I’ve been to City Winery for a number of events from comedy shows to concerts and it’s a great experience every time. As far as food, the hot honey pizza is my go-to.Most recent event I attended was Jerrod Carmichael in the Loft upstairs and he delivered on his unique, at times awkward but always heartfelt brand of comedy. Will definitely be back soon for Jon B.
Heres a more polished review of the place:---I recently visited a venue that hosted a comedy show, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The venue itself is really nice, with a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. We had table at the back despite of that we had great view of the performance. The comedians were outstanding—super funny and kept the audience engaged throughout the night. The performance was top-notch, and it’s clear that the venue brings in quality talent. The food was also a highlight. Although the menu isn’t extensive, every item we tried was delicious. They’ve clearly focused on quality over quantity, and it shows. As for the cocktails, they were expertly crafted. You can really taste the difference between a cocktail made with cheap liquor and one made with high-quality ingredients, and here, it’s definitely the latter. The mixology is impressive, and each drink was a treat.Overall, I’m definitely planning to return for another show. This place is a great spot for a fun night out
A cool location to get some good wine and yummy food. We enjoyed getting a wine flight to pair with the delicious truffle fries. We also got the lobster risotto. It was great, but maybe has just a tad too much lemon flavor. Overall, its a cool venue but is a bit pricey. I would want to try to catch a comedy show there sometime.
Beautiful venue. I love the reservation process. You locate where you want to sit. A hostess escorts you to your seat. I was next to the stage. I had the Pineapple Mint Margarita. It was delicious (a must have). I ordered the grilled shrimp. I was still hungry so I also ordered the Kale Cesar Salad (it really is spinach). It was delicious. I went to see The Ton3s aka The Hamiltones. The show started on time. Their performance was great. They engaged well with the audience. The crowd was a vibe. I had a great time. I will be back.
NYC SKA Orchestra Brunch at City Winery was definitely an experience I enjoyed. The Loft area is extremely intimate and the Orchestra was great! We all had a wonderful time and will visit again
Had an INCREDIBLE experience at the Prince Wine Tasting and Music Pairing event! Such a great concept. Heard great Prince stories, listened to some of my favorite Prince jams, met new Prince Fams, and drank LOTS OF WINE! Can’t wait until the next one.
While we were walking around Chelsea, we decided to get some dinner. We found this restaurant in Pier 57. We got there early so it was not as busy, but about the time we left, it was mostly full everywhere. As the name suggests, they have lots of wines here. In the back dining area, they have wines on the tap, which was pretty cool. We had a nice view of the water and the Little Island from our table! How cool is that?We started off with a couple of cocktails. A Sunny Day In Paris was nice and strong, sweet and fruity. Very tropical, nice drink! Then, Pineapple Mint Margarita had a nice sweetness to it from pineapple, with refreshing mint flavor, great combination!Since we were at the winery, we decided to get a Flight of Wines. We went with Classic Flight. Riesling, Rosé, Pinot Noir, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Riesling was not as sweet as I thought. Rosé was crisp and light, Pinot had full flavor, and Cab was deep and hint of oak.For food, we ordered Poke Bowl and Truffle Fries. Poke Bowl. It was fresh and juicy, great assortment of ingredients that works perfectly together. The Truffle Fries had amazing aroma and flavor of truffle, so addicting! We added Kung Pao Cauliflower and Duck Tacos. Kung Pao Cauliflower was pretty good! Duck Tacos came with two tacos. It was packed with flavor. We had a really nice dinner here. The hostess and server were friendly and polite. They have a nice cocktail and food selection, and we enjoyed everything we ordered. And, the view is really unique. The location is convenient, right next to the Little Island and nearby Chelsea market. You can do some window shopping and get some walk before and/or after the meal.
While the venue is great, I was charged incorrectly on my credit card. Be sure you only use cash and check your statement. My printed bill was $67. I was charged $60 twice then $127. After reaching out to Sarah at guest services, I was told this is a pre-authorization charge. Pre-authorizations are held temporarily to cover any incidental expenses that may occur during your visit, such as gratuities or additional orders. I find that very dismissive. This is my 3rd time visiting City Winery and this has never happened before. Why a hold for $127 for a duck taco and 2 glasses of wine? Thats an odd amount plus $60 twice. PAY CASH OR BETTER YET SAVE YOURSELF THE HEADACHE AND AVOID THIS PLACE.
Nice chill vibes. Grown & definitely sexy. Venue is amazing. Great water front views. Drinks were SUPERB!
Went for a viewing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show for Pride. As you can see, so much fun. I enjoyed the experience a lot. Food and drinks were decent, I expected them to be kinda pricey (and they were). I did not like that they stashed the tables so close to each other. Other than that, had a good time
Amazing location in the pier with great views of the river and lively ambience. The food options was limited and some of the portions were small to be shared as suggested but I it was delicious. Local Craft beer options and wide variety of wines
First, a million stars for Tituss Burgess, but that goes without saying.A great, intimate venue (although the seating is quite tight). The Kale Caesar salad was absolutely perfect. Its not mentioned on the menu, but my server offered the option to add chicken, shrimp, or another protein. I wish I had known about this option ahead of time, because then I might not have made the mistake of ordering the margherita pizza. You cant go wrong with pizza in NY, right?Wrong. The sauce was so bland that it felt like it was just plain tomato sauce. Not even a single grain of garlic powder?! The mozzarella cheese was not soft at all and seemed extremely processed. The crust was decent, but the pizza itself was so disappointing. My friend had the duck tacos, and said they were really good. The service was decent but I sat with my completed plate in front of me for a long time, and it took some time for us to get our check once the show was over. We were done eating long before intermission, so this could have been taken care of sooner.Minor complaints, I suppose...thus the four stars. And again, a really nice venue.
Saw Bryan Scary this year. He was awesome and my group of friends unfortunately missed him .Can’t wait for his return. The venue at city winery is perfect for a more intimate concert and the food and service was outstanding. Bring back Bryan Scary!!!
The performances are great! The premier seating has you packed to 4 ppl at a table with 4 more strangers right next to you..almost on top of you. If you order food you will elbow someone in the face trying to cut your meat! You can put your appetizers on the stage if you need more space on your 1/4 of the table 🙄
The wine was very pleasant and well priced - I suggest you order a bottle and won’t regret it. The food was also very nice and with good flavor and selection for veg options (which positively surprised me).I appreciated the most the atmosphere and the slow pace of the place, as we sat down for 4 hours and nobody pushed us to leave until we finished all our dishes. Def a great night!
Spacious spot with great wine and food. Saw Robert Wood Jr. at the second floor loft. Tickets for performances are reasonable, usually $30-40. Come early for dinner and for good seats!
I came in primarily for just a wine tasting, and I absolutely loved my first experience here. Nivea was my sommelier, and she was so friendly and helpful. I got to taste five wines for only $20 + tax, which was pretty darn good. Once you are done with the tasting, you have an option to buy the bottles of the ones you like. The inside of this place is beautiful, and they have a food menu to go along with the tasting. Further down past the wine tasting area, they have a Bistro that I visited as well. At this location, I ordered a flight, and I sat outside to get a beautiful view of the water and Little Island across the way. The next time I visit, I will be sure to take advantage of either viewing the live entertainment or just enjoy a meal at the Bistro with some of their really good wine.
We attended the Jonathan Butler show and as usual he put on a spectacular performance! The high top seats offered a perfect view of spacious, yet intimate venue and stage. We found the acoustics to be quite impressive. We had a bit of a wait to place an order and there was a mix up with our drink order, but the food was worth the wait. The manager came over and greeted our table, apologized for the delay and offered us a dessert on the house. The warm chocolate chip cookie with ice cream was to die for! We look forward to returning for another show soon.
First time attending City Winery NY and definitely will be back..Parking is very easy which is right next to the venue. The venue is absolutely stunning. The staff there made you feel so comfortable. Its a intimate seating which allowes the entertainer to interact with the crowd. The food was amazing. We ordered truffle fries, mushroom pizza and cauliflower. To top it off the bottle of Resling we order went perfect with the meal. One of the staff walked over to use when we first sat down and offered us a taste test of what ever we wanted to try,.which was very generous. Our waiter was very informative of the menu what she felt was best to try.Thank you to everyone that made a wonderful experience for me and my bestie
Unfortunately, my second visit to City Winery was deeply disappointing. I brought four friends along, expecting another great experience, but the service fell far short of expectations. We had to repeatedly ask for basic items like water, plates, and drinks, many of which never arrived. Our table was wobbly, and we ended up having to fix it ourselves. At one point, a candle fell off the table, creating a potential hazard. We cleaned it up ourselves to avoid any accidents, but even after requesting someone to sweep the area for safety, the staff ignored our request. To make matters worse, we were charged for drinks and food that never arrived. When we tried to address our concerns, the manager was dismissive and never returned to follow up on our complaints. This level of service was unacceptable and not what I’ve come to expect from City Winery. Unfortunately, this experience has left me hesitant to return or recommend the venue in the future.
