable experience.
Underneath the Roxy, what an amazing bar, we had an especially great bill and lovely service
In the brief:- food - rubbish,- service - 3 out of 5,- music - 4 out of 5.
I was really excited to come here but the experience was not great. We were shoved on the side and could barely see the stage. Service was pretty slow because there are so many tables packed into such a small space. The food and drinks were not great either. Our burger was raw and cold and the Mac and cheese which I was also so excited for, was dry. I removed my ice cube to reveal 2 oz of liquid for an $18 drink. They charge $35 each and kick you out in less than 90 minutes even if you’re not done with your drinks. I’ve been dying to come here for years and left bummed it didn’t live up to the hype.
I got really sick after eating at Django yesterday. Great music on Tuesday evenings, nice atmosphere. But do not eat anything there…. Especially as it’s quite expensive. I do not recommend at all.
We had an amazing night thanks to our server, Tre, and our host, Alvin. The atmosphere, energy was fantastic and the music set the right mood. The artist that night was Lauren Henderson, who did not disappoint. My Old Fashioned was made perfectly- it wasnt overly strong with not enough flavor to it. My wife ordered the Showstopper which was also excellent. We look forward to coming back here for our future date nights.
Wonderful jazz bar inside on the lower level the Roxy hotel.Cute little vibe
This place is a terrible service was bad! They all have a bad attitude. They were playing some terrible live music and then they were telling people to shut up so rude! If you really looking for a fun night, this place!
I was very excited before I went there because I like jazz.I ordered a hamburger and asked the server for ketchup 3 times, but I ended up eating fries without ketchup. It took a long time to order, and it was a very disappointing time for the insincere service.I dont think Ill revisit again.Server name is Sergio..
Made us leave before the first set had ended. I understand they have other reservations but when people pay a cover to see a set you can not kick them out till it’s over. We had spent already $400 on food and drink and would have got dessert and more drinks but were made to leave in the middle of the last song.
The ambience in this place is what I would call rustic luxury. The mixologists are very talented as are the musicians and the vibe is very stylish and suave. They have ample entertaining areas and exquisite food. Would definitely return another day (or night).
Great time. Will be back
It was a fun time! The music was great and it was a real vibe. Enjoyed the location and the intimate lighting when the musicians played! The jazz was so good and paired with good drinks!
Great music and vibes.25$ cover plus 2 drink minimum
Nice little hidden jazz bar in the basement of a hotel. Vibes were great. Charcuterie board was mediocre. Wine and drinks were okay.
Pretty good ambience and setup for a decent live jazz show! Definitely a little pricey given the cover charge and two item minimum is only for one set which runs around an hour, hour-fifteen.No clue about the food but the drinks were pretty weak.
Excellent musicians. Vibe was cozy and the food and drinks were delicious. Would be nice if they expanded their appetizer & dinner menu to include more protein. Thanks for the thoughtful and attentive service.
Great music show and ambiance but service was very sloppy. While we went to dance and to say hello to friends at other table, they cleaned up our table and sat other people. They did not care all our stuff (wine bottle, jackets, purse, phones) were on the table. The explanation they gave us...they thought we left without paying...Worse is, the place was not full, so they could have given them other table before displacing us. They apologized, gave other table and comped us the cover charge, but in any case it was awkward. To avoid all of this: just go to the bar, get a drink and enjoy the good live music.
The Django Jazz Club is always a pleasure to visit. The music is phenomenal, with talented musicians creating a captivating and soulful atmosphere. The service is top-notch, with friendly and attentive staff who ensure a seamless experience. The food is delicious, offering a variety of flavorful dishes that perfectly complement the sophisticated drinks. Each cocktail is expertly crafted, adding an extra touch of elegance to the evening.Django never fails to impress, and I look forward to every visit.
Its a must to try experience in NYC, the band were professional, and the overall atmosphere was beautiful. In addition, the staff were so friendly and supportive.
The manager is an absolute jerk, I was crying before we were even seated. We had a reservation, I showed up with my service animal and he tried to tell me that as long as they let me into the lobby, they had the right to refuse me entrance to the bar. When I said that according to ADA I had every right to go in with my service dog, he interrupted me and said that their lawyers told them they could do that. He kept talking over me and interrupting me, as I explained what my service dog did he kept smirking at me and rolling his eyes. My voice started breaking as I was holding back tears, and he just started to threaten with calling security on me for making a scene. I’ve never been more disrespected and felt more humiliated since I started using a service dog.
The food was overpriced and the service was horrible. They asked you to stay 90 minutes but the band was taking 40 minutes break.$25 cover charge & 2 drink minimum per person. Never come again.
Really didnt enjoy this experience. Food and drinks were really expensive and the 2 drink minimum with tip and tax will work out at around $75 a person without food with a 20% tip. Seems wildly overpriced especially with the quality of the cocktails
Great experience! Fantastic location and venue. Drinks are also great! Would recommend!
