Excellent. My wife and I love to travel and try new places to eat. She had the Lobster and Crab Cake with Lemon Basil Aioli. I had the Filet Mignon. Both were excellent. The Filet was one of the best Ive ever had. The service is exceptional. I highly recommend making plans to have a nice dinner here.
There for pharmaceutical presentation; host at the entry professional & humorous! MaîtreDean and waiters were at their best very accommodating and the food was excellent. I had the Sea Bass as I am a seafood lover, but don’t take my word for it go explore the venue yourself! Thank you to THE CAPITAL GRILLE 💋
It was my birthday, and they truly made it a most enjoyable experience..Food & service were top notch…
A bit overpriced but much nicer than other restaurants. We had a lovely time and our waiter Tony was amazing. The steak we asked for was medium rare and it was a bit too cooked (more like medium to medium well, not red in the center anymore) but we hate to send steaks back as we know they simply throw those out. Otherwise, the taste and flavors were simply fantastic. Would visit again for an occasion!
Visited this restaurant on November 16,2024 with my Fiance and I couldn’t stop raving about the experience. Everyone was so attentive, friendly and sweet! Our server Rian was absolutely amazing, I’ll never forget her!!! She explained a few dishes that we weren’t familiar with and let us know about a few cocktails that were really good. This was my first time going to this restaurant and I will definitely be back. Rain if you read this, thank you so much for a special night and keep up all of the hard work, you definitely leave a mark and a smile on the faces of your customers!
Came for a company dinner, everything but the size of the room we had for the amount of ppl there were was excellent!!
I highly recommend this one! The food, atmosphere and service were all amazing! You can go wrong with pretty much anything on the menu but we decided in the filet, ahi tuna and sea bass. All of our meal were incredible! Oh and one of favorites was their old fashion menu! If visiting NYC check this one out for sure! You will not regret it!
Everything was amazing from service to staff to food. Dulaney B was an amazing server. I wasn’t feeling well on a date with my husband and she went above and beyond to bring me a drink and ginger rice to help my stomach just to be kind. We couldn’t believe it! Dinner was amazing. Great place
You almost can never go wrong with a Capital Grille. Ive been to this establishment in Midtown a number of times over the years and have always had a consistent experience all the way around. This is Capital Grilles nicest location in Manhattan, in my opinion, and a great place to hold a private lunch or dinner meeting.
I traditionally buy my family gift cards for Christmas here, so much so that I have the knives to prove it. I was very upset to hear that my sister using the gift card I bought her was forced to wait in the cold along with other families with young children and older people (likely there after seeing the tree). I dont have a problem waiting until the restaurant officially opens before I can sit or go to the bar area. But if a restaurant has an entire foyer and waiting area, I do believe it is ridiculous to make people wait in 32 degree weather. When finally let inside, the hostess asked my sister how she was doing and when she said she wasnt thrilled about waiting outside, the manager rudely interjected into the conversation and said he needs to get his staff ready before they open Sir, if you are not ready to let people wait in your waiting area 15 minutes before you open, then your staff is ill-prepared. Secondly, restaurants are extremely busy during the holidays and encourage patrons not to be late and be cautious of holiday traffic. My sister traveled 2+ hours, as many do to see the tree, so in order to make sure she didnt miss her reservation, she left with enough time to spare. The worst part of all, was my sister noted to this manager that she also works in hospitality and understands letting the staff prepare before waiting on guests, but noted that a waiting area is used FOR GUESTS TO WAIT IN. He curtly responded You know the answers, so I dont have to tell you If she didnt have a gift card and a cold tired family, she would have left. She did tell me how wonderful the service and food was once she was seated, but did tell me about the experience because she didnt want me to waste my money buying her another gift card she wont use.
Amazing! Best fine dining experience I’ve ever had! I’ve been twice over the years and every part of the experience is magical from the moment you step in the building until the moment you need to be rolled out! I ordered the porterhouse and my wife ordered the filet mignon. Best tasting steaks! This restaurant will not disappoint.Amazing wine selection as well! They really went above and beyond to make our wedding anniversary special.
Had a great dinner with amazing service. Ronny took great care of us and recommend getting gift cards for Xmas presents, we come back just for Ronny and great steaks !
Pricey but worth it. Started off with a dozen oysters and shrimp cocktail then went straight into the entree of Filet minion & Lamb Rib chops cooked to perfection with a few sides of scalloped potatoes, lobster Mac n cheese, Brussel sprouts with thick cut bacon.
An excellent place for a dinner. I had a filet with the bone and the meat was really tasty and well cooked. The staff is very friendly and professional.
Melissa and Mark were extremely rude. We waited over 30 mins past our reservation time for our table, but that was no problem! Mark forgot several items, including a full side, again, no problem! He never apologized, we smiled and gave him grace, its Thanksgiving! We barely saw the man!We have dined with Capital for over 15 years. Every, single year when we visit NYC for Thanksgiving. We kindly asked Mark to split our bill betweenthree couples/families and he said we had to figure it out ourselves, handed us a blue pen and walked away irritated, it is Capitals policy not to split tabs when gratuity is mandatory due to party size. Well, Im fine with the gratuity, we just need you to give the correct family the correct bill. We never saw Mark again. Melissa( the managing partner) then brought us our receipts with a stern, condescending attitude, obviously she had a bad night and needed to take it out on guests. I think someone needs a break. This was ridiculous treatment on thanksgiving, ridiculous treatment to guests and especially on a $1,000 bill. Sad. shame on you!
This is the second Capital Grille weve been to after visiting the Washington DC one a couple of years ago, and it did not disappoint again. The food, wine, and atmosphere were great, lovely Filet Mignon matched perfectly with a bottle of red.Drinks before hand were amazing, lovely cocktails and made an off menu bramble for me.The staff were amazing, Jay behind the bar, Heron our server and Edgar. We also had a long conversation with the lovely Freddy and everyone really made it a special night for us.
Highly disappointed. We order two filets ($67 each) and two sides for the table. After nearly an hour of no food, my partner had to go find our server and ask about our food. The server looked surprised and said “what? They didn’t bring you your steaks?” - he would have know this had he checked on us. He rushed to get the steaks, then brought the sides. At this point we had minutes to eat as we had tickets for a show. He apologized and comp’d our side dishes. Still walked out with a $200 bill for steaks and two cocktails. Steaks were well cooked but little flavor. The Brussels sprouts that I was able to inhale were delicious. I will not be back.Del Friscos is similarly priced and the service was spectacular. We went there the next night and had a much better experience.