Nice dinner & show venue, I will definitely be returning for a daytime event as well since it looks like there is a very nice view across the water.
My first time there at City Winery. I enjoyed the show Maui, the poet. Great atmosphere, pleasant staff, good food and I definitely will be back.
Second time here and had a great time. Beautiful venue, great sound system, good vibes all around!
I wish every band/comedian/show went to this venue. First time going but oh gosh it was phenomenal. So personal and cozy. We were up in the balcony with a perfect view. Sound was great. Got to sit down and enjoy food and drink. Had a margarita pizza, truffle fries, and risotto balls and they were all great which was surprising!! I wasnt expecting it to be great but was pleasantly surprised. Definitely want to go back ASAP. All the workers were also so kind and attentive. Overall such great vibes. Very intimate. Will say there werent really vegan things on the menu but they were able to accommodate my friend by adjusting some of the items.
This was our first time at the city winery. We attended the Strawberry Fields Labor Day brunch. The band was excellent. I can’t get Beatles songs out of my head now. The food was delicious. The staff was great. The place was very nice. The location was perfect with lots to see and do. We had a wonderful time! I highly recommend going there and seeing this show especially if you are a fan of the Beatles. We purchased the Strawberry Fields wine as well as their Cabernet. My husband and I can’t wait to try it.
The Loft at the City Winery is a great venue for jazz performances! We recently saw Curtis Stiger and John Sneider perform to a sold out crowd. Their performances were fantastic and the food ,service and ambiance was outstanding.
Ive been to City Winery five times. Its a wonderful venue for live music and comedy. Id love it if there were one or two vegan options on the menu--a veggie burger on a vegan bun at the very least. I do appreciate that our server made an effort to accommodate me by modifying vegetarian dishes. Unfortunately, service was rather slow and haphazard. Also, patrons were required to insert their phones in locked cases, which prevented me from paying with my Seated app.
I have had many wonderful nights here. Its amazing to see such incredible musicians in such an intimate setting. Also, the food is always great. I highly recommend.
Cool spot for a show. I saw the Fabulous Thunderbirds and they sounded amazing. Great drinks and food. Loved the seating plus easy access bathrooms, a bar and wine for home purchase. A bit far for those of us on the East Side but worth the trip.
I gave the City Winery a five star review last Summer and after sitting in the balcony for The Jerry Douglas Band concert last night, I am giving them another 5 Star review. The balcony seats are padded, very comfortable, nicely spaced out, and there are only about 2 dozen seats up there. The view and the sound were excellent and the bathroom is nearby and not crowded. There is a dedicated waiter and server who are never in the way as can be an issue downstairs at times and you don’t have to listen to the conversations of other tables as is sometimes the case downstairs. The concert was great and I will be back!
I attended Does concert here the other night which was just amazing.the price of concert tickets is great, especially for VIP. The rose pilot noir was delicious. I enjoyed the hot honey pizza however, the potatoes couldve been more nicely prepared, in the photo it looked as though they wouldve been cooked in the cast iron pan but you could tell they were just placed in there after the fact.Definitely get there on the early side to get a nice choice of seats as some are less comfortable than others. Overall I enjoyed the experience.
The writers read show is spectacular! I was so impressed the first time i came Hair and equally impressed this time. ChangeThe venue is very comfortable and you can see and hear from anywhere. Staff is most accomodating and pleasant ( not easy handling variety of checks at one table.) air conditioning is GREAT!!Food and wine choices perfect.I always talk it up. Very special place snd i love Writers Read.
Shared a bottle of wine w friends on a late night. very nice vibes. literally passed out momentarily because i was so sleepy. i love my friends. i love wine. nice warm and comforting atmosphere inside
Came here to see Leonid and Friends and was not disappointed by the band OR the venue. Nicely appointed, pleasant staff, endless kinds of wine and an all around fun place.Next time I would sit a just a tad further back, as being on top of the stage, with a group as full of energy as Leonid, it does get a tad loud. BUT never distorted. We did not eat any food as we had eaten earlier but the wait staff seemed quite amiable and we were NEVER made to feel like we HAD to order food or drink. Complimentary water was on the table. All in all a great afternoon. Would return to City Winery any time another group we like appears there. Well run and it shows!
Experienced an amazing time at this venue the staff was amazing. I had an amazing chicken caesar salad that tasted authentic from Tijuana Mexico. It was so damn good.
Last Sunday we came to listen to some great music by NYC ska Orchestra. Music was great, but service was horrible. They forgot to process our order, but brought French fries with truffles. Later they processed the order, and when we received it it’s wasn’t eatable at all! We left everything! I noticed that that other tables had some food left untouched. For two days, all of us had an upset stomach. So we had a “great” weekend…
We had a wonderful time at City Winery in NY. The seating was great, atmosphere was beautiful. We wil definitely return, highly recommend visiting for all concert needs.
Our waiter was very nice and polite, providing good service. The wine selection was also good, with great prices. However, I would not recommend the food. It was average and really not worth eating there. My partner and I ordered the patatas bravas, which arrived after our main courses. Not only were they late, but they were also raw and swimming in a pool of grease—definitely unappetizing. For our main course, we ordered the Wagyu burgers. Unfortunately, they were cold when we received them, and the French fries, while initially crunchy, became hard like sticks as they cooled down. Overall, it’s a place I’d suggest visiting for drinks, but I’d recommend heading elsewhere for food.
Food taste was alright. Portion was small. Price was a bit high. Service was friendly and fast. Atmosphere was nice since we sat outside and it was a nice day. The boardwalk is wide so you don’t have the smell the sweaty joggers. You can see the Little Islands too. You could go up and have a nice view of the surrounding. Overall pretty solid, just wish the food was better.
Went to City Winery Friday September 20,2024 to see Jonathan Butler. As always he performed an amazing show and we thoroughly enjoyed as we sang along with him. Great seats .Wait service was a little slow but the show amazing. It was date nite for us and we also enjoyed the company of our table mates. Cant wait to go back.
Went to City Winery to see a comedy performance. There is table service during the show, though we arrived early and ate in the waterside dining room. The Winery has a great view (be prepared for some sun in the evening 🙂). Their menu and food was really good, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. For their venue, they have a pretty good mix of performers, including Seth Meyers in June. Definitely a cool discovery!
Saw a show in the main room and was willing to try the layout for the talent, but I wouldn’t go back. The way the tables are set make it very hard to see past others to the stage, you have to turn your head the whole time (depending on where you are), and everything is very tight. Food was a fine quality, but very expensive considering the blah atmosphere. Proceed with caution!
Its a beautiful place, the food is delicious, the show was awesome. The view of the city is gorgeous and the new Hudson Park is amazing! Great walk through after our dinner and show. Definitely a return in line with other couples and even with my mom to see a fave singer of hers.
We had a very nice evening. Intimate venue. Service was good—attentive and professional. Food was just ok and quite pricey. Be aware, though, if you have food allergies. One in our party has some severe food allergies. Server was notified. This person did not enjoy the evening due to their allergic reaction. Perhaps due to cross contamination. Be aware.
I went here last night to see T Murphy comedian.its a nice space but I feel like its a bit cramped at the group tables.I understand the sharing of tables at thesecomedy shows but The literally sqeeze you in too tight. I was also very aggravated with the loud talking from people at a nearby table it was very disturbing. Even the comedian had to hush them and I asked if I could move to another seat so I could hear and that was fine but could still hear them.Another situation where people were recording. And even the comedian had to tell them to stop even the same girl twice, so they know they are not supposed to do it and sill doing it?Disrupting the show..So I take off 2 stars because the staff should make clear announcement at the beginning of the show if anyone recording or talking you will be told to leave and actually enforce that rule period...I dont know if I will go back i have been to better comedy shows without this issue
Beautiful venue! Saw Lalah Hathaway perform! She was wonderful! Nice sized venue, with an upper level for additional seating and another performance area. Loved the decoration of the wine bottle display in the stairway. Didnt sample the food, but the drinks were delicious and potent! Would definitely go again.
