Food was not that good, especially conpared to these ratings. Artichokes tasted like they were grilles from the can. Paella had 0 depth of flavors; like packaged spanish rice cooked separately from seafood. Dates were overcooked. Sangria was tasty but smallest pitcher ever. Not cheap. Not worth a re/visit

Came here on a Tuesday for dinner with my mother who used to live in Sevilla. Mom was very satisfied. 😀 Highly recommend the gambas al ajillo, enjoyed the lamb bocadillo as well. Also pictured are the croquettes bacalao (codfish) which were a bit salty for me but my mother loved. Not pictured because we were too hungry but recommended: the goat cheese croquettes and the asparagus. Lots of great vegetarian and pescatarian options. Owner and staff were very friendly. I also got a hot toddy and my mother enjoyed a white wine.We were content with the outside heat lamps on a cold day during the pandemic. Plenty of outside seating not too close together. Although it was a weeknight, they had several tables seated.

I recently had the opportunity to dine at Buceo for the third time in the past 12 years, and I feel compelled to share my honest feedback with you. Firstly, I want to express my appreciation for the fantastic service provided by the bartender and the overall competence of the restaurant staff. The ambiance of Buceo is undoubtedly charming, creating a pleasant atmosphere at this cute tapas restaurant. However, I must express my disappointment regarding the quality of the food, which has unfortunately been the consistent factor in my visits. The menu, while visually appealing, doesnt seem to align with the actual execution of the dishes. For instance, the braised cauliflower was more reminiscent of boiled cauliflower and lacked the promised ingredients that could elevate the dish. The baby whole octopus dish left much to be desired, as it seemed to be swimming in a bottled Boars Head condiment one might find at a local bodega. The Pan con Tomate had a nice flavor profile, but unfortunately, the texture was compromised by sogginess. Additionally, I would caution against ordering it with the ham, as it resembled more of a tuna than the expected jamon. The grilled artichokes, while straightforward in name, lacked basic elements like salt and oil, resulting in a dry and flavorless experience. On a positive note, the lamb sliders were fine. I would like to highlight that the wine we ordered was, in my opinion, a redeeming aspect of the evening, providing a positive note to an otherwise mediocre dining experience. In conclusion, my two-star rating reflects the exceptional service provided by the staff, particularly the bartender, and the charming ambiance of the restaurant. However, it also signifies my ongoing disappointment with the consistently mediocre quality of the food. I believe addressing these culinary aspects could significantly enhance the overall dining experience at Buceo. Thank you for considering my feedback, and I hope it contributes to the improvement of this establishment.

Important! This review is only based on a single visit.Food- Interesting, fun dishes. My only gripe is that most of them needed salt. I NEVER add salt, but I had to ask the server for some. I feel like if everything was properly salted, it would’ve been much more enjoyable. I think the mussels was the only dish properly seasoned. Also, with all the exciting and unique items on the menu, serving plain white bread with plain olive oil, seems out of place. Perhaps a little something more fun?Service- Our server was timely and friendly, however the order the food came out didn’t make sense. I know it’s tapas, but I appreciate having it come out in order from lighter tasting/mild dishes to heavier/spicier dishes.Atmosphere- Quaint and cozy. A little too cozy though. Cramped when it fills up, but I’m used to that in manhattan restaurants.Overall- Definitely has potential. A bit of salt could go a long way and have more of a system to the order of dishes. Maybe I caught them on an off night? Perhaps. I might try them again since I’d like to get a few other things on the menu.

Great food, and a really great atmosphere. All the staff were very kind, especially the hostess who greeted us at the door. The only setback here are the prices; many of the tapas are far too expensive for the portions they give (after all, they’re tapas). I had a glass of wine and two tapas end ended up spending $55 (which, for me, is too much). But, if you have the budget, or you’d just like a great place for a date, this is a good spot.