What a lovely experience! We were looking for a restaurant somewhere between MOMA and Broadway and found The Capital Grille somewhat by accident, although we used Google to look for “restaurants near me”. So glad we found this spot.We had a lovely dining experience! The cocktails were delicious and the food was excellent. And even more, the service was wonderful; warm, friendly, attentive and helpful. Oftentimes, it is the service over the food or the ambiance that makes an experience “one to remember”; in this case, we had it all!Logan was our server and took great care of us in a fun, attentive and caring way. And as mentioned above, the food was also terrific. We were celebrating my husband’s 41st birthday and they were very kind to us in that regard and helped us celebrate! Much appreciated. This type of service and food (and overall experience) is what makes loyal customers! I highly recommend The Capital Grille and we will return again when we are in the City!
This restaurant is by far one of my fav. We had a lovely early dinner here before our Broadway show & really enjoyed the whole experience. Exceptional attention to detail, friendly and professional staff, great ambiance and such a beautiful place! Definitely coming back for their delicious food!
Enjoyed an outstanding meal after a long day. I will most certainly return.
I came on a rainy Sunday and I had a wonderful time here. However, I give it four stars because When I made the reservation I put in the note to be away from the kitchen and next to the wine wall but it wasnt followed. Maybe, that was a good thing because our waitress was great! I also saw people sitting in the area but maybe next time. This was my favorite location before the pandemic and Im so glad they kept their standards high. By standards I mean, great customer service and food. I had the tenderloin with two lobster tails and when it came out I thought it was small but surprisingly it was pretty filling and it was accompanied with the creamed spinach and mashed potatoes. The only issue I had was with the guy who was pouring the water for guests, was walking by with the water pitcher. He was carrying the water pitcher very low at knee length and spilled water on my cousins leg. My cousin informed the guy and he was very dismissive. We did mention it to the waitress and she apologized and stated she spoke with him. However, he was very nonchalant. Please, just dont carry the water pitcher low potentially spilling it on guests. Other than that, the waitress, I forgot her name but she wore glasses and had an accent. She was excellent and the hostess were great as well. I also have to mention that they do a good job with turning over tables quickly making it available for guests in a timely fashion.
We went twice while in New York. First time it was exceptional despite standing at the front waiting on the hostess. Granted they did just open, but when youre spending at least 100+ dollars, you expect a certain level of service.2nd time was good, the food wasnt as good as when they first opened/first visit. We had to sit in bar area, so service was slow bc bartender is very busy. So I suggest making reservations, especially for weekend.Absolutely loooved the crab/lobster cakes. A must order omg. Yums. For app. 2 entrees, extra side( sides cost like 15/20$) we spent 200+ each visit.
The food was delicious, the drinks were amazing. It is really centric and nearby the Broadway shows, perfect for before or after the show dinner. Great steak, better veggies💪🥦🥩
I would give this place 10 stars if I could and the main reason would be the bartender Roger. This man was perfect in every aspect. If everyone worked like him every business would boom!! He makes a hell of a margarita!!
Disappointed. The place is pretty expensive and the best part about it was the interior. Other than that, the service was extremely slow even though the waiter asked us if we were going to see the show. They treated us with less attentiveness because we asked for restaurant week menu. We asked for steaks to be medium rare, they brought us rare instead. The dessert and side dishes were good, but very underwelming overall.
This place was recommended for our anniversary dinner and it did not miss. The young lady that took our reservation was great and she took time to decorate our table for dinner. Our server Ray from NJ was awesome and made sure we were taken care of during our dinner.
I typically only give reviews when things are excellent... Well, this time, the entire experience exceeded excellent! From the ease of making a reservation to the greeting and atmosphere upon entering Capital Grille to the exit with a sincere thank you from the hosts on our way out the door. This dining experience was fantastic!Colton was our server and he had the amazing ability to deliver a fine dining level of service along with a friendly and comfortable delivery that our 6-year old granddaughter felt seen, heard and valued as a guest. The food, well, it was incredible!Crab cake, Bone-in filet, lobster mac and cheese, lamb chops, and the flourless chocolate cake. Superb!Fairly expensive and worth every penny!
Better than Delmonicos and keens. I was actually quite surprised we didn’t need to book in advance. Steaks were top notch, side dishes like the mashed potatoes and creamed spinach were sublime. Even the creme brule cheese cake was top level. Seating is cosy and quiet. Highly recommended !
One of my favorite places in the city and a must stop in evwry visit. Everything is perfect, starting from the setting, through the service and the food. This place masters steaks, so make sure to try the Kona NY Strip. The Creme Brule is to die for.Update: May 2022Pre theatre menu is gone, and service could be better. We did get a lovely desert platter for our anniversary. Iona coffee crusted NY strip is still amazing, but took off one star because of the service and the Tuna steak which was quite plain.
AJ provided exceptional service and was such a delight to have as our executive server of fantastic food! She was an ambassador of The Capital Grille! Love going to Capital Grille because of the consistency from location to location. Food is always great and service is impeccable. AJ made this visit even better! Thanks AJ!
The food and service here is excellent! We have been several times and the food always is delicious and perfectly cooked. The staff is also so friendly and accommodating. We can’t stop coming back!
I feel super grateful to have the wonderful dinner with Superman! The lamb was incredibly tender, and the clam chowder was creamy and delicious. We chose a very healthy Spanish dish, and it was absolutely yummy.Thank you for the memorable experience! And there is a bar outside of the dinning room. Highly recommend if you prefer fine dinning at the quiet environment.10/10 rating.
Great service. Restaurant week was a great deal. Food was excellent and service was impeccable. Joey was amazing. He was putting glitter on another table for their anniversary and we asked for the same and he happily abliged. They have fun and it shows in how they serve people. Definitely will be back.