Exceptional location, staff are great and welcoming, beautiful scenery. Came to see Bilal and had a wonderful time. The food was good but they are all tapas so small plates, the price is what you would pay for an entree. Drinks were good. My only ick was how close your sitting next to one another if your there for an event. Definitely recommend paying extra to sit separately.
Went to a comedy show and had an amazing time. The place was nicely decorated, love the relaxed and intimate ambiance, the show and the food. I also loved the company I had. We had a wonderful evening!
I do like City Winery. Been several times and the shows are great. 3 stars due to the menu change. Its awful. No more regular burgers. Gotta have it w/brie and whatever else. Waiter said they wont make it the way you want. Friends ordered the pork belly SALAD to share. They were floored to find 2 pieces of grilled baby romaine (TWO)! While it tasted great, it most definitely wasnt a salad. Guess Ill just order fries from now on. Think its trying too hard to have fancy food. Not for me. Not impressed.
The atmosphere is great! Such a delightful place to be. I was there for the Chappel Carpenter night and I never felt so safe. It was basically only girls night. Water was free for all.The drinks were thematic, but for a girls night, and a drink called “pink pony tail” be almost 100% lime it was kinda disappointing. Next time, make something like a cranberry vodka with some eatable glitter. The security staff also didn’t wanted to let me in after check my ID saying that” 2001 you can’t be here” 2001 was 23 years ago.Had to talk with the other staff and then I could enjoy my night.Lovely place, definitely want to come back to try some wine and food.
Table crowded/limited space, auto-ordering via QR table code failed, food prices exorbitant. Sound system great. Restrooms too small.
Very beautiful venue with an intimate setting which was perfect to see Sherri Shepherd live! They stopped serving drinks and food before the 10:30pm show even ended, which surprised me but there is a bar and restaurant food available. The food and drinks were pretty average but the show was great!
First time at this place to see a concert. The venue is beautiful, the wine and drinks were great. The food was delicious. The cherry on top was our server Mya with the purple highlights ( I hope I spelled her name right) who was phenomenal. She was sweet, accommodating, extremely informative and really just great. She made my first experience a lasting one. I WILL be back. Thanks for everything young lady
I love the City winery downstairs the upstairs the loft the sound is coming out of the place is great. The Musicians the top rated Talent the staff is great love going there simply love it
I truly don’t know where to start the winery sits by the water with an amazing view. There’s a greenery area right next to it 💚.When entering the winery the lighting is perfect and the set is simple but chic. As we entered the winemaking room where the live performance took the dim lights with little soft lights sitting on the table was chefs kiss.Visiting this location and also catching a live performance was definitely my highlight of my trip to NYC. Parking was easy and simple (for a few) they do have a parking garage attached to the building. When dinning we ordered the duck tacos 🌮 ‼️ OMG they were so delicious 🤤 I forgot to record a video of them before I started eating 🤭. Drink wise I didn’t do anything fancy I ordered a Mimosa to keep it simple.I highly recommend visiting the City Winery 10/10Follow me on TikTok @tttaaannniiitttaaaFacebook Group: Sincerely Travel
A wonderful event venue. I came for an event with Women in Retail Leadership and it was fantastic!A wonderful day with great food, speakers, etc. the venue was comfortable, had a beautiful view and spacious.
I came to city winery for Taylor Swift night wearing my very favorite leather jacket and someone stole it. Despite ample security and cameras at the event, no one could help me locate it or get it back. Not a safe space 💔
I love this venue. Great sound and its very comfortable. A few popular New York venues can be cramped, but here you can sit comfortably. They always have amazing artists performing. The ambiance is amazing and for me, its very Uber/Lyft friendly because its right off of the Westside Highway when I need to get to and from there. My only gripe about this place is Im not sure if its the servers or the kitchen, but twice (once in February and again this past Tuesday), I never received my food. I received my wine both times but not my food. In February, I was early and placed my order before the show even started. So once the show started, my waitress came to check on the table and I let her know, I was still waiting on my order after about 30 minutes. She was very apologetic about it. However, she didnt return until about 20 mins later to tell me that they had run out of what I ordered and asked if I wanted something else. At that point, I was quietly frustrated and just told her no I didnt want anything else as we are now beyond an hour from when I ordered and the show is half way over, so to just remove the charge. She again was very apologetic and then another server brought another glass of the wine I had on the house for my inconvenience. On this past Tuesday, I arrived just as the show was starting and the waiter came pretty quickly to take my order. Like before, my glass of wine came immediately. About an hour later, I was so engulfed in the amazing show and good time with my friends, I had just realized...my order hadnt come and I hadnt seen the waiter again within that time. The next time I saw the waiter was when he was bringing everyone their bills. I let him know that I never received my food and he seemed a bit frustrated (not with me though). He apologized and gave me my glass of wine on the house. So, Im not sure where the disconnect is happening, but all I can say for both times, it was a good thing I wasnt super hungry. Other than that, its truly a great venue and I will be keep going back when they have my favorite artists.
We had a great 4th of July at @CityWinery. The views were incredible. The band was great. The indoor music and guests were great. I will say that the DJ on the rooftop had my ears bleeding. I would have preferred patriotic music, yacht rock, summer classics, or dance classics overall as opposed to the noise I wouldnt even classify as music. The DJ was playing for himself and not the crowd. It was great that dessert was offered at the end of the night however a coffee station to go with the dessert would have been appreciated. Lastly, I think $20 per glass of wine was a bit excessive, but once we figured that out we purchased a bottle.
Always great artists performances offered in programming. The service has been slow each time I go there in the past and on 8/1. The food is just ok and overpriced. The cocktails were good but not a lot of variety beers and wine list ok for glasses offered,
We saw a comedy show here. The venue was great and we enjoyed the show. The video below shows the set up of the main stage room. Also note for our show, it was first come first serve seating, so would try to show up early to select a good seat with your party.
Saw Vivian Green and the show was great I had such a good time. The service I works give a 2 the waitress was all over the place I waited a very long time as well as the other cities at the table for our order and I had to keep flashing her down to let her know I had not received my drink nor my food. After the show started I finally received my drink and fries after she went and got it then was given a second order as well. City Winery is a nice spot Ive been for the burlesque shows and the service was better. Overall I really enjoyed the show and will definitely be returning.
I just went to my second show and it was so incredible! The sound is amazing and the views of the stage can’t be beat! And wine while you’re listening to great live music - incredible! The octopus was delicious (although small), and the Cabernet Sauvignon was ok, a little too fruity for my tastes, but next time I’ll try a different wine, because I’m definitely going back!
Great venue to watch shows. Intimate and cozy. Good food. Great selection of wines.
City winery was one of the best musical experiences I have had in years. Good wine every seat is incredible musical talent insane location very accessible. Surpassed expectations all in all, can’t wait to return - music listings at this locale will be the first thing I check when I return to nyc🙏🏼🙏🏼🤙🏼
What a great place! They have an upstairs area, a large event space a side bar and a back dining area with views of Little Island and Hoboken. We had risotto and goat cheese balls, the kale caesar salad, the sausage and honey flatbread two wine flights and I got a nice paso robles cab, and a bottle of wine from the from gift shop area. Dinner was a leisurely pace and we spent about 2 hours there, which was perfect. They had concert by candlelight event that looked really nice but we were there just for dinner. I would absolutely recommend this place and will happily return ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
A great venue - The Loft - with James Maddock and his band.Love the format of tables and food/drink service.
What great space and atmosphere! The staff was welcoming, friendly and attentive. Atmosphere was amazing! Thank you…..it was my first visit. Looking forward to coming back!
Amazing concert experience that is indoor. Not a large space but more intimate setting. The Strawberry Fields brunch/music was amazing. I believe they did the Broadway show tour, if I am not mistaken. They did an amazing job with the music. The waitress, Jules (sorry if I misspelled her name) was sweet and attentive. The concert is 1.5 hours long and it includes a small breakfast buffet with coffee and tea. You can purchase alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages but it’s not included in the price you pay. I recommend this for a good time and if you are a Beatles fan, definitely go. Strawberry fields forever ❤️🍓City winery also has a restaurant. I will come back 🥰
City Winery is cool - Ive been multiple times. This is specifically a review for last night for the All Time Low show, their 20th anniversary show, which makes me feel old as I say it.I dont know why I make decisions like this, but I ordered a margarita at a winery. Just order the wine. Its always the better choice. Or even beer - they have torch and crown, easy. The reason I am giving it four stars in because the AC was broken, and it has been for three weeks. And we were all sweating our tails off.Food was good - lamb meatballs are skippable, but the cauliflower, dont skip.