Update: the cocktails are still great, the beef tartar needed some seasoning but overall good (still i dont understand why they charge extra 3$ for a toast, normally bread comes with beef tartar by default). However the chicken liver mousse was weird - strawberry compote on top of it made it taste very bizarre (it was an opinion of all 3 of us).The service is wonderful though: my friend ordered shrimp cocktail, but got beef tartar by error and it got replaced without a problem. Thats why i keep original 5 stars.Classy, wonderful place with great cocktails and always good (but a bit too loud music) - if you want to chat sot closer to the bar.
Great music, great place a little higher price for the quality of the food
A lovely high end bar in heart of Tribeca. Lovely selection of oysters and cocktails.
Nice jazz club, but I find it expensive and strange to pay cover just to be there for around 60 or so minutes. Then you need to vacate the place for the next event
Didnt eat there but!! It must be good because alot of people were,Great place to meet friends.
Some of the best Jazz in NYC. This place has magic.
BEAUTIFUL space. Great music and service
Amazing show! We had such a great time!
This quirky jazz bar is worth popping in to see. Cocktails, tasty food and chilled jazz.
I would give this place a 3 stars for service and actual experience but the was definitely worth the overall experience of going once. This was my first jazz show, and the performances were fantastic. The vibe of the speakeasy type club and the hotel are amazing. It seems a bit of a “tourist trap” (unsurprising as it’s in a hotel) charging a cover and 2 drink minimum. They didn’t have any 3 of the bottles of wine we ordered but were able to recommend another bottle and gave us a good price on it for the inconvenience. We ordered a cheese plate with a selection of cheeses chosen by the chef and found it funny that this simply meant 2 slices of brie, a cranberry slaw and 4 little pieces of toast. Not sure what “selection” was supposed to mean but I could make a better cheese plate from the dairy drawer in my fridge.Overall, I’m glad I went once for the experience but likely would not go again.
Absolutely amazing show and service. Came to the 1st set of the jazz show and it was lovely. Staff super kind and attentive.
The music was good. The food was average. The service was par
First of all, rude hostess for saying there was a 2 drinks minimum on top of a $25 per person cover. We said we were coming for dinner, and that should be enough. Second of all, tiny seats and no one offer to check our coats?! Their portion sizes are ridiculously small, and overpriced! Nothing special! They were out of the Bordeaux and didn’t give me another choice?! The BIG manager in the grey suit was overly annoying, speaking loud to the extra VIP couple in the corner, DURING the music event! How rude?! He sent them every single dish and dessert on the house and stay there with them blocking my view and taking loud the whole time! Food was forgettable, wine okay, music was good so I will be back but just drinks. No dinner this time. Also give folks another option if they cannot drink.
World-class music coupled with world-class cocktails! It can get a little loud, some nights but always has the possibility of becoming a listening room, when the crowd is into it. The atmosphere of this basement club will transport you to another time and place.
The staff is in a huge rush to get you out! The waiter cleared the appetizers before they were finished and the manager removed the cutlery before the entrées arrived! It wasn’t even a busy night. Not going back as there are far better jazz bars in New York City
Cool space but horrible service, don’t honor reservation times and really slow on drinks. There are better jazz spots in the city
I went with some friends as part of our visit to NYC, and the waitress basically charged us more money that the cost of the bill (a total of 100$ more aprox) Still trying to get a refund. A complete disappointment, being honest
The music was top notch. Pricey (35$ cover now, two drinks minimum) but great vibe
I came with a friend 11:00PM 2/12/23 and whatever band was playing was simply delightful. The setting is intimate and cool being located underground. There was a $25 cover charge and a two drink minimum, so be prepared to spend way too much just for a jazz show. I had two orders of the Gewürztraminer Juice which I recommend if you’re not looking to drink alcohol. I would probably return only for a special occasion, otherwise, I suppose this isn’t too terrible of a place to catch a show and have a drink.
Sent them inquiry rsvp email. No one ever care to get back.Horrible if you think can pick anyone you want to serve.Don’t even bother to come here.So many jazz clubs in NYC and they are willing to have you.
Music is incredible! Party goers need serious lessons in reasonable behavior in small venues, with band members and associated dancers. Dont try to take hats, instruments or other items from band members as they play. Dont mean mug or attempt to bulldoze the band leader as hes conducting because hes in your way 🤦🏾♀️ For everyones safety do not pick up, toss around, or flail your limbs or that of your dance partner trying to imitate what you think swing dancing is when there is limited space and waiters walking thru with drinks - just dont do it! (If you dont know how to control your body or share small space while doing so opt for a jazzy two step and on the spot turn until you do learn) And dont try to one up folks who are clearly professional dancers, accompanying the band for your enjoyment - just - dont - do - it - !!!! If youre going to interrupt the bands set to ask for a live version of happy birthday or whatever at least offer to buy the band leader a drink or TIP the band!!!
Fantastic sound quality and very cozy space with a gorgeous bar.
