Went there for the 3 to 5 happy hour and enjoyed the $1 oysters! They have fantastic tapas as well and the croquettas were fantastic as were the oysters. Their cocktails are great -tried the Mexican Diaquiri which was great as an afternoon drink on a hot summer day. The music was great and the clientele were young, vibrant people. They have outdoor and indoor seating. The service was fabulous!
GREAT happy hour option. $1 oysters and a $20 carafe of wine. The place got filled up at the bar pretty quickly, but it has a back room with a long table and an outdoor area. Might be my next oyster spot! (And will still come back for tapas too)
Sitting out here on a Saturday afternoon felt like what I assume Paris or some other cultured European city must feel like but with the sights and sounds of the east village (i.e. loud hot and dirty i.e. great). We had the carafe of Chardonnay for $20 and it was perfectly serviceable. Anchovies, burrata and olives were all excellent, anchovies in particular. We also had 10 happy hour oysters and they were as good as one could possibly expect for $1. My partner had three and I had seven but I will eat a borderline oyster because I am fiend and these were definitely above borderline. We will be back and soon.
The atmosphere of this place is great - small and intimate lighting. It’s a tapas style bar with happy hour specials. $1 oysters and $15 carafes of wine. The oysters weren’t my favorite, but my husband liked them. I was a little turned off because every one I had had bits of broken shell in it. The tapas were pretty good. We tried the steak and tuna tartare which were lovely, and then the mushrooms croquettes. The croquettes weren’t my favorite, a little too creamy for my taste but they were made well. The service was okay, they were nice but didn’t visit the table very often so it was hard to put in another order/felt bad waving them down to keep getting things. Overall I probably wouldn’t come back here for food but I might stop by for a drink.
The food was fresh and delicious. The wine was great too. The service was excellent and the venue is clean and very nicely set up. I really liked the vibe. I also recommend everything on the menu. I hope to come back here soon because it was a great experience.
These is a great place to enjoy a conversation with the perfect music and lighting, the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about their wines.Darwin os a sweet hard and knows how to treat a customer.
If I ate here more often then perhaps a fourth star. This was a one-off trying to kill an hour.It was a carafe of red and 18 oysters. The house red was perfect and the oysters still had some of the ocean still in them.A nice experience. Go.
We only got the charcuterie and cheeseboard, some sardines, and the orange wine. It was all good!
Amazing oysters for $1 each happy hour very plump and tasty. Their happy hour chardonnay also pairs really well with the oysters. Would be an easy 5 stars if the seats were more comfortable. They use metal barstools which its really uncomfortable to sit in for long periods.
Small wine bar with a great vibe they have a great wine selection and oysters from different regions
Awesome happy hour for sure; wide range of options from tapas menu and a huge wine list. Getting a seat is challenging and service is a little awkward (sometimes you order at the bar and then other times from server...but the actual people are very nice) but the food quality is great. Especially good for catching up with friends over a bite and drink but not full dinner. Great spot all around!
They served us a warm bottle of wine. Glad they at least accepted that we wouldnt take the bottle and made it easy for us to leave without paying.Idk if their fridge broke, but no winebar should ever be serving warm wine. Makes me think other things are amiss in that place, and that many of their bottles might be spoiled (e.g. the Jeroboams that are seemingly not refrigerated). Besides that, theres interesting bottles in the wine list but the list has many gaps. Theres much better bars in the area with better lists, better glassware, and better service.
I had wanted to try some natural wines while we were in New York and this is the place we found. Very cozy and cool spot. The wines were fantastic and Im a convert to the styles I tried. The food looked fantastic and actually made us wish we were hungry. It would have been nice if the bartenders saved us from the overbearing local on my left at the bar - dude was obviously killing our vibe - but youll have that sometimes.
My new favorite oyster spot, also had the best shrimp nachos and good salmon tartare!! Happy hour for oyster is from opening(3pm on weekend and 5pm on weekdays) to 7pm :)
This place has some amazing drinks and also food! The bourbon apple cider is soooo gooood!! The atmosphere is really fun and the people are super nice. Definitely recommend coming here with friends or family
Smallest happy hour every. Despite oyster HH is 1.50 its the size of a dime
It is my favorite happy hour place in LES. They have $1 oyster deals which is amazing and yummy. The appetizers are small portions but make easy snacks. The service is quick and easy. I go atleast once in 2-3 weeks!
This place is awesome! Great service, food and most importantly the wine! Great time!
My favorite happy hour for so many years!! Never gets old. Service is great, vibe, food, wine is all fabulous 👌
Were there during natural wine week and it was packed. But it sounded like that was unusual. Think it would be more fun on a slower night so you could talk to the bartenders more about the wines. But the wine we had was great. And it’s a cute space.
