Came here to try the lasagna flights and they were awesome! We ordered one flight with meat and one without so we could try eight different types of lasagna in one meal! All were delicious, some simply outstanding. We went on a Tuesday night in July and it was very quiet. We made reservations in advance but most tables were empty. We were sat in the enclosed back patio which is so charming and romantic but we were four adults and our cafe table was only big enough for maybe three of us. The two men at our table were laughing about how their legs were entwined so we all fit. It was also VERY dim in our little elevated corner of the patio area, again, romantic to a point, but when everyone has to lift the candle on the table like we are in the Renaissance to read the menu at all, maybe a little more light is warranted? The menu is extensive so you are sure to find something to suit every taste although my daughter was surprised there weren’t any other pasta dishes save for the lasagna. Our server John was warm and attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. I loved the history of the place and could feel the warmth of the woman who established La Lanterna in everything the restaurant offered. We had two kinds of cheesecake and the Nutella “pizza” in addition to dinner and it was so good - especially dipped in coffee! We were just tourists passing through, but thank you La Lanterna for making our last night in New York a happy - and delicious - experience.

A lovely restaurant, we had a great time for a dinner for two. We ordered two lasagna flights so we could try them all! (Well, 2/3). Food quality was excellent. Lasagna was a tiny bit heavy on the cheese (yes, even for lasagna) but my favorite was the cacio e Pepe. Id highly recommend this place for a small, cozy dinner. Service was good but not great as our waitress forgot a drink order and was unavailable for a while mid meal.

This cozy, authentic pizzeria in Manhattan was a delightful find! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot to unwind after exploring the city. The pizza was absolutely delicious—perfectly crisp crust, fresh ingredients, and full of flavor. Plus, the prices were surprisingly affordable for Manhattan, making it a great value. A must-visit for anyone craving a genuine New York pizza experience!

Ive been here many times since 1985, 8 years after La Lanterna di Vittorio opened up. Initially it was a cafe, with delicious coffees and desserts. In later years, it became an Italian restaurant and now, their specialties include various pizzas and lasagnas. My husband and I came here last night for dinner, with a reservation prior to a performance at the Blue Note Jazz Club, less than 2 blocks away, We opted for dinner here, for more selections + better food and it was a good choice. Our waitress Gaby, was very friendly and went over their specialities of lasagnas and pizzas, We decided to share the arugula salad which was delicately dressed with lemon juice and shaved parmigiana reggiano cheese and the gorgonzola and walnut personal pizza - 12 of pure yum, enough for the two of us. We topped off our dinner by sharing the bread pudding. La Lanterna has an amazing menu of home made desserts.Love coming here anytime - for dessert, for lunch, for dinner. A staple in the village. Highly recommend!

This is a small, cozy restaurant in Greenwich Village that offers delicious Italian food. It offers an interesting, relatively quiet atmosphere and a delicious array of simple, affordable Italian food options, mostly pizza and lasagna. Our waiter was friendly and charming, and kept the conversation going, always coming to check up on our group throughout the meal. It was an overall good value for money, especially the garden area at the back, which was relatively busy but also offered the exclusiveness and privacy that we wanted. Would definitely come back and visit again.

Went here for the lasagna flight, was pleasantly surprised by the service, decor, and extensive food and drink menu. My partner and I got martinis that were poured in front of us at the table, a candlelight was at the table for ambiance. I was given a paper to rate the different lasagnas, and this is all happening after midnight on a Friday night, love it!

Definitely recommend if you like lasagna. The lasagna flight is such a fun and tasty concept! The atmosphere and food here reminds me of the restaurants in Italy. There are three options for the flight: meat, vegetarian, and combo. We had the meat flight and a single serving of the bolognese lasagna. Really liked that each lasagna in the flight tastes unique and distinct from one another. The complimentary bread is also very flavorful, and pairs well with the cheese plate.

La Lanterna is a tiny little restaurant that they PACK people into, but you better believe it is worth it. We went on the recommendation of an actual Italian who said this place is one of the few to nail the real flavors of Italy, showing up without a reservation, and even though they were packed the owner or manager sat us right away by a cozy fireplace. We started with a pizza with prosciutto that was absurdly good. The crust was perfect and the sauce had a fantastic pure tomato flavor. The Italian who recommended us was spot on. We then had Lasagna - mine the arrabbiata, which was legitimately spicy, and my wife the pesto, which was delicious. Our waitress was excellent and attentive and the owner or manager came over to check on us as well. Perhaps most impressive is that we got a pizza and two entrees and it was only $70.