More like 3.5 :) it was not bad overall, but not as good as I expected either.PROS- service was amazing!- really liked the atmosphere.- a lot of menu choices.CONS- inconsistent cooking - some dishes slightly under, some slightly over.I do plan on going back and trying other dishes in the menu that sounded great! Also, I arrived at 5pm when they opened, but leaving was very difficult to navigate through because like they mention on their website it is a small space. People were just kind of standing everywhere blocking tables from getting out. I might try patio seating next time. It looked cozy too, just less congestion :)

I am paranoid about covid so I dont go out much. But Buceo checked all the boxes. Like water carafe was left at the table so server does not keep coming near us. I love Spanish wine, Buceo has plenty on the list. With outdoor dining in winter steaming hot food is rare , and every dish we ordered was delicious and hot. Highly recommend bacon wrapped dates. Service was excellent. I am definitely going back. And yes it is heated outdoor dining. Just one note if you don’t like salty food request less cheese and salt both. I eat extremely low salt food but with bread I found it okay.I went back again last night which rarely happens, but this time I was invited to this restaurant by our friends, and I was not disappointed. We had tapa before the show.Scallops, patatas bravas, patatas fritas, Croquetas (Chicken and cod fish), Pulpo de Buceo,Tortilla Española ,Berenjena and white wine. Food quality and choice for tapa so good and delicious . Service so dood. And so close to where we live.Highly recommend this place.

Good food at a place with great atmosphere and food. The Garlic Shrimp are very good, and the prices for a tapas restaurant are mostly affordable. Biggest complaint is regarding the sangria, which they thicken (so if youre not a fan of thicker sangria, dont order it). Outside seating was nice, but the angle of the road/sidewalk makes things odd.

Well……., I know this place since it opened, it has going through many metamorphosis, I recently went back, I’m not happy to report that it is not very good, let’s make it clear it isn’t top for food, service or decor & ambience, when you serve wine from 2or 3 days ago still or sparkling somebody needs to inspect them before offering them to customers, the staff doesn’t really know anything about this particular phase of wine service, the food is average, most if it is not done a la minute, just warmup,?fast food, if Buceo wants to be known authentic Spanish food, wine’s & knowledgeble staff it needs work, the way it is presented doesn’t reflect that, staff should be presentable, most of them with herring hanging from the hears, I’m dissatisfied & disappointed, it doesn’t seem authentic!, that’s my opinion.!

Despite the tight space this was a wonderful dining experience. The selection of vegetarian, seafood and meat tapas was extensive. We especially enjoyed the Churrasco, grilled asparagus with a pomegranate aioli, and the bacalao croquettes. A small pitcher of sangria was the perfect size for the 2 of us, providing about 3 glassfuls. The service was very good, even on a busy Friday night. The sound level was not an issue at all. We highly recommend trying it out. We will be returning.

Unfortunate experience and won’t return. Food has been hit or miss over the years. Decent wine list. But the kicker was the service this evening.Waiter at 11:45pm: “Do you want another round?”(of two $22 carafes of wine). Us at 11:45pm: “Yes… but what time do you close?” Waiter: “1:00 a.m.”. Different waiter at 11:55pm: “Ladies, we close at Midnight.” any effort to accommodate the problem? None. So together we spent $53 (tab plus tip) for wine we could not drink and gonna stay salty about it.

Honestly just mediocrity incarnate. Could write a long detailed review but that just sums it up. If this place figures out its service (waited almost 30 minutes just to get the check) it may deserve and extra star or two but why bother given the tiny portions of bland food (cauliflower came in a soy sauce sized dish and cost $15). Just skip

Food was good, but small portions. The reason for 2 stars is my waiter was a complete jerk the entire time I was there. Ive worked in the service industry, Im always kind to wait staff. He was straight up rude to my friends and I from the moment we arrived. I ordered a dish that was 12 dollars on the menu. We got the bill and it was 14. No one was coming by to grab the check for a good 20 minutes, so I ended up forgetting/giving up on asking my waiter about it. As I was leaving, I managed to pull him over, and mentioned that the dish was incorrectly marked, just for future reference. He said nothing to me. Went over and checked the menu posted at the door (which also said 12), checked another menu inside. Came back and simply said, no its 14. After looking at 2 menus that clearly said 12. I pointed at the menu item and the twelve that was next to it. He said ... okay and made zero effort to fix the problem. I left angry and compelled to let people know just how rude this guy was to me and my friends.

Buceo 95 is the best there is for Spanish Tapas. To start, the atmosphere is simply the best and the service is terrific. Everyone knows tomate con pan is the signature starter for Spain, but Buceo takes it to the next level and adds jamon to it. It is perfection. The next tapas we sampled were: bacon wrapped dates, and tortilla española (omg delish), and we didn’t have the patatas baravas(this time), but the same garlic aioli was used in the Totillas, and it was very tasty. Next, we split the Churrasco, grilled skirt steak. It was perfectly grilled to our liking, seasoning was amazing. I loved everything I ate and drank (red sangria pitcher!!!!), but the skirt steak was the best. Finally, we were able to enjoy the churros for desert. The entire staff was so nice and helpful throughout our dinner. This is our favorite tapas venue in NYC.

