Posh and elegant, the Gotham Lounge at the Peninsula is the perfect setting to enjoy drinks or tea with a colleague, or grab a bite to eat while listening to the soothing tunes provided by their new resident musician. Known for its afternoon tea selection, the lounge itself is beautiful, featuring local artwork and furnishings. I recently met a few friends after work at the Gotham Lounge, and was supremely impressed. The ambiance and vibe that the music brings, really completes the experience! If you are working or staying in Midtown Manhattan and are looking for a relaxed yet upscale atmosphere to grab a drink or kick back to some tunes, look no further than the Gotham Lounge at the Peninsula Hotel!
Great experience stopping by the Gotham Lounge for a cocktail with some colleagues. Wonderful service and excellent entertainment with their new pianist Nathan! If Nathan is playing I’d definitely recommend stopping by for a cocktail before or after dinner. Drinks can lean more on the expensive side but I believe the atmosphere and piano playing well makes up for it. Will be back!
I have had drinks a handful of times at the Gotham Lounge, which is located within the Peninsula hotel. This is a very classy lounge located on the second floor near the check-in area. This is a great spot to meet up for a quiet, sophisticated drink or to have afternoon tea.
I was the only Asian there while all other customers were white. I was the only person who didn’t get a free bowl of nuts white all other people got it. Waiters were racists. When I asked the reason why he said because I ordered coffee. Yea my coffee cost 12 and my dessert cost 24 that’s 36 in total and more than the cost of a cup of wine. I don’t think that justified the mistreat and unequal service for a non-white customer.
Great atmosphere, amazing live piano performance. Highly recommend if you’re in Manhattan to stop by for a drink or a light dinner
Great lounge with amazing music. The Saturday night musician was great with perfect high class lounge entertainment!
A little on the pricey side but also expected because of the location and stuff. Its nice and quiet and great for high tea. If youre booking a reservation online through an app, please note that if you make a reservation for 4 people, you must order a tea set for 4 people. They wont let you order less.
Went here yesterday with my family and had a great time. Especially loved the live music in the lounge
The staff are very friendly but the tea selection is very limited. Not as much traffic compared to the Plaza which is definitely a plus. Have seasonal sweets but in general not super impressed.
Beautiful lounge to have drinks and dessert inside the Peninsula Hotel. We had a few pots of teas and desserts. We had a wonderful time with friends after dinner.Tres leches cake and pineapple upside down cake were amazing!I loved beautiful floral arrangement, art work and impeccable service.
Gotham lounge is an excellent place to spend an evening. The resident musician on Tuesdays and Thursdays is terrific. Accepted requests in mid of a great setlist! Atmosphere was great.
An absolutely fantastic experience at Gotham Lounge! I indulged in a vintage Martini made with vodka from the 1970s, and it was the perfect blend of smoothness and nostalgia. Conrado, our server, went above and beyond to make sure every detail was perfect—attentive, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable. The live music added a vibrant yet classy atmosphere that made the night even more memorable. I couldn’t have asked for a better evening. Highly recommend if you’re looking for an elegant, one-of-a-kind experience in NYC!
Awesome place to relax and unwind with a pot of tea and some small plates. A bit on the pricey side but the service, atmosphere and quality all stand up to the price asked.
Nathan at the Gotham Lounge is fantastic! His piano and vocals bring classic rock to life, and his rendition of Miami 2017 by Billy Joel is especially memorable. Great talent, perfect vibe – makes for an unforgettable evening. Don’t miss him if you’re a fan of timeless rock classics!
I had such a great time here! Went on a Saturday night with a couple of friends and my drink was delicious. Best part of the night was easily the live music performance!!! Great voice and really added to the atmosphere
Great bar lounge in the hotel. drinks are nice and they have a fantastic piano player a few days a week! certainly worth a visit if you’re in the area or staying at the hotel
The Peninsula has a beautiful and pristine atmosphere. The musical talent is so good. The artists plays a variety of genres and really provides such a unique ambiance.
Had a wonderful time here! The drinks were very good and the live music was absolutely amazing. Would absolutely recommend grabbing a drink here to anyone.
The lounge had a wonderful energy. The musician, Nathan Hirschberg, was excellent and the service was impeccable. I would absolutely come back to the lounge and would recommend it to others as a great pre-dinner or evening activity. Drinks were delicious and I loved listening to Nathan sing and play the piano.