Great place for music and drinks. Definitely coming back...
A special shoutout to their maître d Barbara - she is the best! Overall, it is a fantastic jazz bar, world class show, great food and very friendly staff.
Argentina tango jazz. Four great musicians
This place is magical, I had such a great evening here and I will definitely come back! Highly recommend
Absolutely loved this place. It has a part in my heart now.
A fabulous evening, was back at the Django after 6 years, made for an amazing evening
Music was good but the amp volume was at least 10db too loud for this type of music.Nice menu, good service, a bit pricey.
Yes I may be biased, but as a thirty year Tribeca resident I can only say what an addition the club gives to our neighborhood... Fantastic live music and a fine dining experience combine to make this one of NYC newest hot spots....
Great jazz band the night we went. We got drinks and the cheese board.
Fun place for a nice night out. The music and drinks were great. The one hour sitting time was a bit short to finish the 2 drink minimum, which made it less relaxing.
Reserved a table for a birthday dinner weeks out, only to have the reservation bumped two days out from the reservation.I suppose I cant really review the restaurant itself beyond the terrible customer service. Now I get to try to find somewhere else in the city that will reserve a table on a weekend with only two days notice.
Great location, live Jazz music and food. Highly recommended. -1 star since the acoustic is not great (its ok, not terrible), it might be a little difficult to hear your friends at times and you cant see the band from most seating areas.
Good music, weird vibe
Good music and vibe. The drinks can be a bit pricey considering there’s already a $25 cover charger per person.
Aggressive and dismissive management. When called out on there behaviour the explanation was because they were busy and overwhelmedThat excuse is not good enough and over shadows the musicians.Still awaiting a agreed refund
Fun atmosphere but not a jazz club. You cannot hear the music. Also, if you are over 30, dont bother.
Great jazz but awful service will never return!
Used to be Nice, but the new mangement completely messed up everything. Treats the musicians terribly. Ridiculously overpriced. Don’t support them.
Great atmosphere, awesome drinks, music is fantastic. The $20 cover charge per person if you stay late is a little painful, though.
Super nice and unexpected. Felt very old New York, so a great experience. They are punctual, so make sure you get there on time and are prepared to leave when the set finishes for the next act
Food Average. Decor is blah. And they like to “tip”themselves a little extra when you pay with a card so keep your receipt.
The cocktails are amazing and he service was brilliant. Such kind lovely people! Love the snacks also 😊
We gave them a coat, received a ticket, and at the end of the night, ticket in hand, we received nothing but limp apologies. They handed the coat to someone else. Totally unacceptable. Our frustration was met with a shrug. Avoid like the plague.
Cozy spot to check out live jazz. Friendly staff. Decent drinks.
Great place to spend a night in NYC.Jazz was amazing and so were the drinks.Totally recommend.Get your reservations beforehand
Great vibe and music, feels like sitting in a movie scene in old New York
This place has a 35 dollar entry fee AND a two drink minimum charge. As you can see on the menu, it is unclear. Do not expect this costing structure to have been made clear to you by the time you sit down.Be aware of this before you decide to book. It’s an atmospheric venue, unfortunately the way the pricing was handled ruined it for us.I will not be returning to this place.
Great music, cocktails, ambience!
Foie Gras was delicious, the music-JAmaZZing, and the service was one of a kind.
Awesome little place to enjoy some jazz. Very small and came here during the Winter Jazzfest so there was a bit of a line but the wait was worth it. Bartenders really know their stuff and the place feels small and intimate like a good jazz club should. Dont be afraid to stand at the back by the bar. The acoustics are good enough for you to hear it all and the cocktails are worth a couple visits
One of the best jazz clubs in the city. The performance of the band was outstanding, unfortunately, we missed most of the show but 20 minutes was more than worth it. I would definitely come back.
Great vibe, service, food and drink and music! Don’t skip the mac and cheese with bacon. Fun date or girls night!
If you dont like the django I hate you and it is personal
Good music, friendly staff, a bit pricey but hey what isn’t around here. Did not have the food but the ode fashioned was good.
Thank you Google for always being here for me. We ate in little Italy and wondered the streets until I pulled this place up on my map. It was crowded but we were able to find a seat at the bar. The bartenders were way busy but he managed to get to us with a smile. He made the best espresso martini! Wish I’d have gotten his name. He was so pleasant to talk to and I always ask for other recommendations and his suggestions for our next stop was totally on par. The jazz band playing was so good. What a fun place and great vibe. I’d even look into staying here next time.
Cancelled the reservation due to being sick and cant believe they have charged my card. This is the first business on Resy that has done that. Not stepping in my foot here and would never refer anyone here again.
It’s alright. We went on a night when it was surprisingly empty for a Friday evening. The Jazz was decent, the musicians were having a lot of fun, but the food and drinks were definitely not on par for the price they were expecting us to pay.3/5, will most likely not go back here for jazz.
Good jazz, nice place, expensive