My wife and I went to see Larry Campbell and Teresa Williams, two extraordinary musicians. Other than some confusion about where the adjacent parking lot was, the entire experience was top notch. The venue is beautiful, clean and the staff super friendly. The food is the usual club food. The seating is spacious enough to relax in. The sound was superior. Our waiter, Parker, was extremely friendly and helpful. One word: The tip suggestions on the printed receipt end where the tip suggestions when you pay with a credit card begin. Wait until you pay to decide an amount.
Went there for the first time and had a wonderful time! Liked the lighting, mood, and intimacy during the comedy show. Only thing that was okay ish were the chairs. Not the most comfortable but otherwise great!
This was my first visit to the new site, I loved the old one. The new facility is even better, much more space around the tables and yet still has that intimate feeling with the performers and stage close by. As I experienced in the the former location the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The food and drinks are excellent with generous portions and more importantly quite tasty. The Pad Thai was delicate and nice and the duck tacos were superb. The sound from the stage was likely to be excellent for the less energetic performers but I was there for Living Color last night and sound quality was not the most important aspect for that show. Bottom line (no pun intended), this is the best venue in NYC and probably in the top few for the nation.
Ive been here for three shows - Keke Wyatt in July, Musiq Soulchild in August, and TIs comedy show in October. ALL ACTS WERE STELLAR.Now City Winerys menu and wait staff Is the reason for 3 Star rating. I think they need to switch the menu up with more appealing options and improve shared portion sizes. It took a waiter 30 minutes to come to our table and offer us water. Theyre so rushed that they come off as abrasive at times. Three is a Charm, I dont know if Id come back here unless I was seated in the taller seats as their floor seats are arranged tightly and are uncomfortable for me. Otherwise it is a nice intimate performance venue.
Its a nice romantic spot for a date. It was low key and quiet so you can talk and get to know each other the food was decent enough and the drinks are good.
First impressions are always lasting ones. City Winery was an amazing experience. The Afrocentric sites of Managers and staff were a welcoming and calming vibe. Demola was entertaining and lovable! I will come again!
Worth the wait! What a beautiful new location and set up! My husband may call me a traitor, but I love the new location!!! Saw Raul Malo, the Impossible burger was good, the sparkling wine even better!
Had an Awesome time!!!! Beautiful venue. Staff very accommodating. The band and singers turned it out. It was my 70th birthday celebration with friends. We shook some tail feathers🤣the band and promoter were gracious enough to let us take pictures with band afterwards!!! I will remember forever this birthday!!! Oh and the lead singer sounds almost identical to Teddy!❤️
Service was excellent and with a genuine smile. Free wine samples... Bottles of wine for sale to take home. I had the roasted chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy, pattypan squash and carrots. For dessert, I HIGHLY recommend the Smores Creme Brule!!! I dont even like Creme Brule. I only got it because it sounded so unique. I was not disappointed... very different, still very sweet, but it was excellent with the cup of coffee. Go at sunset and you get even more for your money! The pics I posted are from the lower floor. Im certain the loft views are even more impressive.
The venue is awesome, anywhere you sit you are able to enjoy the show.ni say Demola who was awesome! The food wasnt to my liking, the duck tacos were dry and didnt have any flavor. The spacing of the seating leaves alot to be desired. Overall I had a great experience and would go again.
My fiance and I came into the City Winery on Tuesday evening when I caught Shams (a beautiful tan man with a beard) eating fries off of my plate and even dipping the fries in my ketchup. I was deeply disturbed by this as you can imagine. I didnt want to make a scene but this really needs to be addressed!!
Wanted to see joey Diaz here, but read the reviews first, andrew dorf owns this place? He seemed like a great owner in Miami, as a friend of ron bates and paul C, Im not dealing with the headache here, though, if they obviously dont care enough to do anything about all these complaints. bummer. Ill have to see him at the other venue hes performing at, even if the tickets are 4 times as much.
My Daughter & I visited City Winery for the Beatles Brunch, featuring the Beatles tribute band Strawberry Fields this past Sunday. I must say that we had a fantastic time! The venue, food, service, and especially the entertainment were excellent. Dont hesitate to go here even if youre a so-so Beatles fan; the performance was amazing. The band members are extremely accomplished and did an excellent job of re-creating a live Beatles show. There is plenty of room to dance and meet people from all over the world. It is a great family atmosphere as well. Use the MPG or Parwhiz app to get an inexpensive spot in the garage directory below the venue. When the show is over, walk the Hudson River Park or walk 1 block and check out the Chelsea Market or to take a stroll on the Highline if the weather permits. Bravo, City Winery!
Fantastic venue for events and comedy nights!Got to attend Wednesday night special - vir das experimented his new jokes.
Venue is incredible Layla Hathaway was amazing, we had excellent seats. However service was lacking we may have asked 4 waiters for a drink before we got service. Also, I spotted a $30 bottle of wine. that I wanted to try but when I ordered it in the back it turned into a $60 bottle of wine which is a crazy up charge but I ordered it anyway. Overall I’ll go back again.
I worked in this building when it was a bus depot. Amazing transformation of the space. I think its a great place to see a show. A little cramped but Ive been in worse. Decent food and good wine made for an enjoyable evening with Dave Alvin and Jimmie Dale Gilmore. Ive already purchased tickets for future shows.
Extremely loud bar service throughout the show made it very difficult (but not impossible) to enjoy the show we paid for. This was my first time at City Winery and I foolishly assumed the venue would respect the performing guest and attendees by not shaking and clinking and pouring during the performance but I was wrong. I’ve attended shows with drink/dinner service throughout and have never ever encountered this. Not sure if I will be back.
Great atmosphere; ideal for your next work event.
Seeing soft machine for the first in 10 years great venue. Sound good the loft is ideal although a little cramped, I was in seat 8A. The reason for only 4 stars towards the end of the performance the waitress decided to stand infront of me while trying to get payment from another customer. Somewhat spoiled the encore.
We had lunch here today. The food was OK, but the menu was weird – we struggled to find things to order. The most problematic part of the experience with the vibe. Smelly, weird, slow service, it just felt rundown or poorly managed overall. Not a bad experience, but probably won’t come back.
Just an average place to get a glass of wine. Really limited wine list by the glass and food is really average. If you are looking for a stop on the west side highway that isnt terribly crowded, this place works but dont go there if you want to really get a nice glass of wine.
Charming, warm and inclusive atmosphere right down the street from Chelsea Piers. Tap and estate, corked wines. I had the tap Malbec and it was lovely and a 750 was only like 60 bucks, very reasonable by any Manhattan standards. We paired the wine with their charcuterie offering and risotto balls, both of which complimented the Malbec perfectly. The entertainment was Janie Barnett, who delivered a world-class performance of Cole Porter classics and obscurities. She was accompanied by a seven-piece band and it was fantastic musicianship and music. The spot is huge too. Has a big bar and lounge area for just daily customers wanting to split the atom with a friend over something bold, dry (and red, if youre me). Theres also a giant stage and auditorium space too that hosts their bigger draws, I suppose. Parking was cake and the bill was not outrageous at all, given the quality of entertainment, the food and the vibes.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the Valerie June concert at the City Winery last night (6/13). We had excellent seats, Valerie was wonderful, and the service and the food were very good. It was a very enjoyable experience overall.
Best shrimp ceviche Ive had. Red sangria wasnt so good white was much better. Duck tacos are delish. Food is on point and variety of wines is excellent. Outdoor and indoor seating offer beautiful views of hudson and the little island. Will def be back.
I really liked the atmosphere of the place. You can get a nice view to the water. Wine was nice. Food was good too. Very tasty fig pizza, very unusual combination of ingredients. It is not what I wanted to order but waitress recommended to try. I would definitely like to come back, especially when it is warmer.
Do NOT come here with your kids. Was told by the sous chef, Leon, that we’d be better off in the restaurant area because of our kids and was not welcome for a quick class of wine on the bar area. It was insulting and embarrassing…my one year old was asleep in the stroller and my almost 5 year old wasn’t making a peep — no reason to make us feel unwelcome. We left immediately.
