We hosted a work mixer at LA Cava and it was fantastic. From the initial outreach to the night of the event, the manager and her team were wonderful to work with. They were responsive before and during the event. They were very flexible about our set-up needs. The space was quite crowded at one point (all of our guests) for about 20-30 minutes and I worried that this might really frustrate her team, but they were so kind and accommodating. The space is really charming. The food was enough based on La Cavas guidance/recommendations. And all of our guests had a great time. I suspect we will host another event there next year.

Our group of 6 people, including 4 college kids, had a hard time deciding on dinner in the city of New York, after a long trip from the sunny West side. But it was my birthday, so who could argue? This Italian restaurant greets you with a New York bar vibe, bar music, high rise chairs and tables for dine in and an open bar. Just to be clear, music was one of our partial complains. Somehow, we expected a quiet nice Italian corner where we could all have a conversation, but despite faulty expectations it didn’t decrease my rating. If anything, one of us mentioned “a perfect combination of a restaurant and bar” and everyone agreed. Another small but very important plus, is comforting balanced lights, which we only had a chance to see at night time.Let’s move on to the service. The restaurant was packed, which often times results in need to wait for a server (understandably), but this small place had enough staff to take care of us immediately. Kind, funny and patient! Especially with me. I took an annoyingly long time to order. After all, it was my birthday. The water glasses were full all the time. A big plus. I had a questions about the menu and I understand perfectly the advice I was given. The menu. Everything is clear - immediate respect! Putting together a good straightforward menu is a complex task. The items we tried.Avocado toast was the first appetizer.4 pieces. 5 stars. The reaction was “amazing, crunchy….” And many other adjectives, all of highest honor.Salmon tartare was a two people appetizer.5 stars.Lemon marinated fresh salmon on top of chunky avocado in a perfect circle. Absolutely 5 out of 5. If I weren’t as in love as I am with a certain someone, I wouldn’t have shared it!Di Parma Panini.3.5 stars.A sandwich with a caprese salad and prosciutto, toasty, warm outside and chill inside was very comforting, good portion, perfectly cooked. On the side it came with a salad (nice touch, fresh) and…. Lays. Lays chips. Why was it served with my panini was confusing to all of us.Formaggi5 stars. I wish I could give a 6!A platter with cheese, served with a raisin warm bread, and grapes, and a figs spread. I cannot describe how satisfying that meal was in every way - size, serving, flavor, balance. I’m very picky and hate raisins, and I still don’t have a single tiniest note of what I wish have been improved.Seared Salmon3.5 stars.Good portion, crispy, served with spinach and mashed potato. Spinach was cooked perfectly, but it was served on the plate, rather than underneath the salmon, which causes it to get cooler faster. A complain “my spinach is cold” has come from the youngest participant of our trip.Pesto Penne4 stars.Creamy sauce, amazing chicken, and perfect asparagus. The portion is a little small for a grown man though.Vodka Penne4 stars.Very balanced, amazing sauce. The portion is little too small for a grown man, same as with all pastas in this place.Filet Mignon.4 stars. The most expensive entree on the menu, went to the another younger member in our group. How can we say “no” to kids? Perfect steak with your choice of “how do you like your steak?” Mushroom sauce was an absolute star on its own. Came also with string beans, which were over cooked, crispy in a bad way Ans not juicy at all.Overall conclusion: the restaurant makes to my favorites and most definitely a must try if you are in the area.

Top tier boozy brunch. I had the avocado toast, and my friend had the eggs benedict. All items were delicious and correctly cooked. $25 bottomless for 1.5 hours is a deal, and the bellinis were excellent.I highly recommend for a chill brunch spot with an intimate group. Nice decor as well.

Came here for brunch with some friends. Ordered coffee, latte, 2 breakfast burritos, and steak & eggs. The coffees were pretty weak. The burritos barely had any meat. Less than 1 sausage and maybe 1.5 strips of bacon respectively. And the steak was on the menu as “filet mignon” but was served some sort of sad excuse for skirt steak.Lastly, was served my steak and eggs with a hair in the potatoes. Server took them away and came back 2 minutes later with the same plate of food.Don’t bother coming here for brunch.

My organization hosted a cocktail hour for about 30 guests at La Cava, and had an incredible experience. Not only was it an incredible price for a Thursday night buy-out, but the food, drinks and service were excellent. Great wine list, great appetizers and great service. They were able to accommodate dietary restrictions with ease, and were great communicators. Cannot recommend this enough, and we will be returning.

Very disappointed. Food is tasty but I can’t imagine what’s happening in the kitchen. Found two dead bugs floating in my honey that i was pouring into my hot tea the whole time and literally drinking.Im at a lost for words. Me & my spouse at least thought they would accommodate us but instead they take the $3-$5 off the bill for the tea and never acknowledged it anymore. Literally insane for such a pristine restaurant. Such a cute little spot! I sat at the bar for happy hour with someone else. We ordered a couple glasses of wine and paninis. The food and wine was good. We sat at the bar for about 3 hours and didnt have any issues with being rushed out or asked to leave. The bartender was attentive and even gave us water after we closed out. It was kind of empty when we first arrived, but quickly filled up as the evening went on. Go early if you can to get good seating.