From the moment we stepped into The Capital Grill, we were greeted with impeccable service that set the tone for an unforgettable evening. Celebrating my boyfriends birthday couldnt have been more special, thanks to the attentive staff who acknowledged the occasion from beginning to end.The service was exceptional, with every detail carefully attended to. From recommending dishes to ensuring our glasses were never empty, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and appreciated.Speaking of the food, it was nothing short of amazing. Each dish was crafted with precision and bursting with flavor. From the appetizers to the main course, every bite was a culinary delight. One of the highlights of the evening was the thoughtful gesture of presenting us with two small desserts and a glass of Champagne to toast to my boyfriends birthday. It was a personal touch that made the celebration even more memorable.Overall, our experience at The Capital Grill was outstanding. My boyfriend and I both thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our dining experience, and were already looking forward to our next visit. If youre looking for exceptional service, delicious food, and a memorable dining experience, look no further than The Capital Grill. Well definitely be returning soon!
Seriously the best service ever!!! Jay is the best bartender in NYC. He is very knowledgeable and a great mixologist. James is the manager and there was one mistake in which he noticed and corrected immediately. He rocks!!! Seriously the food and staff makes this place worth it.
Ray from The Capital Grille Midtown saved my boyfriend’s life on Friday night by doing the Heimlich maneuver on him when he was choking. We are so grateful to him— words can’t express! The whole team there, including our excellent server AJ, handled the situation so well and even gave us a free dessert at the end to congratulate him for not dying ( see photo 😂). It was the absolute, literal definition of “taking care of your guests”. Thank you again!!
Food and ambiance was superb, but the service was excellent. Maricruz, our server, could not have done more for us - honestly the best service I have ever experienced.
Absolutely great experience! AJ was an awesome, professional, and attentive server. The environment is very cool and a great place for a date night. The cocktail scene is on point, the steak was expertly prepared, and the creme brulee is a must get!
I have been a regular at capital grille. This time at father’s day Samantha went above and beyond by making our dining experience not only yummy but also memorable. As a divorced dad of a teenager trying to find ways to make things special, this service was surly appreciated.Wishing lots and lots of best wishes for Samantha and the entire team at CG.Sorry, dessert was so yummy we ended up taking pics later :)
They do everything right. The lobster mac and cheese appetizer was fantastic. The steaks were cooked to perfection. The sea bass was tender and held together just long enough to make it into my mouth. The sauces were amazing. We had a larger group and the wait staff handled everything extremely well. Im sure well be back soon.
Best steakhouse chains. Would recommend to go for business dinner
Anthony in reception is very friendly & Roger the bartender is equally attentive. Food & drinks were great as usual!
Excellent food and service although $110 for a porterhouse seemed a little expensive but it was large enough to share!
Booked a private event for my mothers birthday party. Our waiter was the best waiter weve ever experienced, at any restaurant. Attentive, kind, and pleasant. The food was great. Our one minor complaint was the the private room had very little ventilation. There are stayin standing vertical fans in the corners but they did not do the job. Luckily the waiters kept the water and wine flowing. Pictured is the Kona rubbed dry aged strip steak.
Try the famous Flatesy Chop & Run!
Tried this place the other night and the food looked good but had no taste
Came during restaurant weekend but have been there before. Hands down my favorite food. Absolutely delicious, well cooked. The servers were very funny and knowledgeable. We had a birthday and they gave us a beautiful handwritten card, decorated the table, and provided champagne.
If you want to treat yourself and/or your family well, give this place a try. Its really a wonderful, upscale restaurant in midtown Manhattan. I highly recommend it.
The food and wine were amazing! Plus, the staff and manager (shout out to AJ square) made my 60th birthday experience so very special with some unexpected treats! Overall atmosphere was great!
Nice classy spot. Great service and good food.
Im so full.
Amazing food, outstanding service and nice romantic restaurant. Good wine options
This was my second time here and both times the appetizers were amazing but the steak was over cooked or undercooked. This time everything including the asparagus and mushrooms were burned. Very disappointed. Barely touched my plate
Delany was AMAZING! So was the manager. Had a huge mix up with my party going to the wrong address and they took GREAT care of me. Super classy place, great calming classic steakhouse atmosphere. I can’t want to actually have a meal here. The menu looked timeless and the service was impeccable. Definitely try out capitol grille if you’re in the city :)
My parents took me to Capital Grille for my birthday and my lobster was cooked to perfection! The service was excellent and the the food was delicious!
Another great Cap Grille! Wonderful service, very professional. Wonderful steaks. Tried the lamb for the first time and it was amazing. In this time of hard to hire good staff the management of the Cap Grille has done a wonderful job of hiring committed employees that sincerely care.
The Capital Grille was nothing short of amazing! From the first interaction to the last, my husband and I were pleased with our experience. He picked a great restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Foods, drinks and service were outstanding! We were seated in a small dining room and our table was set nicely. Although the restaurant was quite busy, it felt so intimate. Heron G. literally put the icing on the cake with his dessert gesture and overall great service the entire evening.
Great experience!!! Food was excellent! One of the best steaks Ive tasted!
Had a very enjoyable dinner at the bar. Food was expertly cooked and perfectly seasoned. Very nice and professional bartender who made us feel comfortable and welcomed. Most outstanding was his assistant Mamadou, who went out of his way to make our dinner a success with his kind manners and natural understanding of hospitality.
Took my fiance here for his birthday and was brought to a table covered with confetti and a handwritten note! Such a nice surprise and shows that The Capital Grille really cares about their customers. Food was excellent!
The food and wait staff were over the top. We started with the lobster bisque with whole chunks of lobster claw and a French onion soup, we also had the 6oz Fillet with the mini lobster tails, cut filet with onions and mushrooms, the expresso encrusted steak was out of this world.. all steaks were cook from black n blue to medium rare and were cooked to perfection as we ordered them, for sides we had the lobster Mac n cheese had chunks of claw meat, potatoes , and the soy Brussel sprouts in bacon, the were amazing. The cocktails.were also on point with a very extensive wine list would recommend for a date night or special evening
Wow! Have been here twice now and have been blown away by the level of service and quality of food.We booked for lunch when on holiday in New York and was also for my wife’s birthday. The service levels were amazing and they were very attentive and friendly. The food was absolutely outstanding, the steaks were cooked to perfection, medium rare for us, and the off menu lobster Mac and cheese is amazing!!Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a great place to eat.