One of the most disappointing dinners during my 7 years of NYC dining. Was invited to a private event with a set menu, so I was able to examine most of the monstrous menu. We started with canned, garlicky and over salted sardines and then served cold mushrooms with some mysterious broth and ice cold meat balls hard as rocks. The salad was bland and the beef tartare had more horseradish than beef tartare, not to mention the shrimp cakes which were still frozen on the inside. We were then shocked to have been served mac n cheese that tasted like a drunk-post-frat-party munch alongside some odd tasting hams and cheese toasts that were soggy. The service was fine and our waiters were helpful, but finishing the night with $170 per person and heading home to eat some proper food left me astounded that this place is in business. Last but not least, the only bathroom sink in the restaurant was broken, meaning customers and employees spent the evening with unwashed hands… delightful. In a cityThat is known for having more restaurants than you can ever try, avoid this one at all costs
Ten Bells!!The place we met. The most amazing wine bar with great food and the friendliest service. Celebrating our wedding day here was a no brainer! Thank you to everyone here for always making our visits special.
Great natural wine selection.Fresh oysters and awesome tapas style bites. Service is fantastic.
Oysters wine and mac n cheese
The Ten Bells is undeniably the best wine bar in the city, boasting an exceptional tapas menu, friendly staff, and an inviting atmosphere. A perfect blend of exquisite, organic wines and delightful small bites makes it a must-visit for wine enthusiasts seeking a memorable experience!
Great organic wines and a very knowledgeable staff. Very hip as well. Happy Hour cheap oysters. If you’re gonna drink drink buy a bottle, they have wine from all over the world, but curated. Great classic tapas.
A decent enough wine selection though some of their white wines are just plain weird. Good $1 happy hour oysters! One of the waiters was clearly intoxicated and kept being rude. What a turn off...
Me and my wife were walking by with our dog and found this lovely wine bar. Two words , Happy hour! It’s great, and the backyard is quiet. The backyard has a classic NY vibe(think getting drunk on your fire escape on ground floor, with a better ambiance). Definitely check it out if you haven’t already, it’s worth it.
Very good vibe and staff. I really enjoy the variety of wines, and the tapas menu is really cool. Everything was super good, and the food was hot. Nothing out of proportion and the wines were really nice. The staff was friendly and nice. Really good spot to talk drink and have a nice time.
Watch out for the check as several people at our table, with separate tabs, got a surprise item they didn’t order; and then got the waiter making faces when he was refunding less than the right amount, then an attitude when his scheme was called out. In a city where high prices usually come with high quality service, you have to admire the audacity of this place only delivering on the first part.
Oyster happy hour is the best. wonderful wine selection
Came in with my group of friends, Emily was our waitress, the wine was divine, and the overall vibe! Will be back for sure
The happy hour is an event to not miss out on. The tapas and oysters are really good. You should come on the dot as soon as they open, because the sitting is limited and it gets really crowded. Expect the service to become slower when is starting to get filled.
Great drinks selection! The food is amazing too, oysters and Stray Dog gin is the best!
Really liked this bar. Its on a busy street that makes it fun to visit. And it being a wine bar was great - felt a little more upscale and mature. They had our group move from a dedicated table to the bar, and we actually appreciated the change as we got to be closer to the street. They also gave us lots of samples before we picked our glasses, which was much appreciated. Only negative - not a big fan of natural wines.
Great food and wine selection, lovely atmosphere for a date night or a group gathering. The only thing - it gets pretty crowded around the bar area, so make sure to grab your table in advance. Also, it felt very hot and humid inside, I wish they had AC given how hot it is during NYC summers.
Great spot to have oysters. I dont know what kind of sauce they are using for them but its really good. Its dark and cozy rate for a date night but I went there with my. It was happy hour and a little crowded but not overly so. No huge criticism there. It was a little odd though. How do I explain . . .? Have you ever been someplace where someones not quite sure what to do with you. I dont know imagine going to a Supercuts and asking for extensions. It was like that but we werent asking for anything that wasnt on the menu. It was just an awkward kind of feeling. Not sure Id visit again
This is a great place to grab some oysters, appetizers and drinks. The atmosphere is great and the staff were very nice. I would recommend this to anyone in the area.
Great space great wine list great staff great food and awesome playlist
I didnt try any of the tapas, but the wine I tried was good. The ambiance is dark and lively. Its a great place to grab either pre- or post-dinner drinks and snacks. They have a great Happy Hour menu. The servers were pretty attentive for the amount of people that were seated. Im looking forward to going back during Happy Hour.