Buceo 95, the tapas edition to the Dive family of bars, is a neighborhood gem worth a multi-neighborhood trek and frankly serves some of the best tapas in the city. The only letdown here tends to be the speed of the service, and its evident that one more waiter would be ideal, if only the little room could accommodate another soul without coming to a standstill. Never fear though: just catch manager Johnnies eye (and forgive me if he spells it with a y) and hell drop by to fill the gap and offer the best wine advice north of 65th Street. (Save room for sherry.)

Unimpressed, mediocre tapas, food lacked depth in flavor and poorly executed dishes. Some examples: Octopus smelled and tasted fishy which means it wasn’t fresh. Watery baby scallop dish, shrimp al ajillo was more oil than anything, they don’t clean the shrimp. The paella had good flavor although the color was off (not enough saffron), fried calamari was good…..wouldn’t come back for those two items though.

As a native Spaniard this place was very very very disappointing. We ordered several tapas (tortilla española, patatas bravas, croquetas de pollo y croquetas de queso, calamares fritos, etc) and they each had its own issues. To start, the croquettas were bite size (think the length of two popcorn kernels). The tortilla was completely wrong. The tortilla should be plate sized and slightly undercooked in the center. They give you a small one person tortilla that you can’t share that is smoooothered in mayonnaise. We NEVER put mayonnaise ever on a tortilla. The calamares were clearly old and frozen, they were not fresh and not coated correctly. Overall it was just disappointment followed by disappointment. If you want authentic Spanish tapas go to Tomiño, Casa Galicia, or Circulo Español, this place is a fraud and not tapas.

Buceo has a nice vibe and Ive had some great bartenders there. I havent sampled the food, but the drinks are good. I do wish there were some other scotches and beers to choose from (but thats just based on what I like to drink).

Service was very good, not an issue here at all.Food was overpriced for what was delivered, for the costing the food needed to be perfect.Quail and eggplant tapas was good, but again questionably priced. paella was substandard, dry and little flavour.Despite this the wait staff were great, they were happy to discuss our issues with the paella and reduced the price.

Ambiance was pleasant, music was too loud. The garlic shrimp left a lot to be desired, octopus was scarce and the eggplant was very salty. The highlight was their wine selection. Do not get the sangria.

I came here for dinner. They have a really good wine list and they made good recommendations for our wine choices when we told them our flavor profile. The tapas was really good too I would highly recommend the scallops and the carne Asada. We also tried the bacon wrapped dates but those left me a little cold. The space is smaller but they have some outdoor seating which is on the pavement, and its got a cute look and looks authentic for a tapas bar. Bathrooms are clean and the wait staff is really good. They are busy, one can tell but they made sure our table was bussed and managed, even brought us fresh bread.

Food was great, but couldn’t enjoy dinner because the waiters kept interrupting us. I do like service but this was too extreme. They came every other second and kept looking at our table and the contents, to see if they could be of any service. Which was kind of annoying and not a relaxing dinner experience. They literally took the plates of the table and cleaned the table when we just put the last bite in our mouths. No time to swallow and they already asked if we were ready for desert.

The food is good, but the portion is very small by tapas standard. The paella was particularly small. We spent ~50 per person and weren’t full at all.

My wife and I eat out a lot, and have been to many top rated restaurants in NYC. This is in our top 5 for New York. Incredible menu, always rotatng. Great wine list, casual-higher end feel. Good drinks, amazing food...If your considering coming here, dont hesitate!

I dont want to give a good review of this place because itll be more crowded and then I cant walk in and just get a table. But were moving out of town, so I have to mention it: one of the best restaurants on the UWS. Always has a crowd even on midweek nights. Proprietor works there every night and is super friendly. And the food, oh man - have never had something less than expertly made. The goat cheese croquettes could turn my wife into a shopping cart pusher. Its definitely an adventurous menu, but really good tapas is hard to find, and other than Ella Kitchen at 71st and Columbus, this is the only really good one on the UWS .

