Such a beautiful wine bar with an amazing atmosphere. The bartender gave excellent recommendations, and we had the most delightful wine. I’ll definitely come back—this place is a gem!
I really like that this place has happy hour deals during the weekend. It’s a great spot for a glass of wine and snack while people watching. Their light fare is served charcuterie style and generously portioned. They also served bread but it was pretty dry.
I ordered bone marrow, duck confit and crème brûlée. I accepted suggestions for wine pairings from Jimmy. And literally everything was perfect. Even the music!! It was wonderful.
The service was good. The wine selection is betterthan most places. BUT the wine is expensive and the btg pours are miniscule. Too bad really. If margins are that tight, close. I get the economics but being cheap in what you deliver is really short sighted, especially when youre marking up bottles 3-4x from retail.
This place is so overpriced that it literally leaves you with buyers remorse every time you go. We live in the block and would probably be here several times a week if it werent so overpriced. Instead we go to 12th Street Ale House, Pangea, Bar Veloce, etc. And if we want wine, we just take a short walk to Astor Wines and Spirits, where you can usually find a nice bottle to take home for under $10. We just cant stomach the prices here.Wine by the glass ranges from $15 to $25 and up. And the pours are shamfully small. Im thinking they get 5-6 pours per bottle, maybe more. The few times we have gone back to give this another try, we still have not had any wines that we were impressed with--at all. Everything is just so overpriced and barely drinkable. As far as the food goes, there are no vegan options on the menu. Strange, when almost every other place in the East Village has at least a couple of options on the menu. But I doubt a lot of people go here for the food--its primarly a wine bar, albeit an overpriced one. There is a happy hour that ends at 6pm (not 7pm as stated online). Its $10 a glass (small--perhaps 1/4 full) for certain wines. Not every wine on the menu is available at the happy hour pricing, so make sure to check carefully with your server before ordering.
Came at 5:30 (happy hours until 6) and was charged full price for the first wine. When I brought it up, the server (not the typical server who is here) said I came after happy hour, which I showed wasn’t true (literally adding a photo because that was an insane lie to make up). Then said the wine I ordered (marked in red for HH) wasn’t included in happy hour. It would’ve been much easier to fix the mistake than lie twice about why he overcharged me and then he immediately walked away from the table so I couldn’t say anything else. Honestly really disappointed considering this is by me and I come often, why do that over $5??
We just had a drink here.. the place is nice, the service is fine and the atmosphere is pleasant..
Great French wine bar in the East Village. We had a nice bottle of white wine and a platter of 5 cheese. They also have USB phone chargers under the banquet seats.
Last weekend, the staff took great care of me and my date here at Vin Sur Vingt, my favorite wine bar in all of East Village. At Vin Sur Vingt, not only are you surrounded by a delightful ambience, affording you and your party the opportunity to connect over delicious wine, but you are equally and additionally fortunate to be in the kind hands of Hichem and Karim - the two men who ran the bar this past Friday evening. Seating us was no problem, and finding the right wine to drink was no problem as well. As a German, Hichem recommended the Riesling to me (which is already what I hope to order), and my date had adry rouge. To our appreciation, the two of us were then left alone for much of the night, enjoying the time to tell stories and laugh without fear that noise would disturb us. We left satiated and inspired. Thank you, Vin Sur Vingt, for another fantastic evening!
Nice cozy vibe wine bar. Pretty romantic but not over the top. I really liked the vibe. Happy hour (25% off a bottle) after 10pm.
My friend and I walked by this place and decided to check it out. What a nice surprise. Not only was the wine fantastic, but the chill vibe was very nice. Also, we had the pleasure of having a fantastic server, Hugo, who suggested the perfect wine and helped create a very pleasant experience. I highly recommend checking Vin Sur Vingt out when you’re in the neighborhood.
Best bar in town.Great wine, great ambiance and great staff. The french waiter/ sommelier is just great, friendly and knows his job to perfection.I go there with my friends and sometimes alone and it is always just as welcoming.I highly recommend and will keep going.
Came to this wine bar last night for the second time and it was again a very nice experience. Hichem is a a very enjoyable Barman/waiter and helped us choose delicious wine just like last time.I only come in when he is here because I know that I am going to have a good time.5 stars to him and to the wine
Very sneaky with their happy hour and it’s very unclear on the menu.We walked in asking about the happy hour. We ordered wine from the person we asked about said happy hour and even asked him for suggestions. We got the bill and it showed full priced wines. He knew we were coming in for happy hour and didn’t have the consideration to mention that the wines he suggested were not part of it.
My friend forgot her eyeglasses so just asked the bartender for a Cabernet. When the bill came there was a $28 glass of wine!! I asked the bartender for the menu and inquired as to which glass of wine is $28? The most expensive glass was $25. So he reduced it to $25. This place is not worth it.