Nathan, the pianist at the Gotham Lounge is absolutely amazing - keeps me coming back! The wine, the service and incredible atmosphere make it a great night every time.
I had such a pleasant afternoon tea time here. Luxurious but not overwhelmingly formal atmosphere. The sever was very polite yet friendly. Lovely Wedgewood tea sets. Food presentation was so pretty and the food was tasty.
Conrado our server was pretentious and inattentive. When he asked for our tea selections and we asked for a few more minutes to decide he gave an eye roll and an audible sigh as he walked away. It took him forever to serve our edibles and then never came back to ask us how everything was. The sandwiches were stale for the expensive price of the service and the sweets were so room temperature that certain ones were actually melting. Having experienced the extravagant selection and service of the Peninsula Hong Kong several times, the NYC experience was a total let down and not worth the price or time.
I recently went to the Gotham Lounge, and although the food was a bit pricy, the resident musician sounded so good (he reminds me of Billy Joel) that I ended up staying until closing. Ill definitely go back just to see him play again!
We had a great time for tea :D
Afternoon tea was nice. They brought our bill which we asked them to split. After bringing the bill back, the price went up by almost $100. When we asked about it, they had accidentally given us a discount the first time but nothing was explained. The server didnt seem to care or understand why we were unhappy.
Beautiful lounge, and piano player was excellent.
We came here on a date for afternoon tea. The tea was nice and warm and the tableware was clean. It was obvious that a lot of attention went into each sweet and savory item. We especially enjoyed the savory sandwiches and scone. If theres something you dont like on the menu you can ask them to replace it with something else and theyll comply. The atomosphere was quiet and peaceful. I would recommend this for a date night or a nice quiet spot to catch up with friends.
The French person who works there is so rude and so unprofessional. He should learn the meaning of service maybe he needs training, I hope the peninsula has a learning manager!!!
A lovely place for an upscale afternoon tea!
Awesome place to have afternoon tea.
Great staff. Just cozy enough. Just chic enough without being over the top. A respectable place to meet ornfor a little respite.
Pleasant environment with neat machinery to look at while enjoying a cold brew and almond cookie.
Extraordinary lounge in the heart of Manhattan! Meets an elite standard by which you judge all other tea salons. I had the pleasure to spend Sunday afternoon with my family having tea and sweet treats at The Peninsula New York. The staff was the nicest & the atmosphere is lovely. We wanted to personally thank the enchanting manager, Victoria, who made us feel home. Our kids will always keep the peninsula bear. We will definetely come back. Ps: tres leches is delicious!!!
Great service...check out Mumon (typo), he is best servicer ever. The drinks are good...
Coronado was our server. If my hotel wasnt so far away I would have stolen him as a team member. He was one of the kindest people Ive met. You are lucky to have such a great employee.
Such a disappointment. Stale bread for finger sandwiches. Filling suspiciously old. Extremely fishy topping for some seafood finger food, couldn’t even take another bite. The dessert looked and tasted factory made. The scones were the only fantastic item. Freshly baked and absolutely delicious !!!! The menu on website says it’ll serve laduree. Well, that’s a huge misrepresentation. No laduree to be found. Even the tea selection is limited. Nothing like the website menu.
The perfect NYC afternoon tea. The perfect blend of traditional and modern. Delicious food and tea. Just lovely.
We came here after getting married in NY for their high tea and subsequently returned every few years for anniversaries. Sadly, our last visit will be the last time, The Champagne high tea is $72 per person and includes some delicately made sandwiches, pastries and desserts together with a glass of the house Champagne. The service on this weeks visit didnt warrant such a high price tag - we continually had to ask for napkins, silverware, menus, refills and the check. This wasnt due to under-staffing - the waiters just chose to completely ignore our table and it ruined the whole experience. Every other table around us received substantially better service and for whatever reason it seemed they didnt want us there.
Awesome service. Great drinks. Bartender is first class.
Expensive and non traditional. I just wanted a nice tea: one sandwich was good, small but good. The scones were hard and mean, clotted cream couldn’t save them. There was no cake, just small sweet cloying ”mignardises” senselessly sweet. Lots of them. Apparently they worship at the altar of Laduree, boring and so ‘yesterday’. The service was as one might expect, good enough but condescending. NOTHING like the original Pen. Sadly, it was probably the best tea to be had in NYC.
Very rude staff, many others were enjoying tea and pastries but would not serve me and my sister
Wonderful service.
Cool
Nice8
Just beautiful!
$25 for a martini????
Lovely atmosphere
