He wanted coffee and dessert, I wanted wine and charcuterie so I googled coffee and wine and found this spot! It was the perfect spot for a quiet after dinner conversation. Also, this space is a laptop free zone and does not have WiFi. So be prepared to take a break from work or study to spend quality time with friends if you chose to come here.
The very limit menu options we tried the warm brownie with ice cream... It was not good at all. Was over sweet and very chewy. Also we had ice tea chocolatte. That had no taste of chocolate wad very watery and blend taste.
Nice, polite Italian owner, I think, offered help with the menu since we were unfamiliar with the Italian names. He recommended the tiramisu limoncello and noted it was freshly made. Was very satisfied.
Cocoa Bar has never disappointed my husband and I. The food, wine and coffee is quality and the service is consistently excellent. Cocoa bar is the kind of place that makes you love the Lower East Side. Great during the day if you want to just hang out somewhere and also at night if youre looking for a glass of wine.
Interesting selection of truffles/bonbons, other fancy desserts, dessert wines, dessert cocktails, espresso drinks, etc. There may be some savory options too, but I wasnt paying attention to them if there were. The owners son was our server, and is also a filmmaker. He screened one of his movies in the shop.
Cute little eatery focused on chocolate desserts and truffles and wine. You can get other food here too, but its ok just to have an after dinner treat there. Its run by a cute older couple, which is really nice.
It feels home! If after a long day you feel like having a drink or amazing cocktail this a the place! Ask for their chocolate Martini and Olivia sandwich. If you fancy a Persian tea you have walked in to the right spot.
Such a great quaint shop! A no laptop policy makes this place always a great spot for coffee and conversation. Coffee and chocolate are great serving traditional espresso drinks.
Awful! it used to be a great mellow neighborhood spot you can have a drink and get some work done! its now just another busy brunchy loud spot! the waitress was very rude ! i genuinely do not wish them good luck! after 5 years of giving them my business !
Happened to walk by...Saw the sign for best hit chocolate in the city....by far one of the greatest cups of hot chocolate i have ever had!! Also espresso we ordered was excellent not bitter!
Very good desserts, but the wine is hit or miss--they were out of most and the open bottles had gone bad. The staff are extremely nice though.
The owner is super friendly and able to help you with choosing a drink. Theyre speciality cocktails are also amazing. Great place to chill with a drink.
This is a great place for coffee, wine and cheese right in the Lower East Side. Great owner and a great music. Definitely recommend checking them out. Great wifi to if you need to get online.
Excellent happy hour for drinks (beer deals especially), hot cocoa and light food. Super busy, yet super nice hostess/bartender/waitress/cashier/doeseverythingperson.
Dropped in one evening for a coffee and chocolates. Service and choices of food and beverage were great. Worth visiting when in the area.
Delicious food! We have eaten some sandwiches and salads and were so good. We are visiting NY from Spain and is the first time we have eaten such a good bread in the US! The chocolates deserts were also great! We will be coming again!
Nice place for a cup of coffee. I spent a few hours here relaxing and getting caught up on some work. I like the seats by the window where you can watch the world go by.
Its a great place that my friends and I visit for our annual guys night out. Great drinks, great deserts, great atmosphere.
Perfect hot cocoa and extremely friendly service. Also laptop friendly with free fast wifi. Cant really ask for anything more.
Cozy, old jazz and blues on the speakers, cool guy behind the bar. Glass of wine in a cold, rainy day before heading into a movie.
A great place to relax and have a chocolate drink or wine
It was okay. I liked their selection, and the fact that they combined a cafe with a bar. The cocktails on menu looked really good. Dessert wise, not the best. The selection was almost nonexistent and the prices for the serving size were not well thought out. That being said, I totally recommend their spiced chai latte.
Great hot chocolate, great vibes, great service. Definitely recommend springing the extra dollar for the giant marshmallow!! Such a great treat on a chilly November evening
Owner always a delight, friendly, fast service
Great coffees, good wifi, a great place to spend a studious afternoon at :)
If you’re in the mood for an espresso martini there is no better spot on the lower east side!
Best cocoa bar Ive been to hands down.
Such a quaint place to relax and have amazing desserts and drinks
Great service, lovely atmosphere, excellent coffee. :)
Alcohol and chocolate what more can you ask for
Spicy Cocoa Martini 10/10. Really nice dude running the place.
Good food and the best chai latte i ever had!
Great wide selection very nice atmosphere Very European
Espresso martini was delicious. Great vibe.
This place had something for everyone in our group: the chocolate lover, the person who just wanted a glass of wine, the one who had skipped dinner and was hungry. We all came out happy. The owners provide excellent service, making everything feel like the labor of love. The food was consistently good, the location is great, and the ambience was cozy.
Service: 5.5!Ambience: 5Hot chocolate: 3.5 . This review is based on one order and visit. My friend and I ordered the same thing, but hers was less chalky and sweeter than mine. Given that I dropped by on a very cold night, I was still delighted to be welcomed warmly by the gentleman behind the counter and given table service at an adorable cafe. Ill definitely drop by if Im in the area again. Perfect date spot!
If you want a dessert, but also want drinks, why not combine the two! The drinks are a bit pricey (around $12), but the flavor is well worth the expense. I usually come here after hitting up Clinton Street Bakery down the block. Staff is always friendly and easy to joke with if you sit at the bar. Its a smaller, low-light bar so its a perfect choice for dates.