Came here for my birthday mid week and had such a fantastic experience. Such a calm atmosphere, everyone was kind, food was extremely delicious as well as the desserts and drinks. Loved that all the customers were dressed up and not in any casual wear, which kept up with the elegance of the restaurant.
I was in New York and not sure where to have dinner. I spotted Capital grill. I figured that it would be an amazing dinner. I’ve dined at the local Capital Grill on many occasions and was always pleased. My girlfriend ordered the porcini steak as she does at home expecting another fantastic meal. Out from the kitchen comes burnt beyond recognition. It was just a charred block. We call over the waitress to inquire why something like this would be brought to the table in high end restaurants. $90 for this steak. We were informed this is how they always prepare that dish. They should have been embarrassed to present a meal in that fashion. My steak was just about ok. Pretty dried out and our side dishes were just about warm. No enjoyment there. It will be quite some time, if I ever return to that franchise.
Our Celiac daughter tried the steak, mashed potatoes, corn, roasted chicken, and risotto. Delicious and she didn’t get sick. Highly recommend!! Thank you for being a safe GF restaurant!!!
Capitale Grille is always an amazing place for a good steakService is always good. One of the rare place they dont rush you to eat. Their wine list is amazing with all kind of wineTheir Brussels sprouts are still legendary
Restaurant week...inexpensive. nice place but aged strip steak not seasoned so well and not as tender as I hoped.
From the moment we walked in a little stressed from a protest in Times Square Melissa ( our hostess) made sure we were taken care of and made sure we could enjoy a nice dinner. She appointed Lisandra as our server who was magnificent and also provided incredible service and an incredible dining experience. The food was fantastic and we really enjoyed our last night in New York. I would definitely recommend this Capital Grille as an incredible option as a date night specially if youre going to see the Rockettes afterwards. Incredible night. Thank you Capital Grille team for a great experience.
Needless to say, this was an absolute winner! Everyone had steaks, except me, but my sesame-encrusted tuna tartare was awesome. Pardon the chips 🙂
Wonderful Experience with Minor Caveat I recently attended an event at this venue and was absolutely delighted by the experience. The ambiance of the place set the perfect tone for a memorable evening. The staff deserves special mention for their friendliness and helpfulness. They were attentive throughout the event, ensuring that everything ran smoothly and that all guests felt comfortable and well-cared for.As for the food, it was a culinary delight. The flavors were spot-on, with each dish being a testament to the chefs skill. However, I did find the portion size of the filet mignon a bit small for my liking, which was the only minor disappointment in an otherwise exquisite meal. The desserts, particularly the cheesecakes, were a highlight. They were absolutely delicious and left a lasting impression. Additionally, the wine selection was impressive, offering the perfect pairings for our meals. In conclusion, this place left a fantastic impression on me. I am eagerly looking forward to my next visit, and I plan to review it again then. Hopefully, the filet mignon will be just as tasty but a bit more generous in size!
Always fantastic. Have hosted several private lunches here and it’s perfect every time. Easy to plan, great food, excellent service.
We went here to celebrate a friend’s birthday and upon arrival to the table, it was decorated with a few extra birthday decorations and a personal handwritten note to the birthday girl. The food and service was excellent. I even made a mistake and spilled a drink and they replaced my appetizer for free.Overall, it was a great experience and the staff service was exemplary.
Food and service were amazing! Our waiter Michael was awesome, made a recommendation on a particular steak and it was perfect! The creamed spinach and lobster crab cakes were delicious. Dirty Martini with stuffed olives was a great pairing with the meal! The only thing I regret was not having another martini! Would definitely return.
To start, the dirty martini’s can be made with blue cheese olives. We have been back to this particular location because Roger, the bartender, is attentive and kind. He always has great suggestion on food and keeps the drinks full without being pushy. Anything you order with red meat will melt in your mouth and immediately make you salivate like Pavlov’s dogs when set in front of you. I dare say, some of the best steak I have ever had. Thank you, Roger and staff for always making this a special spot for us.
Excellent food, excellent service, and a great bar with a great atmosphere. We sat and watched the crowds Go by after the tree lining on Rockefeller Center and had an excellent filet mignon and ribeye. Drinks were perfect and the bar wasnt as loud as the restaurant, so we just grabbed a high top at the windows and enjoyed our evening! All at a reasonable price.
Great before or after Broadway plays. Superb steaks & seafood. Great NY atmosphere!! & the bar is great as well!
Had a nice steak dinner here. They did seat me right in the middle so it was hard for people to get by me. We came with like six of us here and had a wonderful time. they took off both desserts for us as a way to say sorry for the seating.
Steak was good; clam chowder and wine as well!
The food & the service was fabulous! My girlfriend recommended it but it was my first time here. We had a price fix meal which included appetizer, entree, dessert & coffee. Otherwise, it is very pricey. The waiter we had, Nick D, was excellent! He even acknowledged my birthday by bringing me am extra dessert! So thoughtful! I will definitely be back!
The food was not as good as expected for the price and the best part of our evening was the waiter who attended to us
Its perfect. This place is a legend. After a bite, the sanctus rang in my mouth.(진짜 핵졸맛)
The restaurant was a big restaurant. Its nice. The food was very good and flavourful. The servings was a perfect size. The dessert was delicious. The drink was okay. I ordered lobster mac and cheese and I didnt taste the lobster or see any lobster inside. only disappointment was the Mac and cheese. The atmosphere was very good. It was romantic. The table was nice and neat very clean everything. All the staff was good. Every person that came to our table was great very nice and polite. All staff was happy to serve us.Wheelchair accessible entrance. There is a parking lot close to the restaurant. I will be returning soon.
Beautiful location and the Barthender very nice and great. The food was very good, even that was served to slow! The manager instead was very unprofessional and also mean. Threat the people, the customers as he is the boss in his place seamed and made the location a very low and poor standart restaurant. After I complained about the delays of serving the food (waited more then one hour for the first course) he start to threaten me and my wife calling the security…. Shame on him and the property that’s allowed same behavior he should not work in a that beautiful restaurant!!!
Excellent food and service. The cappuccino with dessert made the night!