Oysters were great for the price. Found some to be a bit too salty honestly but overall nice experience especially for their happy hour deal! The tartare was just okay, honestly would come back just for the happy hour oysters next time :)
Good fresh oystersFantastic charcuterie boardWhite wine paired great with everything(All on happy hour menu)Dimly lit, music, good vibes, intimate but loud, lot of people
Beautiful place ! They have an outdoor seating all the way at the back. A huge dining room style table for shared seating and bar seating in the front. They have good choice of small plates and portions are literally small. I wish they had A/C in the seating area. It got humid and hot and we moved our tables to outdoor. Our server suggested a bottle for our table to pair with the food we ordered. Overall a decent experience.
We had an amazing time at Ten bells. They offer daily a 1$oyster happy hour, and the oysters are so delicious.Besides we ordered several small dishes, they have a great sea food variation. The service was great, they always ensured we have enough food and wine!
Great spot. Good vibes and surprisingly good food for a bar!
Great spot for wine. Also they’re open late and have an amazing happy hour!
Stopped for a happy hour wine after the tenement museum. Great rise and had 2 glasses of wine each for $20. Atmosphere was great would go back for the food
Ten Bells has always been a consistently great spot in the neighborhood and a place I come back to time and time again. Really romantic and cozy, I especially love it in winter time, but its great year round. The wine list is extensive and the staff is knowledgeable. Definitely recommend!
First time coming to ten bells and it was fun. I love the place and the food was delicious. it was happy hour for the oysters and also had the salmon tartar. its small and intimate place, so get there early. had seats at the bar so it was convenient. would definitely go again.
Absolutely shocking. Food portions are for a mouse. Server was miserable. Horrible atmosphere. Extremely dirty. Waste of money!
It gets pretty busy during happy hour so make sure to grab a seat early! The oysters taste fresh but theres no cocktail sauce nor horseradish. Besides that, the happy hour Cote du Rhone isnt bad and the steak tartar is to die for!
This is a great spot for a lower cost meal and drinks. Their happy hour features $1.50 oysters and a carafe of wine for $15-20 (I forget exactly how much. Buzzy, intimate atmosphere, good food all around.
Charming place, atmospheric, and excellent food. We went here on a Sunday afternoon on Mothers Day. The wait staff are friendly and helpful, attentive and suave in a good way. The happy hour was fabulous: excellent, very fresh oysters featuring 3 kinds of east coast, perfectly chilled, not over washed (i.e. you can taste the seawater that they came from inside the shell, lending excellent freshness and flavor). We ordered an excellent bottle of white which perfectly complemented the oysters. Our first round for four people: 3 dozen oysters, a cheese and a cured meat selection (all exquisite and of very high quality. Especially the meats which included a wild boar salami and a jamon- they were very authentic, fresh and extremely flavorful and delicious). After that we had to order two dozen more oysters. The oysters, it must be noted are very small- the smallest I have ever had in the shell, but of a very high quality and extremely flavorful. But you might be hungry still after eating two dozen! The only negative: We tried the carafe of happy hour house rose, part of their happy hour special but found it watery and acidic. We spent about $50.00 per person, tip included. I would recommend this to friends and I look forward to going back!
$1 oysters for happy hour?!? Thats the best thing Ive ever heard. I tried this yesterday and it was incredibly fresh with the best garlic-oil mix Ive tasted. Forget the cocktail sauce, use their garlic-oil mix with a light squeeze of lemon and the flavor is all kept intact. You should also keep in mind that its also a wine bar, so youll find a lot of kickass wines to pair with any of the meals on their menu. Its not the biggest place, so youll probably be standing and drinking a beer while having some oysters, but it works pretty well with the theme of the restaurant. Its just so cool and casual. The menu is written on huge chalk boards in either side and the lighting makes it a combination of romantic and lively. I highly recommend this place for a pre-dinner or post-dinner hang out place.
Really good atmosphere and kind service. Will definitely be back
This place has a really cool, casual ambiance -- feels very NYC. A little dark inside, but makes the place feel more intimate. Wasnt crowded at all when we got there around 5:45-6pm on a Wednesday. They have $5 happy hour wines by the glass or $15 for a carafe. They also have $1 oysters. Their sweet burrata dish with honey and figs is delicious! Its on the dessert menu, but I didnt really find it that sweet at all -- totally doable as an appetizer. Papas bravas were decent too -- too much creamy sauce IMHO, but they were crispy and super hot at least.Service, you kinda need to flag them down for whatever you need once the place gets filled, but theyre very attentive to even subtle gestures and eye contact whenever you need something. Food came out SUPER fast. Id definitely come back!