I went to La Lanterna Di Vittorio with my brother and sister; we all agreed it was amazing! Everything we ate was delicious and the service was impeccable. My sister had the vegetarian lasagna variety which was flavourful and creamy. My pizza had a perfect crust with a delicious amount of cheese. My brother had a calzone which was perfectly cooked, with a crispy exterior and a deliciously moist interior. We also really enjoyed the restaurants charm; we were greeted by an Italian Nonna at the entrance - What more could you ask for?!

My wife and I had an incredible experience at La Lanterna di Vittorio. The food was phenomenal, and we were both thoroughly impressed. She had the Margherita pizza, which was perfectly made with fresh, high-quality ingredients and a delightful, thin crust. I enjoyed the lasagna with Italian sausage and broccoli rabe, which was simply outstanding – a perfect combination of flavors. For dessert, my wife chose the strawberry cheesecake, and I had the Italian cheesecake. Both desserts were the perfect sweet end to our meal. Our server, Jae, was amazing – her recommendations were spot on, and her attentiveness and warm service made the evening extra special.La Lanterna di Vittorio is a must-visit for anyone looking for authentic Italian food and a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. Food:The reviews had me with very high expectations going in. However I feel it didn’t live up to the hype. I got the vegetarian lasagna flight and honestly it was very bland. No flavor at all. Gave some to my partner to try and they agreed. Also didn’t fill me. They basically just filled 4 ramekins with mostly mozzarella cheese, which I don’t think is enough given the price that you’re paying for it. The pesto lasagna that all the reviews mention didn’t taste like a damn thing. We also got the pizza with anchovies and capers and that was really good so I give 3 stars for food. But even then I don’t think the pizza was revolutionary or worth the price.Service:A lot of the dishes given to us were dirty…cups, plates, knives, everything. There was just leftover crust on everything.Plus our waiter dropped our napkins on the ground outside and still gave them to us. It was also hard to ever get his attention.Atmosphere:The ambiance was the best part. It’s a very cute and romantic restaurant.Price:I paid $66 dollars, $80 with tip for the lasagne flight, a drink ($15), a pizza and a soda. This was honestly less than I expected to pay but still wasn’t worth it all together.

I was craving for some good old lasagna and this place did good! I got their lasagna flight - perfect portion size for someone who doesn’t enjoy a lot of cheese at once. There was mushroom, arrabbiata, pesto and 3 cheese. The arrabbiata was was very flavorful with the right amount of spiciness and pesto was my favorite! They have vegetarian options too. For dessert, I got their tiramisu - it was a bit too bitter for my tastes with the espresso. The vibe was okay, felt it was too loud so it’s definitely not a date place during the evenings. I definitely wanna give this place a try during the day and try their martinis next time. The server was really kind and attentive. Went there to celebrate my husband’s birthday as he is passionate about lasagna. We had their 8 flight lasagna tasting. To me, the vegetarian versions beat the meat & seafood ones but was the opposite for him. We started with bruschetta and ended with the ricotta cake and tiramisu. We topped our evening with a Riesling. Our waiter seemed new but was knowledgeable and provided professional service. Their quaint vibe is also appealing.I was amazed at how affordable and reasonable their prices were, especially with wine service. Highly recommend!!!!! Go before it gets too fancy and they double their prices. The only con is the bathroom was so small and lacked ventilation. A nice, cozy restaurant to dine at. Good ambiance, but space was quite limited. The tables were very small, and there was not enough space between the tables. It is a very romantic place, but I wish the kitchen and sink areas were a little more isolated and separated from the dining areas. The dining room may be quite dark, but the food shines bright at La Lanterna Di Vittorio. My best friend and I were looking for a late night dinner and found ourselves at their door and we’re glad we did.First of all, the ambience is lovely. We sat in the back semi-covered dining room, which felt big on account of the high ceiling, yet still intimate with its low lighting. I quite prefer the back dining room versus the front. My best friend and I ordered two items that we could share between the two of us. The lasagna flight and specialty pizza were wise choices. The lasagna flight is a perfect split decision meal as it offers four of their lasagnas: Bolognese, Salsiccia e Rapini, Pancetta, Cavolfiore e Piselli, and Peperone Rosso, Gambero e Carciofi. They were all well cooked, beautifully, seasoned, and each unique. We ordered the Pizza con Salsiccia (sausage) and we chose the lamb sausage. (I really love that they offer you the choice of sausage of which there are 3: lamb, sweet sausage, and hot sausage. The pizza was beautifully cooked with perfect proportions of each of the ingredients. It was a delicious combination of harmonious flavors.Lastly, the service was tremendous. We were seated very quickly, our server came in smiling and warm, and remained attentive throughout the evening. We had an overall very pleasant dinner experience, and I would highly recommend the spot to anyone looking for delicious pizza or lasagna, and a casual, intimate evening.