We stopped in for a lunch of appetizers and wow! What a great choice! The thick cut bacon, tuna tartar and crab/lobster cakes were all just delicious. Excellent service. Great cocktails! I’m not usually a big fan of martinis, but these were top notch. If you’re looking for a good spot for lunch or dinner, I recommend a reservation at The Capital Grille any day!
So yummy!!! Lobster bisque and a Caesar salad are such a good lunch combo. Don’t forget a cosmopolitan cocktail 🍸
Highly recommend The Capital Grille for a sophisticated, yet comfortable dining experience. The ribeye was excellent and the calamari was light and flavorful. Our server Jose provided warm hospitality and impeccable service.
Always amazing. This time they had the tables outside of the building during the reopening. Of course it wasn’t in the air conditioning was the let down but you couldn’t help it. The food was still come out perfect, so does the service. So far any of this chain hasn’t let me down yet. Probably my favorite stake house.
If you want steak for yourself(not for sharing), this is the place u should have to visit. One thing that is different from Empire or Peter is that they don’t provide sliced onions and tomatoes. Try other things with your steak!
Great food. Good service. Will go back...
The food was great. Our waiter was wonderful. We were there to celebrate a birthday. The restaurant was nice enough to decorate the table, provide a card, and give a complimentary dessert. I highly recommend the NY stripe steak and salmon. Its delicious!
I enjoy the broiled lobster tail, Chilean sea bass, mushrooms. Very friendly welcoming service fulfilling customized requests
Listen, i havent even got my food yet but before i get it, honestly Tony at the Bar will engage, recommend, and give you his undivided attention with his very charming personality. My girlfriend and i are set on when we come back, we order through him because of his personal touch. Thanks for making us feel welcome from for our first visit to NY. Skip the table visitors and ask for tony at the Bar. BTW the Cesar Salad is fire and cant wait foe the full meal. And i meant foe!!!.
The staff and dinner exceeded our expectations. We expected nice... We got fantastic. Jose, our server, was gracious, never hovering, but always there when got needed something. Our dinners were perfect, sides were perfect and so was dessert. It was my wifes Birthday, they even had a card, little decorations on the table and gave us a cozy little corner table for a romantic dinner. Outstanding
Great food and excellent selection of wine. We also received great service from the waiter (who we by mistake undertipped, hopefully this review somewhat makes up for that) with picking out a great wine to pair with our food. At the moment of visiting there was some scaffolding outside, making it somewhat hard to find, bit do not let that scare you off. Would definitely visit again.
Disorganized best describes this location. It was almost 15 minutes before we first had the wait staff introduce/ask for drinks. Our ordered drinks came relatively quickly but it took another 20-25 minutes of asking to get water. After a decent delay, they delivered the salads and 2-3 minutes later delivered the steaks? Another 10 minutes the sides came. My wife’s steak was significantly undercooked (raw) and had to be sent back. The food was good (why 2 stars instead of 0), but the presentation and experience was a distraction and ensured we never return.
Wanted to thank our dear friends for inviting us to this wonderful place. Very nice and friendly restaurant. Amazing private rooms setup with a family style serving. Food taste amazing especially steaks and salads , prepared fresh to order. NY DRY AGED STEAKS 14 OZ is the best steak , Medium Prepared. And finally ice creams are home made, not commercially prepared like other places. Service is great , A+ for the stuff. They treated uslike a family. The rumor is, it was Phillip Johnsons favorite place. Highly recommended. A+
As always, …..CONGRATULATIONS!!!Louis, our server unique.John silva Sommelier, perfect.Manager Laura, how do yo do to management in this perfect way???CONGRATULATIONS
Melissa Trumbull is the Partner in Residence. She actively roams the dining room - overseeing every detail of her guests. Half my party ordered sirloin steaks, beef filets - tender as can be!!, I had the crab salad chopped and 2 amazing lobster crab cakes. Yummy, yummy!! Home run!! Can’t wait to return Soon!! Xoxoxo Bonnie
Nothing special service was 3rd rate. Our server was nowhere to be found when needed and was more interested in texting than waiting our table
I have been to Capital Grill a few times and it has been the best dining experience every time! The food the service are always spot on! They are known for there steak but the menu goes far beond. Wait staff are pros and can make great recommendations. I am not big on deserts but will always make sure I try something off there great menu! Enjoy!!
This place never disappoints! Outstanding service, great food, amazing location!
Quality food & excellent Service My salad was a beautiful big portion, however, dressing was a bit too much. Oysters & Lobster tail were delicious and hand towel with lemon was a nice touch at the end of our meal.
We decided to come to this restaurant after reading reviews and we were not disappointed. Staff is super friendly.
I would love to give the Capital Grill a full 5 stars as the service (outstanding) ambiance and food was absolutely superb. Sadly my steak was over-cooked having asked for rare and got medium. However it was a great experience with great wine and a private room to ensure business is kept within four walls.
A great atmosphere, wonderful wait staff! Loved it!!!
I had high expectations when I booked for a trip to New-York with my mother for her 80th birthday. We dined before seeing the Rockettes Christmas Spectacular.Everything was just as, and even more than I had hoped. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like royalty. Our server James attended to every need before we ever had to ask. He was knowledgeable, pleasant and his attention to detail was incredible.Members of the management team checked on us regularly and all support staff were diligent, professional and friendly. The food was unbelievably delicious and the ambiance is one of luxury and comfort. The quality of service is off the charts and worth every penny.I highly recommend this restaurant and will most definitely return next time I am in New-York.Thank-you for making our evening special.
One of the top restaurants in NYC. Always excellent. & customer driven. Delicious food and amazing wine list and cocktails!
Had a delicious dry aged piece of meat. Had Anthony as a waiter. Very friendly and well explaining the wine menu. Well come here again when back in NYC. Nice restaurant week menu for a very good price. Make reservations.
Went there for a dinner, greate place, greate service, but food... We have asked for medum stakes and they dried to well done. I dont think this is acceptable to such a pricy place. It would be my favorit place, but not...
Crowded bar area right after work, stopped in here for a drink and to enjoy a conversation with friends. Its noisy but not a bad place to grab a quick drink.
Beautiful medium rare Filet & Lobster Tail. Great atmosphere, attentive wait staff.
Love the onion soup and LOLLIPOP 🍭 Lamb chops 😋Both NYC and Miami ..