This place seems like a wonderful place to go for brunch. The food and drinks were good although the price seemed a bit high for the amount served. We also had to wait over an hour to get seated. We were supposed to get a text when our table was ready but we never received it we had to ask them to be seated. The waitress was very nice. The place is very aesthetic but the tall tables were a bit small and some chairs didn’t have a footrest bar so my feet were dangling. At the end would recommend this place but wouldn’t necessarily go back since there is so much to explore in NYC
Two sit down music venues. Both with solid acoustics and a good vibe. Taking a walk around the roof (public space/park) is a great way to catch a sunset before the shows. Reasonably priced drinks and table service at shows.
City Winery overall, is a nice experience, except for the fact that they have people piled on top of each other, and I hate people all up in my personal space. You cant even share a table with a person when their food arrives because everything is so squished together! Please fix it!
This low rating is strictly from the service we received from Jose R. Not only did I have to basically beg him for my drink several times. I had to get out of my seat and walk over to the bar to ask for it. Several tables that came in after me received their drinks before me. He basically forgot about us. Once he dropped off the check we asked him for to go boxes. ONCE AGAIN, HE FORGOT 😒😒😒. We waited and waited and waited for our boxes. He never brought them. We had to flag down another server for help. He needs to either be retrained or let go. Our experience wasnt a good one due to his poor service!
I went to see Vivian Green. This venue was wonderful. Food, drinks, service and location was amazing. All the staff that I encountered that night were very friendly. I will definitely go back.
Great venue, food and wine! We had excellent seats to see Lauren Monroe & her husband Rick Allen....at a very affordable price! The sound was awesome as well! Highly recommend!
City Winery rose is a quintessentially Provence-style rose wine, light & floral yet just a little juicy. Another commenter posted about a wine tasting flight, so maybe Ill do that at some point! Sorry to hear about the closure of the Grand Central location, but life goes on (or maybe itll reopen at some point)!
Nice venue, however its time to change the menu offerings. Add a few more vegan options. How about offering a veggie burger of some sort!
Perfect place to go see a show or a band and also enjoy great food. Took my Mom to see Sugar Sammy, a comedian from Québec. She had the lobster risotto which was fabulous and I had the chimichurri steak. These are tapas style dishes so small and easily shared. Our waitress was fantastic and the show was a lot of fun. Location is next to Little Island on Pier 57. A wonderful place to come early to spend a few hours before dinner and the show.
We had the pleasure of exploring City Winery – what an incredible destination! The art gallery left us in awe with its stunning displays. Our culinary journey included indulging in the mouthwatering mushroom pizza and delectable desserts. Additionally, we savored the Classic wine tasting, reveling in the delightful flavors of each selection. The food surpassed our expectations, showcasing excellence in every bite. Overall, we were captivated by the beauty and warmth of the venue, and the staffs kindness only added to our delightful experience.
I had an awesome time.Nice crowd, nice atmosphere and very friendly waiter.
First time at City Winery , great venue , super hot inside the main room . Id suggest a dozen industrial ceiling fans to move some air . Unfortunately our food was Ehhhh .... Pizza was great , Lobster rizoto was pretty good with large chunks of lobster . The bummer were the Wagyu sliders , they initially came out cold , had to send them back 4 times as they just continued to come out cold . Our waitress was embarrassed , but we made the best of it , she was not to blame . She offered us a desert for free , my daughter chose the deep dish cookie with ice cream on top . The cookie was so hard and burnt it was not eatable . We will definitely come back , but will likely have dinner before we arrive .
From the Jersey Shore! Leonid and Friends were amazing, but I really want to say how much we felt welcomed by all the staff at City Winery.. Met Brook landing there and made us feel welcomed! Thank you Brook! You went above and Beyond! The entire experience was sincere and I can’t believe how fast the food came out! The burger was off the charts. The girl that served our table was so patient, everyone from the minute we entered the doors were kind and helpful for 3 Clueless girls from the Jersey Shore” Thank You for an amazing job-well done🇺🇸 Thank You! I hope when you come to the Jersey Shore we show you as much class, you did to us! Can’t wait to come back to NYC❤️
I went to see Kevin Ross at the NYC Winery! Amazing! Sound system was great, and every seat is a good seat. I wish there were more food choices, but overall had a great experience and would return. I definitely cannot wait to see Kevin Ross again!
I had the pleasure of seeing Sugar Sammy perform at City Winery at Pier 57 on Saturday night, and it was one of the best stand-up comedy shows I’ve ever attended. His performance was sharp, hilarious, and had the entire audience in stitches from start to finish.City Winery was the perfect venue for this event, stylish, great food and with excellent service. The staff was attentive and made the experience even better. I highly recommend catching a show here if you get the chance. Overall, a fantastic night out!
I have been there twice; first time was to see Radel Ortiz which was a great show. Food was ok drinks not good! Second time was to see Jess Hilarious great performance. Food horrible, drinks even worst. Sent the drinks back and drank water for the rest of the night. Never, have I sat through a comedy show without a drink! Left the place starving. You must do better!!!!
I enjoyed the flight of 4 2oz wines and the food was delicious (both the cheese and/ charcuterie board and the honey pepperoni). i wished that the host could have told us a bit more about the wines when they were first served, but there was none. we also got to have the view of little island and one world trade center right in front of us. however the place did feel a bit commercial and personalityless. and tbh the waiter checked in too often, that it interrupted our experience especially as a big group with people coming at different times.
I had a fabulous time at a the Winery. The service was excellent, the ambience perfect, the acoustic were wonderful and the layout is quite nice. I saw Liz Wright performance who was outstanding. Based upon my initial experience I would not only recommend this place but I am looking forward to returning,. Good food, good wine, good service, good entertainment. Who could ask for anything more?
Tables are a little cramped, but setup and concert were great. Wine and food were good, particularly considering that it was a concert venue setup
What a beautiful place with great food and drink! I especially loved the Loft area and the whole restaurant is so wonderful and beautiful! Great location too next to the pier!
Nice intimate venue with reasonably priced cuisine.
I tried this place for the first time a few days ago to see North Mississippi Allstars. The space itself is pretty cool but the tables are really small and they jam as many as possible in there. The seats were so close together that you could hardly move and when someone had to go to the restroom, three other people had to get up so he could get out. I was lucky to get the end seat at a table of three so I had room and was facing the stage. Everybody sitting on the sides of the tables had to contort themselves to face the stage. They let us in an hour before the show so I had time to order something to eat. The menu has a decent variety of items but everything is pretty expensive for the serving size. The reuben egg rolls I got were $18 and tiny but really good. The burger I ordered was also good but $23 is a bit much. Service was fairly quick but once they brought the food they disappeared. No checking to see if everything was good or if we needed anything, which we did. Our table was finished with our food 20 minutes before the show started but they never came back to clear the dirty plates away. We asked our server as she passed by and she said she would send somebody over. But after the show ended and we were walking out, the pile of plates and cups was still there. The view of the stage from my seat was great and the sound system there is perfect for the size of the room. Loud and clear but not deafening. It was weird seeing a rock band in that kind of environment though. Youre watching a guy doing a great guitar solo while the guy next to you is ordering a chicken flatbread. It was also kind of annoying when they brought food to other tables and had stand in front of me or reach over my shoulder to hand it them because of how tight the seating is.
At the Dave Holliers show and the staff was partying hard than the people that paid to be there. I had to go out to the bar to get a glass of champagne because no server never came. I give it two star Dave Holliers gave a wonderful show!
Great venue for music. Saw Paula Cole and her voice is still amazing. Food smelled great and the wine was delicious.
City Winery is a fantastic live music venue, where almost every seat offers a great view of the stage. The staff are friendly and helpful. However, I would say the menu items are overpriced - my pizza was disappointing considering the price.
City Winery is a beautiful, huge venue with a nice view if you take seats in patio area!My dear friend and I stopped by there after work in Chelsea area last Sat. The waitstaff, front desk staff, and security are all nice and helpful. They had nice selection of wine and good food choices.Well definitely come back again!
The food and drink prices are pretty consistent with similar venues in NYC, but to be honest, I was not looking for a culinary experience. The waiter was attentive but not hovering.I was disappointed with the overall sound that evening; I saw Sonny Landreth and The Iguanas there, but like many musical situations these days, the mix was such that there was plenty of bass and drums, but the lyrics were pretty indistinguishable most of the time, except for when the songs had simple catch-phrase hooks. But admittedly, this is a pet peeve of mine.
Have a good time there. We were sitting on the terrace, inside was very hot.
Went to The Beatles Brunch with a large group! The show was amazing. The crowd was really enjoying it. The brunch line moved quickly and had varied options. The servers were very nice and chatted with us. My one complaint is that I felt at least one alcoholic drink could have been included. That being said, they did offer an option for bottomless that was affordable. Would recommend City Winery shows always, especially this brunch. Will probably go again sometime!