I was excited to try this place as its close to my apartment and has a cute outdoor sitting area... While the decor inside is nice and people are indeed friendly, came away very disappointed for the following reasons. 1) Maybe this was an unusual experience, but the service was very very slow... Sat down ~8pm expecting to eat a quick meal and leave in 35-40 min. Instead it took us more than an 1hr 15 min, the check alone taking well over 10 min to get to us, after we asked twice. 2) Portions are very small for the price - of course its tapas, but the sizes of some of the $12-15 dollar plates are crazy small for that price. 3) Food is pretty good but by noo means outstanding for the price.

This place is a gem. My wife disagrees, but I think it got *slightly* worse since they changed chefs, but thats personal. Either way, its a neighborhood gem on the UWS. While the wine selection is good, you MUST have the Spicy Margarita: heavy on the cayenne pepper (just as we like it), itll clear your sinuses then get you with a perfect lime/tequila finish. The dishes are, well, tapas, so theyre perfect for sharing two or three. The paella is the heaviest, and youll want to share that between two with maybe 2-3 other dishes (were fans of the duck with pear, and the blistered peppers). When the check comes, you will be pleasantly surprised by price. For my wife and I, paella, two cocktails, and two other dishes usually comes out to about $100 with tax and tip, and we feel very satisfied and sated.

Cant say enough good about this place. Ive probably had at least 50 different tapas here, although i do tend to be unable to give up long-time favorites. The staff across the board is friendly and super-competent; the wines are well-chosen for variety and distinctiveness; and the menu always introduces new dishes while holding on to many crowd-demanded favorites. In its modest way, one of the very best restaurants on the UWS, and well worth being considered a destination place for those outside the neighborhood.

Visited Buceo 95 last night in search of some good tapas on the UWS – was warmly greeted upon entry and was seated almost immediately, was pleasantly surprised since the restaurant was nearly at capacity. The wine list is long enough to accommodate anyone but, not too long as to discourage you from searching for the perfect wine and there were excellent drink options, also. We ordered a pitcher of sangria – the flavor was excellent but, had a bit of viscosity to it that made it a little less enjoyable. Our food order: Pan con Tomate (tomato spread on garlic bread), Alcachofas (grilled artichokes), Esparragos a la Plancha (grilled Asparagus), Pulpo de Buceo (grilled baby octopus) and a nightly special Bacon wrapped Scallops. The food was fantastic I would recommend everything that we had, everything was cooked to perfection – loved it. The only draw back to this location is the acoustics in the restaurant itself, went on a Tuesday night at 9pm and the restaurant was packed and very loud making it quite difficult to hold a conversation. Regardless, I will definitely be going back.

This is a great spot. Been here twice...for brunch and dinner. On the first visit I had the duck confit...delicious! The only reason they dont get 5 stars is because I had to wait nearly an hour for it. But it was a quiet time and no big deal. Came back this evening and had traditional stuff (tortilla, gambas ajillo) and found the food, service and atmosphere to be spot on. Its as good as any quality tapas bar in Madrid or Barcelona :)

Very popular tapas restaurant in the Upper West Side. The staff was very nice and friendly. The tapas my wife and I tried were generally good although a bit overpriced. The place was quite loud and packed when we went. The atmosphere was cozy and dim.Of the dishes we tried...the Patatas Freitas I ordered was probably the most disappointing.....it literally was $6 potato chips....I guess I was expecting more there. The Coliflor a la Brasa was delicious and highly recommended. Overall, I recommend coming and trying this restaurant out for yourself.

Have enjoyed past experiences @ buceo 95 over several years but last night wasnt one of them. I had a nice dinner outside last night with my wife. This place has a surprisingly large selection of vegetarian tapas (about 15 options, or about half the menu). Here are the dishes we ordered, best first: Ensalada Matrimonio (kale salad), Piquillos Rellenos (small cheese stuffed peppers), Tortilla Española, Coles de Bruselas (roasted brussel sprouts), and Gambas al Ajillo (shrimp in garlic sauce). I never thought a kale salad could be so good. Gambas al Ajillo is my wifes favorite Spanish dish and it was the only disappointment of the night. If she had liked it, this place would have earned a five star rating. If/when we go back, Id happily re-order the kale salad, stuffed peppers, and the tortilla española. The sangria was also very good. The service was prompt, with the exception of waiting about 10 minutes to get the check. This is NYC, people have places to be.