Wonderful dining experience with amazing food
Place an order to pick up @11:50 am it is @12:12 and the food still not ready! Very disaapointed about this specially when the restaurant is empty
I am not a fan of the capital grille. This was my first time going for a business dinner and we had a private room. The food was good and prepared well but the service was pretty terrible and the business its self is stale. Having an upscale restaurant means more than charging high prices. It has to be an experience. This was anything but. The service felt as if we were dinning at Applebees. When someone is standing up and speaking at a private table dont walk around filling water glasses and ask them to move. Dont come into the room and ask people to move because the wine you need for other tables is behind where you sat them. Dont set up a table that only takes up half the room so tight together that everyone is squished in. The list goes on but Ill leave it at that. Food was good, service was not, and when in a city with plenty of options it is not a good choice.
One of the best places to get really great meat! Try the in fashion cocktail, it is amazing. Portions are really big, so 1-2 sides are usually enough for two people. Meat can also be shared. Recommended if you want to have space for dessert ;)
My family and I went to Capital Grill near Rockefeller Center over the weekend. We were on vacation and it was our pre theatre dinner before leaving on Sunday morning. We had a delicious dinner including killer martinis, Filet Mignon, Salmon, Calamari and wedge salads. We all loved every dish. It was also so relaxing as they advised that they would have us out in time to make our Broadway show that evening. After we left and right before our show began, a man named Miles from the restaurant called and advised that we left one of our debit cards at dinner. The restaurant would be closed by the time we got out of the show, and wouldn’t open prior to our flight. Miles was beyond calming and thoughtful. He first offered to bring the card to me after the show!!! I was floored by his service and his offer. He also offered to bring it to our hotel and leave it with the concierge. He was soooo beyond amazing. He told the front desk to ask for my ID when I went to retrieve it and it was in a sealed envelope. Not only did we have a delicious and relaxing dinner, but I have never experienced such amazing service and treatment. Miles saved our trip and gave us a wonderful story of kindness that we will take with us. He even called the next day to make sure we received it!!! I will 100% be coming back for many many more meals, especially knowing the service is second to none. If you go to Capital Grille ask for Miles for the best service EVER!
We had a great meal at Capital Grille. Rob the waiter was very helpful and friendly. They had some nice little treats for my birthday. Food was great as always. Looking forward to coming back !!!
Absolutely a stellar experience. We came before a show. If you want the theatre prefixe menu, youll need to specifically ask for it. Its a great deal!
The food was delicious, and our server, Maria, was fantastic! She was so kind and answered all of our questions about the menu very well. We will be going back!!!
Our waiter wasnt the best like previous visits but the food was amazing as always.
Great service and food
My friend and I went to eat here for restaurant week and our waiter George R, was amazing. He explained everything and made us feel comfortable. I had the Salmon and it was super delicious. Definitely would return but only if George can wait on us lol.
I had a surprise birthday dinner from my wife and the experience was fantastic after we were seated a birthday card with nice wishes from the staff was on the nicely decorated table and was greeted by Princess who gave great recommendations for our meal from the daily specials the lobster bisque arrived and very tasty then ate dinner and was surprised by birthday dessert with a candle that was amazing...Creme Brulee and Chocolate Round ( A small round cake but more like a chunk of chocolate rounded) very good white wine that I enjoyed with my wife . We will definitely return
First class food and service which you would expect at Capital Grille. Pricey but good! We went there before a show and were able to have a nice leisurely dinner in time for the show. They have a great drink, the Stoly Dolly, which is pineapple infused vodka, infused over 36 hours!
Went here on Thursday night, Oct 17, before our Broadway play with a party of three. Everything we had wAs cooked and presented perfectly. Two of ya had the filet mignon and one had the lamb chops with the creamed spinach and mashed potatoes. We also had salads and desserts all for $45. The service was impeccable and the food perfect. All three of us highly recommend this restaurant. Thank you for offering such a good deal before our play.
Absolutely love this location everything was perfect for my daughter’s birthday. Exceptional food service and atmosphere
I been to many steak house and this place is mediocre. More like 3.8 star. Atmosphere is nice. The steak is ok service is good. But been to better places. My only recommendation is share ur steaks. Best way to enjoy steak is eating as apprtizer instead of full meal. I think 3-4 cuts of ny strips are enough to enjoy steaks. Try ro order other dish to share and enjoy the meal.
Really great food and atmosphere here. I recommend the *checks menu* everything.
OMG!!! Service was amazing!!! the steak was to die for and the service was absolutely top notch, only thing that killed my vibe was the A**whole cab driver who brought m there, took me on a world tour to jack up the price (thinking im not a new yorker) but thats a whole other story. incredible experience. deserves 10 stars!!!
The food and atmosphere were amazing. Manhattan prices but worth every penny. Every appetizer, entree, and desert was made to perfection and the waiter was a seasoned professional who added to the experience. Highly recommend.
Great service and amazing menu. And they give a rose at the end!
We had amazing Thanksgiving turkey !
Marvelous experience and the ambience was relaxing. Great food at a decent price. Staff was very nice and we didn’t feel ignored. Great place.
Calamari and sliders were phenomenal. Might be the best calamari Ive had. It was a light batter, with some peppers and the fish wasnt chewy. Good stuff. Service was great.
I arrived with family members in late afternoon after a business meeting and, for me, a 3 hour early morning train ride. Unlike their competitor, we were greeted warmly and seated promptly. The wait and kitchen staff was most accomodating. Thank you for your great service.
Got the burger take away. Excellent medium rare cooking. Generous patty with mushrooms, onions, and a decadent account of melting cheese. Comes with lettuce, tomatoes and pickles. Large amount of fries! Delicious with the buttered buns.$22 (or on special on restaurant week). Would be nice to have some alioli with the fries!
The Capital Grille never disappoints, great steaks, with friendly and professional service.
The Kona-rubbed steak is excellent. So is the calamari. Everything Ive had there has been superb. I mention those two because theyve become my regular. This outpost has outdoor seating so my husband and I were able to celebrate our 25th anniversary there while indoor dining is still off-limits due to the pandemic.
Great food and service like you expect from Capital Grill. Probably more known for their steaks but the Roasted Chicken was one of the best weve had. Busy but very accommodating for business parties or those with little ones in their party.