Saw comedian, Barry Brewer.Show was really good, food was good, excellent seats, very reasonably priced. Will be returning.
My wife and I had ad an absolutely amazing experience. We stopped in after heading to Little Island in Manhattan just to check it out. We were lucky enough to catch a wine tasting with Sommelier Drew B. He was fantastic! The wines were great, he was very knowledgeable and just a pleasant guy to talk to. We ended up joining the wine club.On Drew’s recommendation we grabbed a table outside after the tasting, bought a few extra bottles and corked one while watching the sunset over the Hudson. Amazing! We had a few appetizers and were served by Alex H. He recommended the vegetarian flatbread and it was CRAZY good. Roasted peaches, goat cheese, almonds, red onion, maybe honey and it was OUTSTANDING! Hats off to the chefs.Alex H. was as cool as they come, gave us a few recommendations for places to see and really rounded out the experience. Again, just a cool guy to talk to. We’ll be back for a show soon and will definitely enjoy our wine club membership. We are enjoying our rooftop rose from our Eastside rooftop tonight. See the pic below. Thanks for such a surprising and enjoyable evening!!!
This venue could really use some improvement , the service staff in the main room is not prepared for full service , also the room is poorly ventilated my friend and I ordered the kale caesar / the risotto balls a glass of Cabernet and a cocktail, our food came out in minutes, with my cabernet, we shared a table ( community seating) the other patrons ordered got their food and drink samples within minutes, the server never even said its coming its on the way sorry for the wait and when I asked for the manager to see what was going on, it was still an additional 15 mins, also my cabernet was NOT good which was very disappointing for a winery... in new york city also not for nothing the portions/ sizes of the food have gotten smaller and the prices have gone up , they didnt even apologize or comp- discount the bill , really poor service expected more
Terrible food (undercooked pizza had to send back) and AC was broken making it super uncomfortable for us and ruining the mood / vibe for my gfs birthday dinner. They said nothing could be done and it was broken all day and we just had to deal with it. Never going back.
City Winery was a great surprise. Vivian Green show was so dope. Kwame made it into a party. The food and drinks were good , but it was overall the performance, atmosphere and vibe.
The Boy Band Brunch experience was so much fun. Filled with your favorite boy band songs performed by the talented, sweetest guys ever, the performance part of the time was chefs kiss.It is tightly packed with the tables being very close together so unless youre coming with more than 3 friends, plan on sharing space with others and shuffling between seats. The drinks were amazing...well made and strong (see mango margaritas for reference)! The food was just okay. I had the lobster scrambled eggs and was hoping to be wowed but was a little let down. I did have truffle fries also and was glad I had a favorite to lean on. I wish I wouldve known we couldve ordered from their main menu rather than the brunch special menu on the table. If youre going for a performance+meal experience at City Winery, go at least an hour before to give yourself time to order and get your food because it took a long time to be served and once the show starts its hard to communicate with the overly busy, yet kindhearted wait staff. All in all, a good day or night out thing to do in NYC.
Only gave 2 stars because the girl at the front, Kathy was so so nice and made it seem like this place was going to be good. The main hostess was also nice. The food was not good. Truffle fries were cold and the kale salad left a lot to be desired. The Sauvignon blanc tasted like the $9 bottle I used to drink in college, and the Rose, although tasted good, was warm. Prices are high too. Oysters were okay but a little fishy. All in all, not worth your time or money.*** update. I changed my review to 1 stars because I got more mad about this place the more I thought about it. We ended up going to Mermaid Oyster Bar after - way cheaper, fabulous happy hour, better food and drinks, and multiple locations around the city. We got more food and more drinks (that were better quality) for less money. Go here if you can - I promise you the water view of the poopy Hudson River is not worth it to justify going to City Winery.
I had such a great time. The food and wine was delicious . The DJ was amazing. I saw comedian Michelle Buteau , who was so hilarious. I’m definitely coming back.
The show was good, and the service prompt.
Beautiful venue. Great food, but room temp water isnt ideal
Went to see and hear my new favorite artist, Leslie Mendelson, perform “After the Party”.The venue was intimate and comfortable and well staffed. I did notice some shuffling of seats going on with certain audience members who “felt they deserved better” but that’s totally on them because there clearly isn’t a bad seat in the house. All good here and planning a return visit and maybe even an opportunity to perform there myself! Well done!
5 days agoWonderful venue. Great food. Great service. Great music. (Roseanne Cash.) My main issue as it was for the table of 6 I shared was that on a freezing cold evening the air conditioning was blasting so hard we all were shivering. Might have been HVAC but it was a steady, icy breeze.
This place was so beautiful the way we’re the place it’s located, as soon you get in the staff was friendly, but the place was cozy very nice lighting and the decor was super dope, and prices were ok too I loved the experience and I will definitely will go again
I love this event space, food is great , The Blackbyds gave a excellent performance. We were dancing in the aisles.
A Surprisingly Poor Dining Experience. Save your money! For such an impressive looking venue the food here is below average but what really stands out is the poor service. We made a reservation for dinner at the restaurant and were surprised that all guests were not seated in the warm, nicely presented dining area by the host stand but were instead seated in a cold bar area right next to the music venue where the loud bass of the music next door encroached on our dining experience.2 of us sat at a table set for 4 people. Throughout the entire meal those extra glasses, plates and silverware were not cleared even after we relegated it all to one corner of the table to make space for food plates. Of their list of 12 or so wines the first 2 we requested were unavailable and the waiter provided no recommendations. What we did drink left a lot to be desired considering the Winery label. To reiterate, our experience was not in the packed music venue. It was in the restaurant where we were 1 of 2 tables of patrons.Any food plate that was finished with would not be cleared unless I flagged down our waiter and had already stacked everything on the corner of the table. What was unusual is that our waiter was prioritising setting tables around us in an otherwise empty restaurant and neglecting the table with actual customers. The waiter would not check in with us or make eye contact with me as he passed. I had to essentially request every step of the dinner process. I ordered the burger which came with cold fries and my partner ordered the oysters which were loaded with shell fragments.I would wholly recommend not spending your money here unless its for live music.
Beautiful venue took a little longer getting there from Penn next time subway perhaps. Not a bad seat in the main stage area
I highly recommend doing a wine flight with your food. The food here is great and I absolutely love the pizzas. The food is also great for sharing. The best thing here is the beautiful view of the river!
Delaney was a great server. She was actually working on her birthday. Enjoyed Lalah Hathaway performance!!
Went out to see Mr. Midnight himself, Raheem Devaughn at City Winery last night. It was amazing. The food was really great and affordable. We had the risotto balls, shrimp, raspberry wings and the margherita pizza. I had a glass of really good Rose. My husband had the Bourbon barrel Merlot which he also said was really good. The scenery was cinematic. We had a great view of the water at sunset. Then they close the curtains to a blue lit dinning room for the show. We would definitely return for a grown and sexy night out again
We ordered a wine flight & a cheese plate. They brought the wine and 48 minutes later they brought the cheese. My man ordered a Pilsner. They said they were out but the closest they had was a stout. This must have been the bartenders first day in a bar…. In what world is a Pilsner & a stout on the same planet? We then asked for crackers for the cheese. It arrived as we were paying and leaving.Run away. This place sucks.Cheese was good tho
My wife and I came here for a DL Hughley comedy show. First off the location is beautiful. The decor with all the wine on display looked amazing. Unfortunately thats all this place was, a pretty picture. The food was to say the least...not good. We ordered a bunch of plates for dinner before the show. We ordered the grilled shrimp and tuna poke bowl which were the only decent things we got. The raspberry wings were cold, I sent it back for a new one and it came back a few degrees warmer 😐. Also ordered the grilled octopus and it was like eating leather. Also order the French fries which came out half over cooked half decently cooked. The best thing about our dinner was our server who was a very lively and funny person. Id come for another comedy show, but definitely not the food.
Disappointing for a place that calls themselves a winery. The wines were abysmal and the charcuterie subpar. Tried various other things off menu and all were underwhelming. If you want to be a music venue then just call yourselves that no need to throw wine into the mix. I wouldnt go to a concert hall expecting good drinks and food. This place is for tourists and college dates.
Great Venue, food and drink. Great views from everywhere . Service people were great, friendly and so helpful. Fast service, great drinks, never had to wait for a refill when wanted. Area is gentrified, safe plenty of parking in the area.