This one of the hottest wine bar in NYC has a wine list that is full of funky and trendy natural wines, but everything is bit pricy and foods are not as fun as their wines. (Taste not bad, but bit boring to be honest) Its unique atmosphere and amazing list of wines are still recommended for anyone who is interested in the world of natural wines, but the poor wine glasses should be changed to better ones. Their wine suggestion was perfect tho.
I went here for happy hour and really enjoyed their $1 oysters and chardonnay. Also, the vibe was pretty nice for meeting friends after work, though I was reading a book.
This place is great. Ive only been for drinks, so cannot attest to the food quality yet but I love the vibe and they have an excellent natural wine list - probably the best Ive seen in the city yet. If you are into interesting wine - this place is a must
Been coming to Ten Bells for years and after the last year and a half of the pandemic I was finally able to visit them again. The same atmosphere, food and incredible natural wine selection. Felt that it was time to let people know that this place never disappoints. Thank you for all the memories and papas bravas
Great happy hour. The venue isnt grand or anything, but it is cozy and the staff are very nice. The website is a bit outdated. It is $20 for a carafe. They also had $1 oysters for HH and great tapas.
My recent experience at the Ten Bells was not enjoyable, particularly, the glasses were stained and chipped, some plates were chipped, too. We found a hair in our meal which they promptly replaced, but the second one also had a hair in it: no apologies, no nothing. It just looked like they were working to ensure the fast turnaround, thus completely ignoring the quality. Giving one extra star for happy-hour $1 oysters and the food in general, but everything else leaves much to be desired. Never coming back!
This is a wine bar done right. The mark up is unbelievably low considering that they have bottles you truly cannot get anywhere else from producers that are hard to track down in the first place. They have what’s popular in natural wine but without being flashy or trendy, and in general have an air of unpretentiousness - the servers were knowledgeable and candid, generous in both their tastes and pours, and really made it about the customer not about selling.
Dollar oysters and $20 carafes of good French wine. Best happy hour imaginable. The ambiance is cozy, the staff is attentive but also laid back, you’ll feel welcomed and at home here. Try the papas bravas and the squid in ink. The croquetas are some of the best you’ll ever eat. In fact, all of the tapas-style food here is tasty and well-priced. And of course a glorious wine list!
Great little place to hit up for Happy Hour and tapas. Located in the trendy LES we were quite happy to stumble upon this little place. It does get quite busy, but grabbing a spot at the bar seems to be the best bet. Service is a bit so-so, with us ending up helping ourselves to cutlery and so forth as required. The food was good we had tapas of; olives, burrata, Spanish tortilla, oysters and steak tartare... and french wine of course. For oyster lovers, they are a $1 a shuck during happy hour.
So, maybe I went on an off night because this place has some great reviews but....Oysters were not shucked correctly. Grit and shells in every oyster. Every oyster!! I love oysters so I just dipped them in my water before eating them but why god why let someone that has zero skill do that to delicious oysters? Not to mention it took forever to get them ( we were a party of 2 and only the third table seated. They were not busy. What really made me give a bad review is that after all that, it was hard to get the attention of staff and they never asked how the food was. Never once came back to the table to check. That seems odd for a well reviewed place. Dunno. Seating was barstool etc. but the music was jazz and nice which is why I gave 2 stars instead of 1. I really wanted this to be worth the 20 min can ride...sigh
Nice low key wine bar that wont break the bank. Good date spot or friend spot for two girls that are going through the motions and not really besties yet, if ever. Food was okay. Staff was very nice and accommodating.
Casually hip with a great assortment of dollar happy hour oysters, not just your usual Malpeques and Blue Points. Happy hour wine best avoided if our sampling of the Rosé on offer is any indication. But otherwise a great wine list, weighted toward a lot of the latest up and coming terroir wines.
$5 wine and $1 oysters during happy hour. They also offer an extensive list of wine. The environment is dark and lively; a great bar to come and grab a quick drink and some tapas in the LES.
The happy hour deals are disappointing, but more-so, their bartenders were horrible! I went on a Thursday evening and it was packed by 6:30. It was a littler strange that there was no host and the bartenders wouldnt even make eye contact as I stood in the entryway by the bar. I waited politely for seats for about ten minutes before my friend arrived, only to find out I would have needed to ask the bartender to put me on a waiting list for them. The bartender made no effort to let me know I was standing around for nothing. The next open seats went to two women who had no wait time because she showed up and asked to be seated. I said, hey, Ive been waiting for like 20 minutes! and instead of apologizing for not being clear about the policy or really anything he made a dismissive point that it had not literally been twenty minutes. Rather than argue about it we just left. Their credit card machine was down so I suspect that made all the servers a little more stressed, but this type of behavior was beyond what I consider a reasonable oh well, hes having a bad night snappy response. I would not recommend this place to anyone without a reservation.