We ask the Indian waiter if we could sit outside and have some coffee (that its on the menu), and he make a very rude gesture with his hand like “go inside”, we went inside and ask the manager if we could get a table and have some coffee, he reply do you preferred it to go? There was a lot of tables available, we understood that they maybe didn’t want people to sit just for Coffee. But we didn’t mind we ordered cappuccino to go… this is what we get. A disgusting cup of plain americano with no milk no foam no nothing, they charged $5 dollars for this. If you don’t want people to get coffee remove it from the menu.

Really more of an NYU date night spot. Candle lit but loud. Food (we had lasagna flight and beet salad) was good, not great. The two things that dropped it for me though were the frequent loud dropping of dishes into a bin by the guys behind the bar and then the employee that took her mini-break by sitting down at an open seat near our table and going on social media with the sound on - WITHOUT HEADPHONES. That’s rude anywhere in public but at a restaurant? Unacceptable.

It seemed pretty busy by then already, but our food still came out relatively quickly. We decided to just order a bunch of things and share:3-cheese course ($15) - choose any three cheese from the list. We went with the brie, stracchino, and mozzarella di bufala. All were great. You really cant go wrong with a cheese plateMesclun Con Anatra Affumicata ($14.50) - warm smoked duck breast with mixed greens in a lemon mustard dressing. This was a nice way to start the meal. I was afraid the smoked duck would be too salty, but it was perfect. The lemon mustard dressing was nice and light - not too mustardy. Even my friend, who doesnt like mustard, said it was goodPizza con Prosciutto Arrostito ($16) - pizza topped with tomato sauce, ham, mozzarella, basil & EVOO. This was nice and thin (not overly thin) and was the perfect size for four people (one slice each)Lasagna al Pesto ($15.50) - homemade pasta layered with pesto sauce, bechamel & parmigiano cheese. This was definitely the star of the show. I had never even heard of pesto replacing tomato sauce for lasagna before, so it was a welcomed twist to a classic. It would be pretty heavy for one person, so Im really glad that we decided to do family-style with all the dishesWe also ordered a bottle of wine, and our total for everything came out to $40 pp. With all that food, I dont think youd find a better price for the quality elsewhere. Our waiter wasnt that friendly, but then again, Im not really that friendly either, so its not a deal-breaker for me. At least he was attentive.Cant wait to come back!

I rarely stop to write a good review but let me tell you i was just reminded of how much I love this place. Its no surprise they have been open since 1977. Their approach to hospitality and customer service is one that has become a lost art.Not only is the food good, and reasonably priced but they are one of the most laid back easy going places that I have visited in the city. Easy to throw a larger group birthday. Always willing to help. No demands or strict rules.I have had three birthdays here, and i have been back more times than i can count. I cant say that about many other places in Manhattan. I just love everything about them so much!Dont forget to sit in the winter garden. Its a gem.

I loved everything about dining here! The food was amazing and everything about the atmosphere exuded that this is exactly the way a good Italian meal in the village should be experienced. Such a lovely place, day or night. Parisian charm. There are three areas: the front cafe & bar, the veranda in the back of the place, and a huge basement with live music. The large menu has all sorts of Italian things (small plates, bruschetta of several kinds, pizza), a whole page of drinks like European coffee and tea, and half a page of delicious desserts. I went twice in one day - for a cup of an afternoon tea and evening wine and sweets with friends. The place is booming day and night. Friendly waiters, fast service, delicious food.

Came here with a friend for dinner and it was just okay for me. The menu has a lot of stuff, but its really limited to just lasagna, pizza, calzone, or panini. I decided to order a mushroom pizza since none of the other stuff are high on my list. The pizza tasted not much better than your average slice you get at your local pizzeria. My friend did the flight of lasagna and I had a bite of one of them and again, it was just okay. Im honestly baffled by why this place got so many great reviews from people since service was not great - our waitress kept rushing us, and the food was just okay. The only thing going for the restaurant is really the atmosphere, the garden area is lovely.

If you’re looking for a cosy and warm place to have dinner with indoor and outdoor patio seating then come to La Lanterna di Vittorio.Food/drinks: The drinks were great, we had the lychee martinis and the espresso martinis which were both made perfectly and strong. We ordered lasagna, pasta, and the margarita pizza. All were delicious and had fresh flavors.Atmosphere: This place has such a warm ambiance with the outdoor patio being very homey and inviting. It’s a great place for a date or to have dinner with friends and catch up. We made a reservation as this place does get busy quickly.Price: The prices here are fairly normal for the prices of restaurants in this location in NYC.Parking: There is street parking available but taking the subway or Uber is probably best to avoid the hassles of parking.