I’ve seen many shows here, it’s a great place to see shows, very cozy, not a bad seat in the house. The staff has always been great and go above and beyond to make it comfortable for everyone.
Beth, management and the rest of the staff were very attentive and courteous. It was a great first time experience!
Truly enjoyed the cocktail city ages event at city winery. The bartenders who ran it were Ing, friendly, and informative. The cocktails are classics so it is fun to know how to make them. The history they shared was interesting. Would love to attend another similar event here.
Came for a wine tasting and ended up staying for an extra glass! Malorie did a great job introducing each wine and making us feel welcome. We enjoyed each of the 5 wines included in the tasting ($15), especially the Sauvignon Blanc. This is a great activity to keep in mind while in Chelsea!
We came mostly for the Strawberry Fields Beatles cover band, which was awesome! Food is ok.
Saw a comedy show here last night so I can’t say much about it other than itself as an event space. I think it was a little crowded ngl but the tickets were affordable . Service was good for the most part but there’s just too many ppl in there.I’d recommend getting there early before doors in case the line is long, we waited about 30-35 min for the show.Overall chill place , I’d give it a 4.3 stars if I could .
Great spot for a sunny day. Tasty brunch menu with views of the Hudson River. Attentive service, good selection of wine, and music setting the right vibe for a fun afternoon.
The place is Beautiful ❤️My drink was on point 🍷💗Lala Hathaway performedShe sings beautifully 💖
City Winery is one of my favorite music venues in New York, I hadnt been there since they had to move from 7th Avenue and I am pleased to say, they managed to retain the vibe of the old place with better sight lines to the stage. The food is quite good too. Ill be back soon.
Me and 3 of my girlfriends went to City Winery to see TMurph (comedy). Joe was our server all night and he did an excellent job with serving us and getting us checked out before the performance ended. The venue upstairs is very intimate and we had a great time. Everyone from the entry staff to the staff on the floor provided excellent service. We enjoyed the show immensely! One thing, a person in our party wanted a pino grigio and they said they were out. How does a winery, run out of PG? Odd right?
The venue, the lights, sound system, the river view, the staff, all made a great night to watch a live music performance.
From what Ive heard about this place, I guess I expected a lot more. The staff was nice enough, but everything was very slow. We were seated with another couple because their ticketing system had malfunctioned for some reason. Rather than try to make it right, they simply just paired people up. No other option. Just heres what it is. So whatever premium seating I had paid for I did not get. Id also asked for a bottle of wine to be ready at the table, and that wasnt even mentioned in our check-in. We had to remind our server. Which meant we had to wait additional time as they caught up with all the other orders. The folks who we befriended at our table also waited a while. In fact it was the first thing they said when we sat down: expect to wait.Keep your drink order simple because we ordered a mixed cocktail off their menu but we did not receive that particular cocktail. Im not sure what we received, but it certainly was not good. There were multiple shows happening and only one person directing people were to go. If you missed the announcement then you could possibly wait in the wrong line like we did. They have a lot of signs advertising what was coming up but nothing really directing you.All in all, it just seems like this place went on autopilot a while back, and are coasting on whats left of any good feelings or remnants of a reputation.Unless theres an act you really desperately want to see, its probably not worth your time or money.
The show was great, T.Murph was hilarious, thats why the 4 starts. The food gets a 2.5, it was bland, had the burata and margarita pizza, no seasoning on either, the wine price got me annoyed, they cell the same bottle downstairs in the store for $30 and have the nerve to charge $55 upstairs, are you kidding me? Thats almost double, I could understand a few extras dollars as cork fee/service charge but almost double?? If it wasnt for the comedian I wouldnt go back
The music was great. The menu is ridiculous and the service was incredibly amateur. Some training is desperately needed. And please do some more research on the small plates concept.
I love the atmosphere in there. It’s not to big and overwhelming. The only issue is the seating it’s way to close and it’s very hard to move. If the wou just remove a few tables it would be perfect. But I still love this place and highly recommend it
Giving 2 stars because while the venue was nice, the food and drinks offered were subpar at best. Youre better off eating before coming here because for what was paid, it felt like a scam. For 4-5 slices of American Wagyu steak, 4 slices of chicharrón, 3 cocktails, 2 sodas, and a full size burger with fries the bill came to well over $240 (without tip). The steak and chicharrón slices were the size of chicken nuggets, each plate costing $30-$41. If you truly must eat anything, just get the burger with fries. The cocktails tasted like your typical college drink and I couldnt even tell if the ingredients used were from a pre-bought mixer or fresh. We tried 3 of the 6 cocktails offered and all of them tasted sugary and the citrus tasted like it was likely squeezed days ago, if it was not actually a pre-bought mixer (not to mention that in one of my cocktails, there was an eyelash or eyebrow hair on the inside of the glass). The womens bathroom was clearly not well stocked either, as there was no toilet paper in any of the stalls so make sure you bring wipes. All in all, youre safer with either a regular soda or basic wine (dont get scammed by the food like we did).
Not a great venue for concerts. Although no seat is a bad seat, you have to share your dining table with others. The food was Panera bread quality at outrageous prices. On top of that the food came out slow and cold. The couple we sat with were super nice, just means we were lucky.
Last nights Trever Keith art/music show was fantastic! The Loft is wonderful performance space with great acoustics and lighting. The staff was attentive, courteous, and professional. And everything on the menu was an adventure for the senses! Thank you for having me; I look forward to returning.
What a great new (location at least) venue in NYC! It’s surprisingly spacious inside and the sound from the performances was great. They have a full food and drink menu for the shows - didn’t see any minimums and never felt forced to order more - and the prices were standard for the city. The best part was that we ordered the whipped feta app and without us even asking, whenever our pita bread plate would be low they’d come over with new pita for us! How incredibly considerate.
Great venue to see live shows. Food and drink served at your seat. No obstructions, so no bad seats. The only issue I have is that th Loft, which seats about 100 has a mens room with two toilets and 3 urinals, while the mens room for the main venue has one toilet and one urinal. Makes no sense.
First time seeing a show at this venue. I drove in from Nassau County. Traffic was not bad and there was metered street parking available nearby as well as a garage right next to the venue. Many people were there early having a pre-show meal. We opted just for drinks and some bar food. But I dont think people are coming here for the food. The drinks are good. Wine selection is vast. And the venue is a great place to see live music in a pretty intimate setting of a few hundred people. Will definitely be back!
Great venue. Spacious and no one stands (at least, not for the Aimee Mann/Ted Leo show we saw). We had a bite to eat before the concert. Service was great except that we werent asked if we wanted the apps before the mains, so be sure to ask if you have a preference as the tables arent that big. We had two bottles of wine -- loved the merlot on tap. We will be back.
Went for a comedy show and the show was amazing. That was the only good aspect.Don’t come hungry or looking for drinks or you will leave in the same state.Waited over an hour for the burrata, ordered as the show started but didn’t receive until the show was almost over. Couldn’t find our serve for over 30 min, making guests get up and look for their server during a show is awkward and rude - so we sat without food and empty wine glasses. For a winery I was shocked getting a glass of wine took 20+ min.
I had brunch enjoying with my family The Beatles show. The buffet had lunch food than breakfast and it was good. Eggs, potatoes, chicken, French toast. Fruits, cheese and sweets could be great for the next time.I will definitely repeat City Winery. The service is good. The place is big, clean, well decorated and with different rooms for shows.I park a few blocks away, but when I was arriving I noticed a parking just next door.It is near to Little Island, so if you want to have a stroll around is a good idea.
We had a poor experience on New Years, but management/staff more than made it right with a comped follow up show for Colin Hay...great show, great food and service, clearly a more representative experience. Nice intimate venue and FANTASTIC sound both times we visited.
Great food and love the new menu. Still an awesome venue. The concert itself left much to be desired. Did anyone really do a soundcheck before the event? We couldn’t hear a word she was singing. The drums and band completely drowned her out. Extremely disappointing and we were at table 13 right in the middle.Of the 20+ shows I have seen as a club member, this one was by far the worst, even in both venues.
We had reservation for Saturday. Before an hour for the reservation they text us said they moved us to second floor.Reason was very funny they had event. If you have event you know in advance than you don’t take any reservations for the spot.Anyway we arrived to the restaurant and didn’t like the spot they offered. We had look for another restaurant to celebrate birthday.Which took 2 hours to get there and wait for seat.If you have reservation be aware that you may have surprise 😮Make a reservation for another restaurant to not waste your time.It is good to have restaurant but if you don’t know how to move business than costumers never will come back.It is okay to not have new costumer but it is not okay to lose costumer!