La Cava is a great place for a fun date night or to catch up with friends! I went with a group of six and enjoyed the prosciuttos burrata and salmon tartar as appetizers; they were terrific!! The servers were very polite, and the food came by quickly. As the main dish, we ordered Vodka pasta, which was good. I ordered mine with chicken instead of shrimp, and it was good. The fillet mignon came with mashed potatoes and green beans sautéed in mushroom sauce; it was delicious. The place was an enjoyable and chick environment; I recommend it to anyone near midtown.

This is a wonderful little place. I had a few hours to kill today before a flight and stumbled upon this welcoming spot.Being on my own, I sat comfortably at the bar with a glass of rose to start for $7 during happy hour, (which is 12-7pm). From there I ordered the smoked salmon plate which consisted of salmon, Brie, capers, bread and onions. For $16 you get a significant portion in a timely manner. The wine list here is not extensive, but I mean that in a positive way. There are some well priced, well selected wines by the glass, and some more adventurous ones by the bottle which I didn’t sample. My waiter was Ruben. He is professional and welcoming. If you want to try a, (or many!), of the wines, he is more than happy to oblige. On asking for the bill, Ruben offered me a glass on house. The reason for this is still unknown to me, but I can only assume it is because I made an effort to learn his name and have a conversation. All in all, I would whole heartedly recommend this venue for some casual wines, nice light dishes, and welcome absence of pretentious attitudes.

Wait staff was rude to my table, they wouldnt turn down music and actually turned it up/louder, and my group could not hear ourselves talk. Food took wayyyyy too long to make (I ordered a panini with salad and chips, they took well over 20 minutes to get it to me), and overall was not an enjoyable experience. Would not recommend coming here unless you like overpriced wines and yelling at your party when you are seated inches from each other to talk.

I wish I looked at the reviews before I even went to this place because apparently they hire rude, homophobic employees with ZERO people skills! I was at the bar with a friend and it was very hard to get a drink. Any time we were able to get the attention of the bartender, he would just look away! Eventually, we had to get up and approach him at the other end of the bar (where he was playing on his phone) to order a drink. I understand it was busy but he made no effort to make his rounds to the customers at the bar. It shouldn’t take 20+ minutes to get a second drink, and then another 20 minutes to even be able to ask for the check. This place is not my scene!

Got two happy hour drinks and had auto grat on it. My issue is I wasn’t told that this was the case when sat down and ordered. I work in the industry and so I get it…but I GET it. You don’t not make your customers aware of auto grat, that verges on dishonesty. It was party of 2 not a party of 16, and this exceptional style of auto grat should be made aware of in the beginning, the fact that it wasn’t is a mark of poor service at best and slimy at worst, either way is not worthy of a 20 % tip, forced (let’s call it what it is) or other wise.

Within a day of reaching out, she was able to put together a comprehensive proposal that detailed everything we could expect on the day of the event. Even when I had unexpected last minute changes, she was flexible and quick to respond. The service was absolutely phenomenal and the drinks and food were a hit with all our guests. The atmosphere is also lovely — it’s warm and inviting. I would highly recommend La Cava if you’re planning on hosting an event or just looking to enjoy an evening out.

Horrible experience. The server Dijana was rude and racist. She continually hounded my friends and Is table making distasteful comments and pressuring us to either pay off our bill or leave. We observed her from the bar snickering and pointing to us. She barely went to check on anyone elses table. My friends and I were just trying to catch up with each other and it was made impossible due to her presence every 5 minutes.I think she thought because we were black that we werent going to pay or something. Honestly, I have no idea.DO NOT COME HERE!

Went with my family this sunday, was met by an obviously rude waitress/bartender ,whos attitude overshadowed this 2nd avenue eatery .Poor people skills generally sum up my experience ,A low tone and eagerness need to get our entree order while an appetizer had just arrive had suttle implacation that I was unwanted along with my family

Went there for brunch with a couple of friends and we were all extremely disappointed. The staff is nice-ish but seem to bear the brunt of the chefs incompetencies. Not only did the dishes take ages to prepare (you can see the chef and sous-chef laughing away in the open kitchen while you wait close to one hour for your dish) but when they did arrive, the food on the plate was different to the description on the menu. Two of us had the steak and eggs for $17 described as: Filet mignon with 2 eggs sunny side up and roasted baby potatoes. The filet mignon, and I very much doubt it was filet mignon, was the thinest, smallest piece of meat I had ever seen on a plate. The roasted baby potatoes were in fact just potato chips! We were left looking at one another thinking did we just pay $17 for a couple of eggs that we had to wait an hour for. La Cava should either stop serving food all together or change chef - its unacceptable that someone has the audacity to serve you food that you could make with your eyes closed and charge you so much money for it. Conclusion:AVOID LA CAVA AT ALL COSTS, THERE ARE MANY MANY MANY OTHER BETTER PLACES TO EAT IN THE VICINITY!!!