Delicious wine, tasty oysters and other small plates. A lovely Friday night vibe. Did take a while to get seated, and staff werent that friendly at first (understandable as super busy)
$1 Oyster was great deal.I loved their steak tartar (I like the one with horseradish) as well.
One of my fav places in this area for drinks. Sometimes chaotic but always festive and fun at the indoor bar area for their happy hours. Front outdoor area is more relaxing. The food can be hit or miss. The Galas (eel but looks like thin sliced tender white fish) were very good.
Great natural wine bar with an extensive selection. The front of the bar is walk in, but you can make a reservation in advance which will get you a table in the back; it doesn’t have the same lively feel as the front, but if you’ve got a group coming, it’s nice to have the space and it isn’t too loud.
Theres a reason why you will see Ten Bells filled with patrons on any given day/evening. Its a really great spot for snacks & drinks, run by folks who are genuinely hospitable humans. Its that simple. Great natural wine selection, if thats yer bag.
Amazing atmosphere, delicious Oysters 🦪 and Rosé wine. The staff is also extremely friendly ;)
This place is horrifically bad. We arrived and stood just inside the door in front of the host/hostess and they stood there and ignored us for over 5 mins despite repeatedly looking over at us and us saying “hi, excuse me, I think our friends are inside”. We were seated in the back patio (which is gorgeous) and they failed to give us napkins…. Despite repeated requests. Our food arrived and as they came out with it they just grabbed one of the chairs from our table and walked off. The second time they dropped food off at our table they finally brought the napkins and grabbed the cutlery. Repeatedly we tried to ask different waiters and busboys for napkins and water and were ignored for 45 mins. They seated people at the table next to us and came over and interrupted us to literally pick up *another chair* and take it away without acknowledging we were sitting there. The high light of the evening was when we went to pay the bill with our credit cards (tried split 2 days) and they said that their internet was down so we couldn’t pay by card. We asked to Venmo someone and they said no and they sent us 3 blocks over to the nearest ATM. horrifically bad service, horrifically bad management, food was nothing special and I will never be returning.
I was really concerned with the cleanliness in regards to food. Flies were landing on oysters which were sitting on the bar for 10-15 mins at a time before being served, the cole slaw had a rotten mayonnaise taste-smell situation, same with the pickle. Also just had a chance to witness the meat/cheese cutting station and it appeared to be quiet grimy. The 10 bells in Brooklyn is wayyyy better with more space and lighting and food is much fresher there.
Great atmophere. Friendly service. Fast. Good music. Oysters for happy hour one dollar! Good wine. Shrimp nacho and tuna pepper not worth it. Tar tar very good and oysters super fresh!
Cozy tapas style wine bar with an awesome happy hour: $1 oysters and $18 carafes of wine. It’s competitive to get seats if you don’t arrive right at the beginning but there are spots to hang out and have a drink in the meantime.
There were some decent, but not great deals on the happy hour menu for both drinks and some food (though Im a beer drinker and there werent many choices there). The bartenders were both personable and attentive so we never had to wait long for the next round of drinks.
Cool easy going cozy spot with great deals on wine and tapas.. great happy hour deals on wine . Their Spanish empanadas w chorizio is just awesome. Has a cure little patio in the back.
They have a fun and interesting wine selection but the service SUCKS. The last two times Ive been in, the bar staff has been dismissive and inattentive. There are lots of people who know wine and service, they should hire some of them.
Drinking wine, throwing back oysters, all while listening to reggae? Whats not to LOVE about this place. I wish they had more wines by the glass but the vibe is so chill its not gonna prevent me from going back... regularly.
This review is for $1 oyster HH only. 5-7pm daily, even Sat/Sun. They usually have 2-3 varieties. I had Fishers Island and a New Brunswick variety. Tried a couple other small plates which were alright, but I wouldnt come back just for food...Wine list is nice. Beers are in bottles only, no draught. Vain. The space is creepy, with horror story mirrors and the ceiling seemingly caving in. I get the pre-war grandma chic thing, but this particular space gave a haunted house in February feel.
$1 oysters, natural wine selections and a great Happy Hour make for a great evening. The oysters were super fresh and the small dishes were great as well!
Charming spot and great Happy hour deal.
After an hour they said they forgot to put the order in. They said we won’t charge you for those things they forgot though (why would we pay for that). Thanks, you won’t charge me for what you forgot to put in. Slow/bad service and overpriced wines. Honestly the worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant in New York, which is saying something.