One of the most memorable meals I have ever had. I was blown away by the service... the food was prepared perfectly. I cant wait to go back to this very special place.
Terrible dining experience! We had a reservation and were seated at the most exposed table. People walked in from the street and sat at the warmer (more protected) tables without checking in with hostess. Space heaters balancing on champagne buckets in a bare wedding tent. Stayed for 30 minutes and heard nonstop Miley Cyrus songs playing on Radio 1. Manager kept slamming the door to the storage area while pulling out folding tables and chairs around us. Not on par with outdoor dining for NYC. Definitely not up to the standards of Capital Grille.
I will say that I didnt find the service as exceptional as other locations Ive dined in. The waiter left empty glasses on the table instead of taking them when he brought out the refills, they didnt clean the table before bringing out the next course. They were kind and added a laugh here and there. No one asked if we were there celebrating anything, which is usually the first question I hear in their restaurants, especially since we did come for an occasion.
Food:- Dry aged Porterhouse steak - a very good deal in terms of meat to price ratio (24 oz for $54), it was a bit bland and could have used a bit more seasoning though- Dry aged NY Strip au Poivre - The steak is the same as the Dry aged NY strip, except they put some peppercorns, and sauce on top. Unfortunately, they were all cooked separately rather than together as it should have been.We had reservations for our party and all were present, but werent seated until 30 minutes later (it was also pretty cramped at the bar). They had a nice card and some birthday confetti on the table which made it a bit festive though.Service - friendly, but not quite on top of it, we had to request the liquor menu a couple times, which turned out just to be an ipad (would have been faster/easier for us to just do this ourself if we had known)
Would not recommend for large groups. Sat with a 20+ person corporate lunch in a private room. The service was extraordinarily slow and the food was lukewarm. Due to the delay of the food, we asked for half our meals to be packed but the staff did not pack the correct orders to go. As a result we had many members of our group eating out of to-go boxes.
Went for a birthday dinner, I was so happy to see that the table had been decorated with birthday decor for the birthday boy, waiter was so awesome he check in so often to make sure everyone was having a good time. Best birthday dinner. Thank you Edgar Tzul!
You always know what you’re going to get. Consistent no matter the location or the state.Burgers are a hidden gem here as most everyone opts for the steak.
Can’t ruin a Caesar salad, right?Capital Grille did. The Caesar salad here was awful. The lettuce wasn’t crisp and was oversalted. The dressing wasn’t balanced. The croutons were underseasoned. Even the nice and accommodating waitress Alayna couldn’t save the day.
We had a NY strip and enjoyed it, however it wasnt by any means the best, for apps we had lobster bisque and fried calamari both ok.
Recently dined there during a NY family vacation with 2 kids (10 and 13 yrs). Service was great, the kids shared an appetize and a steak - the kitch had already prepared smaller portions for them to share.Portions are not overly large, but you wont go home hungry. The steaks were grilled exactly to point, with a very nice crust.Wine selection is huge, I liked the iPad wine list with lots of information about the wines and wineries, along with search capabilities.
Great experience 👍🏾. Work event and the staff were amazingly friendly and efficient.
We frequent Capitol Grille every time we travel and I have to say that this location by far is the worst. Went on two separate occasions and both times the steak was charred and tasteless. Tonight we came to the location on 42nd and it did not disappoint.
We chose to dine at Capital Grille because of several glowing reviews we read. Unfortunately, our experience didn’t match those reviews. The restaurant looked and felt like an “old school” steakhouse; from its decor, lighting and service. They also seemed best geared towards return customers versus new diners. For an appetizer, we ordered lobster and crab cakes. The dish was served barely warm and it tasted like steak, as if cooked in the same pan/grill as their steaks. The delicate flavor of the lobster and crab was lost.We ordered a filet mignon cooked to medium and a dry aged NY strip au poivre cooked to rare. The filet was good but compared to other steaks at comparable restaurants, it falls short in flavor. The dry aged was the most disappointing dish of all. The only flavor in the dish was the pepper. Why yes, I would like some steak with my pepper, thank you. I did however, enjoy the mashed potato side.I did have their Stoli Doli martini which is the one thing, I highly recommend. The beer selection however, was limited. We were so disappointed with the entire meal that we chose not to have dessert. Shocker for us!
Everyone was so friendly and the food was delicious . I came here on my anniversary and they were very nice and prepared a small surprised for us. We got the crankcase and the crabs were so fresh and still had large pieces if crab meat which I appreciate . The corn that came with it was cold but seasoned well. For the main course we had shared a filet mignon cooked medium rare and it melted in your mouth. We had a side of truffle fries and those tasted so good as well. We were so full and very satisfied. Almost forgot about the drinks which was pretty strong. They offered to redo it but we accepted it and drank it slowly. Really enjoyed out time here.
Dinner is already good here and the service is excellent 👍#romantic #happyhour
Great location and great food. The lamb chops were cooked perfectly, just as we requested. Juicy and wonderful. The Caeser salad was also perfect. And the different kinds of rolls with butter--great. Worth every penny.
The aged NY strip was a 10/10. Dont get the veal, and the roasted mushrooms were insanely dry. Price doesnt match the flavor outside of the strip.
Delicious! We came during restaurant week and had a phenomenal three course meal. Our server Stephanie was super nice to us. I would highly recommend it!
Went to Capital Grille to have dinner with my girlfriend before the show at Radio City. Made it there at about 6:40Pm and was seated shortly after. The decor was great, we were seated over next to the restrooms but the space was so well designed you didnt feel like you were next to a restroom at all. We told the waiter that we had a show at 8Pm if we would be able to make it and he assured us wed be in good shape. The food is a bit on the pricy side but it was well worth it. We ordered a Filet Mignon which was much better than most we come accross, a fresh mozzarella, tomato and basil salad which was amazing as everything was extremely fresh and delicious, the lobster mac and cheese which was great and the potatoes Au Gratin which was truly amazing. The only difficulty i had was that our waiter kept getting what i ordered wrong and ended up paying for a wine which was twice what i had intended because he gave me the wrong wine. It was hard to believe that we went over $120 from just those four things and the 2 glasses of wine we had, the food and overall experience was pleasant and id definately recommend the Capital Grille to others who want to spend a nice night out to dinner at a place that has both notably better than average food and a very accommodating staff. Only warning that it can get a bit loud if youre seated anywhere near the front as a lot of business types are usually at the bar and theyre quite noisy. It didnt detract from the experience but its good to know!