Vin Sur Vingt is our favorite neighborhood bar. The wine selection is amazing, but what really makes this location special is Hugos attentiveness, expertise, and warmth. My wife and I love going there and cant recommend it highly enough.PS: This bar recently received a 1-star review from one Stefan Seecharran that looks highly suspect. Nothing about my experience there fits with anything he says (including their policy on dogs.) Ive noticed that this Stefan fellow tends to give a lot of 1-star reviews. Perhaps the problem lies with him.
Very cozy, cute wine bar with multiple locations! Love the $10 happy hour wine till 7pm.The tomato tartine was nice and fresh. Really enjoyed the beef braised stew it was very filling!Nice spot for a quick bite with a friend or date!
Impeccable wine selection. Great service. Intimately cozy ambience.
I don’t recommend this place.I have been working in French wine for over 10 years.I can tell you that the wine list does not have any interesting wines. And the only wines that are, are out of stock. The waiter is not enjoyable. Never a smile and everything pisses him off. When a wine is no longer available, he brings you another one without asking if it is ok.Otherwise, the food is really good. Great product !
Great cheese and wine, Rome the bartender was pleasant and knowledgeable.
We went here for drinks on a work trip. While going over my receipts/statements afterwards, I noticed that this place charged an extra 52 cents on my final SIGNED bill (after tips).52 cents is obviously not much, and would not raise any alarms (unless you had pictures of your receipt, like I did, as I was on a work trip). However, this highlights some sketchy practices (plus, 50 cents per table, for all tables, could add up), and I would recommend potential customers to stay away from such a dishonest business.
Lovely wine bar with a good ambiance. The staff are friendly, the service quick and friendly. We felt we were back in Paris! Recommended.
Had such a lovely time here on a rainy Friday night. The music was great, the wine was great, the service was GREAT. This is a new favorite spot and can’t wait to go back.
Brilliant charcuterie and cheese platter with modestly priced happy-hour wines (4 to 7!).
Such a cute place for wine and cheese with plenty of outdoor seating! Fair prices and friendly staff too
Lol price AND brand are not the same as the menu. This is kind of relevant in wine. In general seems like they are not good at selecting wine somehow it’s generally mediocre quality. Weird
I love this wine bar! The staff always has very helpful recommendations and they always select the best cheeses to pair with their wines.
They let me charge my phone and had great wine recommendations!!!!!!! Very friendly service.
Great wine bar! Vibe is great, service is great, wine selection 10/10
Great wine, cheese, service & atmosphere! Staff is very attentive & kind! One of the best new spots in the EV!
The pate was great. Cheese was great. Wine was great. We had a great time!
Very cool wine bar, with a great selection. My wife loved it. Great charauteries
I loved the food and wine. Wish there was a beer option.
Shout out to Victor. I will admit - my knowledge of wine is low. We came here to learn more and enjoy the cool French ambience at the East Village location. What made the experience truly special was our host - who went above and beyond with individual recommendations. The story behind the wine are most interesting, and we appreciated the host taking the time to explain the regional wine differences in France. Great service, great venue, great location! We will be back.
Best service in the East Village!
Great vibe with amazing bartender. Went there last night with a friend around 8:30 and was not too crowded at that hour at the bar. Highly recommend this wine bar in the East Village. Good selection of wines and has some less pricey ones than most wine bars. Highly recommend!
I accidentally stumbled into the bar during happy hour & it was so great! the atmosphere is nice & the wine tender was very friendly. i had the riesling, 10/10 will be back again!
Many of the wines on the menu were out of stock, combine that with the very small selection of wines by the glass and I was quite disappointed. French manager thought he knew more about French wine than anyone but I heard many incorrect things he said and then researched online later to confirm he was flat out wrong about things (e.g., he was adamant that Saint-Émillion was a Cabernet Sauvignon).
Would like to like it more but music is loud, service is abrupt and food is borderline. Room for improvement
This is my all-time favorite place to meet dates, friends and colleagues. When you come, ask for Hugo. He makes you feel like you’re home. Amazing selection of wines by the glass and the bottle and the beef Bourguignon is to die for.And the music selection… It’s off the charts!
I’ve come out of hibernation to write this review. This place is so great I have been there 5 times! And I almost never go to the same place twice. Please get the pork rillette, it is so amazingly good.
Absolutely wonderful experience thanks to our wonderful server, Hugo. He was so helpful with the wine and menu. So kinda and friendly towards us and especially our dog! Food, wine and outdoor seating makes a wonderful addition to the neighborhood. Will definitely become a regular spot
Fun little place to sit and have some wine and cheese, especially if you can sit outside and people watch. Hugo, our waiter was super friendly and helpful, and everything on the cheese and charcuterie platter was fantastic. Highly recommend!
Great wine and vibe. Especially loved our server Hugo. Super knowledgeable and kind guy! Will absolutely come back.
As close to a typical French restaurant as you can get (in NYC!)
Lovely place to grab a glass of wine and a snack. Loved this location in WV and can say that this new location is on point and a welcome new staple in the EV.
Klaas is the best! Hes so nice helping us to pick the wines