If youre looking to get sexy and intimate, the dimly lit patio with giant Moroccan-inspired lamps will probably seal the deal. There are plenty of dark corners to get your hanky panky on, and people will never notice because its way too dark and loud in there.Anywho, we stopped by here for dessert after a disappointing dinner. The Strawberry Cheesecake was meh--the cop-out kind where its just NY cheesecake with an over-sugared strawberry topping. But the Zuppa Inglese was creamy and welcoming. Gotta love that a green tea from them is still around $3, instead of the marked up $6 at most places. Will come back for real food one day.

The food was so good, it was some of the best I have had in the city. The menu was elaborate with so many vegetarian options as well. The cocktails were good and the ambience was very cozy. However, the service was abysmal. We were met with unnecessary attitude from our server and it absolutely ruined the dining experience for us. I made a simple request that we wanted the panini to be cut into 3 pieces instead of 2. It is a sandwich, it can easily be cut into 3 portions. And even a request this small was not fulfilled. Overall, as much as I loved the food, I would hesitate to visit again because this experience has left a sour taste in our mouths. La lanterna is popular for a reason. Please make a reservation if you have more than two people in your party. The indoor garden is gorgeous and the outdoor section is just not it. The atmosphere indoors is romantic and you feel transported to a New York summer in the late 1890s when you dine here. There is so much on the menu but I have to spotlight their somewhat ridiculously long list of lasagna choices. They are so indulgent and mouthwatering and you can’t go wrong with any of them. I had the vegetarian lasagna flight and I would recommend the arrabiata lasagna and the pesto. The food is delicious, the pizza, the calzones. It’s everything you could want in an Italian feast. I absolutely loved my first time back here in a while. I used to frequent La Lanterna in my younger years. Loved that the cozy front area is still as I remembered it pre-2000. Thats where I used to sit and I felt almost transported back to my younger years. My friend and I shared the Lasagna Ortolana, Pomodoro e Basilico, mesclun salad and Caramel Custard with dulce de leche gelato, and I had a glass of the Matua sauvignon blanc (happens to be my favorite). The combination made for a perfect dinner. To top it all, Omar was a wonderful waiter and Vittorio was always coming by filling our water and I had a brief conversation with him about how I loved this place and so glad to return after so many years. We finally called upon another staff member to bring the awaited drink and to snap a photo of us.In addition, we ordered an arugula salad. I had been having a lovely date up until that moment and it was such a sour note to end our night on. They also have a lasagna flight but we left that for another time. Each time Ive come here, the food has always been great and the staff as well. Great place with fair prices.

Great Greenwich Village location!! A fun spot. We had beers and dessert after hearing jazz nearby. I had the Italian cheesecake, which was so delicious. Nice vibes here.

Such a beautiful sweet little garden out back- and super cheerful, deferential service. My husband and I loved the pumpkin cognac cheesecake during one of our first dates. We loved it so much we called to have them order us a few for our nuptials. A lovely spot for special occasions and day to day.

REALLY bad experience. Lasagna bolognese had no red sauce or meat (had to give it back), pizza had little favor and was burned, drinks regular (peach ice tea had a very chemical taste). The waitress couldnt be more unhappy, service with a smile definitrly was not it. Went in for our anniversary and left utterly disappointed.

Customer service has been a 10/10. There’s a cute Nona walking around making sure everything is perfect. Which I loved! We had the lasagna flight. It’s amazing!, Such a great idea. You have to try it y’all! We also had the crostini it was also delicious. For drinks we had the menlona it’s their twist on the Manhattan also good.

Best lasagna I have ever had. My girlfriend ordered the pesto lasagna which I couldn’t help but take more than one bite of. And I ordered a flight of 4 meat lasagnas which I cannot express how good each one was. Short and simple review but will definitely be back soon.

This place is amazing. My girlfriend and I came to this great establishment to share our anniversary. She was stunned by the ambience of the place. Very romantic spot for a couple outside in the back and a great place to gather with friends inside. Did I mention that they have the most fulfilling lasagna dishes even though they seem like small portions. Homemade lasagna, couldnt get any better. I would definitely recommend this place.

I have been here twice and it has impressed me on both visits. The lasagne is flavor-packed delight and the pizza is also a must try. Pastries are worth giving a try, Tiramisu and the chocolate ones were yummy. To my surprise the Nutella pizza was also a great pick from dessert section. I’d also recommend Mocha Coffee for the coffee lovers.Overall a great vibe and a good place for Vegetarians.