An adult venue with $1 oysters and $15 carafes of French wine, accompanied by agreeably volumed music that pleases the ear. Excellent service, and those oysters are superb
A fave spot for trying natural wines and hitting happy hour when in New York!
Good happy hour pricing but the wines on the hh aren’t anything special. Would recommend just ordering a better glass from their list. So hot in the summer and the service is just okay which is a shame i wish someone there was passionate about the wine they are selling
Love this wine bar! Super attentive staff and great happy hour.
The food was amazing. Happy hour is so worth it. It gets busy so expect orders to take a bit.
One of the best in the city. A divine natural wines bar that offers tasteful and delicious tapas. Always a good crowd and vibe, as well as a thorough selection. A must.
Probably my favorite natural wine bar in the city. Small plates, snacks and bites. The shrimp nachos are delicious, avocado with cheese and shrimp in four little tasty bites. Drink all the wines and finish with a Laurent Cazottes eau de vie.
We had appetizers and a glass of wine. Great atmosphere. Friendly staff. Would definitely go again.
Great for a weekday happy hour! The wine is excellently priced at $15 a carafe. The food is good, nice atmosphere.
Decent wine selection and good food
So it smells like fish, the HH is not a great deal and it’s always sooo crowded. I personally would go somewhere else but I guess it’s not the absolute worst place to be
Wonderful astaff and a great selection of wines. If youre looking for something delicious and unique I highly recommend.
Oysters and an amazing wine list. Small, cozy, and warm. Great place and one of the best wine bars in the city. Especially in the LES.
Good place. A lot of different wines to choose from.
Bartender was friendly and knowledgeable, just super helpful. There was great music and atmosphere
The wines are posted on a board. Their bartenders are super friendly and a lot of places to sit. I did not go to the back rooms but it does look like there is more space.
Ehh. Not sure what the hype is. It’s a typical east village vibe bar with a good selection of wine. If you want wine, come here. Otherwise, there are better spots in the area for food and drinks.
I really like this place. It has a great atmosphere and probably the best prices in all of NYC. The place was packed and the staff didnt miss a beat on service. My wife and I liked it so much that we went back the next day. Keep up the good work!
Natural wine (no preservatives) means you need to prepare for more fresh and wild/funky flavors. The tapas is also pretty great!
Very unique and tasty wines, and knowledgeable staff. Cozy, casual, neighborhood vibe. All the patrons seem happy. Can get loud.
Very nice place with an impressive natural wine list.Food is good too, small plates to share with friends.Love it!
Great happy hour but get there early place fills up guickly. Cool atmosphere with small back patio
Fab happy hour!
I found this place by chance. Very nice if you want to have a romantic date. Nice selection of wines and tapas. The atmosphere is warm and sexy.
My friends and I were walking down the street and recognized this resturant from social media saying that it’s one of the best happy hrs in the city. Instagram lied to me again. The ambiance of this resturant was great along with the music and vibe. It’s too bad I couldn’t eat that instead of the oysters we received. The oysters were the worst I’ve ever put in my body, and tasted like they were fished out of the Hudson River last week. They were served without ice and they were extremely grainy and fishy tasting. They were in a pool of nasty water with bits of shell as garnish. If this was the only problem I could forgive it, but the service was rude and slow. I completely understand that this is a busy resturant, but our waiter got upset that we only wanted to try the house wine as our first round. I can only speak for the red but it was subpar even for the happy hr price. They waiter tried to upsell us the carafe of wine, but we just wanted to try different samples of wine, and not just one big portion of red. When we placed our order they huffed and said, “ugh fine” and walked away annoyed. They have a really extensive and impressive wine and alcohol list, but unfortunately we didn’t try it due to the slow service and the rude waiter. Maybe the waiter was having an off day? I’m not sure, but I’m also sure I would never try their food again.I will note that the other tables seemed to be enjoying their food (they didn’t order oysters). If you come to this resturant, I would recommend that you skip the happy hr and just order from their wine list. $1 oysters aren’t worth picking out broken shell out of your mouth. The outdoor area seemed like a good date spot.
Great experience. Went for 1 dollar oyster happy hour (from opening til 7pm) and was very satisfied, oysters were a good size and plenty tasty. The other appetizers were real good too. Service was good. Would definitely come back.
Decent tapas. Good wine list but limited beer list. I was a little underwhelmed with the service but maybe it was an off night for me or them.
Very cozy and pleasant atmosphere to hang with friends and drink a good selection of wine. Looks small from the outside, but don’t make the mistake I did, there is more room in the back.
Get a glass and enjoy the list. (Get a bottle if your can!)Staff is great, ambiance is great. Trust the environment and bring friends - all the above will guide you to a fantastic experience.