I enjoyed my first visit to City Winery to hear Lalah Hathaway. I had a good view, seated to the left of the stage. Seating is close, fortunately I was seated by friendly patrons (Lalah has cool fans) which made for a great night. Sound was pretty good. Food came quickly and servers were attentive. Good first impression and I’ll be back.
The performances are pretty good. The food is uninspired. Stay for the concerts but get dinner someplace else.
LOVE City Winery - especially in this location overlooking the river and Little Island. Besides offering great talent at reasonable ticket prices (Ive seen comedians and musicians here), I enjoy the overall vibe. I usually order the charcuterie platter and their wine selection is good. Great plus for the city.
We didnt eat there, so I cant speak to that. We saw a wonderful concert but what was really annoying were the background noises... I mean, does the staff has to talk to guests and discuss things while it gets being performed, especially during the more quiet songs?! And if the staff wasnt bothering guests during the performace, it was crushing ice in the background or doing dishes... Really, really loud dishes... So disrespectful to the performers as well as the audience! I do understand they want/have to make as much money as possible but it is ruining the experience for those who want to enjoy the show...:-(
We went to see BABATUNDE,we were very impressed with the venue the food was excellent the service was fabulous. We had a beautiful evening.from 🇨🇦 BABATUNDE was breathtaking in his performance.
The venue is nice. All of the seating gives a great view of the stage. But the seating is very close together and can be a little cramped. Also the food yesterday was cold, my burger was burnt on the outside and my drink was not made well. I had a much better restaurant experience the last time I went there to see Jon B.
I attended the Sherri Shepherd Show and it was a wonderful experience. Sherri and Kim and Roland’s were excellent and funny as hell. I laughed so much. The City Winery is a beautiful venue and I cannot wait to return. Not only is the place beautiful the food is delicious. The hummus, duck taco and arugula salad is a must have.I our server Freddie was good.
Fun space, open atmosphere, good service. Excellent views.
The venue is always nice, service is always great. The air conditioner seemed to have not been working properly as it was very hot.
My companions and I eagerly attended the Rocky Horror Picture Show on the evening of 31st October, looking forward to a memorable experience. Unfortunately, our evening was marred by a series of disappointments, which prompted me to share our thoughts on this relatively costly outing that, regrettably, fell far short of our expectations. To begin, there was an unexpected shift in the start time, moved up from 8 pm to 7:30 pm, seemingly driven by financial motives. This change not only necessitated us to rush to the venue, sacrificing our planned pre-show drinks, but it also culminated in a rather abrupt departure from the venue, leaving us feeling somewhat herded, akin to battery-farmed chickens. When we arrived, we were led to our designated table, which was to be a partially obstructed view of the show. Positioned directly in front of us was an imposing piano, effectively obscuring our view of the stage, although, as it turned out, this didnt ultimately matter much. To add to our discomfort, the electric guitar speaker was positioned in a way that subjected us to an unreasonably high volume, rendering any possibility of enjoying the performance virtually impossible. Our server promptly approached us upon our arrival, a pleasant surprise, yet we were scarcely afforded enough time to flip through the rather exorbitant menu and make our selections. Once we were ready, approximately five minutes later, our waiter had inexplicably vanished or seemed to be ignoring our attempts to gain their attention, only to discover them engrossed in their phone in a far corner of the venue. These grievances, along with a less than ideal casting choice for the show, subpar instrumental performances, and the rushed exit at the conclusion of the performance, collectively contributed to transforming what was intended to be a delightful treat into an unfortunate trick.
Our reviews had over 42 million in the last 12 months. We do not get paid we just love to eat and have fun. We really love City Winery. It is Tasty!!! WOW We went to Andrew Dice Clay show. He was amazing. I have never laughed so hard in my life. My stomach literally ached the next day. He did 90 minutes of story telling that were awesome. All of it new stuff and closed with 5 minutes of the old stuff, but it is still super funny. The bad news is that the food here is not that great. Mostly fried without much flavor. The lobster corn pizza is not bad, but not great. The burrata and prosciutto pizza is served warm but the cheese and prosciutto are served cold. We asked several servers and they said that is how they do it. It was not good. The Ruben egg rolls were blah and lifeless. Cauliflower app was good but not great. Claimed to be spicy but was not at all. Risotto balls were just like fried rice in a ball. Feta cheese whip was ok but again not much flavor. Maybe we just caught them on a bad night. We will for sure go back for more shows, but probably pass on the food next time. The good news is that you can go about an hour before show time and eat right at your table so you do not have to get up and down. Check out all of our reviews and look at all or photos below. If we do not like it we do no review it so all of the ones you see are places that are fantastic. Follow us if you like. We had over 42 million views in the last 12 months and we thank you for that. We dont get paid, we just love to eat. Be sure to click on RobH at the top of this review to see all of them and to follow us if you like good food and FUN. If we do a review it is because we love it.
The review is for food only. Although the view was enjoyable, the food was a bit disappointing. We followed the servers recommendations and ordered Kung Pao cauliflower, chicken Corsica, and hot honey pizza. The cauliflower was soggy, and the hot honey pizza was just average. The only dish I would recommend is the chicken Corsica, which came with a lovely sauce. We also had some cocktails, and the impressionist cocktail definitely made a positive impression on us.
Beautiful venue, friendly staff. I enjoyed the wine & appetizer that was enough for two. The show, Al Stewart, was sold out so it was crowded, but everyone seemed to be having a good time. The sound was great, too. I will definitely be back.
Once again a fabulous evening at the Winery. Clearly the artists enjoy preforming here as much as the audience enjoys seeing them.Lucinda Williams once again did it for me.
I saw Tweet perform hits from Southern Hummingbird and Charlene. She was awesome and invited audience members to sing with her. I loved every moment. Yes to live music!!! The band and backup singers were amazing. My only complaint is that the waitstaff did not have any info about Tweets wine offering. They did not know the price or the type of wine. Only the cashier knew. The other staff at the counter could not answer questions about the wine.
The venue was really nice and good sound the only problem i had was i was seated to the right of the stage and behind me was a serving station that all the waiters went to and constantly banged into my legs and blocking my view. at one point one women waitress apologized to me it was quite annoying i think this needs to be addressed. other than that, very nice.2 stars only because of the seating.
The Good... The venue itself is nice, has a great seating area, for an up-close and personal experience with artist. The food was great. I recommend the Kung Po Cauliflower and the Chicken Thighs. The Bad... The food portions are small, the costs are full meal costs. The access to the venue is very time consuming; from the Front Desk Check-In, which isnt required; to the non-ticket access by way of your name on a printed out paper; to the seating by an usher, who may or may not, understanding the venues seating numbers; to the waiters, running back in forth, in front of your view of the artist, all through the show.Overall... nice venue with a lot of room for procedural and customer care improvements.
Strawberry Fields is the ultimate Beatles tribute band. Definitely!!!! The Best!!!!!
I was there for a coffee, I was treated less than trash by the blonde girl when I placed my order for not having a credit card, as a tourist I only carry cash.
1st time. The waiter came to us slightly aggressively to ask were we ready to order yet 😯. I thought we kept him waiting, but we had just gotten there. Food came quick, but lukewarm. The sauce for the wings was congealed.Waiter came by once and got lost until almost at the end. I had to ask him to clear the table of our food. Everything was sub par.
We saw Live Noodz last night at City Winery. Jonathan Graziano was awesome! Awesome doesnt actually capture how much we enjoyed the show. City Winery is such a great space. The food was delicious and the service was terrific. I am looking forward to our next visit.
Venue was great. Nice small size, come earlier for dinner and grab a good seat, stay for the show. The food was actually reasonably prices (especially for what you get - dinner at a show!), prices were normal area restaurant prices for food and drinks, great selection of wines and beverages (again, prices as is the norm at most places) and cool setup. Id for sure come back!( I will add - they could expand their non alcoholic options more, maybe add some lemonades or something. They have a great selection of mocktails but could add more options.)
The loft at City Winery is an ideal venue to get up close and personal with your favorite artists! Great music, food & service!
Think twice before taking your kids to the Sunday brunch. The band was painfully loud - they handed out ear plugs because they know its too loud and have had complaints in the past. The brunch is a buffet and was just okay. They ran out of plates and we had to use little bread plates. The band was pretty good but again too loud. Seating is general admission - so if you dont get there early youre stuck with whatever is left. Overall, I wouldnt go back unless it was a band I loved and def. adults only!