Very nice, very cozy & the owner is so personable and makes you feel so at home that you definitely want to come back his food is an art he has a small menu yet it is done so artistically. If nothing else the chocolate is so fabulous he has all kinds of truffles and little petite cakes like my favorite The Chocolate Moose this is to die for and I never tried a chocolate martini or an expresso martini very delicious and again so well put together so artistic definitely you want to try and guaranteed you will go back for more. ❤️ This place...
Cocoa bar has a very friendly staff and excellent menu for chocolate and espresso drinks. Prices are pretty fair for a specialty drink place, in the $4-5 range for most. The hot chocolates are excellent, especially the funky monkey one with bananas. This is the perfect spot to stop on a freezing cold winter day to warm up a bit. They also have free WiFi and dont mind people squatting, so its a great place to do some work.
The best coffee shop/bar in NYC!This is where our NYC team spends many hours outside the office working. Yes working, we dont stop at On The Dots!Aside from the great coffee, sandwiches, chocolates, music and crowd, the people that work here really make this a special place. Honestly the best customer service we have ever received in a NYC establishment.
The mint hot chocolate is the best weapon against the bitter cold. This is a full service stop for all your chocolate, coffee, and wine needs. The space is intimate and modern and you feel like you are escaping the hustle of the LES when you step into these white walls. The music is eclectic, as are the staff. I am a fan of the flourless chocolate cake in addition to the wide range of flavored hot coco.
The warmest, most welcoming people run this place.
Cocoa Bar is a great venue offering in house fresh made goods along with delicious coffee, wine, and alcohol. CB is complete with ample seating, wifi and power outlets making this a great venue to write. The staff come from an interesting blend of backgrounds and the owner is humble and down to earth.
Excellent from the time I walked into the door until I left
Hot cocoa is awesome! And so is Maria!
We visited shortly while waiting for a concert at a nearby lounge and loved the atmosphere. Prices were reasonable for NYC and they have the best hot chocolate around!
My friends and I came here and had so much fun. They had incredible live music and the waitress recommendations for the spicy hot chocolate and the desserts were awesome. Also, the live music benefitted the relief in Puerto Rico, which I really appreciated. It is a great neighborhood spot with a lot to offer!!!!
Great place to hide on a rainy afternoon. Fantastic service - the older dude behind the counter has great taste in music, and the chocolate chip peanut butter cookies they make there are amazing.
Great desserts and chocolatey drinks! It has a cafe vibe and is usually not too crowded.
Great authentic Italian cappuccino and wine too. Wonderful..
Good tea and coffee. Charming host. Quiet enough to have a conversation.
Great service and cocoa. Cozy little spot with great people.
You know, I’m not an espresso martini expert, but I liked the one I had here. Not a bad place to grab a drink if you’re waiting to get into a restaurant eat by.
Always a pleasant person there to help. Its my go to place if in the neighborhood and just want a drink and conversation.
Came here after my engagement and had amazing flourless chocolate cake and champagne. Every trip to NYC this is a must stop place! Thanks COCOA BAR
Great cozy neighborhood coffee shop. They do have a wine/beer happy hour in the evenings as well.
Awesome Hot Chocolate, decent Coffee plus Wine and Beer. This place is great to work at during the day.
The single most delicious hot chocolate ive ever head, with an artisanal marshmallow to boot. Great service and on a cool street.
Owner does a great job and the service was outstanding. The coffee and desserts were very good.
Well I dont think this place knows if it wants to be a coffee place or a bar. I was doing homework here and the owner pretty much asked me to leave because I might scare customers away. Ummm...there was no one there.
Nice and quiet... Until the beautiful live music starts.
I came here with a group of friends and I was not impressed. Its a novel concept to have a bar dedicated to chocolate, with chocolate drinks, blends in alcohol, etc. I had a few desserts and they were not good. In particular, I had the flourless chocolate cake and some other chocolate nibbles. The drinks were average.
Service was amazing and the server was cute,I recomend this
Not a very interesting menu. Everything tastes good, but the options arent gonna make you crave their food over the guy next door.
The best way to enjoy dessert!
Delightful proprietor serves excellent chocolate, wine and conversation!
Very cool and cozy place , great coffee and brownies are excellent
Loved the white hot chocolate!
Amazing variety of hot drinks.
Free wifi (which kinda makes it look like an office)
Food great drinks awesome
Great iced americano coffee!
Nice place my cousin love it
Not the best cup of coffee ... Very burnt
The best hot chocolate.
Nutella crepe is amazing
Love the Brownies, and hot chocolate
Great coffee and wine bar
The owner is an awesome guy :)
Best Coco in New York
The best
Loved the white hot chocolate
Amazing hot chocolate
Friendly, relaxing cafe
Personnel somewhat rude.
Best hot chocolate.
Chocolate and Mimosas
Time flys!
Unforgettable.
Excellent place, with a very pleasant atmosphere and excellent service. We ordered a snack and it was delicious, the products were very fresh and of good quality. The wines are very good and the prices are in line with the quality. The chocolate is delicious, one of the best Ive ever tried. The desserts are also very good. It is a recommended place in New York.
The experience is unique, the place is cozy and provides the best service, I recommend it.
A very nice cafe on Clinton St, a street full of other shops and restaurants with character. We went to try their famous hot chocolate (about $6 - $7) with homemade marshmallow. The chocolate is very good, American style; that is, quite liquid, but tasty. They prepare it in front of you with pure chocolate to melt, no chocolate powder. There are few tables, but there were people working on their laptops and groups of friends. Recommended for having a coffee, at night it becomes a wine bar.
Nice place..