Felt very pushy. At the end, bill was significantly higher than expected because they charged the highest rate they had for the normal order of glass of white wine. It was probably pretty obvious to them that we were on a first date so I wasnt going to scrutinize the check.
Great happy hour with nice carafe deals for splitting with friends. Nice tapas and wine list.
Cosy place for a drink. Subtle lighting and friendly service. Happy hour serves reasonably priced wine by the carafe. Great music selection too. Think eclectic with indie leanings.
Ten Bells is a go to happy hour spot with $1 oyster and carafes of wine you can’t go wrong!! And now they are in Bushwick and LES!!!
$1 oysters and $18 wine carafes until 7, 3 types of oysters. Service was meh, 3 types of oysters (all tasted the same), and no saltines.
A bit tight if sitting at the bar..and with the overwhelming crowds service can be sometimes slow, but the staff are very knowledgeable about the menu and the food and drinks are wonderful...you cant go wrong with the house wine and tapas galore..try the potatoes and octopus
Always a great bar to chill out during happy hour. The $1 oysters are terrific.
I love Ten Bells. Wonderful natural wine sections and great small bits! Plus a great oyster happy hour
Interesting natur wine list but with no staff prepared to explain them, they are inattentive and annoying. The food is good but high- priced.
Definitely going back. The oysters were amazing and the tapas were awesome and everything was so decently priced.
$1 Oysters, great house wines at $20, perfection
Always a great wine selection. The papas bravas are straight up dangerous.
Awesome house Chardonnay for happy hour, great oysters and tapas were to die for. Will be back ASAP!
Nice wine list, friendly bartenders, good-looking patrons, hip vibe, back room with a long communal table. Cash only, as I recall.
Great selection of natural wine in a dark, cozy environment. Staff are relaxed and more than willing to provide recommendations or general conversation. Felt lucky to sample the recently released 2017 susucaru as it was delicious and in plentiful supply.
My favorite spot in Manhattan for oysters. The special is astounding. The appetisers are great.
Didnt find the beer options to be exceptional for a place that sticks to beer and wine. Service was good, overall not super memorable.
Fun wine bar. Very loud and it’s quite hard to get the server. Pretty tasty food!
Always a great selection on wine and food. Great service.
Cute, cozy, romantic, and a lot of other great adjectives apply, but wine and oysters are the important nouns here.
Great meatballs and tasty wine... recommended for a nice date or just to enjoy of wine variety
Really nice place. Feels like a bar but the wines meat and cheeses are quality.
The outdoor space is very nice! I recommend if you have a group of people to try and book the space near there as well as the outdoor space!
Great wine (nice selection of natural wines) and tasty tapas but the bartender was rude and when we didn’t leave 15% tips (which he considered the minimum) he chased us to demand a higher amount
Our go to spot for $1 oysters and free flowing rosé! Chris is also the GOAT! Can’t wait to come back!
Dark, cozy, unpretentious wine bar with an outstanding drinks list, including natural wines. Food looked good but we didnt have anything to review. Server was knowledgeable and fast without being pushy. Great experience for a drop-in, love to go back on a busy night some time.
The perfect anytime spot. Date? Afterwork? Late Night? After Dinner? All great. You cant go wrong here!
Nice wine bar. Went here before a show at Bowery ballroom for a bottle of wine and small plates
So many choices of wine, great happy hour, and absolutely delicious food
Great selection to lurk through. It gets pretty packed here so social distancing can be scarce. We went to the back, that was empty. It was great, orange wine is to die for.
It’s definitely a dive but the food and drinks are great. They need more Spanish wines by the glass though! Where’s my Albariño?
We came in looking for a glass of mulled wine. Even though, they didn’t have any, they had delicious $1 oysters and $20 carafes of red wine. Absolutely delightful experience with great staff and an awesome atmosphere. Definitely a place for a joyful stumble.
$1 oysters and $15 carafes of wine in a great Lower East Side location.
Our favorite wine bar in Manhattan, great vibes especially after work on a weekday
Dollar oysters on the weekend? Sign me up. Ill be here pretty much every Saturday from now on.
Love Ten Bells so much Im really tempted to give it a horrible review so more people dont discover how wonderful it is.
Small plates may fill you up faster than youd expect! Service is up and down. May be a bit small, dark, and communal for some.
Great wine bar. Not as lowkey as I expected but they have a good list
Love this place but sometimes get crazy crowded. Well priced drinks and oysters!
Good food, great selection of wines, but always packed.
Great happy hour and solid ambiance. Place gets crowded, so be ready
Wine was exceptional, would have ordered a second glass, but staff were busy
Came here for a glass of wine and oysters while waiting for a table at Zest. It was pretty cozy in there.