Great meat. Good service. Expensive wine
I personally drop off dozen flowers at Capital Grille on 51st so they could put it on our table before we got Seated before. I had a 3 course meal drinks and pay my bill. and no one bring the flowers to me and my fiancé No one bring the flowers on till we are walking out the door I had to remind him managers about my flower. SMFH only thing they said was sorry. Wow 👎👎👎
A warm and friendly greeting when you first arrive. Waiters are knowledgeable in all aspects of dining. Lunch and Dinner specials are very economical for N.Y. Food is fresh and well prepared.
Amazing! Perfect from start to finish! Highly recommend!
The food was very lack luster. The highlight of the night was the Brussel sprouts .. yes the Brussel sprouts! My filet mignon was dry and TOUGH. The Crab cake wasn’t tasty at all, I was embarrassed I brought my BF here for his birthday!! Smh
Horrible customer service. Rude stuff. Food is somewhat great. They dont advise you sides costs extra money and I ended getting surprised on the bill. Decor is super outdated and weird. Especially the pictures on the wall. I highly dont reccomend this restaurant.
Food was great, but waiter was awful. Getting list of specials required asking twice, impossible to get more drinks ordered. Space was VERY tight and cramped, despite making reservation for group of 6 weeks in advance.
The best grill in the town. If I were you are I would get the the appointment ahead on the Fridays and weekends.
Attended as a birthday celebration, service was on point, food, and service. Will attend again!
Lousy service. I waited for my server to take my order for 45 minutes. Though he occasionally glanced at me and could probably see, by the end, I was getting impatient he never stopped by my table. When finally I managed to make him stop by and mentioned the 45 minutes wait he was extremely insolent and totally un-apologetic. Not to worry sir, next time you come well try to hook you up with some food was his reply. I took that as my cue to leave (left three dollars on the table for the bread though, for I had eaten some).
My boyfriend and I came to the Capital Grille for his birthday. Aside from a winter storm that was due to hit later in the evening, the staff did everything possible to make it an evening to remember. When we were seated at our table, there was a handwritten note wishing him a happy birthday. We then received complimentary champaign to further celebrate. Our waiter, Brian, gave us exceptional service, making sure everything was to our liking. The Calamari appetizer was indescribably delicious. Then, after an amazing dinner of the Porcini rubbed Delmonico steak, Jim was presented with a Happy Birthday plate of dessert, and we headed back to the hotel with a photograph that Brian had taken of us.If you want an exceptional experience at a fabulous restaurant, I cant say enough about the great time and top notch service we received at The Capital Grille (Time-Life Building).
Great food. I’ve been to multiple locations and the consistency in terms of quality always amazes me. We had fantastic service with Anthony as our server.
Absolutely delicious. Nothing like a fantastic experience. Always a good choice when in NY. Wonderful service & outstanding food. Steaks were cooked to perfection.
Unfortunately, the money is not worth it. This place is very loud. The highest priority of the staff is to serve fast, to sell the same table again and again. We were neither welcome nor comfortable. The food is average therefore too expensive. Wrong drinks brought.
Highly recommend the Porcini Rubbed Bone-In Ribeye with 15-Year Aged Balsamic.
Excellent food and service. Beet salad and porterhouse were top notch.
Five Stars place, 1A+ in food taste, quantity and presentation, Recommended
One of the better restaurants in NYC, in my opinion. Highly recommend
I was only here for the burger on the recommendation of a friend, and was thoroughly impressed. The gal behind the bar was very friendly, had a good burger tip for me, and got me out of there quick. Classy place--obviously--as well.
It was a really disappointing visit, we went there during the restaurant week, the steak was okay but the dessert and soup were just bad. Plus for a steakhouse you would expect to see more interesting red wine on their menu but not here.
From the moment you are greeted at this Rockefeller Center Capital Grill you are treated as if you were a personally invited guest! Oysters from the raw bar and perfectly prepared steaks were so enjoyed. Nice wine selections. Our servers were outstanding.Bravo!
Highly recommend this place for those wanting a quality stake and service.
I done at Capitalle about every month or two. I go for Lobster Bisque (its always there, just ask for it by name. They will also give sherry at no charge.)Quality of food and staff is impeccable. Note: Ive been to four locations throughout NYC.....received the same dish, prepared the right way, every time! They have quality control down to a science.I reccomend am old fashioned to drink, filet mignon, and lobster bisque!
I love the place! Delicious food and great service! The manager, Maria is very nice, friendly and welcoming! I recommend the ribeye, calamari and crab cake!
My friends took me here for my birthday today, and i must say, I really liked it. Food was good and the service was great. I had the ceasar salad and then the 8oz filet mignon with creamy spinachThey also validate the parking.
Great food and service. Accomating to children (well behaved). My family and I dined there on Christmas Eve, before going to the Radio City show. Definitely recommend.
Lovely experience during Restaurant week. Our server was great. My salmon was a little bland, but others enjoyed their food!
The LOBSTER BISQUE is to die for!!! Its creamy and flavorful full of LOBSTER.. I had to order it twice... I mean like really! The service is amazing...!!! The food and drinks :) FANTASTIC.
Food was excellent, service was good but not great (missing some of the touches, such as de-crumbing the table, that youd expect at this type of restaurant). Prices are a little high but the quality of the food comes very close to justifying it.
We had a few steaks, wine and some sides. The food was awesome, the service was great and the setting just right!Would recommend to steak lovers!
You just cant go wrong with the capital grille. the calamari was just right, the bone-in rib eye steak, stoli doli and oh my.. the tender seared with lobster was incredible.the creme brulee was a great way to end it on a perfect note
Cole was awesome! We had such a delicious dinner & experience here.
Lobster Salad and Steak Sandwich were delicious!!
A great place and the restaurant is beautiful.
Excellent service delicious food. Will be back. NY Classic spot!
The service here is amazing. The food, from presentation to taste is superb. The black tie margarita is to die for. I recommend this restaurant a 100x.🙂.
Good quality of steak
Restaurant week has same food as normal dining menu
Top notch