The worst service I have experienced. We had reservations that were completely ignored. Our table was not ready and we were ultimately asked to share a table with someone else. Our server didn’t know anything about the wine collection and when we asked about the cheese menu, their response was “I don’t eat cheese.”Which is fine as a personal preference but your job is to know what’s on the menu. The server dropped a drink on a member of my party and the response we got was “he’s 19.” That’s not an apology. The person was offered wine as consolation but we didn’t get the wine till we reminded the server of it.The rudeness here is so obvious and disgusting. No one wants to pay to be treated with rude attitude and drinks spilt. Unless that is the kind of service you want.I’d be wary of coming here.
Got the carafe of happy hour white wine. Bottles came and were virtually clear and the wine tasted very, VERY watered down. It didn’t even taste like wine whatsoever. Would not be surprised if they were watering down the happy hour wine.
Great night of friends, family and wine!
An actual wine bar. They have a great happy hour and will give you multiple so you won’t have to make multiple trips. It is a bit small inside so can get stuffy. Did not feel like ordering food here but maybe catch it on a calmer night.
Very enjoyable and I would show up again
Ten bells used to be a cute, quaint spot but in the past few years its gone downhill in quality while going up only in price. the food is fine, but not worth the inflated new prices. a group of is went this past week during the heat wave and it was an absolute sauna in there.. not sure if they just dont have air conditioning or if it was the least effective AC of all time. all in all, the food and wine are fine at best, ambience is non-existent now because its loud and overrun, and the stuffy sauna environment is super unappealing
Ok vibe, weird music, good wine and TERRIBLE food. Avoid. Just come for a glass and that’s all.
Really like their hoffen back patio. Nice wine and tapas.
A nice place for wine and cocktails - the bartenders are very good at what they do.
The waiter spilled half of our Lambrusco on the floor and the other half on my vintage leather jacket - the waiter said this would be comped but upon receiving our check we were charged for half the bottle. The two waiters were extremely rude and condescending, and leather experts all of a sudden. This experience ruined my jacket and my night :/
Tapas was awesome!! Definitely try their croquettes. Happy hour oysters are on the smaller side, you can probably find better oyster places. That said, definitely a neighborhood tapas bar that I will frequent for non-oyster purposes.
Two of our oysters were fully rotten, staff seemed unconcerned. Many contained large amounts of grit. Wine and ambiance was fine. I’m really not the type to leave reviews but am pretty shocked at how bad the oysters were. Tragic :(.
Super cozy, nice oysters and friendly staff. I mean everyone!
Cute, cozy atmosphere with a great staff and incredible wine selection. Can’t wait to come back and have the oysters
Nice wine. Tried first time orange wine in this place
Ambience is one of the best in Manhattan, wine list is incredible.
Solid happy hr deal until 7pm w great lighting
Great vibe and excellent selection of delicious natural wines.
I love this place so much, $1 oyster cant be beat
Awesome place to get oysters and excellent wine
This has been my go to place for 12 years. And always perfect. Fantastic service
Very cool spot, decent value. Someone rude waiters but it’s a wine bar, what do you expect? Great first date spot.
Great ambiance and cozy atmosphere. I moved here 4 years ago and didnt even realize this place existed. Great find!
Lively atmosphere,Eclectic Wine list mostly focus on natural wines.Overall a minimum service is provided, and the wine is slightly overpriced, but that seems to be the case everywhere in NYC…
Cant judge the food. But its a nice neighbourhood bar, with prices OK for New York, especially during happy hour.
Dishwasher smell anywhere in the front area. Female bartender couldn’t care what we were ordering. She was randomly chucking empty wine bottles into the garbage can right beside me, scaring the creep out of me
Looks like a really nice place. The visit was for a late dinner and a drink. They are open till 2 am, but dont serve food late into the evening. Went at 11 pm. Would be useful if the owner said in his lengthy description that they dont serve food all evening, tapas. A waste of a journey across town, hence the bad review. Its simple for an owner to provide this info if not just a bar, but also a restaurant
Solid wine list and tapas / good price
Nice $1 oysters
Great place impressive wine and food options
Great date spot. Excellent oysters and wine.
Great place with a weekend oyster happy hour!
Great happy hour deal for $1 oysters
The $1 oysters are super small but that’s what you pay for. Service is great, tapas are nice, $20 wine carafe was perfect.
Prayers oysters werent fresh.
Great Happy Hour and extensive wine list
LOVED this place - Amazing selection on wine & cheese ❤️❤️❤️
Went too hard here the other night at the family table in the back. Small plates were all tasty and we probably got 30 + carafes of wine. Don’t be afraid to send it when you pull up
No better plan!!
